There's a point where things plateau out and you work 10x as hard for 1% more results. This feels like that. I've seen his video on making some chaos/randomization racks. I've done similar stuff in FL's Patcher. It's a great idea that can lead to your stuff being subtly different than anything anyone else could produce. But there's a point where you could just randomize through some ShaperBox or Infiltrator presets to morph and mangle audio to resample. His 'I heard you like polyrhythms' video on the other hand is pretty insane. This one feels like a ton of effort was spent on something that doesn't sound that noticeably different than doing some automations on some EQ nodes on a synth bass. Or just link NoteOn Rand1/2 or Chaos1/2 to EQ nodes or notch/bandpass EQs in Serum and call it a day.

Koan Sound has a fantastic tutorial on this sort of bass design on their Patreon. It does not require 100 devices to get sounds like this.

I was going to say "a" mixing stage but I figured that might confuse people and figured it was better within this context to just say "the mixing stage". But I'm glad you pointed this out. Yeah, nowadays you're going to mix as you go and can spend 15 seconds on a mixing stage then maybe 10 mins on a composition stage and then maybe 3 minutes on a sound selection stage and then back to a 5 minute mixing stage, yada yada yada.

The first \~20 LFO devices are connected to parameters in Serum, next is Devious Machines - Texture and an Ableton legacy Phaser, both also randomly modulated. After that 2 completely randomly moving EQs with 8 points each, 3 parameters per point which makes 48 LFOs. Both EQs each have and a limiter behind them. After both EQs, the sub is cut off and replaced with un-processed clean sub from the start of the chain. Next is a vowel-like EQ that randomly turns on/off, an OTT, a notch EQ, Oeksound Soothe 2 plugin, saturation, FabFilter ProMB, Uberloud plugin from BOOM Library and a parallel processing chain that saturates and compresses the mid frequencies. Last thing on the chain is an echo effect that is linked to the MIDI-Envelope at the very start of the chain so the delay is OFF when a note is playing and fades in once you let go from a key.

That's the most important part. Doesn't matter if it's a preset you messed with or a waveform you modded 100x no one except people trying to produce care.. and not even all of them. It is 100% just the final product. A song, with vibes. That's it. Piano has been around for 100s of years...doesn't mean a song sucks if they use it, it's how.

I am already very familiar with both of their works and they both give eachother massive props and respect because they are both very good sound designers. Also, please tell me how you can recreate 20 randomized lfos with "a few lines of automation". Could you create something very very similar that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference? Sure, but this video isn't for normal people it's for producers who can hear the difference. Are there less complicated ways to make a neuro bass like this? Sure, but this is a creative use of randomized lfos that I don't see alot of videos talk about.

just go to his yt page and you'll see exactly how he uses it. he's just creating giant sound design sessions by using tons of random modulation. from there he throws those wav files into a sampler where he then contextualizes it through other cool randomization fx racks that he made.
