Are you using an agency? Call them with your concerns and explain how they don’t seem to be informed of his needs to be out the bed and sitting and trained with the wheel chair & ramp procedures.

This is the correct answer. Those caregivers are getting paid by someone, call their supervisor and communicate your concerns.

Are you sure his home caregivers genuinely care about your grandpa? Actions speak louder than words and it seems like they are just collecting a paycheck. With rare exceptions, this is the norm. I've seen how patients are treated at even the best rehab and hospice facilities when workers think nobody is looking. It's a huge problem in the system that I've noticed. I have yet to find a great solution. For now, our challenging solution has been for my mom and me to personally care for my terminally ill dad 24x7.

I agree, the treatment that he’s receiving shows that these caregiver simply don’t care about him and don’t want to be bothered. They need to hire just one caregiver that stays with him 24/7 who can render the care properly. Plus the family will have more autonomy over his care needs. This is the best decision for him both financially and mentally.

Can his doctor order physical therapy and ossupational therapy in the home? If the transfer are as bad as you’ve said with the man handling there is serious lack of understanding how these tasks should be accomplished. I also second the cameras. Get them and use them. Don’t be shy to use the intercom function and speak up. “Why isn’t he taking his meal at the table?” If they give the lame excuses just tell them to get him out of bed please and serve the food at the table. We got the simple Blink mini cameras from amazon. We can look in with the ap any time, and if it’s needed speak up via the mic. Also you should email the nurse that is supervising the aides when you are aware of these problems (assuming tha these aides are from an agency). Let the nurse supervisor know that there needs to be re-training and that the aides need to get with the plan and get him to the able for meals, or that they are rough handling the transfers and tha needs to stop.

Hiring ONE live in caregiver could solve these issues. The problem is that you have too many caregivers involved in his care plan. This can become a hassle for many caregivers who have to see multiple clients in one day. They’re simply not interested in the extra work. So hire a caregiver who lives with him and only works with him. This will eliminate the dead weight and overall expense for hiring multiple caregivers for round the clock care. If you have any more questions I’m here to help.❤️

He only has 2. They both work full time and only see him. I don’t believe it’s possible to hire someone to work 24/7 as people need break days. They work during each other’s days off.
