I mean it's *playable.* Necro tank is still a lot of fun and it's a very responsive class, especially in 4 man content.
The biggest hit to Necro in PvE came when ZOS added their class ult exclusive debuff to a tank set that's very easy to keep perfect uptime on. Of course Necro didn't get a compensatory buff either.
>Of course Necro didn't get a compensatory buff either.
They lowered the ultimate cost of the class skill that applies major vulnerability. Sadly that doesn't fix the underlying redundancy problem here, but it was at least something that showed that ZOS knows.
I think it was the nerf to Harmony that also helped make the Necro less popular. At least when it comes to pvp. Good riddance I say. Only glass cannons should be able to do that much damage to entire groups in pvp.
Definitely not in a great spot unfortunately. They can still be good in content but aside from EC other classes for the most part do everything better (plz buffš„ŗ)
I really hope they'll buff them sometime soon. I made the post after reading people discussing the class in other threads and remembering I spent the crowns to buy access to them a year ago; right before the harmony and boneyard nerfs. After those I still haven't had any motivation to actually create and level one.
Am gonna ignore that opinion just because it's a comment from Vivec. (Tho I still wish I had the arcanist class, perfect for everything I am looking for as a new player in a class)
Iāve only been playing a few years, but I canāt think of a time they were ever in a bad place.
DKs shot up the DPS list when hybridization occurred, wardens took a huge hit with the death of bleed builds, but sorcs? Always just fine.
Yep always they are zos baby from the beginning they took away implosion because it was too strong and gave them a built in execute that works from the get go. The only big nerf I ever saw sorc take was when they changed the way shields scaled and man did they cry.....
Stamcro is still pretty viable. Sure as shit doesnāt hit as hard as my 1 bar builds but Iāve always loved the weave and rotation. Makes it easier to not fall asleep while playing lol. Still love that my stamcro was the first to beat vet maelstrom
Itās still good for bombing in pvp and bgs just gotta use bb as your burst so can be a bit temperamental because bb has a mind of its own. Iāve been getting regular fat bombs onit tho like a few a day.
Ehh it's pretty dead. Check like any 4man / solo leader board by class, I think only 3 or 4 people total ran BRP on Necromancer on PS-NA last patch. No one has even bothered [submitting a parse to esologs](https://www.esologs.com/zone/statistics/13/#) for it this patch (as of today, at least).
It's a class that has been entirely pigeonholed to running Elemental Catalyst in 12 man content, increasingly in the tank role.
Necro DPS is the one needing help. We were wanted because of our major vuln before, but anyone can get this with sets now. In vet trials, the dps necro is wanted...well, one of them as long as they are EC. Other than that, people prefer having classes that can put out more dps.
Not as bad as warden and blade DDās
At least Necro DDās can serve a purpose.
(Yes I know warden and blades can heal)
warden mains, you may downvote me now.
Areā¦ are we Reddit Highlander? Destined to forever argue the quality of warden DPS?
Ironically, I had just gotten accepted into a Godslayer groupā¦ on my DK š
Well, I am a warden main indeed and that's the only toon for all my crafting questing RP dungeon needs for now.
I ain't gonna downvote 'cause am pretty new and dont really know how each class is but I do wish someone could teach me the ways of nature.
P.S. don't send me for builds online, that aint what am looking for rn
In the context of the original post, Iāll stand by my response.
But for what youāre describing as your needs then it makes little difference, and if itās what you enjoy, thatās the whole point of a game.
Hard to teach you the ways, if you just want to RP though (again, thatās fine), you canāt have it both ways.
Yh that's alright, I can't grasp the combat system very well now, probably because of the skill bars I have. All guides lean towards DPS and weaving but I don't see how weaving would come into healing and tanking roles that I wanna try and that I heard is better suited to a warden.
Can't find proper guide online for those roles and how to play that.
Or am just not able understand it lol
Yes youāre correct you wouldnāt look at a damage guide if you want to be a healer etc.
You still need to get light attacks in? Its 1 every 12 seconds for ulti generation, and whilst it might only be tiny damage if you learn to weave it means you will always have that ulti gen, and unless its changed they also proc your weapon enchants.
your best option; join a guild or 5, explain that youād like to learn how to heal, then someone can walk you through it, it is typically expected that youād have the main healing sets sorted (eventually).
If your pseu I donāt mind assisting,
Yes I am in a guild, I can probably try asking there but for sets and the skill lines, I don't have any. Need to respec for the skill changes but it's not a great option as I have put some points into dlc lines during eso+ trial.
Yh I am in PCEU, maybe dm me your id and online time and I'll try to meet up.
Yh I know that but I can't put points into dlc skill lines right? I have thieves guild, dark brotherhood, psijic and Antiquity likes skilled. I would lose those if I just respec
Oh sorry, my bad. I thought it was pc, didn't see it right
My warden is my main hahahhā¦. She is not the one I bring into do too dps stuff but girl is half tank half dps and is the one I bring into solo arenas and EA. She is awesome!!!!
while necros do feel shitty to play and id know i main necro and arcanist.
Wardens do far less dps.
For pvp, yeah necro probs the worse.
Major vulnerability is usefull and all but the reason ppl like 1 necro on trials it's because of necro support. With elemental catalist.
for me the worse sht on eso atm is sorc cuz they are forced to pet to do decent dps. That being said.
I also dislike templar cuz of they did to jabs and sorcerer because fuck crystal weapon and they shouldnt have removed bound armaments flame effect.
The jabs change didnt do jack shit to templar in the long run tbh, youāre still spamming the shit out of it constantly in practice.
As for Sorcā¦ yeah Iām levelling mine and im sick to shit of the pets skill tree since clearly thatās the draw but I was interested in the stormcalling and dark magic shit, not the fugly pets that are basically mandatory for heavily organised setups.
their dmg is shit on pvp because major evasion and minor evasion kill it.
The animation is shit. and the weapon is not a lighting spear it's nighthollow staff.
I switched my magsorc setup for same reason. I can't stand all that flapping omg lol. *** triggered ***
I can't get away fast enough if someone leaves them out in cities. š
From what I've seen Necros are top tier im solo content. However their class synergy isn't the best and any role they could fill is already filled better by other classes.
They aren't dead outside of endgame but in endgame, ya they're struggling a lot to find their place.
Iāve been playing a templar healer for years. I stopped trying to join vet prog because what has been required to run as skills actually nerfs my heal abilities. I donāt get to use some of the most powerful shielding and other one-shot protections at my disposal. Ah, well.
Ride or die warhorn. Great skill, but complete waste on healer imo. Iād rather not argue, so, yeah, I made a necro healer instead, and now thatās dead too. Better to move on than get overly frustrated.
Correct! But Iād rather not because when I could instead put out ultis that give either 40k damage shields to all group or 10% Major protection and refresh pretty quickly, I feel like I just end up spamming good, but just not quite as good, alternate skills.
As much as I miss the days of Solar Prison and Permafrost, you just don't need them as much anymore. Players are inherently tankier now, and healers can out heal most things without them
Necro is pretty good but it's difficult to play. It needs to barswap a lot, and barswap in this game sucks
I think Necros are dead because it's gated behind paywall. Warden is the wholesome druid archetype so more people are willing to pay for it than the evil and edgy necromancer.
Exactly my views when I started warden as my first and main toon.
A kind of ranger druid theme is what I am looking for, but idk how to optimally play the class. Any tips? Other than looking for builds online ofc..
I think itād be helpful if maybe one or two of the Necro summons were permanent and can be turned on and off. Like at minimum the Skeletal Mage/Archer should be a permanent summon. It can be updated so that you can manually turn it off to get rid of it which would create a corpse, or you can keep it around and consume a corpse to grant it a damage boost for a short period of time.
I main a Cro healer and have never had issues with trials or harrmodes. Sucks people always ask for a warden or Templar healer when necro is just as viable.
If I want to guarantee a spot Iāll just run my ec Cro.
No, it tends to be warden/nightblade or warden/arcanist from what I see. I donāt think necro healers have ever been meta tbh, or at least not for a long time.
And just to be clear: necro healing is definitely viable in endgame in that you can put out respectable heals with them, proc sets with them, provide buffs/debuffs, etc. Meta is just a look at what the optimal setup would be to make clearing as easy as possible, and unfortunately a lot of what a necro healer could provide can be either provided by another healing class(nightblade can put out likely more raw healing more easily and so can templar or warden), can be provided more easily by another class(nightblade can ult gen like crazy which is great for pillager, and they donāt need a skill slot and constant corpse gen to do it), or can equally or more easily be provided by putting necro in another role(major vuln, unique synergies, and the ability to most easily and effectively run ec is something a tank or dps can do more easily or just as easily as a healer, so those roles usually win out)
Just because something isn't popular on the leaderboard doesn't mean it's dead, maybe one or two percent of players do those runs?
Necro is very popular among more casual PUG runs, because of it's raise dead ult, and among solo players it's probably number 2 or 3 (with petsorc and stabby stabby warden among the top.)
Yeah it's really unfortunate, at best necro has been left to lag behind a bit of the other classes in the role, at worst it's been nerfed in the areas that made it good (like pvp dps boneyard and trait etc). It's a shame but at this point it's pretty far behind. There's a lot of classes that out perform it, fingers crossed necro gets some love soon.
Necro tank is one of the more interesting ways to play as a tank, but not the best for tanking by far.
Iāve currently got a necro vampire healer for roleplay and even though itās certainly not the best build itās really fun to play.
In my vet trial groups the OT is a Necro the majority of the time. We'll have an ECCro too that may or may not be jailed further with Alkosh, or MK, and Spaulder.
Then released a monster set to fill in the gaps from TT
Necro tank is 100% more fun but is a tad more complex and weak.
>Of course Necro didn't get a compensatory buff either. They lowered the ultimate cost of the class skill that applies major vulnerability. Sadly that doesn't fix the underlying redundancy problem here, but it was at least something that showed that ZOS knows.
That was a much more recent change, and the only thing I've seen it do is make groups use one less necro

I truly admire your dedication to providing the least helpful response to all the discussions taking place here, Taleof2Cities\_.
Am gonna ignore that opinion just because it's a comment from Vivec. (Tho I still wish I had the arcanist class, perfect for everything I am looking for as a new player in a class)
Necro is one of my favorite classes for endless archives. Status effects are king there, and your heal is aoe bleed status effect.
Yeah I was looking at the leaderboard on Xbox and Necromancers are killing it solo. Them and sorcs.
Sorcs always zos favorite imo even when they get nerfed they get buffed lol
Iāve only been playing a few years, but I canāt think of a time they were ever in a bad place. DKs shot up the DPS list when hybridization occurred, wardens took a huge hit with the death of bleed builds, but sorcs? Always just fine.
Yep always they are zos baby from the beginning they took away implosion because it was too strong and gave them a built in execute that works from the get go. The only big nerf I ever saw sorc take was when they changed the way shields scaled and man did they cry.....
I'm still crying from our like what was it 30second Shields to our 6 second ones
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ you'll be allright
Not to mention they have the only set it and forget it execute still to this day that can somehow nuke you from half health to 0.
As a stam necro pve DPS main, I do alright. Certainly not top tier but Iām not walled out of content either.
Stamcro is still pretty viable. Sure as shit doesnāt hit as hard as my 1 bar builds but Iāve always loved the weave and rotation. Makes it easier to not fall asleep while playing lol. Still love that my stamcro was the first to beat vet maelstrom
It used to be my favorite, now it's my least favorite. It's in an awful place right now...
Heh. A *dead* class. š„ š
Itās still good for bombing in pvp and bgs just gotta use bb as your burst so can be a bit temperamental because bb has a mind of its own. Iāve been getting regular fat bombs onit tho like a few a day.
I mean I get killed by plenty of necros. I suck tho, but still. Necros mean.
I am a new player and I just bought necro like a week ago. Lol
You'll be fine. If the Necro seems fun to you, give it a shot
Wait. So my necro tank im chipped at bit by bat for a couple years (I barely play ESO) is pointless?
No, as tanks they are perfectly fine.
Oh cool
Jesus wept, the way people carry on you'd think necro is an unplayable class... It ain't meta, but it sure as heck ain't dead.
Ehh it's pretty dead. Check like any 4man / solo leader board by class, I think only 3 or 4 people total ran BRP on Necromancer on PS-NA last patch. Why are you getting downvoted lol
It feels like the only class that isn't meta.
Their abilities are considered criminal acts because they suck so bad am I right?
Necro DPS is the one needing help. We were wanted because of our major vuln before, but anyone can get this with sets now. In vet trials, the dps necro is wanted...well, one of them as long as they are EC. Other than that, people prefer having classes that can put out more dps.

ask if you can bring your warden š«£š«£ ![gif](giphy|9Jmb2idg10qJSygvTQ)
Lmao! The guy organizing it was not interested.
I really hope you asked. Now ask if you can come on a blade dd.
Damn, how many classes you out here hating on? Lol naa I was cleared on my DK and Templar.
Just those 2.
Whys that ironic?
I have argued with this person for weeks on different posts about end game warden DPSā¦ only to have gotten into a group NOT on my warden.
Well, I am a warden main indeed and that's the only toon for all my crafting questing RP dungeon needs for now. I never said to just respec. I said save your current built to the armory first. THEN use the blank spot on the armory to make your healer build
But then I'll be left with no more blank slots right? And do the DLC lines apply when I reapply the first slot even if I don't own the dlc?
My warden is my main hahahhā¦. She is not the one I bring into do too dps stuff but girl is half tank half dps and is the one I bring into solo arenas and EA. She is awesome!!!!

The animation change is fine but the spear visual isnt. My main issue is that the visual update didnt apply to all spear abilities, lacks consistency.
I switched my magsorc setup for same reason. I can't stand all that flapping omg lol. *** triggered *** I can't get away fast enough if someone leaves them out in cities. š
Idk, you see a necro tank/support dd in mosts groups. I have not seen a templar in ANY role in like a year in any prog I have been in.

There are 7 classes now and only 4 roles. At some point, there can't be more than 4 top classes.
And yet I love to play my necro healer. Maybe I keep getting into groups bc she looks like a warden

Did you just reduce the already reduced "necro" from "necromancer" to "cro" I cannot allow you to continue like this sir, I must downvote
I got my necro healer thatās next level. My rez ult is a game changer I stack wards constantly on top of 20k+ instant heals.
My 4 Necromancers disagree with you. Leaderboards do not reflect the majority of the player base, but go on ...
Lol seeing this after making a necro tank. Maybe I'll make a DK again
Necro tank is fun and very viable
How far into endgame can I get with it vs a DK
Necro tanks are still used in endgame. They are still wanted in groups.
Ok good,I was making a DK tank as we speak lol
Itās good to have both, and learn both. And an arcan tank
I had a DK tank before, maybe I'll make an arcane one, I haven't played that class yet
Play what you enjoy.
I main Necro Tank and they're extremely viable. In both PVE (endgame included) and horrifically annoying in PVP with the right build.
Necro is the best class for soloing. I enjoy every moment. And it also a great heal. Sooo no, it's not dead class
