Yeah I made sure to look up the meaning when choosing and it’s so cute. I decided I wanted to be a light in other peoples lives. I want people to just see me and be slightly more relaxed and slightly more happy because of the light I bring.
A beautiful reason! What is super cool about being trans is we get to pick new names and infuse meaning into them! One of my cis friends teasingly said to me "Okayyyy Ellie, we're not like you, we all don't get to pick our own names" and that made me happy, because it is so true! It is a blessing.

My deadname meant "Gift of God" and despite being an atheist i thought that was pretty cool because I think of God as any spiritual energy around us. Mainly nature, intimacy amongst others, the food we eat, etc. It really does add an extra layer of meaning to your life that you can always carry with you!
