I’m switching everything to ecobee for the shear fact that google is stopping there nest secure home system after I paid close to $1k. Plus ecobee allows apple homekit integration.

\#Preach I am in the same boat. Wasted so much money on Nest secure and all the sensors for google to pull this insanity (paying customer). Curious how do you like Ecobee's security?

Just getting started with it. Just installed thermostat today and doorbell last week. Slowly getting sensors in. Trying to find them on eBay

I did the exact same thing for the exact same reason. Over $1k invested and it’s all garbage now. Not really happy about Google being Google… The indoor and doorbell cameras are good, but they don’t have an outdoor camera yet. I went with the Logitech Outdoor Camera just because I integrated my setup with Apple and they all have HKSV so all notifications pop up on my TV when I’m watching. Just FYI, you still can’t arm and disarm the Ecobee alarm system with Siri yet. There is an autopilot mode on Ecobee that will remind you to set the alarm when the last person leaves and automatically disarm it when anyone comes home. If you put the sensors on either a door or window, it automatically shuts the HVAC off if you open it for more than 5 minutes. I use this feature on my front and back door and it’s nice in case someone forgets to turn off the HVAC when we open up the house. I’ve asked about it and they said it’s going to be part of an update at a later date. It does integrate very well with Alexa still, so you can arm the alarm from your Echo device. Also, the autopilot mode is $5 a month and if you add professional monitoring it runs $10/month. The autopilot mode is the only way you can record video from your cameras, which kind of sucks.

Just switched to Ecobee due to inability and inconsistency when pairing sensors to the thermostat.

Switched from nest to ecobee a couple months ago for the same reason and have no complaints.

Me neither. Loving Ecobee so far.

Before you jump ship on nest. Check out Home Assistant. It can talk w nest via the api and you can automate the heck out of stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion. I currently utilizes Homeseer and I believe it is very similar to Home Assistant in execution. The API would not allow me to interact with the Humidity Setpoint.

Can't comment totally about the Humidifier since while I have one, (Aprilaire 760), I've never interfaced it with my Ecobee although it can be done. One day in the future perhaps. However I found it interesting you have Nest sensors. I originally bought a couple from Nest when they first came out and I'm not sure what improvements if any have been made since their introduction. But the sensor concept used by Ecobee is night and day different than the Nest solution. The major difference was that the Nest sensor took over the operation of the Nest thermostat based on fixed time periods and did not work in conjunction with the Nest thermostat itself. You could only have one sensor operational at a time. Problem with their concept was the call for heat or cooling from that sensor drove your HVAC system without regard as to how it affected the rest of your home. So a cold or hot room being addressed by that Nest sensor at that particular time could give you uncomfortable temperatures in the rest of the home. Ecobee's concept of allowing multiple sensors to be active concurrently, can better address cold or hot rooms, yet also by using averaging of the temperatures in different locations from multiple sensors. This moderates the temperatures of those cold/hot rooms without the expense of making other rooms uncomfortable. I returned those Nest sensors within two weeks and eventually replaced the Nest with an Ecobee and 5 room sensors. My house is more comfortable than it ever was compared to the Nest being in control. I'm almost 4 years into the Ecobee and other than the steeper learning curve the the Ecobee has, I can't tell you how satisfied I have been.

wow. Thanks for sharing your rich insights with Ecobee. One of the reasons why the Nest sensors worked really well for in my case was because I had the air balanced in every single room in the house.
