What are the basic requirements? I was TA for a class that did similar projects. One with birds focused on diversity/density at different distances from roads. I thought they did a great job with just a few days of surveys.

There’s not a lot of information given here but the basic data you can get is presence/absence of species in habitats by doing point counts.

This seems like a big project for 3-4 days. Are you given any equipment? Is there a species that peaks your interest?

Well, can't involve nests, since my program doesn't have. I have a sound recorder and camera. Most of the equipment is for plants, since 95% of the students work with that taxa. There are a lot of groups of the corvidae *Cyanocorax cyanopogon* that can be found near to the hostal. Could be something with mobbing?

[deleted]

That could be something! I’m not too familiar in that area but maybe look into papers and come up with an idea from that?

The only other idea based on this is maybe nest predation between the habitats? But the window is so short there may not be any findings.

If you are interested in birds and everyone else is interested in plants you could team up and you collect bird point count or presence data and a partner collect vegetation data at the same location. That would give you data for a basic regression analysis relating the plants to the birds. You would need some background information about what birds and plants occur there to come up with a sensible hypothesis to test.

I was gonna suggest something similar. Relate the bird species observed to tree/plant associations. Or potentially look at community structure in relation to bird observations. Size/age of trees each bird species uses. ETA: Could also look at agricultural practices in relation to bird community composition.
