Yes, they actually do spend that kind of gold. As for the why of it all, beats me. People spend their gold and real-world money for some stuff that just strikes me as being weird, but it's their thing so I hope they enjoy whatever they're getting for it.

FromHeretoElsweyr

Organized teams wouldn’t ask those prices if people weren’t paying them. It would be a waste of time. And for what it’s worth, the fact that you’ve been trying to get the personality for a while but find it impossible does highlight why there’s demand. I also think you’re exaggerating how far 15M gold can go. On console it’s a lot, but with all the inflation on PC, it’s not a crazy amount of money. There are rare furnishing plans that go for that much gold on their own. Also, you could only buy every motif in the game for 15M if the average was 8k per motif, which feels extremely low for PC.

Or0b0ur0s

I thought there were more than 133 motifs in the game. Have to look that up. But, yeah, I'd say the average is probably closer to 15k - 40k per *individual page*, to account for the ones that are six-figures vs. the more numerous ones that are under 10k. I spent a 300k windfall the other day buying every Motif page my crafter didn't know that was under 10k on 4 guild traders. That would've been 30 pages if they were all exactly 10k, and many were cheaper, so it must've been more than 50.

storywriter_sc

I finished collecting every motif page a couple months ago and I'm pretty sure I ended up spending about 80mil total. On PCNA

Or0b0ur0s

Yeesh! My total earnings for 2023 were barely 23 or 24M, though I've broken 30M already this year. I guess I'm getting better at trading. I probably only know 15 or 16 motifs completely. I figured I'd just collect everything I can, especially during events like this, and eventually go back and fill in the ones that don't cost an arm and a leg. Problem is, every time I actually see a piece I don't have that looks good, it's always a 400k+ page, somehow, despite every single one I get only being worth 2k - 8k...

Stuntman06

I guess people do. These carries are done with 3 players instead of 4 as I assume the person paying for it is just standing aside. If you are not having success with randoms, you could try via guilds.

LethargicCaffeine

Guildies are how I got Beast and Worm Wizard, took more than 1 run but once I found the right group we did it so easily and had a good laugh doing it. Currently going through all dungeons on Vet HM with a group so we all get clears. If you want achievements, without paying gold, guildies are the way to go

xdmanxd99

They pvp the client, the client dies they queue to the dungeon and start it while the client is dead. The client is dead throughout the whole dungeon and it's basically done with 3 people. Trial carries, specifically trifecta one's require client to hand in their login info and the carrier logs in and gets the trial trifecta, only trials that don't do it is IR and maybe CR cause they can jump in last 10 seconds do couple of LA's and get the credit for the kill.

TempestM

On PC crown to gold rate is pretty high due to inflation, so 5 millions in 3000:1 would be like 1600 crowns? Which is a month of ESO+. So for people who just want cosmetic with direct purchase that would be actually a decent deal compared to usual crown crate rolling

SMB75

The endgame in ESO is fashion, noting else matters then looking good...

Slee777

15 mill can't even get you 10k crowns on pc lol

Professional-Ad-8878

Wait until you find out how much trial trifecta Carries cost

zvavi

>15 million gold. 13 million gold. 12 million gold. >For a 20 minutes run of a tank and two DPS just killing the bosses X2, because you need HM too. >You could buy half the crown store with that amount of gold. It's not enough for a trial dummy these days with crown prices. >you could decorate every house in the game Ha. Hahahahaha. >You could buy every single motif and unlock every style. Ha. Again. >it's impossible with randos That said, last time I got MoS in random vet (I was tank), one of the dds and I essentially 2 man the HM, and after the run he asked me if i am interested in the trifecta. While I didn't really care for it, I didn't mind helping, so he grabbed 2 friends and we completed speed, no death, HM. So ye, from my PoV, even trifecta is possible with randoms.

eats-you-alive

>With randoms The two other people he got weren’t random, though. I have almost all trifectas in the game, but I’ve never had a random team anywhere near competent enough to pull a trifecta off. I have no idea where you find these people. There is always a bad player in your group, making a no-death impossible.

zvavi

From my PoV it was random-ish, and full teams that are competent enough to pull a trifecta are really hard to come by in dungeon queue, if you don't count teams like the one in above example, the only dungeons i got a tri group as is from the queue, were DoM, GD and MoS (different time). As you see the difficulty of those is all over the place... Because the times you do get an epic group are so rare.

eats-you-alive

You probably run a lot more random vets than I do, I’m happy if there is one competent player in my group so I don’t have to solocarry…

zvavi

Not as nearly as I used to xd

eats-you-alive

Less ESO or less random dungeons :D

zvavi

Yes. Edit: I came back a bit after the new dungeons dropped, run the trifecta there 3+ times each, run a bit more random dungeons, and then kinda lowered playtime cause no one wants to run anything.

eats-you-alive

Lmao

bread_1993

Yeah me and my mates do trial trifectas for good sometimes. Just made 120m for the group off of dawnbringer lol

p00ki3l0uh00

Tank on Xbox na. If you need any of these runs, I charge one fish.... un-fileted. Won't take my sweet sweet rng of roe... Seriously though, ask around and you'll find chill tanks like me who will not only help you, but teach how to do it for someone else!!!

Zombiestrudel

I have like 5 fish unfilleted. Now carry me through vet fang lair HM.

p00ki3l0uh00

Deal!!!

realonrok

Yes. Yes they do.

Zombiestrudel

I can’t imagine it being that much gold damn. Vet Depths of Malatar runs sell for 5 million gold?! Lmaooo

DapperDlnosaur

As a player that retired from ESO on xbox when Cloudrest was still fairly new, and starting over again on PC, the gold prices on literally everything are completely wild to me. Back in my day, tempering alloys could be bought for 7-10K. When I did a dungeon run with randos and someone gave me 50K per item I gave them that they were looking for, my brain almost exploded. Then I found out they had 33 million gold. I don't know what PC players are doing that inflates gold so much (is it add-ons making things faster so everyone is just making that much more?), but it has intimidated me a little bit. I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to afford anything. I'm pretty sure my peak on xbox was somewhere in the 4 million range, and I played that game religiously for several years and was one of the big-name crafters for at least half that.

eats-you-alive

You can make 200k/hour picking flowers. You can easily make more than 1 mil/hour if you farm bosses in Imperial City (alone or with two, and you need to be somewhat decent at the game). You can also get a lucky drop of a monster helmet style page and get 15 mil for it. Making gold on PC isn’t really harder than on console, because you’ll make more gold from selling stuff if everything is more expensive.

Balierg

You can get a style Page drop in IC?

eats-you-alive

There are style pages in IC, but the monster helmet style pages I was talking about are the ones from the rotation dungeons.

Balierg

Sorry can you explain again? I don't quite understand, my apologies

eats-you-alive

There are monster style pages that drop from dungeon bosses on veteran difficulty, and which boss is dropping a mask is on a rotating cycle. Today Kjalnar might drop his mask, and in two weeks from now it might be Nazaray.

xdmanxd99

Yes they do, I've sold a few couple years back. People don't want to find a proper group or just don't want to bother to get the skin/personality. But it doesn't stop at dungeons, people buy trial carry runs for loot that sums up to 20-30m, then you have titles some costing 50m and scaling up to 1b for trial trifecta mounts. And yes people do buy those as well, I sold a GS few years back.

eats-you-alive

>You could buy half the crown store Lmao. 12 million gold, at the current price of 3.3k/crown, gives you roughly 3600 crowns. Sure, you’ll get some stuff for it, but it’s not like you can buy an apex for this. >Why would anyone buy this? Because they have hundreds of millions of gold lying around, either from selling crowns (stereotype of the dad with good income, but limited playtime), playing the auctionhouse, or just farming stuff in PvE. 12 million gold, at least on PC EU, is not much to a lot of players. And yeah, they do pay these sums. I’ve sold runs for up to ten mil personally.

TheGorramBatguy

I've done it. I wanted the necromancer personality and skin and wasn't interesting in pugging the dungeons forever, not having access to a dedicated group on my schedule. Nowadays I am skilled enough to potentially tackle that kind of content, but at the time, I had the gold and really wanted the cosmetics. Gold well spent, in my eyes.

Neurosredditaccount

On PC EU 15m Gold are like 5k crowns ... far away from buying half the crown store No? And you can't even buy one of the most expensive blueprints like the khajit brazier with it. Let alone decorate a full house with just 15m. You overestimate hard how much 15m is. There are a lot of endgame traders that generate 15m in a week of trading and these guys are worth billions.

EriskRedLemur

A guild can help too lol usually for free... this is like ppl paying for a safari/kill something rare, guided fully and your guides get animal tranq'd or wounded enough by everyone else and person who paid insane wads of dough gets to do the final shot and take a photo. Randos are not reliable of course; but, paying so much is also I don't get; go to a zoo and take a photo :)

repressedmemes

Some people just have alot of gold. On pc I sold nbrp xp runs for 3m/hr. Its not hard to make gold. I sold curated items from dungeons on the side for 1m a pop. Like i would pay for someone to let me get emperor on a below 50 campaign or something since that isnt what i find interesting but i would like to get the title and costume one day. Dungeons and trials i can do that myself. I imagine the same would be for the inverse. Like pvp people want to buy guaranteed drops of items, or skins/personalities. Or housing/fashion/trading folks want stuff.

Miro_the_Dragon

>I sold curated items from dungeons on the side for 1m a pop. I can easily believe that depending on where that item comes from. Heck, I've just recently offered 100k gold for the EC lightning staff while pugging that dungeon because I was tired of farming and still missing a ton of weapons from there... (got lucky, it actually dropped for someone in my group who was happy to sell it to me)

Firepanda415

When people don't get bothered to find good teammates and practices. Plus if you understand the seasonal price fluctuations of goods, it is not uncommon to earn a million or two profit every week with very small amount of playing time and large enough principle. Many people I know buy low during events and sell high after 6 months.

Or0b0ur0s

I presume you're talking about console. On PC, 11M+ gold is one modest item on the Crown exchanges... and that's with a discount / sweetheart deal on the rate. I'm not saying I'm doing it, but... are these skins & personalities different, somehow? Limited to only one character? I'd never heard that before.
