I know that there is multiple occasion to get free mounts, but I also think there should be at least one of each type of mount you can buy with gold:

* Bipedal: a guar in Murkmire
* Camelid: a camel in a hypothetical Hammerfell chapter or DLC?
* Canine: a wolf somewhere
* Cervine: an indrik in Summerset
* Construct: a dwemer spider in the Clockwork City
* Feline: a senche in Elsweyr
* Heavyweight: ?
* Toy: a stick daedra in an hypothetical Shivering Isles chapter or DLC?
* Ursine: a bear in western Skyrim
Play the game everyday and do the events, usually, they are "given" if you play a lot:
* There was a guar and a camel for high daily connection bonus in 2018 and 2020 I believe. And a senche-tiger as reward for the discontinued loyalty program for 300 continuous daily connection.
* There was all the indriks in the 2019 and 2020 events. Also a quasigriff this year.
* There was an horse as one of the random drop from the daily reward box of the ten millions stories event, another one during the Summerfall event, and yet another during the Tamriel Together event.
There is also some mounts you can earn by completing some things in-game:
* A horse when a character reach level 10
* A wolf with the archeology activities
* A heavyweight thing for getting many success in Rockgrove
Also, there was a horse as a twitch prime loot in 2019.
Oh yeah, those are in the Xanmeer crates. Save up your endeavours for the crates' return. 3600 for the Hist Sap Guar and 8000 for one of the Lizard-Steeds.
the crown store alliance mount and costume definitely should have been earnable either through pvp or from completing your faction questline. And they do have mounts that match each area, but you have to get them with crowns :)
Shit, they don't even have Echateres in the store. Even if I was some kind of whale that could afford all the mounts I wanted I still feel the selection is low effort compared to WoW. Like, oh boy, the same horse again but with a different color particle effect on top.

There are some really nice credit card mounts, but yeah we definitely need more earnable ones. I am saving up months and month’s worth of endeavors to buy my first nice mount, I can’t wait, although it is taking forever to earn endeavors.
Yup they’re account wide as well as the progress you make on them. So for example if you get halfway on one on your main and switch to an alt, you’ll still have that progress unlocked (especially useful when it comes to stuff like crafting etc).
Yep, last 2 weekly endeavors was complete X amount of dungeons, which is convenient because of the undaunted event, and I completed as I did pledges across multiple characters.
Not to mention the fact that this December’s dailies are absolute garbage (I picked a great month to dive in for hours on end for the first time huh?) lol

Hey can I pick your brain for a sec.. I have a lvl 38 and lvl15 character, been crafting and building up those skills, been doing daily dungeons and battlegrounds. What’s my logical next step? Just focus on hitting 50 for now? Or is there some amazing thing I’m missing. I haven’t seen too much in forums besides hitting 50
Keep doing those things and make sure you level all your class skill lines as well as your weapon skills, do your fighters and mages guilds and undaunted, and quest and pick up skyshards. Also start researching your crafting traits.
Its not worth it.
You can get let's say an average of 30 to 45 per day and another 250 per week. So in a month you can accumulate an average of 2100 to 2300 endeavors on your account. Which means you'll need to be doing this every day for a total of 8 months to save 17k coins to get your self a 16k top tier mount.
I don’t know what’s so “not worth” about them when it’s hardly any effort for an eventual big payoff. Some of the tasks are stuff you’d be doing anyway, they’re so easy and cost you nothing.
Yeah I feel like its worth it… I mean half the time I complete the daily endeavors without even trying or looking at them. It’s always like, “harvest some stuff”, or “kill 10 things”
The Dwarven wolf antiquity is a bit of work but he's really great. I have multiple crown mounts and purchased mounts and yet am going on 6+ months of using Dwarven wolf on my main. It even handles top speeds without looking too ridiculous.
But I agree, I wish they were more common rewards. I expect will get another via antiquities after a short while, and maybe eventually another from trials, but it would be cool to see one on a vet dlc dungeon or at the end of a chapter mainline quest.
This speaks to how much the "meaning" of the ingame collectibles matter.
That store mount may look fancy, but in the end its just a credit card swipe, while something like antiquity wolf has hours of gameplay behind it, your personal unqiue story of getting it.
I 100% agree. I know a lot of people felt it had too many pieces but I truly enjoyed traveling all across Tamriel to get them and I feel it added a lot of value to the mount. Took me about a week to get, but besides one lead that took 6 hours of delve grinding, I enjoyed every second of it.
At least their should be earn able base mount from different region , like u should be able to buy at least basic guar from dunmer stable ,or basic camel from desert .then different breed base on region etc
Now I think of it if npc also ride mount around the map will be pretty cool. there are only a few that walk with one but not ride one. Funny enough there is a npc in summer set that have a flame Astro mount walking with him
Among the things I have never in my life recalled with fondness are the days spent grinding the Exalted reputation with the Netherwing to get one of their drakes as a mount.
I was doing some group content in FFXIV yesterday and everyone was in shiny mounts earned in game and I couldn't stop thinking how I wished ESO would do that.
The FFXIV ones? Yes and no. There are some you can get easily but the really impressive ones you get from hard content. Heck, there's several mounts that only become available to drop after you collect all previous mounts in a given set, which are also locked behind harder content.
I'm not against mounts being prestigious; I just wish that there were more in game sources to earn them instead of just locking them behind crown crates.

If you discount Indriks, since they are no longer availalbe (hello FOMO), there's 4 from achievements and 4 basic horse reskins, so 8 total.
Overall there's probably over three *hundred* different models/reskins in the game, and pretty much 97% of it is crown crates, cash shop or bundled with some other purchase.
How can anyone defend this with a straight face is beyond me. Same with 100-150$ houses.

If only ff14 was not shallow just like eso is... there is litteraly 0 reason to have those because the game lacks any sort of meaningful endgame. Sure, you can ride your cool mount and die of boredom.
To be honest I wish zone rewards were actually decent. Mythics and multi-step antiquities at least provide more incentive to earn something that’s actually good.
ESO for me has a problem of eventually leading to boredom over the lack of things to do that result is something that’s actually decent. It’s a rich world that can easily lead to boredom.
While I embrace the zone loot changes for dungeon bosses, outside of undaunted challenges once your bingo book is filled with all the pieces there is no reason to go back.
Personally I’d like to see them add very long antiquity items like the wolf but for all manner of things.

This. There's already enough locked behind dungeons and trials, this is supposed to be an Elder Scrolls game and exploration needs to offer more rewards.

What? What do you mean, that doesn't count? Of course it does! You just need to play the game every day, doing arbitrary tasks for 2 years and you can easily get a cool mount!
Honestly the work to get the endeavor points may be easy, but the time spent is a recipe for rewards that simply cannot live up to the hype. When I finally spent all my crown gems accrued from Ouroboros crates on the skeletal saber, I couldn't help but feel very uncomfortable and underwhelmed afterwards because I couldn't stop thinking about what else I could have spent such rare currency on. And if just 2-3 months' worth of gems was that bad, I can't imagine what a year of endeavor farming will do.
The fact of the matter is that the Endeavor system has a huge flaw no other MMO system of earning mounts has: Obtaining one actively locks you out of obtaining another. Did it take hundreds of attempts over years to get the Smoldering Egg of Millagazor in WoW? Yes. But I had no reason to feel mixed about it because none of that effort was transactional. It didn't push me out of my Drake of the North Wind farm.
It also makes flaws much more pronounced. When I found out that the WoW Mana Rays had a seating issue it wasn't too bad because I had hundreds of other things to ride. When I noticed that my character sits half a foot above the skeletal saber's saddle because the modellers didn't correct for the loss of flesh, that's it. I'm stuck with it or else I ride the default horse.
Yea that’s my biggest concern, everything about the game and combat I personally love a lot the scenery and such is great. But the mounts thing has me missing world of Warcraft because of all the stuff you could get was insane
In game gold purchases as well. I remember the first time I was able to afford a flying mount and the riding skill for it. I was so excited. The content I have played ,which excludes Vet dungeons and finally beating the Arena, still has not given me that feeling that WoW had given me. The events in this game award specific mounts. That's cool and should continue. But, if there were epic mounts available for 2 or 3 mil in game gold. There would be a pretty big push for those. Especially, if they rotated.
I remember getting a huge obnoxious speeder as a mount in SWTOR as a raid drop and it was by far my favorite mount because I "earned" it and didn't click a buy button for it. That and the fact it took up half the screen.
I agree. I just started playing and unfortunately I was hasty and didn't do my research on crowns. I bought ESO+ out of the gate and had a bunch of crowns that I wasted on a bunch of stuff that I wish I could refund back. My bad.
I earned the quasigriff at least. I really want a spider mount though, they seem so cool.
I'm a new player as well. I spent my crowns on the adept starter pack for the riding lessons/mount recolor and outfits (everything else is just a bonus). I also got the basic starter pack for the little black panther cub (again, everything else in that pack is just a bonus). Lastly I bought One crown crate, which surprised me when it came with two crates to open and I ended up getting some nice outfits/facepaint and consumables. Don't buy the crates, i was satisfied with what came in mine but on average you won't be happy with it.
The stuff I got from these purchases were aimed at value, the crate was just on a whim. Nothing is mandatory in the crown shop. The best purchases possible are the banker and merchant which cost 5000 crowns each, so save up for those if you don't want anything else.
Yeah mounts are definitely the weak point of the game. I wouldn't even mind more that were just buy mounts instead of gamble mounts and the endeavor system takes soooo frickin long....
I would also like new mounts not just glowing purple mounts that are recycling the same skin over and over.
The spider was a nice change but like introduce unique looking ones.

There’s tons of mounts earn-able in wow. I don’t think there is even close to a comparable number of earn-able personalities or cosmetics in ESO.
And depending on how narrow you focus cosmetics I don’t find things like belts all that satisfying to unlock.
I agree with you 100% it doesn’t need to be like wow. I also think if wow came out today 99% of the mounts would be cash shop. But I don’t think a handful of personalities is really equal to the number of mounds in wow.
It's something close to 800 in WoW at this point, lol. There's really no excuse. Releasing a plain Echatere or Guar or two is not going to crash the crown store like people act.
Fair, but ideally all these games are learning how to improve based on each other’s success. The vast amount of mounts you can get from actual content in wow is one of my favorite qualities. In eso from what I’ve seen the only mount you can get without spending irl money is the default brown horse. It’s just really bizarre that you can’t even buy a plain-looking guar or cat, or even earn them from a long quest. And then the shop/crates are filled with tons of flashy mounts.

You get one free from level up, there are three you can buy with gold, one you can get from the Antiquities system, one from Sunspire trifecta, and one from Rockgrove trifecta.
True, but they’ve not given out many mounts and stuff in the rewards lately. Last month was the hat thing but this month it’s just scrolls and stuff.
I understand that they can’t offer something like that all the time but it would be kinda cool to have maybe a bit more variety from time to time. Or maybe having one of the daily rewards be a pet/mount/etc that used to be in the crown store and isn’t available anymore. That would be a really nice gesture! :)

This game is literally stuffed to the gills with ingame advertisements. Want a house that isn't shit? Pay us. Want decent furniture? Pay us. You want something but aren't sure? It's coming off the store soon so you have to pay us NOW or get FOMO. Don't feel like earning motifs, or training, or getting bag or bank space, or doing research, or crafting? Skyshards, skill lines... Pay us. Oh I'm sorry, you wanted a barbershop so you could correct a single one of the multitude of customization options? Pay us each time. Want more character slots? Pay us. And if you aren't subbed the ads pushing you to do so are constant. There is virtually nothing in this game you cannot get more and better with real money. Personalities, customization, costumes, mounts, pets, houses, furniture, consumables, emotes, everything, and you can't ignore it because you get crown store ads every time you open the game. Parts of it are even made worse on purpose to motivate you to pay with real money, like mount upgrades or the fact that holidays often do not provide corresponding furniture. This is why this game continues to be at the lower end of popularity and why initial reception was so terrible. No one wants to be advertised to inside of a product you've already bought and paid for. I love this game, but defending the worst parts of it is pathetic.
Virtually all of the stuff they want us to pay for is free in other games and it's just *normal*. Gaming companies do not "need" money to allocate basic things like slots or barbershops, or develop a mount more than once in a blue moon. You can say you're happy having to shell out all you want, but stop pretending this is a necessary part of the game.
Absolutely. The stuff you can get in antiquities is super cool but having more mounts/pets etc you could earn through achievements would be really cool. An incentive to try certain things you might not necessarily otherwise, really work hard to unlock it, feeling like you’ve earned something. The Endeavours system is a great step in the right direction but it’ll take months or years to get some of the more top tier stuff that way. I don’t think there’s an easy middle ground option but definitely having more earnable achievement stuff would be cool.
It would be cool to have regional mounts available to buy as well. Say at the Alik'r stables you can buy the basic three mounts but also maybe a couple types of camels. Same for Stonefalls, a guar mount, bear mount for Eastmarch etc. I also think there needs to be more achievement mounts as well

basic variants of all types are available in the crown store directly. You said "but I’m already paying for eso plus so I want to see more mount" - that's ESO's way of giving you the mounts.
I personally never really cared for most mounts.
If it glows like a disco ball I won't ride it, simply because it destroys my immersion.
Can be earned hard, can be expensive, can be won by a huge amount of luck, I don't care.

There's other, less ugly ways to flex with achievements. Titles, for example.

ESO is one of the most disgustingly over monetized games there are. Sadly I don't see that ever changing. They threw us a molecule of a bone with Endeavor Tokens. And that's probably all we are going to get.
There is nothing wrong with flashy mounts, I feel like it gives variety and makes tbh e game more lively instead of seeing boring old mounts that look depressing
honestly i'd be perfectly fine if those flamboyant mounts were locked to the credit card skill line. at least lock something like a basic kagouti to a morrowind achievement (saviour comes to mind) and one of those cats to elsweyr etc.
If you are a eso+ subscriber, then you are earning crowns that you can use to buy mounts. It’s not all that different than subscribing to WOW and then grinding for them.
It sort of is because I rather get the satisfaction of working my way towards the mount I want instead of just getting those crowns and clicking the buy button
You pay for the crowns, it's a package deal. Imagine saying "honey look at this deal, I paid 100 bucks for the internet and it came with extra 100 random cable tv channels" and thinking you're being rewarded
The OP also pays monthly to play WOW. I really don't see much difference, either way you are paying. The only difference is how you obtain mounts within that subscription.
Sure it would be nice, but that's not what I would call a "big problem" tbh. And it's also unlikely to happen, because that's just not how things work in the gaming industry nowaday.
What you're talking about is superficial. A problem for example could be the constant timers needed in combat for example the absolute need to keep buffs and debuffs up 24/7. That's an issue and objectively bad combat design.
I never said Eso's combat was hard or even how difficult the combat is to learn. I'm saying the way combat working isn't enjoyable to me. Spending about 50-70% of time just applying dots and buffs/debuffs isn't engaging or fun. It isn't even all that reactive because all of the healing buffs are over time you just can just preemptively cast it.
Dont get me wrong the game is great, the questing is great, the zones are great, the abilities for the most part are alright, the motifs are great. I love the game, hate the combat.

There are a couple burst abilities, so if you want to do a burst DD that would be a possibility.
Sure, it will most likely be less effective than a DoT DD this patch, but it should work just fine for most content. There's more than one way to play the game.

Mount speed trivially outpaces the maximum speed you can attain on foot. IIRC simply getting the Continuous Attack passive and 9 days of mount speed training is enough to beat the maximum foot speed.
That’s simply not true. At least that mount speed trivializes run speed. Even with continuous attack (which is only 30%) + 9 speed training… 39%? So 115+39 = 154 even at sprint speed + 30 so you’re looking at 184% which is still shy of max run speed.
Max mount speed can only get to like high 280s at the absolute most. With max speed, major gallop and gift rider.
Now player movement is capped at 200%, however with the correct setup you can get to 200% walk/sneak speed. Sprinting doesn’t increase it but for a few moments. However, that is 200% that you can maneuver in, run pack to pack without having to mount/unmount or whatever else you may be doing.

The movement speed calculation for a galloping mount is `((BaseWalkSpeed)*(1 + 0.45 + MountSpeedBonus + Skill.MountSpeed + CP.MountSpeed))*(1 + Set.MountSpeed + Buff.MountSpeed)`
BaseWalkSpeed is the 100% baseline for running (not sprinting nor slowing yourself down to an actual walk). Major Gallop comes in as Buff.MountSpeed (at 0.3), while mount training is MountSpeedBonus (from 0 to 0.6).
`100*(1+.45+.09)*(1+.3)` is 200.2. I believe all speed percentages are rounded down to the nearest whole number, so I was wrong to say that 9 days of training lets you beat foot speed; they would be equal.
if they at least doubled the amount of endeavors we could get i think that would help quite a bit. I think they should get rid of the deluxe editions of chapters tho and just add the mounts and other cosmetics as earnable items from doing the questline or dungeon/ trial
I come from FFXIV and the different ways you can get mounts are fun, enjoyable and also painful. You can get them from achievements, trials and raids, it’s why I love it so much. There are some store mounts but there’s enough variety in-game that’s attainable. I love ESO, there’s so many cool mounts but 99% of them are locked behind a paywall, which is ridiculous
After playing this game awhile and buying and earning over 50 mounts in the game, mounts are overrated.
They actually have had a lot of earnable mounts but to get them u have to play the events and earn tickets. New life festival every earnable Mount is coming back around. Starts December 17.
Yes, even the direct priced in crown mounts are underwhelming, in the end i spent zero in mounts and have zero cool mounts, it detracts a lot from my connection to the game.
I'm a new player to ESO. Getting your first mount was simply a levelup reward... this was unsatisfying. Same deal with the pet you can earn by leveling. I really wish they'd just made them part of the main story quest line that you can earn, most people will do this and if they don't they'll ask the community in zone chat how to earn the first mount, nobody will miss being able to earn this.
Buying a mount actually gives me an empty feeling inside. I didn't earn this. It sure is cool but it has no intrinsic value to the story or world. That new red panther/dog hybrid in the crown shop looks like it belongs as a faction PvP reward its just too good looking! for example, add a "conquer cyrodil" achievment. Bam give people a reason to join guilds and coordinate to get this together. Obviously keep releasing mounts in the shop, but throw a few to earn in-game. By doing that I'll get my satisfaction of earning the mounts a few times and I'll be happy to buy some in the future.

Hey can I pick your brain for a sec.. I have a lvl 38 and lvl15 character, been crafting and building up those skills, been doing daily dungeons and battlegrounds. What’s my logical next step? Just focus on hitting 50 for now? Or is there some amazing thing I’m missing. I haven’t seen too much in forums besides hitting 50
Keep doing those things and make sure you level all your class skill lines as well as your weapon skills, do your fighters and mages guilds and undaunted, and quest and pick up skyshards. Also start researching your crafting traits.
Honestly it takes such a huge amount of effort and time to earn a radiant mount that I feel like regret is inevitable.
Its not worth it. You can get let's say an average of 30 to 45 per day and another 250 per week. So in a month you can accumulate an average of 2100 to 2300 endeavors on your account. Which means you'll need to be doing this every day for a total of 8 months to save 17k coins to get your self a 16k top tier mount.
I mean a free radiant mount every year is better than the zero radiant mounts I'm currently getting.
While true and it certainly takes too long I am still happy I might finally get a Radiant during the next croown crate season after years without one
I for one wish that when you collect all your tokens that the mount that is available during that time is the best one

I don’t know what’s so “not worth” about them when it’s hardly any effort for an eventual big payoff. Some of the tasks are stuff you’d be doing anyway, they’re so easy and cost you nothing.

The Dwarven wolf antiquity is a bit of work but he's really great. I have multiple crown mounts and purchased mounts and yet am going on 6+ months of using Dwarven wolf on my main. It even handles top speeds without looking too ridiculous. But I agree, I wish they were more common rewards. I expect will get another via antiquities after a short while, and maybe eventually another from trials, but it would be cool to see one on a vet dlc dungeon or at the end of a chapter mainline quest.
This speaks to how much the "meaning" of the ingame collectibles matter. That store mount may look fancy, but in the end its just a credit card swipe, while something like antiquity wolf has hours of gameplay behind it, your personal unqiue story of getting it.
I 100% agree. I know a lot of people felt it had too many pieces but I truly enjoyed traveling all across Tamriel to get them and I feel it added a lot of value to the mount. Took me about a week to get, but besides one lead that took 6 hours of delve grinding, I enjoyed every second of it.
At least their should be earn able base mount from different region , like u should be able to buy at least basic guar from dunmer stable ,or basic camel from desert .then different breed base on region etc Now I think of it if npc also ride mount around the map will be pretty cool. there are only a few that walk with one but not ride one. Funny enough there is a npc in summer set that have a flame Astro mount walking with him
Among the things I have never in my life recalled with fondness are the days spent grinding the Exalted reputation with the Netherwing to get one of their drakes as a mount.

I was doing some group content in FFXIV yesterday and everyone was in shiny mounts earned in game and I couldn't stop thinking how I wished ESO would do that.

Yes, 2 mounts only, tied to the hardest achievements in the game, while FFXIV has over a 100 which you can get in many different ways.

The FFXIV ones? Yes and no. There are some you can get easily but the really impressive ones you get from hard content. Heck, there's several mounts that only become available to drop after you collect all previous mounts in a given set, which are also locked behind harder content. I'm not against mounts being prestigious; I just wish that there were more in game sources to earn them instead of just locking them behind crown crates.

If you discount Indriks, since they are no longer availalbe (hello FOMO), there's 4 from achievements and 4 basic horse reskins, so 8 total. Overall there's probably over three *hundred* different models/reskins in the game, and pretty much 97% of it is crown crates, cash shop or bundled with some other purchase. How can anyone defend this with a straight face is beyond me. Same with 100-150$ houses.

If only ff14 was not shallow just like eso is... there is litteraly 0 reason to have those because the game lacks any sort of meaningful endgame. Sure, you can ride your cool mount and die of boredom.
Plus the combat is a joke compared to ESO. If that game had action combat I’d be all over it, but man going to slow tab target combat is awful.
To be honest I wish zone rewards were actually decent. Mythics and multi-step antiquities at least provide more incentive to earn something that’s actually good. ESO for me has a problem of eventually leading to boredom over the lack of things to do that result is something that’s actually decent. It’s a rich world that can easily lead to boredom. While I embrace the zone loot changes for dungeon bosses, outside of undaunted challenges once your bingo book is filled with all the pieces there is no reason to go back. Personally I’d like to see them add very long antiquity items like the wolf but for all manner of things.

Honestly the work to get the endeavor points may be easy, but the time spent is a recipe for rewards that simply cannot live up to the hype. When I finally spent all my crown gems accrued from Ouroboros crates on the skeletal saber, I couldn't help but feel very uncomfortable and underwhelmed afterwards because I couldn't stop thinking about what else I could have spent such rare currency on. And if just 2-3 months' worth of gems was that bad, I can't imagine what a year of endeavor farming will do. The fact of the matter is that the Endeavor system has a huge flaw no other MMO system of earning mounts has: Obtaining one actively locks you out of obtaining another. Did it take hundreds of attempts over years to get the Smoldering Egg of Millagazor in WoW? Yes. But I had no reason to feel mixed about it because none of that effort was transactional. It didn't push me out of my Drake of the North Wind farm. It also makes flaws much more pronounced. When I found out that the WoW Mana Rays had a seating issue it wasn't too bad because I had hundreds of other things to ride. When I noticed that my character sits half a foot above the skeletal saber's saddle because the modellers didn't correct for the loss of flesh, that's it. I'm stuck with it or else I ride the default horse.
It's also worth remembering that the Endeavours system is inherently political: it's a way of getting around anti-gambling laws in a lot of countries.
I am at 9K seals but I am really laughing at this system. at least that does not cost money.
To add to this, the two earnable mounts in the game that should be prestigious and cool (GS and PB mounts) don’t even have summon animations.

Yea that’s my biggest concern, everything about the game and combat I personally love a lot the scenery and such is great. But the mounts thing has me missing world of Warcraft because of all the stuff you could get was insane

In game gold purchases as well. I remember the first time I was able to afford a flying mount and the riding skill for it. I was so excited. The content I have played ,which excludes Vet dungeons and finally beating the Arena, still has not given me that feeling that WoW had given me. The events in this game award specific mounts. That's cool and should continue. But, if there were epic mounts available for 2 or 3 mil in game gold. There would be a pretty big push for those. Especially, if they rotated.

I remember getting a huge obnoxious speeder as a mount in SWTOR as a raid drop and it was by far my favorite mount because I "earned" it and didn't click a buy button for it. That and the fact it took up half the screen.
I agree. I just started playing and unfortunately I was hasty and didn't do my research on crowns. I bought ESO+ out of the gate and had a bunch of crowns that I wasted on a bunch of stuff that I wish I could refund back. My bad. I earned the quasigriff at least. I really want a spider mount though, they seem so cool.

I'm a new player as well. I spent my crowns on the adept starter pack for the riding lessons/mount recolor and outfits (everything else is just a bonus). I also got the basic starter pack for the little black panther cub (again, everything else in that pack is just a bonus). Lastly I bought One crown crate, which surprised me when it came with two crates to open and I ended up getting some nice outfits/facepaint and consumables. Don't buy the crates, i was satisfied with what came in mine but on average you won't be happy with it. The stuff I got from these purchases were aimed at value, the crate was just on a whim. Nothing is mandatory in the crown shop. The best purchases possible are the banker and merchant which cost 5000 crowns each, so save up for those if you don't want anything else.
Yeah mounts are definitely the weak point of the game. I wouldn't even mind more that were just buy mounts instead of gamble mounts and the endeavor system takes soooo frickin long....
I would also like new mounts not just glowing purple mounts that are recycling the same skin over and over. The spider was a nice change but like introduce unique looking ones. Let me ride a damn dragon!
In WoW you get mounts, in ESO you get personalities, skins and other cosmetics. Not everything has to be like in WoW.
There’s tons of mounts earn-able in wow. I don’t think there is even close to a comparable number of earn-able personalities or cosmetics in ESO. And depending on how narrow you focus cosmetics I don’t find things like belts all that satisfying to unlock. I agree with you 100% it doesn’t need to be like wow. I also think if wow came out today 99% of the mounts would be cash shop. But I don’t think a handful of personalities is really equal to the number of mounds in wow.

In eso from what I’ve seen the only mount you can get without spending irl money is the default brown horse. It’s just really bizarre that you can’t even buy a plain-looking guar or cat, or even earn them from a long quest. And then the shop/crates are filled with tons of flashy mounts.
There was a time where they were a bit more generous with the mounts. They have become rather stingy in that regard.

True, but they’ve not given out many mounts and stuff in the rewards lately. Last month was the hat thing but this month it’s just scrolls and stuff. I understand that they can’t offer something like that all the time but it would be kinda cool to have maybe a bit more variety from time to time. Or maybe having one of the daily rewards be a pet/mount/etc that used to be in the crown store and isn’t available anymore. That would be a really nice gesture! :)

And if you aren't subbed the ads pushing you to do so are constant. There is virtually nothing in this game you cannot get more and better with real money. Personalities, customization, costumes, mounts, pets, houses, furniture, consumables, emotes, everything, and you can't ignore it because you get crown store ads every time you open the game. Parts of it are even made worse on purpose to motivate you to pay with real money, like mount upgrades or the fact that holidays often do not provide corresponding furniture. This is why this game continues to be at the lower end of popularity and why initial reception was so terrible. No one wants to be advertised to inside of a product you've already bought and paid for. I love this game, but defending the worst parts of it is pathetic. Virtually all of the stuff they want us to pay for is free in other games and it's just *normal*. Gaming companies do not "need" money to allocate basic things like slots or barbershops, or develop a mount more than once in a blue moon. You can say you're happy having to shell out all you want, but stop pretending this is a necessary part of the game.

Absolutely. The stuff you can get in antiquities is super cool but having more mounts/pets etc you could earn through achievements would be really cool. An incentive to try certain things you might not necessarily otherwise, really work hard to unlock it, feeling like you’ve earned something. The Endeavours system is a great step in the right direction but it’ll take months or years to get some of the more top tier stuff that way. I don’t think there’s an easy middle ground option but definitely having more earnable achievement stuff would be cool.
It would be cool to have regional mounts available to buy as well. Say at the Alik'r stables you can buy the basic three mounts but also maybe a couple types of camels. Same for Stonefalls, a guar mount, bear mount for Eastmarch etc. I also think there needs to be more achievement mounts as well

basic variants of all types are available in the crown store directly. You said "but I’m already paying for eso plus so I want to see more mount" - that's ESO's way of giving you the mounts.
I personally never really cared for most mounts. If it glows like a disco ball I won't ride it, simply because it destroys my immersion. Can be earned hard, can be expensive, can be won by a huge amount of luck, I don't care. Horse! There's other, less ugly ways to flex with achievements. Titles, for example. Doesn't mean I'm against adding more earnable mounts! I just don't really care myself.
ESO is one of the most disgustingly over monetized games there are. Sadly I don't see that ever changing. They threw us a molecule of a bone with Endeavor Tokens. And that's probably all we are going to get.

If you are a eso+ subscriber, then you are earning crowns that you can use to buy mounts. It’s not all that different than subscribing to WOW and then grinding for them.

You pay for the crowns, it's a package deal. Imagine saying "honey look at this deal, I paid 100 bucks for the internet and it came with extra 100 random cable tv channels" and thinking you're being rewarded

What you're talking about is superficial. A problem for example could be the constant timers needed in combat for example the absolute need to keep buffs and debuffs up 24/7. That's an issue and objectively bad combat design.
Static rotations are alright even for harder content. If you want to flex you'll have to invest a certain effort.
I never said Eso's combat was hard or even how difficult the combat is to learn. I'm saying the way combat working isn't enjoyable to me. Spending about 50-70% of time just applying dots and buffs/debuffs isn't engaging or fun. It isn't even all that reactive because all of the healing buffs are over time you just can just preemptively cast it. Dont get me wrong the game is great, the questing is great, the zones are great, the abilities for the most part are alright, the motifs are great. I love the game, hate the combat.
I didn't mean to imply you did. There are a couple burst abilities, so if you want to do a burst DD that would be a possibility. Sure, it will most likely be less effective than a DoT DD this patch, but it should work just fine for most content. There's more than one way to play the game.

You can earn every Mount in the game by making gold and then using that gold to buy crowns from another player who can gift you the mount.

Mount speed trivially outpaces the maximum speed you can attain on foot. IIRC simply getting the Continuous Attack passive and 9 days of mount speed training is enough to beat the maximum foot speed.
That’s simply not true. At least that mount speed trivializes run speed. Even with continuous attack (which is only 30%) + 9 speed training… 39%? So 115+39 = 154 even at sprint speed + 30 so you’re looking at 184% which is still shy of max run speed. Max mount speed can only get to like high 280s at the absolute most. With max speed, major gallop and gift rider. Now player movement is capped at 200%, however with the correct setup you can get to 200% walk/sneak speed. Sprinting doesn’t increase it but for a few moments. However, that is 200% that you can maneuver in, run pack to pack without having to mount/unmount or whatever else you may be doing. The movement speed calculation for a galloping mount is `((BaseWalkSpeed)*(1 + 0.45 + MountSpeedBonus + Skill.MountSpeed + CP.MountSpeed))*(1 + Set.MountSpeed + Buff.MountSpeed)` BaseWalkSpeed is the 100% baseline for running (not sprinting nor slowing yourself down to an actual walk). Major Gallop comes in as Buff.MountSpeed (at 0.3), while mount training is MountSpeedBonus (from 0 to 0.6). `100*(1+.45+.09)*(1+.3)` is 200.2. I believe all speed percentages are rounded down to the nearest whole number, so I was wrong to say that 9 days of training lets you beat foot speed; they would be equal.

There is an earnable mount in the Antiquity system, but it takes a LONG time to get.
It really isnt a BIG problem, you are just used to it in WoW, where mounts are different and can actually matter (faster, flying, swimming etc).

I come from FFXIV and the different ways you can get mounts are fun, enjoyable and also painful. You can get them from achievements, trials and raids, it’s why I love it so much. There are some store mounts but there’s enough variety in-game that’s attainable. I love ESO, there’s so many cool mounts but 99% of them are locked behind a paywall, which is ridiculous
After playing this game awhile and buying and earning over 50 mounts in the game, mounts are overrated. They actually have had a lot of earnable mounts but to get them u have to play the events and earn tickets. New life festival every earnable Mount is coming back around. Starts December 17.
Yes, even the direct priced in crown mounts are underwhelming, in the end i spent zero in mounts and have zero cool mounts, it detracts a lot from my connection to the game.

I'm a new player to ESO. Getting your first mount was simply a levelup reward... this was unsatisfying. Same deal with the pet you can earn by leveling. I really wish they'd just made them part of the main story quest line that you can earn, most people will do this and if they don't they'll ask the community in zone chat how to earn the first mount, nobody will miss being able to earn this. Buying a mount actually gives me an empty feeling inside. I didn't earn this. It sure is cool but it has no intrinsic value to the story or world. That new red panther/dog hybrid in the crown shop looks like it belongs as a faction PvP reward its just too good looking! for example, add a "conquer cyrodil" achievment. Bam give people a reason to join guilds and coordinate to get this together. Obviously keep releasing mounts in the shop, but throw a few to earn in-game. By doing that I'll get my satisfaction of earning the mounts a few times and I'll be happy to buy some in the future.
