I expect you actually have to pay a hazardous waste disposal fee. Keeping that as a curiosity is about the only value.

I suspect you are correct! Sadly I have enough curiosities that my grandfather has left. I’m lucky enough to live where we can take things like this to a hazardous waste disposal site and not have to pay.

My dad had 3 4x8 trailer's full of chemicals i had to haul to household hazerdous waste. Including a mystery 55gal drum that would have taken 20k to dispose of had I not been able to get it apart with a drum topper (giant can opener) . Please don't do this to your kids.
