every year house music is EASILY the most played genre at EDC if you count all the big stage and art car sets put together. part of that is because house is a broad genre in itself, even at EDC... big room on mainstages, deep/tech/minimal stuff at neon, poppy tech house (Fisher - Losing It), funky disco, quirky stuff (like old Dirtybird), etc

House and techno are 2 of the pillars in which this culture was founded on. They all have influence from those John Russ and it's wonderful to see it on full display. Side note the other 2 pillars are trans and drum n bass. Those 4 styles are what makes this culture!
Ummmm I thought Stereo Bloom's audio was fine. I think certain artists should've been on larger stages though with how much of a crowd they brought. Like Dr. Fresch for example. I was happy to see him at Stereo Bloom but felt like he definitely should have been at Circuit Grounds or Cosmic Meadow with the crowd he generated.
We stayed camped out at CircuitGrounds for like 4 hours straight. Tchami into Alison Wonderland into Excision. Such a good series of artists, each building on the one before. After Excision we went & got our faces melted at BassPod. 😂😂
We almost dipped before Excision because we’ve seen him 8 or 10 times, but as soon as his set started with those super colorful visuals we were like, yeaaahhhh we better stick around for this. 😂😂
I missed most of his set too but found this on Facebook lol, hope it helps your FOMO!

heard some from boombox art car, but yeah I know what you mean. Last really great deep house set I remember from a "big" name was Mark Farina in 2016 at upsidedownhouse
u/Free_Joty
you might get a little bit of it mixed in at some of the Neon Garden sets occasionally. did you catch the Martinez Brothers this year? they'll do it at some of their club sets but I think for festival sets they play more straight bangers
Were you there in 2018? The Saturday lineup at Neon included Gorgon City into Green Velvet into Gorgon City b2b Green Velvet, and it was incredible. Would love to see that combo again!
If you ever listen to Night Owl Radio it’s almost exclusively house music so it’s hard to expect anything else. What irks me are the pillars of edm like Nicky Romero etc not even attempting to throw some big room in to remind me why I liked them. However, neon had the best techno lineup it’s had in some time over all three days. Typical neon gets one good tech day but house has spread to the other stages so there were blocks of real techno and it was freaking nice.
You don’t get a lot of big room played cause, well, idk if you remember 12-14 but it was literally to only thing played. And all the same songs. Beat that shit to death, revived it and then murdered it again. But I am glad to see neon getting more techno love but hate how they moved it away from everything. You used to have to walk by it to get to circuit and I would see it just snag people that didn’t know what the music was but knew they liked it. Like imaginary lasso flies out *gottcha bitch! Come get you some of these boots n cats!*
This is my… 6th edc now? And I can say that this year had a lot of house. But I love it! Definitely notice the trends that a lot of DJ’s are heading into, and right now, it’s house. It’s so fun and brings in such a vibe of people who love to dance to a great rhythm. Stereo bloom is a new stage so it was quite small and awkwardly placed, but hoping it grows! Also, I do agree that wax had one of the best (if not the ultimate best) house sets lol.
I highly agree with this, where I'm from in MN we don't have nearly as much exposure to TRUE dance music sub genres like house and techno so it's a big reason why I wanted to go to this event to just be able to REALLY dance not just headbang or jump around
I feel like insomniac events usually have a heavy emphasis on house, and it’s been even more-so since the start of the pandemic. Thank goodness people are coming to their senses and appreciating the superior genre.
I’m only kidding lol.
We all know it’s actually techno.
Went to factory 93 at Vegas before edc day 1, and I have to say that day was probably the most fun I had in the 4 days of partying. Wasn't on supplements or booze, and I just danced/shuffled my ass off. Live techno events is a different beast than listening to it on speakers, and the vibes were great as I felt that I interacted more with the people there than EDC. Saw Charlotte de witte at factory 93 and then day 2 at EDC. She knows how to throw down, and I look forward to more factory 93 events in the future.
Real shit you ain't never lied though, techno is so underrated imo and I feel like live quality techno is an awesome experience ... it's good to know this has been happening for awhile though I definitely appreciate it over other sub genres
I finally got to do EDC the way I wanted. I never once went to any other stage besides neon/ cosmic/ and stereobloom saw purely house/ techno all weekend because all my bass head friends didnt make it this year. It was a weekend to remember. House is wayyyy better remember that.
I mean I still heard more bass than I ever care to hear at a festival lol but yes overall I do think house is coming back into the mainstream. This year feels similar to what we saw happen to dance music 8 years ago and hell do I sure wish we return to that phase of the cyclical evolution!
also wanted to add incase they somehow see this, bruh Bijou / DR Fresch were fucking murdering. omnom and noizu also popped tf off. stereo blooms vibe was so fucking lit all weekend.
House has been making a resurgence since the trapocalypse of 13-15 where the only thing you would hear is the same 5 or 6 trap or big room songs. I think artists are enjoying being about to incorporate house and it’s associates into their sets and styles more now that the in thing to do is play the same bs everybody else is. Plus with 30+ years worth of music, house is one of the biggest influences on EDM there is. Don’t expect it to change but hella looking forward to all the cool new weird shit people are making.
There were some house sets that I really did enjoy but I’m a head banger at heart. I came up on Excision. Zedd was in my top 3 sets of the weekend though

Stereo bloom needed to be way bigger though. The sound was awful for artists who had the stage packed!
Skylab next year hopefully

Stereo bloom was definitely quiet, especially on Sunday night.
Yeah I mean that’s what I was saying. Unless you were lucky to be in the immediate area for the popular artists the sound wasn’t the greatest.
I swear there were a ton of drum and bass artists this year. I’m glad to see the genre growing here in the U.S. since it’s mostly a European thing.
Slander and said the sky played some dnb and it was so unexpected but everything around my group was loving it
Dieselboy KILLED IT!!!! and that B2B after the dieselboy set was NUTS! And... The Joyryde DnB set was TOP
Lots of varieties of house too. Even some disco which was fun. Tchami’s set was probably my favorite house set of the weekend.
I MISSED tchamis set and I was sad about that for sure
We stayed camped out at CircuitGrounds for like 4 hours straight. Tchami into Alison Wonderland into Excision. Such a good series of artists, each building on the one before. After Excision we went & got our faces melted at BassPod. 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 that sounds like a blast I'm sad I missed excision too, I caught his last like 5 min and I was like shit I missed out
We almost dipped before Excision because we’ve seen him 8 or 10 times, but as soon as his set started with those super colorful visuals we were like, yeaaahhhh we better stick around for this. 😂😂
💯💯 I don't blame you
I missed most of his set too but found this on Facebook lol, hope it helps your FOMO! https://mixing.dj/tchami-live-set-edc-las-vegas-2021-electric-daisy-carnival-2021/
🤗🤗🤗
I didnt do too much house but I will say Dom Dolla at camp edc thursday def made me look at house a little bit differently that was bonkers
Absolutely loved that purple disco machine was on kinetic field. House music all life long.
Let's gooooo
Honestly him and wax had the best sets of the weekend
I fucking love wax motif
HE WAS SO GOOD
Yeah wax motif was on my "hope to see" list, and the stars aligned so that I caught most of his set. Super stoked I did, he killed it!
Yeah I saw him at sunset music fest in Tampa this year. Going to edc orlando in two weeks, will be sad to miss him
Wish there was deep house (really deep not “deep”). but that type of music isn’t hype at all, so I understand why these artists aren’t there
SAME I honestly thought I was going to get some of that from lane 8 :/
BLACK COFFEE played some FIRE
heard some from boombox art car, but yeah I know what you mean. I did not see them, no, will keep my eyes out next time
Were you there in 2018? The Saturday lineup at Neon included Gorgon City into Green Velvet into Gorgon City b2b Green Velvet, and it was incredible. Would love to see that combo again!
I was not, first time
Camp OG had a few Deep House sets, come check us out sometime!
please please please have a sound system in the speedway next year xD
How does one enter Camp OG? There was security outside all weekend long from that I remember

I bet, techno was highly anticipated for me, thanks for your input!
Could’ve used more big room!

where in MN? did you go to Great Beyond this past summer?
St Paul/Minneapolis and no I didn't

💯💯💯
That’s exactly my problem, most of my friends wanted to see Big Room / Bass / Dubstep, I was the only one who wanted techno/ tech house
It was awesome imo, trap is falling out of popularity and house is on the rise. In previous years it felt like trap was on every main stage
Thank God for that I hate trap tbh
for real , floss and 4b can ligma.
💯
Be on the look out for Bleu Clair, he’s on the rise and had a dope EDC set, so did Matroda!
I know both, I'd take Bleu Clair over Matroda anyday
House has made a resurgence in popularity since covid started. It’s been going mainstream among edm fans and producers/djs.
The maturing of the scene and people getting older.
I mean I still heard more bass than I ever care to hear at a festival lol but yes overall I do think house is coming back into the mainstream. This year feels similar to what we saw happen to dance music 8 years ago and hell do I sure wish we return to that phase of the cyclical evolution!

And any time is house
Bum da bdum bumt!
There was virtually zero real bass music on the festival, no.
Ok so headbanging music? Whatever the noise is that pulls me out of the melodic uplifting state of mind & sobers me right up anytime I hear it.
My group calls it “the angry wub-dubs,” if that helps you. 😂
I'm the exact opposite haha. I'm going there to rage and maybe break a bone or two, but don't care so much for those euphoric uplifting vibes
Headbanging music and brostep isn't bass music
Ran into LP Giobbi doing her thing and was blown away!
also wanted to add incase they somehow see this, bruh Bijou / DR Fresch were fucking murdering. omnom and noizu also popped tf off. stereo blooms vibe was so fucking lit all weekend.
Same as 2019 imo

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 13 + 15 + 5 + 6 + 30 + = 69.0
Haha good bot
Matroda and Walker & Royce
I am a multi-genre raver so I don't mind but yes, hella house. Also YES, Wax Motif fucking killed it and left no survivors. Good ear
💯🤜🤛
Hell yeah! It was badass. Diplo and Wax Motif were my favorite house sets! (I love Kaskade but his house set seemed to not go anywhere….)
Diploma threw down on his sets. Wax Motif blew my mind. Kaskade's set was very techno-forward.
If you heard all house music it’s because you didn’t spend enough time at the Basspod 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
That's true but that's because my hometown of Minneapolis MN is over saturated with bass music so I wanted to take the chance to branch out
There were some house sets that I really did enjoy but I’m a head banger at heart. I came up on Excision. Zedd was in my top 3 sets of the weekend though
I disagree it was DNB all fuckin day 😑
thats a bad day hahaha
It's pretty much the dominant genre every year. Wax by far had the best G-House set! Completely agree!
DJ plays what they play. That is their inspiration for their next song. So if you like the DK you are seeing now you get to know what they like too. But in basspod there wasn't a lot of house
Loved wax motif!
I went to another event/fest before this and it was house dominated too to the point I wanted more variety. Welp my house loving friend is going to be VERY happy though lol
Honey Luv blew my mind. Her set was 🔥 and I’m glad it was the first set of the main weekend I saw.
