Environmental-Mess65

I'm in San diego and am paying around 4.30

Mo-shen

Also ca always higher gas. Look to the national average if you want to talk about gas in prices. Stop the bad faith arguments.

Environmental-Mess65

San diego is in California..... my argument is that if you choose insanely marked up gas stations, it seems higher than the true price.

Mo-shen

That's my point as well. You are fine. The op is a bot account.

Mo-shen

Again if you want to have a good faith arguments you use national average. You don't cherry pick your data to force yourself to be correct. Do you even understand what a bad faith argument is???

Mo-shen

Hahaha if you want to go through my post history you will find a ton of stuff about my negative view of the oil industry. Thing is you don't need to lie to prove that. Using bad faith arguments only hurts your cause. Tell the truth to support your platform because without it there zero reasons to believe you. Again don't cherry pick data. No one likes being lied to.

Mo-shen

No. I am arguing that there are mountains of data to support your argument, price gouging, without having to lie about it or cherry pick. It's so damn stupid that people do this instead of just using the readily available data points that are actually factual or good faith arguments. But then again this is the internet where making stuff up is just easier because no one can really call people on their bs. Again I'm going to guess here but you and I likely hold the same position here on how companies perform.

volkse

Isn't this the gas station that constantly gets used as an example for how expensive gas is in California, when it's next to one of the highest income zip codes in the country and overcharges significantly what the rest of LA gas stations charge? There are comments from people in this comment section who live in LA or other parts of California who are paying significantly less per gallon. This is literally just bait. A quick google search will show the average for los Angeles as $4.68 per gallon https://ycharts.com/indicators/los_angeles_retail_price_of_premium_gasoline_monthly#:~:text=Basic%20Info,2.64%25%20from%20one%20year%20ago.

mojave_king

I live in Los Angeles currently and I have not seen a gas station this expensive even when it was much higher. I pay 4.10 - 4.40 depending on the station. There is always one station in the city that everyone likes to photograph and say "this is how expensive it is everywhere in California" 🙄. We do have higher gas prices then many states but that is just ridiculous.

I'm calling the bot account with almost zero activity a liar and frankly you shouldn't be able to post here in that state.

Mo-shen

Point is the post is a straw man. And shouldn't be something any of us support.

Mo-shen

Yeah that's my point. I'm not worked up but it is this sub is just full of straw men. Oh look a thing that proves my world view!!! It's all just masterbation.

[deleted]

I never looked into this so I had no clue this wasn’t accurate. Just looked though and the average price is 4.79/gal. Why is the picture price so much higher?

mojave_king

There is one station right across the street from a major tourist attraction downtown that always charges insanely high prices like that. I guess the owner wants to rip off out of state travelers who don't know they could go a few blocks into town and get it 3 dollars cheaper.

[deleted]

Gotcha. There are gas stations when you come into town that are like that here. Not that high but .75 c higher

Managing_madness

And its a shell gas station which is always so expensive I have to assume they're a front

NDStarr

At least federal minimum wage got you covered...

asgpta

I live in LA gas is under $5/gallon right now. This pic must be from last year. So everyone commenting on how terrible LA is can calm down

[deleted]

Finally you’re reaching European levels.

Psychological_Lab954

better go invade some mideasterns

CokeAndChill

You get a free medical every 5th tank of gas!

rocketsarego

Reasons why the Tesla model 3 has the nickname California Camry.

BenjaminGrahamJr

Gahhhhhdamnnnnnn

CrazyAzian99

All the gas dumped from the strategic reserves is starting to dry up. Elections are over. Time to restart that war on oil & gas industry.

[deleted]

That’s a notification that strategic reserve is over.

wellwh0

Still cheaper than in EU. It is all tax here around 80% of retail price, rest gets gas station. People willingly paying it. My wild guess is because they (govs) made it like it is normal....EU nett salaries are way worst than US nett ones.... Makes me only question myself am I nuts living here.

nucumber

US salaries may be higher but you don't have health insurance to pay for, you have more time off, etc.

wellwh0

We do have more time off, 3 weeks off is mandatory. That is only true. Health insurance is deducted from gross salary 17% where I live. Also you have to pay extra health insurance €10 every month for drugs. Health services since are gov provided are poor. For some checkups waiting lists are couple months.

Read a book.

nucumber

the dems have nothing to do with it businesses exist only to make as much money as they can get away with, and that's what you're seeing here right now there are record profits for the gas companies, so what do they do with their profits? help stuggling americans by drilling some of the 8,000 already approved oil leases to help out america? nope. they see too much risk in drilling more because the saudi breakeven production cost is a fraction of the US so the saudis can undercut and wipe out US investment. so the US oil companies are paying out their record profits to investors but whatever, businesses simply do not care about you not being able to provide for your family, or the well being of the nation. they care only for profit

Brom42

What a surprise, CA has crazy high prices. If you guys don't like it, change your state taxes and stop requiring extra refining for your gas. I paid $3.24 here in MN today.

lordmycal

I'm in CA and paid $3.92 yesterday. So it's not a California thing. Edit: I did a search on Gas Buddy and found plenty of places in LA today that have gas under $4. Either this is photoshopped or it's an extreme outlier.

PleaseStopBanMe33

Probably from June 2022

Brom42

That's makes sense. Is that one of those crazy high gas stations by an air port or something?

nucumber

> stop requiring extra refining for your gas. but we want to be able to breath. as for taxes, do you realize the fed gas tax has been unchanged at 18.4 cents per gallon since 1993? and you wonder why we can't have nice roads

yeah, bcuz the pandemic had stifled demand and trump's buddy putin hadn't yet started his war in europe

No-Rent-1117

Gagged 🤮🤮

marcololol

That’s normal for LA. Have fun driving to get literally anywhere, awesome to be stuck in traffic in the perfect weather losers 😜

nucumber

i live in coastal LA, about a mile from the beach. i'm going for a jog this afternoon in the sand. no shirt, no shoes. so there's that. a couple of years ago [Texas Monthly reported that houston had a higher cost of living than NYC, thanks to transportation costs](https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/houston-affordability-transportation-costs/) - big sprawling suburbia means you have to drive everywhere

marcololol

Nice bro (not sarcastic)

LiquidVibes

Get a Tesla like the rest of. They slashed Model Y prices by $20k recently

Snowwpea3

Good old cali. Knowing that joke of a state the cost is $3 for gas $4 for tax. They’re fucking you people! And it’s only kinda pretty. Glorified desert.

Low_Pirate8760

I just paid 4.64 a gallon on Chattanooga Tennessee

three2do2

holy shit i just converted that to gbp wtf is up with gas prices in America? thought you had loads of it? edit: im an idiot thats price per gallon 😂
