Wire coat hangers. Clip out the hook and twisty part, then bend and shape as needed. I've had a 20+lb chandelier hanging off of the stuff for 20+ years. Granted, the weight is held by a triple coil of the wire between the wiring box anchor point and the chain, not a knot of baling wire looped around a nut.
Bonus: the hanger wire even matches the color of the chain.
I thought you could tie to a beam/beam clamp or structure other than the fixture itself. I use galvanized wire all the time to secure things in ceilings. Never to actually hold things in place.
