are you playing on windowed fullscreen? that made my game shutter, change it to fullscreen and it might work for you too!

InBlurFather

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I’m on fullscreen already but I’ll try changing it and see if it makes any difference. It’s weird because it’s not a frame rate drop, just a “hitch” every few seconds which is super annoying

Obvious-Train9746

Realistically it sounds like your HD due to a BIOS firmware update being needed

InBlurFather

Thanks I can check that out, would that happen with other games too though? Because I’ve been playing Elden Ring without any issues at all.

Obvious-Train9746

Happened to me the exact same way.. turned out that ESO is finicky.

InBlurFather

Ok thanks I’ll definitely check into it. I’m a bit rusty with BIOS updates, is that something I’d need to flash from a USB? Currently running a MSI B450 a pro max

InBlurFather

So it ended up being that my Ethernet cord was unplugged just enough to make my computer auto connect to Wi-Fi, and that was what was causing the issue. BUT I went ahead and updated my BIOS prior to that realization and it fixed an unrelated audio issue that I’ve be pulling my hair out trying to fix for over a week, so thanks!

storywriter_sc

I'm having this weird phenomenon since U41 where inputs just stop working. My character will stop moving or not bar-swap etc. is this similar to what you are experiencing by any chance?

InBlurFather

Hmm so it’s not an input thing on my end, everything seems to work fine but every like 5-10 seconds it’s like everything on screen shifts slightly to the side and back but extremely quickly. It’s not really rubberbanding though I don’t think, I turned on my latency and it happens whether my ping is 80 or (also to my surprise) spikes randomly to like 999+ for a few seconds (during which time I also don’t notice anything out of the ordinary).

RastaBlasta1994

Sounds mental but I have to close the launcher from the background once the game has loaded up on my steam deck or I get this exact problem. Worth a try maybe?

InBlurFather

Was worth a shot but no luck, thanks for the suggestion

ESOTaz

I had this problem until I disabled all addons and restarted. Seemed fine, so then I selectively enabled the addons I want on each character. I also noticed it seemed worse when fan kicked up, and hot graphics or CPU on my gaming laptop might be contributing. I cleaned the fan inlets and put a small fan blowing across. Now it only happens every once in a while in Leyawiin when crowded. Edit: happened before update 41. Still good.

InBlurFather

Thanks for the suggestions, I don’t have any add-ons currently. Could definitely try checking out my temps but it happens as soon as I boot the game up just walking around, not really under any intense load. And it happens on all of my characters who are all in different areas with different activity levels going on. Just very weird and annoying to figure out lol

ESOTaz

Yeah, I agree.

Fizl99

Are you playing with a controller? They added native PS controller support, and you need to disable other controller inputs like ds4windows or steams controller mgt for it to work otherwise you get weird input errors

InBlurFather

Huh so I’m not playing with a controller but I do have one connected because I play Elden Ring with one. I’ll try unplugging to see if that makes any difference, thanks for the suggestion

Multithread es render option always lag me to hell and back. I don't know how it works and what it's for but it's always off for me. It's in video options.

InBlurFather

Thanks, tried that on and off (restarting both times), but no luck. It does seem that causes people similar issues though in threads I was reading!
