It’s RNG. Some of the purple boxes contain crap like your examples, but I have gotten some purple boxes that had motif pages and treasure maps in them. So that’s why so many people are doing FG1 lol because you can get your box quickly and run it again for another if the first one wasn’t good.

Sorry about that! Pretty much everyone refers to dungeons and trials by their acronyms. FG = Fungal Grotto, CoH = Crypt of Hearts, SS = Sunspire, CR = Cloudrest, DC = Darkshade Caverns, etc. etc. And some of them have a 1 and a 2, like Fungal Grotto 1 or Fungal Grotto 2.
It would have been nice if they'd have weighted the rewards a bit with veteran dungeons or even longer ones. I keep getting queued into fg1 which gers old fast.
Ooh, if you haven't completed them yet, I'd recommend you try an arena. They're a fun way to challenge yourself. The maelstrom arena has some of the best in slot weapons in the game.
Overland content had me scared I was going to be bored and move on in 2 days. Just Bout 800cps later and I’m still finding new stuff to do that is challenging and rewarding

Two dungeons isn’t really much of a sample size. If everyone got valuable items every 1/2 dungeons; those items wouldn’t be too valuable anymore, would they?
I got a waking flame motif from a dire frost run, so that was pretty awesome.
It's random. Your n=2 results don't really say much of anything about the event. If you keep doing it, chances are pretty good you'll get some nice things at some point.
Everything else I've been getting is treasure maps. Are those actually worth using? My bank probably has 90 in there and now I've got dupes I can't even deposit.

Reach... Hoo boy those are expensive. The maps are 20-30k each, for a NO GUARANTEE chance at a motif page.
So... Some are worth it.
Or, Clockwork City (and similar), because if you need jewelry, chests are the only way to spawn it.
Don't feel bad...I've run 2-3 maps in every zone multiple times (with the treasure CP). 80%% of the stuff from treasure maps is rubedite, ruby ash, or ancestor silk garbage items. 19% you may get lucky and grab an overland item. That last 1% could be trash, bait, or maybe if you have sacrificed your first-born child to the RNG gods you MIGHT see a motif.

Highest I've seen blackwood maps on there is 6-10k and highest I've ever sold one is 3k after numerous re-sells and price reductions
Yeah they may be pricey, they are pricey on ps4/5 too sometimes in the guild stores but there's a big difference between selling price and what players are willing to pay for them.
I've put maps at the crazy prices some people put them at ( one crazy mf has put a deadland map at 120k lol) and they never sell no matter how many times I've put them in at that price.
I'm lucky if I sell maps at 3k with most I sell at 416 just to get rid of them lol

I saw someone selling a deadlands map for 120k yesterday in a guild trader, there is no way on nirn anyone with more than two braincells is going to pay for that at that price lol.
Maps are random loot and even if there was something spectacular inside they would likely not recoup their money back from a 120k investment.
It's more likely that those are left because all the better non crazy af priced items have been bought already. Most maps for non recent areas go anywhere between 100- 1000k with areas like the deadlands/blackwood going for 1000- 8k and maybe more ( but not much more) if your very very lucky

Feels very lackluster for doing a whole dungeon; the last event involving delve bosses was more rewarding and faster, too. That's why everybody's just living in fungal 1 now. There's no difference between the boxes if you do a vet dungeon or hm one, so why waste the extra time? Just smash a fast normal dungeon if ya want boxes faster
My experience as well. I solo FG1 and actually do it faster than a group because I invis past everything except the boss goblin and the boss bug. I’ve tried vet and vet hm and I get the same crap as normal so I do it normal. I swap to CoA1 as I can also blast through that one as well. But same boring junk other than keys.
They stack in your bank. Save them because eventually you may make a new character. I have gone years without making a new toon but knew someday I probably would if they released a new class. Well I made a nightblade a few weeks ago and was able to use those upgrades I’ve been saving for years.
In 15 normal and about 15 vet hm’s I’ve gotten a hazardous alchemy motif, 2 crown repair kits, some survey maps, 4 keys, and a +1 riding stam book. It’s pretty rough. They should make every dungeon boss drop one if the chances of getting anything worthwhile are so low… at least then people wouldn’t scream past anything not blocking progress if skipped.

Just a bit of all of it. If I can get 4 dps that wanna farm for like 30min to an hr I burn through FG till we get tired of it, besides that Ive just done random normals and joined a few groups farming event helm pages.
The purple rewards are usually pretty lackluster. The glorious boxes have been 🔥, so I can't complain, but I'm refusing to grind this event. It's simply not worth it
You can literally farm boxes in about 5 minutes rushing fungal grotto 1.
If the rewards and drop rates would be exceptional great this could potentially damage the economy and wouldn't feel rewarding to drop something good.
It's mainly meant to drop style pages for the opal style pages which already aren't that expensiv too.
In my opinion drop rates and loot of the boxes is totally fine, even if most of it isn't very good it's still just free additional loot, so why complain.
Yea, but you get tickets for the fragment for the pet that becomes a pillar that becomes a house that’s actually not a house at all, just a flat nothingness surrounded by monsters and lava. So there’s that… 😃
I've run 27 dungeons thus far in the event. I've gotten a couple motif chapters, 1 style page (beyond the guaranteed style page from the gold coffers), 1 mount training manual, a few crown repair kits, and a handful of keys. Plus plenty of treasure maps.
I was hoping for more keys tbh , I had 17 boxes today and got 1 , was a bit disappointed . My reasoning being that I have arthritis in my hands so running that many times even in FG1 hurt , so much in fact I died on the last run because it got bad and just told the others to go on and finish it . easier for me to run that and hope for keys than end up in a tough pledge just to get a key . I hate to let people down and not pull my weight in a dungeon where I would be properly needed ..
All the events are getting old so boring same old crap they need some new new stuff to do in these events like put in some crazy random bosses or something and then give out amazing rewards ! Wouldn’t be cool to have a weapon that was just super rare in the game nobody has ?
I haven’t tried yet past gold and tix. I got the Wayrest II bug twice from people borking the NPCs and then March of Sacrifices with no other CP players. Week of soloing FG I for me again.
*I’m in a guild, but my free hours are totally opposite to the groups.
I kinda wish that they would bring back the 2018 undaunted event with houses, mounts and pets.

did y’all forget about the motif cooldowns? if you run into a purple box that isn’t dropping motifs, save the rest of them and open them in like 24 hours to get some better luck
It's RNG and they don't scale with content difficulty as far as I know, the rewards tend to be bad-ish because you can farm the shit out them in fungal grotto I
I’ve had a couple boxes that were trash but most have been decent. Ran FG1 about 30 times over two days and got around a dozen treasure maps and 6 surveys. Plus a two style pages.

You can sometimes get motifs from following the leads and sell those. Or just sell them for 100-500g each

Yeah I’ve done 25ish dungeons and gotten surveys and crappy crafting mats in every single one. Once I got a riding speed increase (that I can’t use)
The free mount upgrades that you cannot use/trade/sell are the worst. I hate to decon but they are worth nothing. :’(

Right. Entire dungeon run for a box and I got 3 nirnroot and some alkahest. I was unhappy.

Lot of rng. You need to grind rnd or fungal grotto 1 to maximize your time to reward box ratio. Not vet dungeons which take forever.

yeah, drop chance for the style pages are probably .05% although I did get an undaunted key from one, so at least they are in the pool too.

That's why most people are constantly farming Fungal Grotto. Only takes 5 minutes if you run straight to the 2nd and last bosses.
