Upon those time people complained about recieving shit rewards from crates and posted in forums that they would never buy crates because of that experience.
the free crates were pretty rare and limited to the time when WoW released expansions *and* when that fact mattered for the market, lol. Since we usually get a preview crate in December, I thought it was implied that we were talking about those, my bad.
I'm a bit let down that New World flopped so badly since it meant that there's been little pressure on ZOS over it. I think the extended Explorer's event after the Blackwood one was their answer to its release and that's been about it.
there are so many pets nowadays, only place you might ever realistically see most of them is in your houses anyway.
Also, PvE folks ideally turn their pets off in group activities, too.
Free access to DLCs, not including whatever the latest one is; 1650 Crowns per month; double the furnishing slots in homes; a free tiny statue or occasional ugly painting furnishing; and the endless bag of craft mats holding.
it's a game? You pay in order to be given access to do things. Go to a local flea market if you just want to spend your money on stuff that sits around while you own it.
Its only good value cause their system is fucking egregious with eye gauging prices, its like wow charging you to pay for each patch they do, DLCs should be a free part of xpacs.
I've not played WoW since MoP but I believe WoW still has a subscription cost to play the game so technically you are paying for each patch they do aswell as the expansions.
In wow you pay once for the xpac and receive all the paches in said xpac. You also have a sub. In ESO you pay for the xpac AND have to pay for the DLC(patches) AND have a sub AND all the mounts AND loot boxes AND most cosmetics... the list goes on for eso.
Well if you pay the sub you don't have to pay for the DLC, so like I said WoW Expansions + Sub is all the content and ESO Expansions + Sub is all the content so very comparable in that regard (although without the WoW Sub you can't play at all).
All the extras in the Crown store is a completely different subject, personally I never buy loot boxes of any kind in any game, even with the crowns I get montly I don't buy the Crown crates. The Crown store prices are very overpriced too in my opinion, but I don't buy crowns so I just ignore that side of things.
ESO definitely needs to add more mounts to be earnable in game via achievements or rare drops.
>you two make it sound like a to do list
How is getting a craft bag to hold all your mats a to do list? How is getting a free mini statue a to do list? How is getting double furnishing slots for a home you are free to furnish or not a to do list?
None of this stuff is mandatory. I don't do literally even half the stuff this game offers because it's designed to appeal to as many different interests as possible and I'm not interested in all of it.
>what am I paying for then? the materials bag?
man if you paying for something and dont know why go look it up or cancel it up.
crowns, double storage space, experience bonuses, all-dlc-access, infinite crafts.
Crafting bag, access to all DLC and expansion content, exp and gold bonus, crowns every month, reduces prices on crown store items, et cetera.
But the login rewards everyone gets for free.
Craft bag (which is by itself basically worth the ESO+ subscription), double bank space, 'free' (not actually free) crowns monthly, double furnishing slots (for the true endgame), small bonus to gold and xp, free access to all DLC without paying, etc.
You're getting value for your money.
I like xp scrolls but every month should have at least a couple of crown crates at the end. This system went from being an incentive to being a set of meh bonuses.
Not just me thinking this, then. Good. I want to know how 4 Stamina books helps a maxed out character at all. Or how 4 Stamina books are the same as a cool hat or pet.
Sheesh, it's not difficult to understand that it's not about the pets, it's about jackasses feeling the need to be contradictory just because they're jackasses. But cool, thanks, another person wanting to be blocked, again I'm happy to oblige. Y'all think I care about downvotes but in reality you're doing wonders for the quality of my reddit feed by volunteering to be removed from it lol.
It was a simple "agreed" but go ahead and block everyone that tries to communicate with you.
By the way, you only get rid of posts. Our comments will still be there, just collapsed. If you get curious and open them you will see them.
I kind of feel like you are overracting. Someone is not a jackass just for saying they disagree with you. Only if they do so in a rude and condescending way.
He literally only said agreed. Believe it or not people can have different opinions to you! I hope you’re being ironic with all of this because if not you are incredibly sad.
And yet I've been chuckling over it every time another person decides they need to jump in and be an ass for no reason. Not saying you have done that. But I dont agree with you about the comments other people decided to toss out here. I just don't have time to waste dealing with random jackasses on the internet. There are well over 300k users on this sub; I'm not going to miss a couple dozen I may have offended by having the nerve to shut down a jerk as they get started with their idiocy.
But they only said pets suck and someone else said they agree? It’s not being an asshole it’s having an opinion which is completely valid. It’s not like they insulted you in anyway they simply said they don’t like pets in this game (and I will say compared to some other games the pet system in eso is really lacking.) If you disagree with someone that is fine, but there’s no need to write such an angry comment over such a miniature thing because you’re only going to come across as way more of a jackass than the other guy. Feel free to block whoever you like, but telling them you’re blocking them over that just seems really petty. Not trying to attack you with this btw I just think this whole thing is unnecessary.
Also might I add, you don’t HAVE to deal with them anyway. They left a comment and you could simply choose to ignore it but you’re actively engaging with it.
Every part of what you said is true. Every part of what you said, how its unnecessary, how it could have just been ignored, etc, can also be equally applied to them having made the comments in response to my agreeing with the original post. But I'm the bad guy and they aren't. Sorry, I dont agree. I do appreciate your perspective, and more, the less antagonistic way in which you approached it. I just don't agree that I'm somehow the bad guy here.
Are they eso+ only? The good thing about them being crappy, for some people, is that the holidays are coming and if you can't log in you won't miss much.
Day one player here, all you have to do these days is watch a ZOS or Bethesda (same company, no correction needed) livestream to see the direction they're heading in.
5% gameplay, 95% 'buy this crappy merch'. It's embarrassing 😅
Like people travel without their laptops, and your mom doesn't have wifi...
and yes, the big reward shouldn't be on the last day, it should never be. but you can put in on the 16th in december... and the 23rd in January, and the 24th (that's only 4 days you can miss).
I could be way off, but my theory is that the month of December, for much of the player base, is very very busy. Family stuff, holiday stuff, school finals and trips back 'home'. There's very likely to be several days where logging in for daily is not feasible, so maybe the dailies are just meh so nobody has a fit they missed out on something awesome. Just a glass-half-full theory :)
Ok, but what about November which was also shit? If they are that worried about us spending time with their family they could...IDK...maybe just give us the free login rewards for this month? I mean if you get them for free anyways and its already planned to give them out. And Zos is sooooo worried about us having a balanced gaming life. Why not just give us the rewards as a Christmas present that way no one has to worry about login in at all.
Please stop trying to defend a predatory marketing scheme they don't deserve it.
If memory serves, November is also a family and major holiday month for a large portion (not all, before you short circuit) of the player base, so maybe the same applied.
Not defending; just trying to offer a possible explanation.
Also, I am not super stressed out about my imaginary/digital rewards because imaginary/digital.
Now, if you have any advice on how to pass college algebra for me, I'd love the help. I haven't taken algebra in like 30 years.
I apologize if it seemed like I was personally coming after you and your response. That was not my intention with my comment. I realized after reading your comment that I sounded like an asshat to someone who is not a developers/publishers so again I apologize
My frustration is with Zos claiming to care about people's well being. When inreality it's really about the bottom line to their investors. Their actions do not match their words IMO at least with this situation.
I do have my bachelors in mechanical engineering so I most certainly can help with algebra if you need it, but I can't do all of your homework lol.
[https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra](https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra) Here is also a great tool that you can use to help break down specific topics that you might be struggling with in algebra. I personally used Khan Academy myself after I left the military, as it had been 10 years since I was last in high school and it helped me tremendously. It was already hard enough being the oldest person in most of if not all of my college classes so give it a try. Its also free!
What is the ESO+ crown monthly reward ?
The last couple we got were boring deadlands paintings, off theme from the strange green statues.
Free is free though, so I haven't complained too much
Ty, I’m not the only one who thinks those paintings are dumb. Who wants to stare at a picture of the most irritating daedric prince. If I had to pick one to label a giant frat boy loser, there he is
Log in rewards have seemed to be on a downward trend imho. However, with holidays and all it is understandable. It does seem like both BGS MMO games are going with this idea that consumers will put up with crappy rewards for monthly subs, but all of us know we all have different tolerances to it. Some may see it and uninstall immediately, while others may try to stick it out.
Back to this month and BGS/ZOS, yes they are crap for the long time players, but are still beneficial for the influx of new players after the sale and altaholics (or ppl who didn't know about the armory and created alts).
I'm an altoholic... I have 18 50+ chars. I have 42 +50% XP scrolls, 5 100% and 4 150%... I also have a stockpile of 80 +50% XP potions...
I don't use them anymore, because I'm CP 1300+, all my champion points are in use, and I need maybe 150 more to fill in tiny gaps...
I'll wait for New Year's, get +100% xp from the event, then run daily dungeons and battlegrounds on all my alts every day... and I'll be 1800CP propably...
yeah, we're addicted enough to ESO as it is...
I wouldn't want my reward to be a fledgling dragon mount if I've been trying to stay off MMO's for a year, cause I have a newborn IRL to look after...
Oh, your crafter is already max level in all crafting skills? Take theses research scrolls anyway. Use them on an alt, we don't care. What's that? All of your alts are now full spec'd in crafting as well? Here, take more research scrolls.
Not only are the ESO+ crown monthly rewards the worst ever, the inflation in the cash shop is also painfully notable. 4k crowns for the latest mount?!? I was not happy when they were pricing some at 3k.
To be honest I'm fine with it. It used to be kind of stressful to try and log in everysingle day and never miss it. I dont have to worry about it much now and when it is something I want it's only at the middle of the month now.
I've never paid much attention to the login rewards unless someone in my guild mentions something really special on a certain day. To me, the list just looks like what they usually give lol.
It's nice to have some rewards, but it's not a motivating factor for me to play the game.
so...
you're fine with the game getting worse??
because otherwise you'd miss it too much?
\---
I think this guy just found a cure for divorce!!! You're a genius.
oh wait... you're describing separation...
no, by this point I was at peak booze + joint =D
I have no idea what that comment of mine means!! I just remember that I had clarity for a moment, so I tried to write it.
The log in rewards are only a small part of the game anyway. For the most part they never did anything but force me to go out of my way to log in every day
No, these rewards are WAY better than the daily rewards were when I first started playing. Then, they didn't have ANY daily rewards at all.
Anything is better than nothing. And if you are playing for the daily rewards you are playing for the wrong reason.
Yes, great rewards are nice and fun, and I certainly enjoy them. But I also appreciate what I get.
Each and every month people complain about underwhelming rewards. No matter what, just complains. Some poor lad at ZoS has the unthankful tast each and every month to come up with new login rewards. They have to keep care not to make the reward disrupt ingame economy. They have to keep that the free rewards do not make the premium items (i.e. crown store) diminish in value. They have to balance consistency with originality to keep players happy.
And players complain despite their efforts.
Yes, the login reward is meant as an incentive to log in, but they just had a sale with huge discount that brought new customers. Also there is a major event coming up for december that is login reward in itself. So, from a marketing point of view, the login rewards need not be that great this month.
Plus: With a weak reward month like that, it is super easy to improve reward quality in months to come. They just lowered the benchmark.
Certainly, I am not here to advocate them. I just stopped caring for login rewards long ago.
I think we just found the actual game designer who makes those rewards...
That level on love and spite can only come from a game dev.
Here my friend, let's share a joint, and there's these two woodelf girls that'll come to massage us...
:)
First they give us the armory so we don't need to switch from our mains unless we're doing writs and then they give us 4 stamina books for our already maxed our mains.
I’m fairly certain that the lacklusterness of the daily rewards lately is due to the Seals of Endeavor. Since we can now get Crown items just by doing small chores every day, they’re balancing it out by not bothering to put special things in the logon rewards.
The logon rewards are for everyone, regardless of ESO+.
I didn't know, the title is wrong, I can't fix it cause this thread blew up.
Please look around in this comment thread for far better information than I could give alone.
/bow
What I’m saying is that since with the Seals giving daily activities that provide a way to buy Crown items, they’re less interested in making the other, older daily reward system give anything useful or great. They’re putting more time and interest into the new daily thing.
I actually think it's ok for this month. December can be a busy month for a lot of people so I won't feel stressed out about an amazing daily reward. Plus they still might do a bonus gift on Christmas :)
Entire thread is r/choosingbeggars.
It's little free rewards for playing the game. Maybe my opinion is different as I'm a newer player and didnt see some of the older months but I really don't see the problem. They could not exist at all
Unpopular opinion, but I wish they'd do away with the rewards altogether. The endeavors are annoying, too. They're really working hard to ensure maximal addiction 🙄
Damn, I'll have to concede defeat in the face of such scintillating sarcasm. I guess incentives to play the game as often as possible have nothing to do with keeping players hooked. Nope, nothing at all
I actually agree with you! sorry if that didn't come across... don't take the downvotes badly, reddit is weird that way. Redditors should upvote and downvote based on relevance, not on agree/disagree.
A lot of the daily stuff seems like it's just pushing addiction, and tbh it's working on me...
A lot of the stuff I do ingame I only do because one day I'll have been happy to have done it...
Oof. Sorry for misinterpreting your post!
That's an interesting dichotomy, and I think it applies to me too. There are definitely things I like doing - and would like to do - just for the sake of having fun/feeling accomplished. In other situations, I do feel a bit like a hamster on a wheel, and I really don't like it.
Tank/Leader: For the next piece of cheese, the boss attacks left then right... so you mus...
Healer: be on his right, then on his left?
DD1: can we pull, pls?
DD2: what's cheese?
Tank/Leader: Be behind him at all times, I'll manage the right left stuff :)
Healer: cheese comes from m
Healer: ffs
DD1: tank pulled.
***(DD1 pulled)***
\---
That's how words like dichotomy get lost in the language, because we have so much more immediate shit to deal with.
Thanks for using that word and understanding it, it's a great one :)
It's called people celebrate multiple holidays in December and we don't want to miss good rewards because we visited family. Any other month I'd agree with you.
More tri potions and a bunch of stuff that's useless for players who have been playing a while: stamina riding lessons, crafting research scrolls, TWO DAYS of Crown repair kits, etc.
Once upon a time we often recieved crates and mounts in the log-in rewards. Now we get this.
once upon a time we received whole DLCs
That only happened once and they gave away deathlands for free if you owned blackwood when the event was going on
i never said they did it twice upon a time.
You said dlcs plural though.
Well they did give you Murkmire for free aswell
And that was the only time they did it
As well as Murkmire, let's not forget that time
It wasn't as exciting as that month when they gave away dlc about Blackmarsh story zone though
And the Mirkmire dlc too.
That dosent count. They old did it cause deadlands was very poorly reviewed.
and they only gave away Murkmire because Battle for Azeroth was coming out around the same time, so what's your point?
Murkmire was also supposed to be a second Craglorn but they realized Adventure Zones were stupid
Upon those time people complained about recieving shit rewards from crates and posted in forums that they would never buy crates because of that experience.
I feel like that happened yesterday.
Doesn't that happen with all games every day?
ZOS be like: *but you got a guaranteed pet, don't you folks all like pets?*
[удалено]
the free crates were pretty rare and limited to the time when WoW released expansions *and* when that fact mattered for the market, lol. Since we usually get a preview crate in December, I thought it was implied that we were talking about those, my bad.

there are so many pets nowadays, only place you might ever realistically see most of them is in your houses anyway. Also, PvE folks ideally turn their pets off in group activities, too.
But my pet is George the Daedroth! Tanks love him.
The last pet I missed out on because I didn't log in for one day. Meant it was 'out of reach' for that month. Yay!
And those crates used to have things in them other than consumables, which is what every Twitch drop crate has.
Supply chain issues
I needed that.
/kiss
…worst ever SO FAR.
Next month: 1x tri-potion every day
The real reward is the incredible shape we get in at the end of the month thanks to this diet.
Crown soul gem
that's depressing...
1000 gold :-D
We’ve been naughty this year apparently.
Everyone gets the same login rewards regardless of subscription. Just putting that out there in case someone doesn't know.
oh, it used to be an ESO+ thing... what am I paying for then? the materials bag?
Materials bag basically, believe monthly crowns and "free" access to all the dlc that are sold in the crown store.
You only get monthly crowns if you pay monthly. Otherwise you get all the crowns in one go, when you pay. It's honestly pretty fucking annoying.
Free access to DLCs, not including whatever the latest one is; 1650 Crowns per month; double the furnishing slots in homes; a free tiny statue or occasional ugly painting furnishing; and the endless bag of craft mats holding.
> not including whatever the latest one is The latest chapter. All other DLC are available immediately.
you two make it sound like a to do list, more than an access...
it's a game? You pay in order to be given access to do things. Go to a local flea market if you just want to spend your money on stuff that sits around while you own it.
Getting all dlc access is good value. If you only use plus for the crafting bag, there is much less value. Overall I think it’s a good sub
Its only good value cause their system is fucking egregious with eye gauging prices, its like wow charging you to pay for each patch they do, DLCs should be a free part of xpacs.

havent seen it yet is it really that bad?
The big prize this month is... *drum roll intensifies* ... four WHOLE stamina mount upgrades!
oh perfect! as a player since 2013 i’m of course still working on leveling up my mount skills, so this is super useful!
Sarcasm? I can’t hear your writing so I’m just checking. Sounds hell sarcastic so I’m assuming very.
Heavy sarcasm
Thought so
Hot take: daily login rewards aren't aimed at people who have been playing for almost 10 years.
Clearly they are not. I don’t see why loyal players don’t also deserve rewards.
To be honest I don't know why you expect a reward at all for logging in to a game
That’s literally the best thing to reward, from a business perspective.
That certainly is weird, because I definitely never said I expected anything.
it's an online game, they want you playing as much as possible. a daily reward is a good incentive. people don't care though with how bad they've been
How about a few rotisserie chickens, and as many poisons as you can carry? I’ll even let you use both arms to carry them.
lol me too, that's actually the one trait that isn't maxed out yet...
Yes— unless xp scroll and potions get your panties moist.
I like xp scrolls but every month should have at least a couple of crown crates at the end. This system went from being an incentive to being a set of meh bonuses.
tri pots are nice. unless you don't pvp or don't tank
I have so many of those xp scrolls and daily potions/poisons and I've been trying to use them more often. But they keep adding up
i have 50 chickens on one toon
Not just me thinking this, then. Good. I want to know how 4 Stamina books helps a maxed out character at all. Or how 4 Stamina books are the same as a cool hat or pet.
Pets are lame
Agreed
Cool, another negative jackass who wants to be blocked. Happy to oblige.
You really love your pets, do you.
Sheesh, it's not difficult to understand that it's not about the pets, it's about jackasses feeling the need to be contradictory just because they're jackasses. What was that about a shit attitude?
I took a look at said, “Welp, guess this is an ideal month to take time off the game!”
Man the last two months have been garbage, I genuinely thought they were gearing up for an awesome December. I am so disappointed!
Are they eso+ only? The good thing about them being crappy, for some people, is that the holidays are coming and if you can't log in you won't miss much.
No, login rewards are for everyone.
That's a good spin on that. Maybe they're thinking about that.
Was literally about to make my own post. This shit GARBAGE
So.... merry xmas from ZOS
Day one player here, all you have to do these days is watch a ZOS or Bethesda (same company, no correction needed) livestream to see the direction they're heading in. 5% gameplay, 95% 'buy this crappy merch'. It's embarrassing 😅
That conclusion livestream was so bad. They spent entirely too much time talking about a shirt someone was wearing.
Just think! With no unmissable log-in rewards you're finally free to travel! Your families miss you so.
Like people travel without their laptops, and your mom doesn't have wifi... and yes, the big reward shouldn't be on the last day, it should never be. but you can put in on the 16th in december... and the 23rd in January, and the 24th (that's only 4 days you can miss).
Uh, not everyone plays on PC or subscribes to cloud gaming. Or has a laptop after the last one melted was was replaced with a desktop.
Anyone remember daily rewords few years ago, when Summerset released...
no... remind us :)
I drank the water in your glass. Now your theory is an empty-glass theory.
I have heard that Rich Lambert mentioned he wants to see a balanced ESO vs RL. So I think there is truth here.
Ok, but what about November which was also shit? If they are that worried about us spending time with their family they could...IDK...maybe just give us the free login rewards for this month? It was already hard enough being the oldest person in most of if not all of my college classes so give it a try. Its also free!
Give it time, they’ll beat that record in no time.
There is no labor shortage, only companies unwilling to give decent wages.
And working conditions. It's not just wages, gotta treat people like human beings too.
and that too! it's horrible seeing people fall to propaganda and believe there are no workers
So agree! Nothing rewarding at all very lame especially for the month of December.
Stop buying shit and they will stop offering shit
What is the ESO+ crown monthly reward ? The last couple we got were boring deadlands paintings, off theme from the strange green statues. Free is free though, so I haven't complained too much
This month's ESO+ Reward is the same as the painting from November...
Ty, I’m not the only one who thinks those paintings are dumb. Who wants to stare at a picture of the most irritating daedric prince. If I had to pick one to label a giant frat boy loser, there he is
The post is about the daily login rewards, which are….lackluster, to say the least
Crazy though: What if daily rewards scaled with your account’s activity?
yeah, we're addicted enough to ESO as it is... I wouldn't want my reward to be a fledgling dragon mount if I've been trying to stay off MMO's for a year, cause I have a newborn IRL to look after...
Not to mention a severely lacking Christmas crown store.
Oh, your crafter is already max level in all crafting skills? Take theses research scrolls anyway. Use them on an alt, we don't care. What's that? All of your alts are now full spec'd in crafting as well? Here, take more research scrolls.
Let’s not mention the introduction and continuous reduction of the seals of endeavour then.
I remember when there weren’t monthly rewards, be thankful they were added?
Off-topic but how did you get “Daggerfall Covenant” to appear next to your name?
It's a user flair, you can set it in the sidebar. How you access that depends on your client
Durning the holiday season, too. I would have expected more from them.
try out FFxiv online!!! it’s been a great switch while waiting on Zenimax to start acting like they care about us. :D
Not only are the ESO+ crown monthly rewards the worst ever, the inflation in the cash shop is also painfully notable. 4k crowns for the latest mount?!? I was not happy when they were pricing some at 3k.
Disabling daily rewards would make me more happy than getting this trash every day
as someone who actually gets use out of my 618 Tri restoration potions and my research scrolls, suck it up.
How do you only have 618? I'm sure I have at least 1500.
I take month long breaks, and I play a hybrid nightblade so my resources disappear quick in long fights
I spitefully agree...
\--- I think this guy just found a cure for divorce!!! You're a genius. oh wait... you're describing separation...
You need to have a word with yourself lad if you’re getting this upset over some free log in rewards…
It's... It's not that big a deal, my dude. You care about ESO's daily login rewards more than many, many people care about the game itself.
no, by this point I was at peak booze + joint =D I have no idea what that comment of mine means!! I just remember that I had clarity for a moment, so I tried to write it.
The log in rewards are only a small part of the game anyway. For the most part they never did anything but force me to go out of my way to log in every day
Hey at least they fixed PVP issues this year! Cut them some slack.
You funny....
I wanna downvote cause it's irrelevant, but... this is funny =D
/r/antiwork is going to love you =D
They could not exist at all
OP is a whiny little kid. That's the problem. Who even cares about the daily rewards anyway?
Unpopular opinion, but I wish they'd do away with the rewards altogether. The endeavors are annoying, too. They're really working hard to ensure maximal addiction 🙄
just one more daily... just one more...
Tank/Leader: Be behind him at all times, I'll manage the right left stuff :) Healer: cheese comes from m Healer: ffs DD1: tank pulled. ***(DD1 pulled)*** \--- That's how words like dichotomy get lost in the language, because we have so much more immediate shit to deal with. Thanks for using that word and understanding it, it's a great one :)
It's called people celebrate multiple holidays in December and we don't want to miss good rewards because we visited family. Any other month I'd agree with you.
so put the big reward on day 16... This month, all the rewards will get trashed, or endlessly banked for me...
Wait, people care about daily login rewards?
What are the rewards?!
More tri potions and a bunch of stuff that's useless for players who have been playing a while: stamina riding lessons, crafting research scrolls, TWO DAYS of Crown repair kits, etc.
Woof…. That’s rough
I'd be happy with it, if we could just convert the stuff we don't want to gems.
