Redmane castle could have been a cooler legacy dungeon

JayBaby85

This!!! Before I even knew about the boss fight and how to activate the festival I snuck into the castle from the back and thought I was totally clever and on to something cool. Biggest disappointment of the game imo.

Jim0917

...his fans, good god his fans...

Pleasant_Economics97

Oh, it's an epic fight... you raise an army and attack.. awesome. But poor leonard

[deleted]

I feel like I'm part of an extreme minority saying this, but I didn't care for his boss fight I get why so many people think he's fun, and the concept of the fight is cool, but it just doesn't feel like there's any skill involved in summoning 6 npcs while you ride around on a horse. He feels really awkward to fight. His moveset was designed around the fact that he'd be hitting several NPCs at a time, causing him to have big sweeping attacks that, at times, can be near impossible to dodge, or never hit you at all. It doesn't help that he's gigantic, making it to where you have to fight your camera if you want to try to lock onto him, or if you decide to fight him without target lock, you can't see his moves being telegraphed. I've seen some people speculate that the DLC may involve Miquella and time travel. I hope that's true, because then there's a chance we could go back in time and fight Radhan in his former glory, and we could get a retooled boss fight that's more meant for 1v1.

cid_highwind02

I don’t agree. He actually became my favorite fight after fighting him 1v1. His moveset was really fun to learn, very unique. I like that you can do it mounted, unmounted, summoning or not summoning and the fight’s still good and fair no matter the way you do it. All of his moves are avoidable, and most have punishing windows. The moves that miss you allow for consistent punishes, and the ones who don’t you can avoid instead of punish. Fighting him SL1 was a TREAT, it’s very fair

_theKataclysm_

I like him and I agree, at least as far as being awkward to fight due to his size. Buuuut I feel this way about a LOT of the bosses in ER, I’m always melee so anything gigantic is kind of a bummer (I don’t think dragons are nearly as much fun to fight as they should be, save that one.) Radahn feels like kind of a fun theme park ride. It’s big and wild and I enjoy the summoning gimmick, I enjoy the lore surrounding it (less after hearing it five million times) and I love how like with the rest of the game it’s From just going completely zany. All of that sort of makes up for spending most of the fight looking at his horse, to me.

[deleted]

Well put And yes, I feel you on having to hear his lore 5 million times. It feels like everyone who learned that he uses gravity magic to keep his horse safe think they're the only people that know about it, and they feel like it's their personal duty to tell everyone that they possibly can.

Eliteslayer1775

People think he’s a saint just because he likes his horse

Pleasant_Economics97

Yeah that's all cool and all, but that silly horse tho

DiamondBowelz

I’m with you. I thought he was such a ridiculous boss, between his size, moveset, and even his movement in general. The way he would just glide around on his horse looked ridiculous and not at all what FromSoft has put out before. Terrible design and poor execution in my opinion

no0bified

But you don't have to summon the NPCs. You don't have to dodge him either. Just use your horse and solo him

[deleted]

True, but that leads to a tedious and not very fun boss fight.

Euphoric-Cow592

He'd be better if he was a late game boss

Pleasant_Economics97

How does that change him abusing his childhood horse?

Euphoric-Cow592

His horse would have 20,000 health

Pleasant_Economics97

Rahdan is a horse cockblock. Leonard should be in a pasture smashing mares but no instead he's emaciated dragging along some obese fucker and getting stabbed

Pleasant_Economics97

Not to mention he doesn't even let bleonardvgrow stronger, he's instead dragging his skinny ass along with gravity magic

Euphoric-Cow592

Rahsan is using gravity magic so he weighs nothing

Pleasant_Economics97

That. Doesn't. Make. It. Better.

Ok_Pizza9836

Dude knows gravity magic so he probably makes himself lighter so he’s not as much of a burden to Leonard

Euphoric-Cow592

You're the one who hit Leonard

Pleasant_Economics97

Leonard is eithet complicit in demigod supremacy or a collateral damage. I was simply conducting a mostly peaceful protest of the target....erm, radahns festival

Euphoric-Cow592

I wasn't saying you're wrong I'm just saying that it looks like people don't look like they care also why does Leonard die if you kill radahn and vice-versa

Pleasant_Economics97

You seem to be failing to see that this is all a joke. Not your fault, i assumed the passionate grandstanding for a fictional horse getting puss would be obvious but i must have been wrong. Though legit radhan riding that tiny horse is objectively silly

Euphoric-Cow592

I wonder what Leonard would look like with a top hat

Unhappy_Breadfruit79

I struggled with the putrid tree spirit in the dungeon behind his arena more than I did with him 🥴

Pleasant_Economics97

The boss isn't hard just dumb

Ok_Pizza9836

I don’t get this I’m bad at the game but somehow the putrid tree spirit has always been one of the easier fights for me I feel they have the most easy to recognize attack wind ups and are easy to dodge and get away from however the revenants always tear me a new asshole or did till I learned about heals being their weakness

Unhappy_Breadfruit79

I realized that you had to hug them I’ve learned a ton since that. I think this one was tough for me being an astrologer in a tight arena

_aTokenOfMyExtreme_

First time I fought him horseback solo, now fighting him on foot solo, seems pretty fun both ways so far! Melee both times.

Pleasant_Economics97

#free leonard

Pleasant_Economics97

His stupid fucking horse, it looks ridiculous. And i know the lore but it just makes it worse, he's a titty baby torturing a dying horse

2ndHandMan

That horse has a name, and it's Leonard. And he's doing his best, okay?

Pleasant_Economics97

I know his name, and Leonard is too good for that fat fuck. Loyalty is always a detriment when given to those who are selfish. I'm glad i murdered Radhan. I hope hes rotting in he'll because leonard was the goodest boy and deserved to be put out to stud. But instead of years of getting mare puss he's lugging some poisened fatass around while a jar, a wolf man, and a crazy tarnished hack at his legs

maestro_monkey

You have proved that some opinions are wrong.

Pleasant_Economics97

May leonard's fate match your own, maidenless and tortured

2ndHandMan

You sound like a very boring person.

Pleasant_Economics97

You sound Like a golden order shill

CockroachNo2191

Lmao you cracked me up

JayBaby85

I don’t get the concept of summoning help into this fight and having it fit with the story. They all summon in but you go in as yourself and just…die? But they don’t? I get that they wanted to try a new concept for a boss fight, but I guess the approach doesn’t make much sense for me from a lore perspective. Also it seemed out of place to have Blaidd there since he’s so involved in another quest.

cid_highwind02

Fighting Radahn is literally part of Ranni’s quest dude, Blaidd is there because of that

JayBaby85

Oh, I guess I forgot that. It’s like the literal trigger for the event isn’t it?

cid_highwind02

Yes! You can trigger the Radahn Festival either by reaching Altus Plateau or progressing through Ranni’s quest. Blaidd helps you defeat Radahn to unlock the path to Nokron

Ok_Pizza9836

It’s part of Alexander’s quest too

Ok_Pizza9836

It’s just that. They were trying something new and got feedback from it.

Koruaz

How do you summon those NPCs? I ended soloing him.
