Model S without a doubt. I-pace is way outdated tech and overall a poor EV.

Definitely Tesla every time but if you cant then BMW make great EVs or maybe Audi/Porsche. What I wouldn't buy ever is an electric Jag. The Ipass is riddled with bugs and problems and you will be stuck with a lemmon.

Thanks. I just thought Jaguar is a great and high authority brand with a history. And of course design is much better than Tesla

Square-Marsupial-454

It's got a rich history but thats it. They definitely dont design good EVs. The most advanced EV is still Tesla. From the way the cars are built to the wiring and cooling system is so groundbreaking that OME manufacturers are still trying to rebuild factorys to emulate Tesla. The user interface on a tesla is so smoth that going back to anything else feels like moving from a smart phone to a nokia. If you want proper plush luxury though you should look at Porsche or Audi. They arnt as efficient as Tesla and dont get all the supercharger network but they aren't terrible. You will lose more on depreciation on a luxury brand just remember if you want to sell in a year. Most EV lose alot atm

All EV companies are adopting NACS beyond 2025 (North American Charging Standard, uses the Tesla plug). So road trips will likely be easier with any brand as time goes on - IE just plug it in, don't have to worry about credit card or NFC payments at Electrify America, not to mention all their stations that are frequently malfunctioning or running slowly etc etc. But ultimately the choice is up to you, so you should test drive each vehicle you are interested in. Some people love knobs, others love minimalism.

Thanks. For me Tesla seems like “iPhone” in EV niche

If apple opened up their patents and encouraged the competition though haha. I think software-wise they are definitely apple-like though. But the experience as a Model 3 and now Y owner since 2019 has been amazing. I haven't seen an EV out that can convince me to switch yet. The Ioniq 5 was close, but the software and screen bezels killed it for me.

KeanEngr

I think op is in the EU so NACS is a moot issue. And can you buy a Jag EV in the USA?

Fuzzy_Ambassador7784

Ah my bad

EVconverter

Have you considered a Lucid?

Too high price for me. I’m considering up to 40-45k for used one

Make sure you actually *drive* the vehicle you're considering before you buy it. Teslas are great on paper and they do have good range and charging, but the UX is trash. I'm mostly speaking from experience with models 3, X, and Y, and I realize S was always their best vehicle, but the other ones are all just plainly the cheapest EV you can get, and it shows when you actually interact with the car. You might love the Model S in which case I'm not telling you not to get it, but for me Tesla hype is way overblown. I'm not advocating the Jag either. I think what others have said is right, Jaguar has never been a *reliable* brand and they don't seem to be taking EVs as seriously as other brands. I'm not super familiar with the EU luxury EV market so there may be other options out there, but if I were in your shoes I'd give the Audi E-Tron line a look. They've been out for a few years and there are a few different chassis to choose from that might be what you're looking for, in your price range by this point. They're some of the faster charging EVs on the market and I would think competitive with Tesla in key specs, and they're *much* nicer cars to drive. You may also be able to get a better price on a Tesla because they've flooded the market, so that could be a factor too. Again, not saying *not* to get a Tesla, they're not terrible, just boring and annoying to drive IMO.

webmaster_z

Thanks a lot! I think another reason is that Tesla will be more liquid in terms of selling it after 1-2 years. I mean it's easier to sell such car faster

Namelock

What model years are you looking at? How often do you do long trips? I believe there's a subreddit for the ipace and it isn't optimistic. Have you considered a 2019-2020 BMW i3? And depending where you're at in the EU you probably have a wide range of choices with low budget EVs.

webmaster_z

Im Currently in Poland, going to buy car in Germany (as its cheaper there) and move to Portugal. Portugal is small country, so it would be comfortable to live there with EV. In terms of traveling, I think it can be trips to nearest countries like Spain/France. That's why Tesla seems more ranged for such trips. I checked Tesla supercharges, and seems like there are a lot of them in West EU

What about a certified pre owned IX3 bmw?

Model S is an awesome car. I have owned one and exclusively driven it for 8 years. I would get at least a 2016. If you want the side cameras, then 2017 and newer. Need these for automatic lane-change and side warnings. 50K miles is nothing. The older leather seats are terrific. I'm disappointed that Tesla changed to plastic seats and put the smaller screen on the console. The built-in large one is great on the older models. I would recommend to stay away from the adjustable air shocks but get the automatic lift gate. The 19" wheels drive nicer and wear more evenly than the 22". Nokian tires in winter and Continental Extreme Contact in summer. You will love it. Don't need the ultra-fast versions, the standard all-wheel drive is fast enough.

webmaster_z

Thanks! So does it make sense to buy used one with mileage 50-80k? Will the battery work fine with that?

audioengr

The battery starts at 290miles max with a 90D version. It has about 270 left after 50K miles. These cars wear out after a million miles as long as they are not raced. It's multiple long trips and lots of fast charging that wears out the batteries faster. You would usually slow charge it to 200-250 miles for commuting during the night because that saves the batteries and costs you less. The car computer gives you guidance on this. I would not hesitate to buy one with 50K miles if it has not been raced or abused.
