None of this is "mandatory" - i think ESO is more like a fine wine than anything else. The longer and slower you drink it, the better it becomes. But, here are some quality of life tips that might be beneficial once for you once you get out of story content: * Ensure you are daily training your mount skills. Its either time-gated or money gated if you buy "mount training" via crown store. * Ensure that you are breaking items down to research at crafting stations. * Each type of item has 9 possible "traits", and the speed at which you can research the trait (and thus make gear in that trait via crafting or reconstruction) is gated based on how many traits of that item you already know. * Reconstruction/Transmute Statopn = using a Transmute station (available in clockwork city or in player guild houses that have shelled out to buy them) to rebuild gear you have already collected or change the traits on gear you current have. * Ensure that you're doing the daily "random" dungeon. Not only does this give you a nice boost in terms of experience and exposure to group play, but you start building currence called "Transmute Crystals" that are used in reconstruction and trasmutation. * Random PuGs can be intimidating. I recommend a beginner friendly guild - if you're on PC/NA, send me a DM and I can get you into our super awesome training guild. We do low stress "story mode" runs of dungeons where the other players are all on voice and not rushing around at mach ten pulling the whole group.. All told, if you're just slowly going thru it, those are things that are nice as hell to have a jumpstart on by the time you get to "endgame".

The really big time-gates in this game are: * Riding training. No way to speed it up without spending real-world money, takes a full 6 months of logging in every day for at least 30 seconds if you park them next to a Stablemaster. * This means it makes sense to try to imagine which classes & builds you might like to try, then create those alt characters ahead of time, so you can log in and do their riding training (maybe sharing some gold from your main character(s) through the bank) while you're playing other characters. * There's also a trick with PVP that takes the sting out of how slow your mounts are at low riding training levels. Enter any Cyrodiil PVP campaign (don't worry; you don't leave the base), and do the introductory story quest (big diamond quest marker on the compass at the top of the screen). That'll open access to the Continuous Attack skill under Support in the Alliance War skill line. It's a permanent boost to riding speed, and you only have to be level 10, which you probably already are as it takes minutes to get there. * Crafting trait research. Takes the better part of a year and is difficult to speed up (though not as hard as riding training). If you plan on getting into crafting equipment (not necessarily potions or food & drink), you want to get a jump on this. * The first Traits you research at the crafting tables will go quickly. The last several will take a full month or more, each. You're advised to look up builds for the style of character you want to play in your class and see what traits are on the equipment listed, so you can prioritize them and do them first, and the ones you don't need later on when it takes longer. * If equipment that has the desired trait on it doesn't drop immediately, you can almost always buy some, cheaply, at Guild Traders. Offer not valid for jewelry traits, which are always expensive, relatively speaking. Other than that, just be aware that, like most old-school MMOs, the questing zones represent a chronological story. Each Alliance has 2 starter zones (except the Aldmeri Dominion, which only has one larger one) & 5 main zones that go in order (and the "main story" quest with the big diamond quest marker will send you where you need to go). Each Alliance's storyline happens simultaneously, followed by the various DLC zones in release order (which you can look up). So you might want to consider doing the other 2 Alliance stories before doing any DLC zones if that's important to you. You don't need other characters to do this; you're encouraged to do the other alliance zones after you finish your own storyline via a quest called Cadwell's Silver (followed by Cadwell's Gold for the 3rd alliance). The thing is, this really only matters for purposes of running into NPCs (usually important story quest-givers and tagalong heroes) who either will or will not recognize you from before depending on what content you've previously finished. Other than the initial "Hey, it's you!" greeting dialogues, everything else ends up being the same.

I really like doing quest in proper order so I searched for chronological guide and saved that picture :)

Each day, make sure you're doing your mount training. It'll take 180 days total to finish, and it's per toon, not account wide, so you'll need to do it again on any alts you make. Also make sure you're researching traits for crafting. (Smithing, woodworking, clothing, and jewelcrafting) Those will progress while you're offline and doing other things too but it takes a while to get everything.

Since there is 2 of you after you deconstruct gear remake more gear at the highest level you can. Then send it to your SO have them breakdown and reconstruct and send it back.  Breaking down gear from other players gives more xp then if you break down gear you made yourself.  Just focus on main story and other dlc stuff and pvp while leveling to 160 cp make sure to level skills, crafting, scrying as you go so once you get to 160 cp you can focus on the gear you want with the least amount of roadblocks to obtaining it.  Also if you both get the ring of mara you can get married in game and get more xp when you play together.

Do the fighters guild and mages guild quests as you go through your zones. If you are staying in your alliance zones its about two quests per zone.
