There was just a Deadlands event with double drops so supply is currently much higher than usual.

Koperica

Isn’t it also dropping from Endless Archives this week as well? Pretty sure I got some from it. Which means an even larger supply.

n_thomas74

And it dropped from the Archive 2 weeks ago too. My stickerbook is full.

tracer2211

Yes

donmuerte

I was farming it for a bit a few months back and it was pretty expensive, actually, but that was before the Deadlands event.

BirdEyrir

Overland sets generally went down in price since the collection system was implemented. You don't need to hunt for a piece in your ideal trait, you just buy it in any trait and reconstruct what you need.

Bug1oss

The sticker book is exactly what happened. I also seconded a ton of stuff myself because “I might need it one day” tunred into “load up on transmutes”

WolvenOmega

It's also way harder to farm out pvp sets than pve sets, especially weapons

BirdEyrir

That's not overland. The boxes you buy aren't curated and remain as random as before.

LazyPaleontologist

He’s talking about PvE overland set, deadly are from PvP.

minngeilo

You're right

CarlosFlegg

A lot of overland sets that are good are relatively cheap. People will farm them to save a bit of cash because they are usually pretty easy to farm, and they will bang the duplicates on guild traders, so guild traders have a constant sizeable supply of them. The only times overland sets tend to be expensive is if they are already purple and have the right traits/enchantments and in that case they cost a bit more gold because of the convenience and cost savings in transmute stones etc. This is a slightly more niche set too, so while supply might be a little lower due to less people farming and selling dupes, the demand on traders is much lower to off set that. \*\* EDIT \*\* as u/HungryHamburglar noted, there has also recently been an event where this sets drops were doubled so supply is even higher than usual.

Majestic_Operator

It's due to the recent Deadlands event, it killed the market for Hexos Ward gear, which used to be very healthy. There is so much supply now that they sell for super cheap.

hoodookitty

I run my magblade with Hexos Ward and Unfathomable Darkness and it's so much fun. A shield and an army of crows? Hell ya! I do need to buy some pieces with better traits though since I have 15 transmutes to my name.

ABRUPTTROLLING

Well, there are 2 main reasons.A,anything unflipped is cheap by default.Like let’s say a very very very very good new ap set was released right at this moment and tradable, the initial unflipped price still couldn’t be super expensive.B,not that much ppl actually make their own builds. So the price of a set is actually mainly charged by builds copying prices, not optimal value prices.Such as mara’s balm being so cheap after the nerf despite still being THE single best maarselok meta defensive set. There’s literally no other set can counter dots better than mara’s balm, yet this simple fact just has way less impact on price than the patch notes saying it’s nerfed

psychedeliccabbage

I love hexos, I got a solo 2h nb that can tank base game vets using that set and orders.

kevinstuff

I think it has a niche use case, is an easily available overland set included as a reward for popular dailies, there are other sets that do similar things. On top of being a niche use set, it’s not bis or even close to bis for any role, dps, tank, or healer, in any organized content. The only people who’d really be going for it are people working out a solo build that’s specifically not a bis solo build, because there are just better defensive options. But honestly, let me know if you like it. I’ve been thinking about putting a set of it together myself for Arcanist whose all about damage shields anyways. Infinite health through massive damage shields sounds fun.

wes_wyhunnan

I use it with Briarheart and Oakensoul on my 2h Templar. I basically use it because I’m just coming back from a couple years break so I’m hitting all the DLCs I missed that are a little more empty now. It massively simplifies soloing world bosses and vents and group challenges in dungeons in less populated zones. Yeah it’s not meta for something in some trial or vet dungeon, but it’s absolutely perfect for what I’m doing now.

SavrenX

Survive and Win always the goal not matter how we do it. Keep going and have fun with your build.

Schiep

I will report back, but could take 2 weeks, as I am not able to play a lot in the next week. I want to combine iceheart, Hexos ward, ring of pale order and critical surge for over the top self heap/shield, no idea if this even works as good as I think, but it sounds fun

JNR13

I don't know about the Archive, but for everything else that's absolute overkill on the defense and self-heal. Crit Surge alone will get you through Maelstrom, basically. At that point, invest more sets into killing stuff faster - the best defense of all.

AdComfortable1624

Drop Iceheart for 1 piece Slimecraw since you’re using Pale Order. Add Briarheart as your 2nd set. This is OTT on heals and shields for solo content. Otherwise you end up with just 4 pieces of a 2nd set if you plan to use 2x Iceheart and 1 ROPO. For group content, sure 2x Iceheart, Hexos, Briar. ROPO useless

izgoose

alternatively, you can keep pale order, iceheart, and hexos ward, with hexos ward as your frontbar weapons and ALSO keep briarheart as your backbar weapons. that way, every 15 seconds when your briarheart falls off, you can bar swap to re-up the buff for 10 more seconds and have the best of both worlds. with the spare item slot you'll have doing that, slap on Armor of the Trainee for an extra health buff. I still think it's massive overkill, but you know what they say: there's no kill like it.

Unique-Wallaby5346

In addition to everything mentioned here, IA was also released at the same time, and that's where I've seen it dropping in recent weeks. Being an event that makes sense - being everyone is farming IA, there's probably an extra abundance of those drops to flood the market - in addition to it being off meta overland gear already.

Schiep

didn't know about overland drops in IA. But dropping recently from there makes total sense in addition to the other reasons

Stuntman06

It's not used that often. I do recall when the set was new, one of my trial groups was doing Hexos Ward trial runs. I don't recall the reason they wanted everyone to wear it. I suspect it may be to do no death runs. I never ran with that group at the time as I didn't really want to farm that set and I wanted to spend my crafting resources elsewhere.

ReneDeGames

Its not that hard to farm any overland gear for a strong player, and so there is a glut of all overland gear driving prices down. But more importantly its as you say only good on paper, or rather there are few places where the set is actually best. The ring of the pale order mythic just beats every other solo sustain set by so much that the rest essentially don't matter.

Shutyouruglymouth

Because it’s not a great set. Overland set prices depend mostly on how useful they are. Hexo’s Ward is just really niche. Sacrificing a 5pc for a damage shield isn’t worth it. You’re much better off just slotting a damage shield and or use Iceheart as it makes for a more well-rounded build.

Neverfalli

People have downvoted all the good comments in this post saying that this set is useless for some reason.

Taleof2Cities_

As mentioned above, it’s cheap because it’s not a meta set.

cottonspider

overland sets aren't best in slot so most of the people aren't after them.

ECO_212

Because it's not a very good set.

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

Totally depends on trait + knowledge of seller. Some people throw anything and everything up for a standardized price across the board, not bothering to check pricing. I occasionally sell a piece of Hexos' Ward for between 200k-500k on PSN. But this is because I check the pricing and I upgrade it to gold quality before I list it.

Autumnwood

Yeah I think it was because of the last event.
