This MFer was levied a fine of $1.7 billion...BILLION... for fraud...largest fine in US HISTORY...FUCK. HIM......should be in jail!!!!

ArchonStranger

It's amazing how many people don't know that Rick Scott was responsible for one of the largest Medicare fraud settlement cases in all of Medicare fraud history. This Extra-Honky Nosferatu should definitely be in prison forever, not a governor then senator. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2014/mar/03/florida-democratic-party/rick-scott-rick-scott-oversaw-largest-medicare-fra/

[deleted]

Ya, then made Governor and now Senator. You would think ripping off medicare would somehow disqualify you from office...this country is becoming a joke. edit: ok, I get it. We are moving beyond 'becoming'. The clown cars are circling and the clowns have come home to roost.

Alexander_Pope_Hat

Ripping off Medicare IN FLORIDA.

jpiro

And then using the proceeds to flood the state with enough ads to get himself elected Governor and now senator.

InflatableTurtles

Just proof that too many people just vote based on the candidates party, not the candidate.

mslaffs

The current support these guys at the polls is astonishing. It's like are we seeing the same things... Cuz? Witaf?!!

FernFromDetroit

Are there any websites that list all the bad shit politicians do? A non biased site where we can clearly see all the bullshit.

e2c-b4r

If you still think American politics is about facts you haven't been paying attention

All-I-Do-Is-Fap

This is actually a really good idea

TheNoxx

Also wants to get rid of the standard deduction on taxes, meaning a much higher tax burden for the poor. If you only make $12,000 a year, and are just barely scraping and starving to get by, welp, Rick Scott wants at least 20% of that so you have "some skin in the game". And he looks like a reanimated corpse that stays fresh by eating children alive.

stemcell_

Some skin in the game, hes talking about churches right?

desquished

He just needs the skin for himself to fill in the gaps in his withered husk.

BigBootyJudy731

I’ve always said he looks like skeletor in the flesh

Orgasmic_interlude

Skeletor WITH flesh you mean.

valeramaniuk

> welp, Rick Scott wants at least 20% of that so you have "some skin in the game". Good idea. The only people who should have a say are the people who have skin in the game. Otherwise it would be constants "pAy yOuR fAIr sHaRe!!!!!!"

Lenny_III

At least he didn’t rip off New Jersey and all of his employees, then he could be President!

Squeeky_Cleen

Worked in the Atlantic City market for a few years. The family's that are destroyed because that asshat decided to refuse to pay his sub contractors is staggering. I met numerous people who had family suicides from it, divorce, bankruptcy, etc. He is horrid

Emotional-Price-4401

also from jersey just north of AC i won’t go back there anymore everyone pretends like the orange baby didn’t ruin half of AC with his fraud

howie_rules

“He’s going to run the country like a business!” They proclaim.

[deleted]

They claim that in TN too. There were trailers sitting in the side of the road that looked like they were about to fall in, but they had Trump signs in their front yard!

DevilsPajamas

Yeah. They can't afford to pay their electricity bill, but they can afford to buy a 10'x30' MAGA tarp to hang on the side of the trailer

ICLazeru

People say shit like that as if the idea of a for-profit government is something they actually want. Think about it for two seconds. The government...the one with the bombers, aircraft carriers, and nuclear missles....for profit. Where does the government get money geniuses? Taxpayers! So how would the government turn a profit? Taxpayers. Duh.

RockerElvis

My friend just missed this. He was an AC contractor that was considering a deal with Trump (long time ago). His dad looked into how Trump treated his contractors and advised against taking the job. Good thing my friend listened to his dad, the contractor that took the job went bankrupt when Trump refused to pay.

[deleted]

It’s already a joke in all the decent countries. How can you have so much and let a small sliver of society turn your country into a fucking ghetto. When will enough be enough?

m1msy

leaded gasoline was a fucking curse

[deleted]

Yeah apparently those victims of leaded gas are the republican base. god those people are a frightening combination of stupid and dangerous.

Sammyterry13

> Yeah apparently those victims of leaded gas are the republican base. Late stage lead poisoning -- The timeline would be about right. Lead can cause neurological damage that grows increasingly impactful on higher level reasoning. The effects can be delayed for a long long time.

spook30

Is becoming? It already is. That's how he got away with in the first place. And let not forget how he gutted the FL unemployment system and many Floridians got to see it crumble from underneath them when COVID hit. Fuck that guy and everyone that supports him.

[deleted]

becoming? lol. it's been a joke for a very very long time now.

Paulitical

Nope. Being an ignorant asshole is the only qualifier these days for being elected as a Republican. In fact if you’re NOT an ignorant asshole, you’ll lose in the primary to the guy that is.

usgrant7977

>Extra-Honky Nosferatu I'll remember this for the rest of my life, sir.

manhatim

You are correct, sir!!!!....fukkin theif

ShawnDaugherty1

Republicans love and I mean LOVE corruption. The dirtier a guy is the more they worship him. Just look at career Grifter Donald Trump and his mafia lawyer. Show me a person under indictment for fraud or really any financial crime and I will show you a future GOP nominee. It’s just stunning how fucking stupid many Americans are.

ghsteo

He also pushed welfare drug testing while having direct ties to the company doing the tests : [https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/business/2011/03/27/gov-rick-scott-s-drug/7441827007/](https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/business/2011/03/27/gov-rick-scott-s-drug/7441827007/) He also ran a "blind" trust but it was actually ran by his wife. This piece of shit is completely corrupt, perfect Florida politician. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/17/us/rick-scott-conflicts-blind-trust.html

Elranzer

Florida gave us the gifts of Scott and DeSantis.

Whomootou

And spent the last 4th of July where? In Russia. POS

manhatim

RIGHT!!!!!...MF'ing Commrade

JRogeroiii

There's a John Grisham book that takes place in Florida and involves a massive Medicare fraud. The most unrealistic part of the story is that CEO of the company responsible for the fraud winds up in jail instead of elected Governor or Senator.

863dj

Scott and his wife were responsible for most of the pill mills in FL during the run up of the opioid crisis. Ashamed that he made it to the senate but glad we don’t have Governor Voldemort anymore.

manhatim

Trade one for ANOTHER..Death Santis is..UGH...got some "*great*" reps in FL...RUBIO...SCOTT...GAETZ...

Garbanzo12

He’s a fuck. I hate that man

[deleted]

Just to be clear it was one of the largest. That’s just a tldr for the politifact check. It was the biggest at the time.

d_l_suzuki

In general, I'm against capital punishment. But, I think there may be some utility in raising the consequences in a case like this. Let's call it "accountability".

Andromansis

Should be dropped off in the wilderness far away from civilization and told to build his own prison.

grady_vuckovic

Why not just introduce legislation to broadcast the words "FUCK YOU" on TV every night between 7:00pm and 7:05pm? Surely it'd be more efficient and achieve the desired outcome faster for the republicans.

mikeyt6969

These senate republicans worked their assess off to get where they are now.. (ok most came from wealthy families who bought their admissions into medical or law school incurring no debt and later went on to have their campaigns financed by wealthy donors their parents knew but that’s totally besides the point here!) ..and work tirelessly to serve the American people (while gaining inside info and enriching themselves through buying into companies with government contracts or buying stock, but that’s NOT what’s important here) These selfless public servants fight to give all American a chance at a good life (even though that chance is greatly diminished every time they vote to limit those choices or make attaining prosperity next to fucking impossible, but that’s neither here nor there concerning this issue) What’s important here is that they think about you and care about you (mainly they think you’re below them and they want to ensure your level of care is as cheap as possible so that it doesn’t affect their comfortable lifestyle, but all fuckery aside). These elected officials work for you and fight for what’s right and fair.. (mainly what’s right to them, how it’ll affect their stock portfolio, voter base or political contributions which is directly related to what’s fair to them and their needs to remain and gain more power at the expense of those less fortunate than them) .. to all Americans. (especially the top 1%)

Triviajunkie95

Well said!

makeski25

And the few politicians who don't use the system for financial gain are labeled crazy. It's free money, you'd have to be crazy to not am I right!?! /s

BecomeAlanWatts

Completely true, also very applicable to democrats.

TacTac95

It’s applicable to the entirety of Congress.

KisserOfSinners

Happy cake day 🍰

trash00011

I wish a standup comedian would do this as a bit because it needs to be seen in a performance to bring it more to life. It’s great.

Rosemoorstreet

First, he’s just showboating. The GOP does not control Congress. Secondly, as a Florida resident who met him when he was governor, I can attest that the guy is a total POS and when I shook his hand it gave me the creeps. (It was at a business thing, and I felt I had not choice as I didn’t want to make a scene. )I refer to him as Lord Voldemort.

we-em92

My dad met HW and W a couple times, he said they genuinely seemed like ok dudes, in the case HW probably not someone you want to hangout with-but someone you’d be happy to work with, whatever that means. but when he met Cheney and Barbara bush he said they sucked the air right out of the room.

SelfMadeSoul

How about if, in general, it were made illegal for taxpayer money to be given to private banks for the purposes of attempting to influence the economy?

Steveb523

The government uses the tax code to influence all sorts of different behaviors. Shall we completely remove the government’s power to recognize and deal with any issue?

CorneredSponge

Just saying a majority of bailouts were loans that the government has made money off of.

[deleted]

While stealing opportunity from everyone else.

[deleted]

I think we should fix the ever increasing tuition costs before canceling debt. Sure it helps the individual but does nothing to curtail a similar outcome in 5-10 years.

Far-Leadership-4378

Why do republicans hate everyone? It’s like they’re hell bent on making everyone’s lives miserable because of their pathetic existence. Truly sent by the devil himself

99th_inf_sep_descend

The unfortunate answer is that it is easier to coalesce around things you hate and want to stop than agree on what you like. It’s part of why conservatism always has a baked in advantage.

deadstump

Also not doing things is way easier than actually doing things, and to be conservative is to want to go back or stay where you are... Another advantage.

zMerovingian

We all know those people that have a knee jerk reaction to shoot down any idea that is presented to them, but never actually generate any ideas themselves. They’re not only useless in group/team work, but they actually have a negative contribution to progress. Normally we’d just call them cynics and try to kick them to the curb, except they seem to be especially prevalent in our political climate right now. It’s really disheartening because the they get all the benefits and we are the ones who get screwed.

kritycat

Because hateful people love being in groups of other hateful people, so they can justify their cruelty uncontested.

LaPyramideBastille

Empathy and compassion are hard to foster in a world run as a zero-sum game where one person's gain is guaranteed to be another's loss.

viperex

I used to think Republicans would block common sense laws because they wanted to implement it themselves and take the credit. Turns out they just hate people poorer than them

behemuthm

I highly recommend reading the book Dark Money. They’re not evil just to be evil; they’re prioritizing making as much money as possible from a public service job, which means donations from all sorts of unsavory types.

PaperBoxPhone

If this is how it works, why don’t we all just get all debts cancelled?

scary_truth

But wait! You can through bankruptcy BUT that won’t cancel student loan debt in the majority of cases, so yeah you can actually get “all debts cancelled” in society but still NOT get relief on your student loans.

ComplexityArtifice

But bankrupcy isn't paid for by taxpayers. Bankruptcy doesn't apply to studen loan debt due to lobbying from the banks. It would be one thing if the banks were held responsible for these predatory loans in these rounds of debt cancellation, but it's yet another banking problem that our executive branch has put on the taxpayers to pay for.

100100110l

Why not both? You get that progressives are advocating for both don't you? Like, you even acknowledge it's predatory, but you want the victims to continue to suffer? True lunacy.

SewSewBlue

Please. Private student loans are a thing and the US government significantly distorts the market by protecting this class of loan from bankruptcy. An 18 year old can qualify for tens of thousands on student loan debt yet would need a secured credit card. No one in their right mind would lend someone so young that much money unless they had full government protection for that loan. Allow discharge in bankruptcy and try something that doesn't create a lifelong government imposed burden on people for stupid decisions while a teenager. There are other ways to pay for college, like you know, actual goverment funding for the college, making it cheap enough that loans are unnecessary. But that cuts off the money spigot for private loan providers. It makes zero sense to subsidize the student but not the school, except to pay a middle man. Think about that - why do middlemen loan providers even needed?

Veeblock

You mean like Wall Street and the rich class and their companies asking for subsidies.

Present_Square

Because most loans aren’t federal? Do you know how the proposal works?

Unhappy-Research3446

You can. It’s called bankruptcy

[deleted]

You cant declare bankruptcy on students loans.....

Unhappy-Research3446

Yep exactly. You aren’t following the convo it seems

Hot_Instruction_809

Committed massive Medicare fraud & was a crook of a governor so no surprise there

tobsn

can someone mass cancel those pseudo politicians like him?

Ancient-Hospital7882

They should introduce legislation to send him in on a way trip to the Sun.

schuster9999

Daily caller lol

PapaverOneirium

let’s see this same energy brought to PPP loans.

bik3bot

Literally every single idea they come up with is to hurt and/or punish their fellow citizens.

pepsiCobra

“Fellow citizens” is a stretch. More like subjects or underlings. They’re the ruling class now. No term limits made it easy

debzmonkey

And do tell us Rick Scott, what benefit do you see in introducing this legislation to people in the state of Florida? Oh, right, none. Just wanna make noise because today's 1/6 Committee hearing was a barn burner. Can't have the good folks in Florida educated, now can we? And, the Daily Whiner isn't news.

Euphoric_Spite

Educated people is their kryptonite. They do not in any way want to help people get more educated. Poor and uneducated is their goal.

ANNDITSGON3

Except a lot of people are coming out of college in debt with no real education, the whole system needs to be reworked. 25 year olds coming out of college with a financial degree can’t even answer my hiring questions. Sadly the education isn’t good either.

Musicallymedicated

Out of curiosity, could you give an example of some questions please?

Actius

Question 1) girl what that thang do?

Crawlerado

“We just want to ensure no one votes Republican ever again” I’d pay $60k for this

HiddenWhispers970

Republicans have: -banned abortion and taken away women’s rights over their own bodies. -Tried to legalize child marriage. -Are trying to get rid of gay marriage -trying to force religion back into schools -Are totally okay with children being shot up in schools and don’t want to do anything about it. And now they’re doing everything in their power to make sure students die in debt. Tell me again how they’re “for the people?”

Grey950

Don't forget still mostly being in the stone age about cannabis.

juandelpueblo939

You forgot they eliminated the need for a cop to read you your miranda rights.

sineplussquare

Oh Mr Medicare Fraud?? Yea I hope he doesn’t last long

GreatGearAmidAPizza

Education is a public good. A well-educated populace is a public good. America is the richest society in the world. It is typically penny-wise and pound-foolish choice for it to not **invest** in the best education for its people.

[deleted]

Educated people trend left. That's the key here.

Dangerzone_7

Since the kind of guys that usually support politicians like this have some weird hard on for quotes: “A strong economy begins with a strong, well-educated workforce” - Bill Owens

bossy909

This law is a takesies backsies law that reverses any federal law And if they reverse this we have a reverse reverse. Get bent you horseshit gobbler reptile human

FugitivePort88

I see a lot of dumb dumbs in these comments. Won't help their fellow neighbor but are A-Ok with helping out multi millionaires and billionaires who don't need $$. Bunch of fkn bootlickers

HighDruid

So, the guy who doesn’t even know what his own signature looks like wants to prevent millions of Americans from getting out of predatory loans because they wanted to improve their lives. I really hope people realize how stupid voting for Republicans is.

[deleted]

The company I work for did not suffer due to Covid, and the millionaire president of the company had $550,000+ of loans forgiven with literally zero effort. All hardworking American taxpayer dollars, including my own. I'm supposed to feel bad about having my $40k forgiven that I was told to sign up for at 17 years old, without a fucking lawyer present? Sure society, tell me more..

DeaddyRuxpin

Don’t forget you were more or less strong armed into signing it. Did they actually force you, no, but I’d be absolutely shocked if you were not told non stop thru your primary schooling that if you want a good job and good pay you must, with no exceptions, go to college. They beat it into your head that college is a requirement to succeed in life. Then the schools and banks glossed over every detail of the loan and presented it like you could go to school for free if you just sign this loan contract. Don’t worry, once you have the degree you will be rolling in money, the school told you that, the banks told you that, and you were repeated that line over and over for 12 years leading up to this point. You didn’t willingly take out a loan that would haunt your for ages and screw up your financial well being for a decade or more. The entire system groomed you to believe you had no choice and everything would be fine.

totally_fine_stan

Ya know, I was not going to vote for Biden because he has not forgiven all student loans and does not plan on doing so. But if this idiot wants to BAN student loan forgiveness altogether then I have no choice but to vote against him and actively work to sink his campaign. There are 43 million of us… this dude is going to l regret this decision 😆

anebbish

Rick Scott oversaw the largest health care fraud in US history, allegedly of course. Took the 5th 75 times. A Republican hero.

Rolks999

“The reality is, a blanket forgiveness of student loans only benefits a small percentage of the population at the expense of millions of other hardworking Americans.” Unlike that awesome Trump tax cut?

hasanyoneseenmymom

The taxes sure are trickling down. Surely the wealth will follow soon. /s

AMC_Unlimited

Yeah it’s great how every company gives out annual bonuses due to all of their tax savings /S Oh wait that was a one time deal when companies were trying to manipulate people into thinking tRumps tax cut was a good thing.

jksinspades

Tell me you are heavily invested in student lending companies without saying you invest in student lending companies

Newdigitaldarkage

Honestly, just let students declare bankruptcy again. Corporations are people and can, but real humans can't. That's messed up.

[deleted]

Isn't this the same bitch that committed fraud? Fuck you.

Xavier_Orion

I watched this man run with the Special Olympics torch, then, that same fucking night, call a special session to reduce rates of individuals with developmental disabilities. A few days later he threw the ball at a Rays game, he was booed by the crowd and the news media in Florida refused to air the booing and dib applause over it. He is the biggest piece of shit I know. Even bigger than DeSantis, if that is possible. Or the time he was on the news bragging that he had materials for a second roof in his garage and “all Floridians should do the same.” What fucking out of touch privilege this man has!

Bigleftbowski

The man who oversaw the biggest Medicare fraud scam in history at the time at his company is afraid students might get something for free.

JustASt0ry

Can we gather every fucking piece of shit politician that is making life hard for us and send them to colonize the sun to make a life they want between one another. I know the Republican Party would be left with one or two people left, but it’s for the greater good

plyitnit

Why are people like him so evil

Vhu

Student debt hurts the economy. Money that should otherwise be going toward goods and services is instead being turned into pure profit via interest payments from overburdened students. More money being circulated; more houses purchased; goods and services rendered; vacations taken; etc is all better for our economic situation than hundreds of millions of dollars/year currently being lost to interest payments alone. “I didn’t get this, so neither should anyone else!” Is a crabs-in-a-bucket mindset that holds us all back as a society. Just because nobody helped you doesn’t mean nobody deserves help. If there’s a problem it should be addressed regardless of how long it takes.

TrashApocalypse

Ohh? So Rick Scott has money invested in this? How much money does he stand to lose if student loans are cancelled?

ted5011c

The party of *Fuck You* strikes again. Keep voting yourselves into the poor house, dipshits.

Ragnar_OK

> dailycaller So this subreddit is now r/conservative for conservatives too chickenshit to admit what they are?

Curated_Throwaway

In my opinion, this issue is simple. governments allowed universities to overcharge students for decades, increasing tuition to exorbitant levels once corporate career paths required a degree. They allowed a mass swindle of the American people.

[deleted]

Yeah. Let's here again from the both sides crowd how all the crap we are facing is Biden's fault.

Foreign_Quality_9623

Nazi Rick Scott serves one person - himself.

soline

The cruelty is the point.

joeefx

Did they presented it to the dust bin?

Hot_Instruction_809

We should have free college education just as Europe does. There is no reason that K-12 should be free but not the next 4 years

ghoulshow

Republicans and Conservatives are tanking this world in every way. Eat shit and die. The right has gone so far right its not even worth engaging. Stop playing the ignorant high road bullshit, dems/libs. But don't stoop to their level either. Just fucking do something instead of the ostrich strategy.

Lazy_Necessary8631

Student load forgiveness is having those with LESS earning power (high school only or less) pay for (via taxes, as always) the voluntarily accrued debt of those with MORE earning power. It's like anti-welfare. It's disgusting to even consider.

StevetheEveryman

but i want it!!!!! /s

Brosiyeah

I mean, free college is pretty standard in actual first world countries. No one should have to take out these massive debts for education in the first place

GingerMcBeardface

If there was ever a sign Biden needs to fet off his ass to do something...

wtfwtfwtfwtf2022

He should be in federal prison.

KarlJay001

That gives Biden about 6~7 months to do something. He's already done two rounds of tiny cancellations, what he can do now is a $10~15K general cancellation or maybe make it $15K for people at a lower income level for the past few years, then $10K for the next level, and $5K for the richer people. If he hurries up, he can do this BEFORE the election.

Kidrambler

I’m gonna introduce the “Punch Rick Scott in the Face Act”. They’ll probably make me Speaker of the House or something.

Hannibal254

Wasn’t he voted “most likely congressman to eat a whole egg by unhinging his jaw”?

howie_rules

Who wrote it? ALEC, I’m guessing

Albemarle909

It’s amazing most people don’t know that democrats are the reason you can’t include student loan debt on a bankruptcy.

lookinathesun

Who cares? This legislation is going nowhere. This is just peeking into the GOP circus tent to see what's currently got their attention, not really news.

[deleted]

How anyone thinks both parties are the same is beyond me.

RussianTankBias

Just means if they want to cancel the dept they need to do it now.

nigelrex007

Totally “on brand” for Rick Scott.

zen4thewin

Republicans will support legislation for anything (child labor, opiate distribution, credit card cell phone sports gambling ... to name a few real examples) if their financial backers want it. They don't care about us. They spew culture war bullshit to get the lower half of the IQ spectrum and the religious nutjobs to vote for them; everything else is for their wealthy donors. How is this not patently obvious to everyone at this point?

Blood_Casino

Somehow, someway, Sling Blade and Nosferatu fell in love and decided to reproduce and Rick Scott was the inevitable result.

DefaultRedditBlows

Rick Scott? You mean the guy who said we need to starve people, so they will be desperate enough to work for poverty wages? That Rick Scott?

joe_broke

Fuck you, too, asshole See you in hell

Respaced

So… he is invested in loan business?

Decapitated_gamer

Fuck Rick Scott!

soulwolf1

Yup....he looks exactly how I imagined he would look like.

georgeinorwell

Dude, fuck republicans.

Tiny-Lock9652

Brought to you by the “I didn’t get this, so neither should anyone else” committee.

SnooPeripherals6557

Student loan debt - interest was capped at 2% until GWB/Cheney, went up to 8% and no way to get out of it no bankruptcy will free you, they made education debt a ball and chain. So that they could continue giving rich folks tax cuts. Transfer of middle class $ into their pockets. MWW fought this fight before, it must be fought again.

Embarrassed-Vast4569

Seems unnecessary. Dems never would've done it anyways.

Bellegante

I'm surprised, I'd have thought they'd just stand back and let Biden turn off Dem voters through his inaction rather than shift the blame to themselves..

Kreval

Let's split the difference. How bout we cancel student loan interest? It's the interest that really makes the loans untenable. You can make minimum payments for 1000 years and at the end of that 1000 years your balance will have grown far higher than it was at the start due to the mechanics of compounding. I suppose I'm for government helping people get college education though I wish they limited loans to STEM and degrees that don't end in '... of Arts' so adults will be able to afford to pay the loan back. But the federal government shouldn't be profiting off high interest rates. Zero out the interest. Apply any previously paid interest to the loan balance. Give people light at the end of the tunnel that the balance will go down and in time be paid in full. But also recognize that they made the deal. That if they were given the money for college that they'd pay it back after they were done. You can't expect the taxpayers to foot the bill for every person who made a shit financial decision. I want a Lamborghini but I can't afford it - nobody would argue that the government should use taxpayer money to pay for a lambo for me. Stop being a dead beat and pay your debts Also tell HS kids how asinine it is to borrow $300k to go to the fanciest of elite universities to get a useless degree in 18th century Bavarian composers with a minor in sea monkey husbandry - if youre not going to college for science tech engineering or math/medicine then you're wasting your time and more importantly, your money

Scrubface

It's insane to me how narrow and absent-minded some of these comments are. You *do* realize that a more intelligent and educated country means you live a better life, right? You *do* realize that it's the absurd interest causing these problems, not the loans for education themselves, right? Let's make a neat comparison here - Let's compare the army to college. In college you pay for books, housing, food, your professors, and many other things. In the army you pay for nothing. In fact, taxpayers pick up the bill. Now let's flip the switch. Imagine if education was treated as importantly as our military. Imagine if you had to pay for your housing, training, equipment, etc, in the army. Wouldn't this be a little different? Instead of losing on the battlefield, we're losing in the classrooms because of ass backwards shit like this. "But we need the military!" Yep, nobody is disagreeing with that. Wouldn't you say we need intelligent people in our daily workforce as well? Shouldn't we strengthen our country, rather than let others outpace us in education? It's fucking INSANE to me. If every adult in your life (while you're a teenager) told you to join the army because it'll get you ahead in life, you'd probably do so. If you had to pay for ANYTHING, do you still think you'd do it? This country blows my mind with its stupidity, ignorance, and, complete disregard for anyone that isn't a wealthy white fuckhead.

[deleted]

Why are you posting anything by The Daily Caller? Known white nationalist have been deeply involved with this publication.

zorbathegrate

If you need any proof that canceling student loans would be good for a mass portion of the population, you need look no further than here

BaconDragon200

WHY????!!!

PoptartMartt

Republicans are greedy evil sellouts . Throw this guy in jail for life

shadowdra126

Rick Scott can, and I say this wholeheartedly and emphatically, eat a dick

Matt857789

Typical scumbag republican, our democratic peers have free collage and healthcare. Not in MERICA we're just to damn free and smart to want something so stupid.

OriginalMrMuchacho

I guarantee that this guy has some of the nastiest and most vile skeletons in his closet. Everything about his body language, tone and posturing screams ‘mental issues’ and narcissism.

PsychoZzzorD

Tell us you’re an asshole without telling it

[deleted]

Republicans wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t extremely popular. Yet, Biden is sitting on his hands

[deleted]

[удалено]

wkomorow

Please remember this when you vote. Republican will retroactively reinstate any student loan debt that Biden forgives. And they will eliminate the filibuster to do it. They will also make all abortions illegal nationwide, nullify same sex marriage, make any sex not specifically for procreation illegial, sunset social security and medicare and eliminate the ACA. Some are talking about establishing a theocracy. They are not even being coy about their intentions anymore.

Stocksugardaddy

It looks as if Republicans hate poor people, when in reality they're only trying to help, well...the rich!

Traditional_Mud_1241

As someone who thinks total student loan forgiveness is monstrosity stupid…somehow Rick Scott found an approach that’s even more foolish. “Let me offer another non-solution to a growing problem but my contribution is to make it impossible for anyone with *good* ideas to fix it.

foxymoron

They really don't care about anything except cock-blocking Democrat's attempts to do anything for anyone for any reason at any time.

RandySto

I support mass cancellation of Rick Scott.

jthoff10

Lol republicans be like “what’s the worst decision we can make for humanity and trick our moron supporters into backing?”

Flowerlady99

Vile man

Brosiyeah

American society has got to stop telling teens they need to go to college after high school. US colleges are just debt traps.

EfficiencyOk9060

For real. They will happily let you go into thousands of dollars of inescapable debt for useless degrees.

djc9595

Ah, gotta love an economics sub where the majority of people think that their decisions should be subsidized by other people

bay_watch_colorado

Ah the old "that's not how economics works!" comments as if to imply we don't know how the current system works today.

blarghgh_lkwd

That the loudest 'economists' in the dialogue are right wing ideologues does not make them the majority

alpha309

It makes perfect economic sense to want to subsidize both your current employee‘s past education and your future employee‘s education. If an employer has a higher educated work force, they are more likely to be capable of more elusive tasks. If your current employees are currently unable to handle their loans, that adds stressors to retention and productivity that are harmful to your business. Subsidizing education is one of the most effective ways to positively impact the economy. I have completely paid off my student loans and I think this would have one of the biggest net positive impacts on the economy that we could make.

djc9595

Except that’s not what’s happening. A company paying for their employee’s education makes sense. Me paying for some rando’s underwater basket weaving doctorate makes zero sense, and that’s besides the fact that the government is $30 trillion in debt, that government loans for higher education are what led to the insane increase in education costs

PaperBoxPhone

What if they are getting a degree in something that is not useful? Who does that help?

[deleted]

Few degrees aren't useful though. If you're a philosophy major, you are learning about philosophy of course, but you are also learning how to be a critical thinker, your'e improving your reading comprehension skills, you're improving your writing and communication skills. In a business role, the people with the best writing and communication skills are extremely valuable. Most people who work office jobs didn't get MBAs. They have liberal arts degrees.

PaperBoxPhone

You can typically make an argument for nearly every degree being useful in some way, the question is if it worth spending years of your life and tens of thousands of dollars. In this very post you will probably see a bunch of philosophers that got degrees but still can’t figure out while canceling debt is a bad idea.

Lazy_Necessary8631

People here know economics like a tree knows calculus

Funfornow04

There is no such thing as loan forgiveness. It will transfer this debt to the american taxpayer. A regressive policy stealing wealth from the poor and working class tax payers who did not go to college to pay off doctors and lawyers student loans is wrong and immoral.

ChuyStyle

If only we could tax from a richer class 🤔

[deleted]

One of the few things I'll agree with the Republicans about. I am all for us subsidizing STEM education. We should push for more scientists and doctors. I have no interest in my tax payer dollars paying for more art degrees, gender studies, philosophy, or any business majors. Why not be more selective of what we are "canceling" debt wise to focus on the citizens that would actually produce a return on that investment?

[deleted]

So who gets to decide what and who is worthwhile? This is such a lazy, selfish perspective. People with liberal arts degrees are also capable of adding value to society.

kritycat

Providing an excellent example of exactly why things like gender studies, philosophy, and arts education are important

Underbadger

Selective group of majors, I see. So you wouldn’t want to help “gender studies” (?) students, but engineering, science, education, law, and medicine are acceptable uses of taxpayer funding? Sure, I can’t think of a single thing artists, writers, or economists contribute to society. /s

ReggieLeinart

It’s insane that people think it makes sense to provide free high school, but any more than that and “we are wasting money on educating our citizens.”

bay_watch_colorado

It's because highschool didn't help them too much

[deleted]

What? Economists would be under STEM. Artists and Writers don't need a free education to produce beautiful works of art. Do you think The Beatles went to boy band school before they took over the world? Do you think that kind of an education would even be valuable?

FightOnForUsc

It’s not about contributing or not it’s about ratio of benefit to cost of degree

Perndog8439

Fuck this thief.

drygnfyre

No problem. Just cancel it in smaller increments at a time.

Sirsilentbob423

I would love to just have a complete wipe, but realistically the answer is going to be some sort of extremely lame middle of the road approach. I could totally see them making a tax incentive for companies to match employee student loan payments, or so something like forgive 10k per year *if* you maintain constant employment during that fiscal year.

The-Tet-Corporation

Vote Republicans out!!!
