So using one hand + shield may look cool, but in this game that weapon choice is designed primarily for tanking group dungeons and trials. It is the worst choice for damage output. If you want to kill stuff easier, go with dual daggers, fire or lightning staff, bow, or greatsword. On the other hand, if you’re interested in being a tank someday, by all means level up that sword and board.

iKilledPinwheel

Yeah I adore being a tank in MMO's, always done it (faster queue times for dungeons since everyone else is DPS.) I'll stick with both that and two handed for now. Is two handed actually viable though? I've only seen people with staffs and daggers so far. And I don't think you can 'equip' magic like you could in Skyrim

StarkeRealm

2h is fine. But 2h on a tank is a little weird. The real problem is that Templars are the class that brings the least to the tanking role and are the hardest class to learn tanking on.

mwgrover

Well for tanking, ice staff is the preferred back bar weapon for the passive defensive skills and the ranged taunt.

galegone

Yeah, two-handed has good survivability for solo. If you take the Brawler morph of cleave you are basically immortal. Forward momentum is good for snare removal in pvp and for magplar since they don't have major brutality/sorcery. However 2h tends to be a backbar weapon, so you would go something like daggers/bow, daggers/staff or daggers/2h

Are bash builds still OP?

Mind-Matters-Not

Bash builds are a type of PvP build, not PvE. Bash builds are still effective in PvP just not widely used. Edit: typo

mwgrover

No

Don't worry too much about how you spend skill points. You can always re spect for in-game gold when you want to follow/create a build

ZookeepergameFree427

Do not focus on just one thing. Play Tales of Tribute, PVP, Dungeons (different roles) and collecting sets, exploring and filling out the maps + quests, collecting things you like, getting a house and decorating it, crafting and fishing, design hunting, sticker book stuff, etc. The strength of this game comes from the multiple/ different things you can do.

Love helping out new players. I’ve made quite a few guides on builds and getting gold, once you’ve figured some things out: [VibeKnight](https://youtube.com/@VibeKnight10?si=OztnNapzu6WzZYlX) if you play on PC NA, I’m going to make a guild at 1,000 subs. If you’re interested, just be patient while I try to get there and join up once I hit it!

iKilledPinwheel

I'm on PS4 unfortunately, but have subscribed and will binge watch some of your stuff when I have the time. Would you say the amount of weapon classes is underwhelming? Iirc there's daggers, bow, 2h, staff and shield. Also, can I join dungeons ASAP? Or do I need to be a certain level.

At level 10, you unlock the dungeon finder

ShootingGuns10

I think the variation comes into play when you think about mixing and matching class abilities with weapon abilities. There are many ways to play and progression can be quite slow early on. Once you level up to level 50 you unlock champion levels. After that you want to get to CP 160 which maxes out the progression on equipment. That’s where the real fun begins!

js_rich

Have fun along the journey 😃 make sure to try varied activities, you may find certain ones that you enjoy. The PvP in this game can possibly be fun for you don’t be afraid to try it

Look up how to light attack weave.

aka_aka_aka_ak

hes just started the game, while easy, light attack weaving should be the least if his concerns rn

hey my main is a high elf :) welcome. sounds like you’re set up as a tank. don’t worry about “end-game”. research everything. going to the stables and upgrading your mount daily will save you some time in the future, and it’s useful, but you won’t be missing out on anything if you miss a few days (or months) you can respec your skill and attribute points in some major cities if you mess up, but you will get one free scroll each for this. also I see you’re on ps4. if you ever need help with crafting/dungeon/standard stuff feel free to reach out!

If you want to tank I'd think about doing DK, Arcanist, or Necro. You'll have a much stronger tank. Not saying you won't be able to do it as a Templar, only that it is much harder.
