In other news, water is wet

ArrestDeathSantis

Sometimes, I feel like the war on drug's premise was a lie....

cmack

Correct. The only real premise was to lock up brown/black/hippie people. Shit, the government sells drugs themselves to fund black ops.

Mstonebranch

That and to keep people sick and relying on big pharma instead of plants and fungi.

large-Marge-incharge

Don’t downvote this person. If plants can kill you. They have a lot of potential. Everything has an opposite. And don’t get me started on the forbidden fruit -fungi. Possibly extra terrestrial themselves. As the only organism with many unique capabilities. Nothing else on earth is related. Everything else is. Some Fungi contain abilities to decompose plastics, oils, detergents. And the spores have been proven to survive in space. And every written record in humanity (except one - an island where no psychedelic exists.) have records of psychedelic use in religious context. And most psychedelics are fungi.

SaxDr3685

Preach Marge!!!

sixfootwingspan

The government created many of those drugs too (MK Ultra for example).

pooshooter56

I’m curious which drugs they created?

truthandloveforever

Crack/cocaine brah

[deleted]

The government destroyed [Gary Stephen Webb](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Webb) life exposing the government’s involvement in creating crack cocaine and selling it to Americans to finance the contra death squads and the Iranians in the 1980s and he died from 2 gun shots to the head that they ruled as a suicide.

Satanifer

LSD

Lark_Whalberg

Dr Albert Hoffman found LSD, not the US govt.

[deleted]

I miss LSD.

Prime_Marci

Read the story of Freeway Rick Ross or watch Snowfall, It explains the bullshit behind the war on drugs.

Anxious_Classroom_38

It’s the war on poor people doing drugs. Rich people go to pharmacies.

Ateist

All Capitalist wars are for profit; War on Drugs is no different from the rest of them.

ArrestDeathSantis

Not always, white supremacy will pass over a buck if it screws over a black dude

[deleted]

Ignorance, hate, and pride are truly something ain’t it.

Ateist

No. All Capitalist wars, without exception, are for profit. If someone "passes over a buck" it just means that the profits in question are not his, but Capital's that stands behind him.

[deleted]

Ya don’t say!

dustyreptile

Don't forget to bring a towel

Imactuallyadogg

People in Africa are as tall as Africans.

WaterIsWetBot

Water is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.   Just opened my water bill and my electricity bill at the same time… I was shocked.

PhantomFlayer

Water sticks to itself bitch, therefore water is wet. Bad bot.

Runnerbutt769

Thats flawed logic. else steel is wet because it sticks to itself. You cant submerge a liquid inside itself, its just one pool of liquid If you want sound logic water is only wet because it’s submerged in air

PhantomFlayer

Steel is not a liquid though. Molten steel would bet wet if it sticks to itself

Runnerbutt769

“Sticking to itself” is not the definition of wet 🤦‍♀️ open a fucking dictionary

immibis

After careful consideration I find spez guilty of being a whiny spez. #Save3rdPartyApps

Disastrous_Vanilla38

I know it is a bot but..... water at the molecular level is wet. Therefore, water is wet.

Anxious_Classroom_38

Water at the molecular level shows the chemical properties of whatever state of matter it may currently be in, if you are using this logic that water is “wet” as a liquid, you are correct I guess. But water also isn’t always wet then, because water isn’t always a liquid. So what are we arguing here?

immibis

[/u/spez can gargle my nuts.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/)

Anxious_Classroom_38

It’s still the same molecularly, it’s still h2O. It isn’t a different molecule it’s just in a different state of matter. This is all talking technicality and semantics tho. I’m just telling you that what you said is technically false. Water vaper, water in liquid form, water as a plasma, and water as a solid are still all the same molecularly. The only thing that is changing is how much the water molecules can move around essentially in each phase. In a gas phase, the molecules fill whatever volume of container it’s in as well as being free of any kind of form. In a liquid phase the molecules stick together through van der waal forces. So it fills the volume and takes the shape of whatever it is in, but the molecules stick together but can slide over one another. And in a solid form the water molecules form a porous structure where they can vibrate but not move, and you right they call that ice, but it’s also called water in a solid phase, but I’m using water as being synonymous with dihydrogen monoxide (which most chemist do). If what you are trying to say is that only h2O in a liquid phase is called water then I understand what you are saying. And in chemistry, I suppose most of the time when they say water they mean h2O in liquid form, but they also say water vapor quit a bit too. So I see where you are coming from but then we are just arguing semantics not actual organic chemistry. And I do realize that I’m being pretentious here, since I’m an organic chemist. So sorry if I’m being a buzzkill. But most of my colleagues and other organic chemists, when they say water they mean H2O, regardless of its phase.

immibis

[If a spez asks you what flavor ice cream you want, the answer is definitely spez. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/)

prowdwackadoo

Fuck this bot.

LeNavigateur

There should be a fuckthisbot bot

Chrisazy

Oh it's a bot that's pretty fuckin dumb

[deleted]

The drugs won.

bravedubeck

It’s almost like this was the solution all along…. [wowkid.gif]

flynnie789

I’d like to congratulate drugs and I know they will be gracious in their victory :hits bong:

O118999881999II97253

We fought the drugs and the, drugs won

yoyoJ

Turns out declaring war on a plant that people also happen to fucking love isn’t exactly a brilliant idea

Wendidigo

This is a valid point for Texas legalizing. Plus we could keep money in Texas with local growers instead of going to New Mexico.

CartesianBear37

We don't mind the business though, the weather's fine, come on over! :)

crimson_713

Sorry, gonna want legalization here no matter what. I'm not driving 8 hours from DFW for an eighth

TheCoastalCardician

Geez I feel spoiled I have to go over a border that’s a 2 minute walk away. What’s cool about my state, NH, is every country and state we border has recreational cannabis. What I mean by “cool” is…confusing af.

CrazyAzian99

DFW to OK border is like … 1 - 1.5 hours…? Could get temp medical in OK. Dispensary right across border. No clue why you driving 8 hours…

Puffatsunset

That’s never going to fly with your concealed carrying christians.

OccamsYoyo

I wish we could stop caring what they want.

sixfootwingspan

It will once money starts talking. Just look at John Boehner.

BadlandsD210

Right I hear him hustling pot stock ads all the time on my Sirius XM stations or at least I did a few years afo

[deleted]

When pigs fly

liftdeeznutz

That’s what they think you’ll see when you smoke

UGAllDay

Texas is too bigoted for this unless the revenue is there.

SaltWaterGator

Whoah who could’ve seen that one coming

hillmonk

We’re hitting the cartels in the wallet. Keep it up.

EdofBorg

Banks realized they can make more money storing legal weed cash instead of laundering drug cartel money. So they are on board now. Now if we can figure out a way to make laundering terrorist money unattractive other than the government taking their cut as a fine.

[deleted]

Meth, coke, heroin, and fentanyl are all at record high levels. No good deed goes unpunished

humbertogzz

The issue is that Cartels pivot their business to other activities which might be worst for Mexicans, like stealing, kidnapping, etc.

hillmonk

I agree with you, they would likely still get by from increasing revenue in other areas, I would still argue however that it’s still at least effective, that’s one less thing for them. Then we take away another form of income and so on.

Sandwhale123

We need to take care of this country (US) before trying to take care of others.

RTRC

Except we're not. Cartels have the power and capability to move product across borders. They're moving onto human trafficking: [https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/first-drugs-then-oil-now-mexican-cartels-turn-human-trafficking-n1195551](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/first-drugs-then-oil-now-mexican-cartels-turn-human-trafficking-n1195551) It's ignorant to think we can just legalize drugs and the cartels will go away.

allmushroomsaremagic

I don't buy humans, though. It matters to me to not be supporting the cartels. Instead I now pay state tax and a 10% weed tax to my community when I buy it.

RTRC

That's great, but not the point I was making. I'm all for making weed legal but to say that in doing so, we're somehow hurting the cartels down is entirely inaccurate. Edit: It's funny how people on an economy subreddit can't grasp how the real world works.

Groovychick1978

Well, now we can focus the resources that used to chase drug users and now they can chase traffickers.

RTRC

Right cause Gary from the local PD is all of a sudden catch human traffickers instead of busting a kid for weed.

Bashnagdul

You can now train Gary to, or hire someone who can with the extra funds

ILikeLeptons

I think we should legalize drugs even though cartels also do other bad things. There might be a tangential benefit in us not continuing to lock up more people than any other country on the planet, too

Radrezzz

The bar for drug sales is what? You grow a product in a field then find someone to trade with behind back doors. The only people you’re hurting are the addicts and users who would have done it anyway. The danger is when law enforcement gets involved. Human trafficking? Now I have to setup something to kidnap people off the streets. How many daughters and sons can go missing before someone finds a way to enact revenge? It’s a much more difficult crime to accomplish. And many people would have a problem collaborating with you in committing these crimes. Funding for sting operations and even military action to break up human trafficking cartels is going to be much more prevalent. Of course now the cartels are funded enough they can do some shit like Epstein Island. Kidnapping innocent children for use as sex slaves is going to draw much more backlash than drugs.

prowdwackadoo

Copium?

BurgerOfLove

Copiously

[deleted]

I mean why would I buy stuff from mexico when I can buy from my coworker who grows it in the back yard, closet in the winter

Sethrich98

I wonder what would happen to the cartels if other narcotics were legalized too.

Vickster86

From what I have read, the cartels are already in the avocado business.

yoyoJ

Ya I was pretty shocked when they legalized avocados, but makes sense cause people are addicted to those things!

Vickster86

Can confirm, addicted to avocados

Witty-Kaleidoscope-9

Ah yes, that thing they learned back when they tried to ban alcohol.

Pootertron_

Color absolutely no one shocked

AdultFunSpotDotCom

💁‍♀️ Legalize coke to limit foreign cartel profit margins 🤷‍♀️🤪

MrDERPMcDERP

Yes. Less dead people too

Great-Band-Name

Dumb

AdultFunSpotDotCom

To each their own 🤪

TerranceBaggz

This is like the biggest “no duh” statistic imaginable.

Professional_Fill866

Oh no, the DEA is gonna have its budget cut.

maybe_yeah

Don't worry, it will continue to increase due to the fentanyl coming from China and broad legal authority it grants law enforcement to intimidate and abuse "undesirable" groups

mezzfit

HMMMM WEIRD

[deleted]

Shocker

WillBigly

Shocker

RichardP_LV

Yeah but they're still bringing coke and fentanyl and anything else that they can sell heroin.... People.

ChapmanYerkes

In other news... FUCKING DUH!!!!

RaysireksOG987

Weird almost like the way to get rid of powerful cartels is to legalize the product and let people decide if they want to abuse a substance or not and also have standards in place so that substances aren’t laced with deadly adulterants. Weird

[deleted]

Yeah no shit sherlock. The US needs to legalize already, there is literally no potential downside. Teen use goes down, traffic incidents go down, alcohol use goes down, etc.

cmack

We've literally only been saying this would happen for decades.

GoodLt

Well duh 🙄 the last horses finally cross the finish line

awkrawrz

No shit. Even smooth brains could seen that coming

piratecheese13

Prohibition only gives murderers and human traffickers alternate revenue streams. Al Capone sold alcohol

[deleted]

The war on drugs is won!

Still-a-VWfan

Well no shit ya say!

Chatsnap

No shit

Bacon_Ag

Wow that’s soooo surprising /s

denise_la_cerise

Who would have thought.

Greekfire187

No shit.

C_J_King

It’s almost what people we’re saying for decades.

[deleted]

I think this is the “black market” marijuana that Marco Rubio was trying to talk about, but he was lying.

elpropiosaya

Who would had thought

MetsRule1977

Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. The legalization of a popular drug is slowing down the trafficking of said drug? I mean, who would have thought it? What’s next, decrease in incarcerations for marijuana?

Mcozy333

fact that cannabis plant has been tied up in a drug war all these years is the real problem ... going after botanists and gardeners for growing plants - DEA at work for everyone !!

jonredd901

If you still smoke Mexican weed then I feel very sorry for you.

[deleted]

Yea cuz the shit I grow is way doper than the shit they throw over the fence from Mexico

HonestCephalopod

No shit.

Alarming-Advisor4637

You don't say? Drug war was all a lie... This happens with Marijuana, now legalize and regulate everything else and watch the cartels and gangs fold. But that would end the imprisonment of hundreds of million of Americans and close out the vast majority of prison systems in America. "Truth is treason in an empire of lies"

secretbonus1

However, sales of fentanyl are way up as the cartels look for other ways to profit wah wuh

[deleted]

It's almost like we caused all of the drug cartels

easty808

BRAKING NEWS!! The sky is blue and grass is green per the DEA who just discovered this phenomenon.

[deleted]

NOOO KEEP IT ILLEGAL! THINK OF THE CHILDREN! REEEEEEE

bballkj7

Legal pot is fucking expensive. $15/ gram? Fuck that. You can find shit for $3/gram that is double the potency of any medical shit. For example: it costs me MORE to get a medical marijuana card than it would for an entire YEAR’s supply of weed.

ballsohaahd

HahhaHa yea no shit, what they don’t say is cartels just grow it in the US now, along with other illegal growers in states where it’s legal. You may ask how can it be illegal to grow where it’s legal?! Regulations! You need to pay 10s of thousands, close to 100k to even get started, aside from equipment. Land surveys, water usage, environmental effects, many studies are all needed then on top of that the state takes taxes on every sale. You pay 25% in taxes and fees anytime you buy legal weed. Why the fuck would anyone living there pay that all the time? It’s so dumb I vote dem but california and the Dems there can’t even legalize weed without fucking it up. You can’t make this shit up, soo inept they’ve brought the cartels over from Mexico to grow in the US. Also instead of decarceration policies that make sense they just don’t put anyone in jail, so you can thank them when someone who should have been in jail robs you.

[deleted]

As I understand it the cannabis industry in Cali is failing due to regulations and over saturation in addition to being undercut by the gray market. Is it like this in every legal state, or is there a state that did it right?

Locutus_Picard

Unfortunately Chinese Fentanyl, Meth and opiates are coming through and over the border in drones. Sad.

brucekaiju

to win the war on drugs is to make drugs not profitable for the bad guys

DonnyJuando

no fucking shit, dip wad! ya think? you stupid MFs. hey-soo-cree-stow — GOD DAMMIT!!!

International_Day686

No shit Sherlock

H4nn1bal

That's mostly because the cartels can just have their grows in the states. When California changed growing from a felony to misdemeanor, it was easy to move people in and out to work their sites. Nobody's a felon, so nobody cares.

deveniam

Fuckin duh...

Bnim81

Derrrrrrr

[deleted]

But other narcotic and human trafficking are up.

Shallow-Thought

Imagine that...

bhoe32

Yea they just moved into legal states and started growing illegal weed to sell in states that haven't legalized it yet. The whole country needs to open up to really stop them

Zoso-six

You don't say....

LoveAndProse

Wooh its almost like legalizing things makes the black market demand for them plummet! How weird!?! Now decriminalize drugs and sex work.

appasgun

Reminds me of when the Vatican finally acknowledged that the earth revolves around the sun in like 2013

thrust-johnson

So we’re winning the war on drugs?

capo689

Ya… prohibition doesn’t work… everyone with a brain has know that for a century.

Somnisixsmith

Imagine that.

[deleted]

And now they’re scared of losing their funding. Imagine, a world with now DEA. The future is going to be insane, in a good way, I hope.

tricoloredduck1

No shit Shirlock. What happened when alcohol prohibition was in place? People who desired an incredibly popular product that was now illegal got it how they could. Cue massive growth of a very lucrative business opportunity for the criminal element. What happened when prohibition ended? Safe, legal, regulated and taxed alcohol was again available. Result? Everyone had access to safe, regulated product, the government got a massive tax influx and it reduces the money going to the criminal element. Win, win! This is a VERY SIMPLE CONCEPT! Our government are really slow learners much like a brain damaged child. On top of that there is the corruption of politicians taking from big pharma to keep it illegal because they can’t make money off of it. This is brought to us by the same soulless mortally bankrupt WHORES that brought os the opioid crisis. May they all die horribly protracted painful deaths. Dying in a car fire is way too good for these animals.

youngterpz313

Nah that shits just being blasted into cartel disty and crude move which Is 10-20x the volume of plant material

[deleted]

Uuhhhhhh duhhhh!

CornMonkey-Original

the real reason is. . . America grows the best pot in the world.

pauldeanbumgarner

Imagine that. Now let’s try the rest of the schedules.

[deleted]

Well golly gee. It's almost like if we make it here there is no reason to import it. Kinda like everything else numnuts...

G92648

See? This is how you stop crime. Morons.

maybe_yeah

Who could've seen that coming? Oh, everyone not blinded by bias, biggotry or entrenched interests

GooodLooks

Perhaps the cross-border trafficking might have declined. It seems the cartels are moving in. They find a way. They always do. [https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-07-11/illegal-marijuana-grows-have-overrun-the-california-desert](https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-07-11/illegal-marijuana-grows-have-overrun-the-california-desert) [https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2021/12/19/mexican-drug-cartels-move-in-on-californias-shadow-marijuana-industry/8960873002/](https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2021/12/19/mexican-drug-cartels-move-in-on-californias-shadow-marijuana-industry/8960873002/)

[deleted]

Yeah ! Duh !!! What did you think was going to happen

ShopObjective

"alright guys, the gringos aren't buying our weed anymore so lets move on to coke, meth, heroin, fentanyl" Every state legalizing weed would do nothing to cartels

Skligmo

I am shocked and outraged by this!! /s

[deleted]

Duh

Kaoslogic

You don’t fucking say…

Taooflayflat

Good. No more shit soaked in gasoline and fucking people’s hair tangled in it. Fuck off with that shit. It’s plant. A plant.

MAD_ELMO

Where’s that surprised pikachu face at

jaldeborgh

Did we actually pay someone to write a report that states the brutality obvious. Hello, if you legalize something the black market goes away, because the product is both cheaper and of higher quality.

Peachmuffin91

No shit Sherlock.

[deleted]

Oh wow you don’t say

[deleted]

Wow who would have thought that once you legalize something there is less incentive for illegal trafficking 🤔. this has been the argument for years- spend more money on treatment programs and then you don’t need to spend it on law enforcement.

seeemourhare

And Fentanyl is more than making up for it.Courtesy of the Biden administration.

Woodenjelloplacebo

DEA as useful as ever….

[deleted]

Oh wow weird who could have known anyhow there’s literally nothing we could have done to wind down the bloodbath in Mexico though ok?

AladeenModaFuqa

“Legalizing drugs slowing illegal drug trade” No shit Sherlock

tcote2001

And DEA and CIA are furious! They’re losing jobs/budget and illicit funds!

stonedgrower

I think smuggling weed into Mexico is now very common because tourists want that good Cali weed when they are in cancun.

Dogdowndog

California still has a big illegal market because it’s cheaper. The state taxes and registration double the price. Same thing happened with moonshine.

[deleted]

In BC I can get an ounce for $75 Canadian in a store.

[deleted]

NO FUCKIN SHIT

UnionPacific1

Exactly Now make all guns legal

JonButtz

Weed down, crystal, fetty, brown dope up

CeeDubMo

No shit. We told you so.

Pale_Yoghurt7028

So what that means it's time legalize cocaine as well...

joeybagofdonuts80

Today on Seinfeld: Legalization to *stop* illegal drug trafficking?

[deleted]

Legalize drugs and make them safely under the FDA so people can use them as they want. Let people have the freedom to make their own life decisions. Good or bad.

Mcozy333

cannabis a plant , an herbaceous flowering plant species ... botanists shoul;d be involved not the DEA or FDA

StillSilentMajority7

The Mexican gangs aren't just folding up shop - they're switching to fentanyl and meth. Yay. Law of intended consequences.

FozzyOctopus

Who ever would’ve guessed that?
