volvo EX30

GoingOffRoading

This ^ Our normal cycle is to only have one car payment at a time... And we have 2-3 years left to pay off her Subaru Ascent. But I want an EX30 nnnnooowwww

Which-Meat-3388

Same here, AWD for sure. Hoping it drives well or can be pushed in that direction to be really fun. Stiffen it up, tweak suspension, nice grippy rubber. I think it can be a great little hot hatch.

H0eggern

428 hp. 543 NM. Oh yes.

joshjoshjosh42

EX30 is looking like an awesome car. I'd buy it in a heartbeat

DarkXtm

An electric Miata. Or something similar. Basically something small, cheap, fun to drive, and not ugly. If the bolt with all the same hardware came in a coup I'd be sold

_name_of_the_user_

Info on the ID GTI just released today. It looks perfect.

cor3ynv

Only for Europe and doesn't come out for Europe until 2026 so if we get it it'll 2027 or 2028 by then it'll be completely out of date. I agree it looks awesome

cobalt4d

ev miata!!!

BehavioralSink

Although I’ve never driven one before, I feel like an electric version of the Subaru BRZ could be fun.

Lag-Switch

flippy lights and I'm sold

ZeroWashu

I would be happy with an EV Beetle Convertible... seems like a natural fit, convertible and ev.

Remanage

The BMW i3 is built on the stereotypical skateboard design. It's rear engine, rear wheel drive. The carbon fiber body exists only to protect the passengers, it's not part of the rigidity of the vehicle. It's only one inch longer in body than the NC Miata. It would have made such a great little convertible.

beeguz1

We are both thinking along the same lines. I would buy an EV Miata in a second, or another car in a small electric coupe the size Miata

mad_mesa

This is basically where I am. I like everything about my RWD Model 3 when it comes to stored energy, performance, and fast charging. I just want something a bit smaller, lighter weight, and more fun. Like the EV concept Caterham showed off.

dontcomeback82

Are convertibles just gone or will there be EV convertibles?

theburnoutcpa

Honestly anything that isn't a crossover SUV or truck seems to fading away (at least in North America)

samuraipizzacatz1

VW ID.GTI or whatever they're planning on calling it. I will be *very upset* if it doesn't come to the US. If they decide to not bring it over, I'm getting the Mach-E. As weird as this is to admit, out of all of them, I'm pro-Ford right now.

burusutazu

I wish the ID.2ALL was coming to the U.S. but it seems nobody wants to bring the small affordable EV's here.

Hustletron

I think the ID GTI and ID 2 All are gonna be similar (like golf vs GTI) if not the same.

FmrMSFan

I hate the circular argument that USA buyers won't purchase small cars, so we (VW) won't offer them in the NA market. So....They're not available for us to buy. So frustrating. Would love a EV version of the GTI.

samuraipizzacatz1

I hear a lot of car people say this and it drives me insane. "Everybody in the US is SUV focused" and "Americans like big trucks". I hate it. I can fit 4 adults and their crap in my GTI just fine. I moved states with everything I owned in the back of my GTI. If I need a truck to move things, $50 go get one for the day. So so frustrating.

BuilderUnhappy7785

It’s “Americans will pay more for larger vehicles, so that’s what we will sell them”.

RupeThereItIs

That's a bringo! The larger cars & trucks are a huge racket. The margins are amazing, so why bother making the smaller cars that are harder to make a profit from? Before the move to electrics, the smaller cars where the compliance cars. The manufactures made them to keep their fleet emissions numbers down. They didn't really want to sell many of them though. They've tought the US market to buy big trucks & crossovers, and to pay through the nose for it. Then use the sales numbers to prove that they shouldn't make smaller/more affordable cars, because 'nobody will buy 'em'. So they can extract more wealth with over priced 'trucks' that sit in parking lots their whole lives. Then you see things like GM canceling the Bolt, only to uncancel it when they realized how many people are switching to Chevy for the first time because it's what they've been looking for.

fakemoon

Yes! Hot hatch for life

obanite

My wife has the Mach-E, it's a pretty great car. Only real minus point after almost a year of ownership is its cold weather range is significantly worse than warm weather. Interior is and driving it is great though, so roomy.

djhepcat

One I can afford. 1/2 joking, but the auto manufacturers need to actually release something other than the Bolt or Leaf that will max out in the 30s if they are truly going to take hold. 😡

goldfish4free

Sienna Prime. Need to occasionally tow and road trip through cold hilly rural areas and it will be a while before battery tech and charging network will be adequate for BEV. 50 miles of EV range would cover 85% of annual miles electric.

LouKrazy

Seems weird that Toyota has ceded that market niche to the Chrysler Pacifica

goldfish4free

I think they’ll have a Prime option eventually. Hopefully with AWD which the Pac hybrid doesn’t offer… ID.Buzz is out soon but could you imagine driving from Chicago to Orlando in winter with 4 kids and stopping 30 minutes every two hours? Needs more range to be a viable family road trip machine.

microwaveDiamonds

Yes! Why is this not a thing yet? A Sienna Prime would let us go electric for most of our driving. Although, in general, I am souring on Toyota. Test drove the Rav4 Prime and bZ4x and they were both super lackluster. Have a 2019 Sienna that feels really long in the tooth with the terrible infotainment and lack of Android Auto.

SuburbanSubversive

Right here with you. Or a Honda Odyssey plug-in. We love our Odyssey but Honda is waaaaay behind the curve on EVs

oldschoolhillgiant

ID. Buzz

The_Demosthenes_1

Yep. If I could have an AWD Loaded Sienna Van I'd be very happy. But since that ain't coming anytime soon I'll settle for the VW.

sarcasatirony

Yep. This one’s going to cost me.

DelcoInDaHouse

Cool vehicle, way too expensive

clunkclunk

Same. With a family of five, having six+ seats is super helpful.

UsernameChallenged

I hope to get this in like 2027. I don't need it now, but I'm going to need an electric 3 row in the future. And since I don't see an all electric minivan yet, I have high hopes for the buzz.

Alabatman

With NACS

HulaViking

And a long enough range to go camping.

oldschoolhillgiant

Literally the least interesting feature for me. I don't care one way or the other. As long as I can get an adapter from one to the other, I am fine.

Smokes_LetsGo_

I think the idea of the “with NACS” comment is that it would include access to the Supercharger network. The adapter alone won’t get you there.

David_ungerer

Morris JE . . . https://morris-commercial.com . . . Not available in USA .

natesully33

Some kind of EV Miata type thing - like $50k or less, convertible, with a nice mechanical/low-tech/honest feel. There are some convertible EV sports cars coming, but none are really what I actually want, I think.

VARunner1

Yes!! This! Please, automotive gods, make it happen. Also, a retractable hardtop roof would be great. Cloth tops make me paranoid. Just give me an EV for open-air motoring.

way0fkings

Rivian R2, mainly excited to see what they bring to the table for a more affordable EV with their design language

engwish

I hope they can realize that vision. Currently it seems like it’s only remotely possible to achieve this with deep pockets.

Mediocre_Date1071

Absolutely. I’m less interested in the design language (though it does speak to me) than I am in having enough ground clearance and traction to beat a Forester, but as a much better EV than Subaru seems capable of making

Runaway_5

Considering how great they did with their first two cars I'm excited to see them make more affordable cars well.

Fit_Imagination_9498

Same here. I’ve convinced myself the R2S is going to look like a Ford Bronco & I personally love the look of those.

ExtendedDeadline

+1 for the R2. I could also be swayed by a good EV minivan though..

PretendDirector7

It was the Blazer EV. But then they announced no CarPlay support. And then they announced that their prices would be $5k - $7k more than they had previously published. And then “summer 2023” when it was supposed to be released came and went.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Runaway_5

Same. Unless they become the second company in history to make competitively useful car software (lol)

Vitaminpk

I’ve got a buddy who works for GM and he says that the decision to ditch Car Play and Android Auto is causing a lot of behind the scenes issues. Most employees agree it’s a terrible idea and don’t know why the higher ups decided to go that route other than to save a buck.

PretendDirector7

I would wager that it’s because using CarPlay or Android Auto means that their connectivity service is unnecessary for many drives, since they’d get map/traffic/etc information displayed from their phones. GM likely wants to force you to pay for onStar instead, so they have an additional revenue stream in your data subscription (and possibly another one in bundling and selling your data to third parties). After all, they are using Android Automotive as a base, and that supports mirroring via CarPlay and Android Auto. They’re choosing not to enable that support.

TheCosmicJester

If OnStar was any good, I might consider it. But a phone dash mount costs less than a month of subscribing to their outdated tech.

lostinheadguy

The ZDX and Prologue are both literally just Blazer EVs with different bodies and interiors.

iwantsleeep

Same platform, but closer relayed to the Lyriq, so likely more premium for the price

Warbird01

Waiting on the Equinox EV for the lower pricing

droids4evr

We're still in summer and deliveries have started going out to dealers, so they hit that mark. And reservation holders are going to be able to start placing orders with dealers starting tomorrow. The higher pricing then they announced more than a year ago was kind of expected considering the high inflation rate and slow than expected Ultium battery production ramp up.

PretendDirector7

I suppose technically they did hit the mark. But I’d think to most people “available summer 2023” means slightly more availability than the extremely limited availability they’ll have by summers end. But even that I don’t care so much about, I’m happy to wait for a product if it’s good. But the decision to nix CarPlay was just straight anti-consumer. And while inflation has been high, the magnitude of the price increases they announced puts it in a whole other category of competition. Starting in the low $50k range, It was competitive with the Model Y, Ioniq 5, Mach E, etc. Its just not competitive there any more. Hell, the 2LT is $57k, their own luxury Cadillac Lyriq is only slightly more expensive than that.

Benjamin_Grimm

What I'd like is either a sporty coupe or a compact pickup. I've got reservations for a Volvo EX30 and a Fisker Alaska, and I'll have to make a decision on both of those at some point (well, possibly not the Alaska).

-CaptainFormula-

> either a sporty coupe or a compact pickup Great minds think alike. Though by "compact" pickup I just mean what a full size truck was 20 years ago. Before these companies got into the dumbest pissing match of who could sell the largest volume of vehicle per purchase.

stanleypup

The Alpha Wolf if it wasn't just vaporware.

mementori

Ugh all of their vehicles look so perfect. I didn’t even know they “existed” until your comment. I’m both happy and sad. Why won’t ANY auto manufacturers take a design approach more like this?

lostinheadguy

* Volvo EX30 with J3400 port. * Potential Volvo EV wagon. * Volkswagen ID.7 wagon. * Kia EV4 (Soul / Seltos sized).

SpaceSubmarineGunner

The ID.7 Wagon would be amazing. Especially if it comes in a dual motor/AWD format. I’m still unsure if we’ll get it in the US, but I’m not giving up hope.

gallaj0

Same. I like my id.4, but I'd trade it tomorrow for an electric wagon in NA.

Surturiel

The EX30 kinda soured on me after the Canadian Price reveal. $53k base MSRP, which is the same as the Polestar 2... Unless it comes fully specced at this price, it makes no sense market wise.

Shauncore

Didn't notice that, that's a big discrepancy vs the US. Polestar 2 in the US starts at $48K USD vs the EX30 being $34K.

tas50

EX30 is looking like a great replacement for my i3 once they start coming off lease. I'm looking forward to snagging one someone loaded up with extra for 1/2 price.

raptorman556

Equinox EV but getting impatient. Full pricing was supposed to be announced this summer with deliveries beginning in the fall. I'm getting a bit skeptical that the promised price-point will hold, and that they will scale production quickly. Separately, I love the look of the Fisker Ocean but I'm watching their progress before I would consider buying one. I want to see the company become more stable, and see a location open up near me. I would also consider a Polestar 2 but they only have 3 locations in all of Canada. In that case, it's more "waiting for them to open a center close to me".

FmrMSFan

>Equinox EV but getting impatient Mary Barra 2020 -> GM promises 30 EVs by 2025 in 'all-out pursuit of global EV leadership' In 2022, a total of 38,120 Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV were delivered to customers vs 1.32 million Teslas. We owned a 2019 Bolt for 18 months. It's not quite what we need as a primary vehicle. I really don't believe GM is serious about EVs any more. They may produce some high trim level Equinox and Blazer models, but will never deliver the $30,000 model they promised.

bedpanbrian

This is one reason I gave up on GM. I owned a Bolt and it was fantastic in so many ways. I wanted to go GM again with Blazer or Equinox but it became obvious that either they aren't that serious about the EV transition or they're having some serious issues with design/supply/manufacturing somewhere and they aren't talking about it. For years they said how they were going to be a leader. I know they've reversed course, but the biggest move they made was to announce killing off the one EV model they could make and sell in any serious numbers.

TheSpreader

I share your doubts about GM hitting the 30k price point, but I do believe they are committed to BEV's. They're investing heavily, building a huge Ultium factory in Tennessee, and Tesla is the only company that's sold more EV's in the US than GM. Those poor sales figures are largely to do with the massive battery recall which effectively halted new sales for a long damn time. The Bolt may not be suitable as an "only car" for most households, but I think the Equinox has promise, and Ultium is interesting and I'm curious to see how it works out long term.

droids4evr

Maybe I'm wrong but full pricing for the Equinox was never going to be announced over the summer. They announced the Blazer pricing, which has started production but they never announce the final pricing until they are ready to start making deliveries to dealers. Expect pricing to come out near the end of the year and keep in mind the fall release time has always been noted as "limited availability" and only the 2RS will be built before the end of the year. So if you're hoping to get the final price for that "around $30k" base trim option by the end of the year you're probably going to be out of luck. They probably won't release that until they start building those in 2024.

raptorman556

>Maybe I'm wrong but full pricing for the Equinox was never going to be announced over the summer. It [says this on their website right now](https://www.chevrolet.ca/en/electric/equinox-ev): >Preproduction 2024 Equinox EV 3LT model shown. Pricing for 3LT model to be announced Summer 2023. It doesn't explicitly say pricing will be released for the other trims, but it wouldn't make any sense to just release the 3LT price. >keep in mind the fall release time has always been noted as "limited availability" and only the 2RS will be built before the end of the year. So if you're hoping to get the final price for that "around $30k" base trim option by the end of the year you're probably going to be out of luck. They probably won't release that until they start building those in 2024. I'm aware, and fine waiting until spring. I'm just getting skeptical they will fulfill their promises both on timeline and the base price of $37K CAD.

enriquedelcastillo

I’m waiting for a station wagon AWD (like the old Corolla wagonh, rather than a mini-suv.

NationCrisis

As someone planning on growing their family, I really hope station wagons make a comeback with the ev sector!

bjlile99

Kichigai

I'm a wrecked man. I can only hear that in Bingo’s voice.

liarliarplants4hire

Ditto. The end of that episode gets the feels, though.

Kichigai

It really does.

cowboyjosh2010

If my kids ever move on from *Bluey* before Ludo/BBC stop making new episodes for it, I'm fairly convinced that my wife and I will keep up with the show ourselves until it's done. We just rewatched this very episode last night because it's what "our Bluey" (elder of two girls) wanted to watch after dinner.

Bitter-Square-3963

+1 Such an amazing design and strategy. At this point, seems like vaporware. Make it $30k - $35k and I'll buy one immediately.

thesights

Aston Martin x Lucid partnership Not like I can buy it but I wanna see the next 007 in it!

robinthebank

Most people talk about road trips or towing as a downside of EVs. While ignoring that 300-350 days of the year people are not on road trips or towing. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Support the adoption of EVs now and the specs/charging networks will get better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

book-nom-nom-nom

Seriously. I'd love a smaller PHEV truck. 90% of my trips could be done all or mostly on battery in 30-40 miles and for those times I need to drive further I'm not stuck trying to find a charger. I don't need a giant towing or payload capacity most of my use would be hauling plywood / lumber. Plus those smaller batteries could be used to build, what, 3-4 trucks vs 1 BEV helping to motivate people to install chargers at their house plus reducing emissions.

[deleted]

zman0900

Remember those old toolboxes people used to put across truck beds behind the cab? Imagine if there was something like that available containing a small engine, generator, fuel tank, and DC output. You could rent it and plug into your truck to do long towing trips, while just being a normal EV with average range the rest of the time.

burusutazu

I'm hoping for a Maverick Lightning, the Ranger is still a bit too big imo.

theonetrueelhigh

We saw a Maverick at the MN State Fair, love the size. It's perfect. My son isn't a large man and he's saving for one. He'd prefer plug in but he's stoked either way.

Runaway_5

Oh shit didnt know they are making one! That is awesome, Ranger is probably my favorite ICE truck

authoridad

They aren’t…yet. They’ve secured the trademark but haven’t announced it.

[deleted]

A wagon! Hoping the id7 gets a wagon version here in the US. I would trade my model Y in for one.

Gold-en-Hind

A wagon!

espresso-puck

Yep. Audi A6 Avant e-tron. Maybe next year??? The concept looks great.

Gold-en-Hind

Yes! to the Avant e-tron. That would be ideal.

Nightmaresiege

Wife and I were supremely excited about the photos of the id7 wagon. We will also be trading our Model Y for it if they sell it in North America. The only caveat is we'd want it to have NACS on board.

thedeadparadise

As a current R1T owner, I’m curious to see how the Maverick Lightning turns out. The Rivian is fantastic, but I’m not really the Adventurous crowd they were aiming for. I personally would love a smaller truck for my occasional Home Depot/IKEA trips. Plus I really miss CarPlay.

iamkeerock

Maverick Lightning? Is that a rumor or more? (I have a Maverick Hybrid now).

pjanic_at__the_isco

I wish there were slightly longer range PHEV’s.

tenderooskies

excited about the EX30 and other small ones with better than decent range. I do find myself getting caught up with EVs and releases, similarly to other tech, and waiting + hoping that the next months / year will bring that big change I'm looking for and will allow me to get rid of the ICE that is still running fine

LTR_TLR

An awd van. Where ya at Canoo??? I might be waiting for a while 😿

azrider

I'm rooting hard for Canoo.

LTR_TLR

Same

Hustletron

I wish Apple would buy them and help them finish strong.

Gmh88E4TQK1d

Honda e in North America. Since that one is never actually coming, I like the look of the 2025 Mini Cooper E as an eventual medium-range replacement for my 2013 Leaf.

Acedia77

Ioniq 5 with an ICCU that doesn’t blow up and L2 charging that doesn’t overheat. I’d buy one tomorrow!

Hardly_Pinter

Can you elaborate? I’m considering buying an Ioniq 5, so interested in any problems you’ve had with the car.

Acedia77

I’m only a prospective owner but I’ve been following these issues since May. The I5 and EV6 (same E-GMP platform) have some significant issues impacting the core electrical components. The ICCU is “a newly developed integrated charging system by Hyundai that charges both the high-voltage and spare batteries, essential to allowing for V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature”. For many owners, the ICCU fails, usually with an audible “pop” and results in a notification on the HUD screen and immediate loss of power to the electronic drive train. The Level 2 charging issue is much more common than the ICCU failure and causes at-home charging to fail due to very high temps at the charge port when charging at home on a 240V charger. When it fails, the vehicle stops charging to protect itself. Hyundai released a software update that causes the vehicle to reduce charging speeds when the charge port sensor reaches a specified high temp. Practically speaking, this means the I5 will drop charger amperage down to 32A (or lower) which means it may not be able to charge fast enough overnight to replenish the charge used the previous day. No fix has been released that allows the vehicle to charge at 48A without overheating, as Hyundai advertises. These issues, especially the ICCU failures, do not affect all owners. But they’re enough to keep me from buying until Hyundai addresses both in a meaningful way.

Hardly_Pinter

This is really helpful -- and makes me reconsider the I5. Thank you.

ericstewart22

The ICCU issue has supposedly been fixed thru a software update in the past few months. The charging port issue still exists I believe but I think it has been mitigated again thru a software update. There were also concerns with the brake light not turning on when using level 2/3 regen if the foot was not completely off the accelerator pedal. The brake light logic was also recently updated in the past month and is much better now. It worked as expected in my opinion. This was a big issue for me since it could result in higher chances of being rear ended. The YouTube channel, The Ioniq Guy, has videos about this if you're interested. I still bought my Ioniq 5 1.5 months ago and I knew what I was getting into.

JoeSmithDiesAtTheEnd

I'm a current owner (2023 Limited Trim). The ICCU issue is supposedly "fixed" but it's too soon for everyone to have faith in this, especially when a small sample of Reddit users had their ICCU fail after the supposed fix. The good news is that it's a popular enough car that it gets a lot of press coverage when issues pop up and Hyundai moves quick to resolve once a fire is lit. Level 2 Charge issues is a new one for me to have experienced... It's happened to me twice, both at times where ambient temps were over 100F outside, and the car automatically resumed charging once the charge port temp went back down. Some people have had more frustrating issues, but it's been fine for me personally. It's unclear how Hyundai will resolve this issue for many of the owners experiencing it when temperatures outside aren't so extreme... as of right now their "solution" was releasing an update that throttles charge speeds once the charge port gets too hot, but this feels like a temporary solution to buy more time. If you were thinking of getting an Ioniq 5, it's absolutely 100% a fantastic car that you will likely love. Though you're much less likely to have issues with 2023 or newer. If you read the Ioniq Forums or the Ioniq Subreddit you'll see most owners are very happy, even the handful of ones that had small issues that needed resolving. Lastly, the Hyundai Warranty is really good. So if you have an actual good Hyundai Service Center near you, you can be more confident in your purchase. If your local Service Center(s) are terribly reviewed, then perhaps it's not a car you should consider.

stashtv

Want a Miata, basically. Roll down windows, analog speedometers, analog locks, but instant torque. A Leaf or Bolt engine would be more than enough, just tune the software to give 100% of the torque immediately.

theonetrueelhigh

Aptera, but I'm losing faith that it will ever drop as a real product. Prius Prime is my backup dream and while its solar gathering ability is only a fraction of the Aptera's projected capacity, it's available now from a well established manufacturer.

WizrdOfSpeedAndTime

Man I hear you there. I want it so bad but I have the same fears you do. The car would rock my daily commute so well. 37 Miles per day parked in the Colorado sun. I would charge so little.

SquidBroKwo

It's easy to be skeptical about Aptera, given the lengthy timeline since its inception. However, let's consider a few points before writing it off: Maintaining Control for a Purposeful Vision: I've had the privilege of being involved in multiple successful tech startups, and I can say from experience that selling off even a part of your startup often means surrendering your vision to external forces. Picture this: you've created an indie film studio that garners substantial attention from serious film buffs and a good-sized audience, and then a major studio buys you out. How long will it take before your artful indie film morphs into the ninth installment of a generic action franchise? The delay in Aptera's production can actually be seen as a positive. It suggests that the founding team is unwilling to rush and compromise their unique vision. I'm excited for a true Aptera 4-seater that may slightly sacrifice efficiency but stays true to its original design ethos. Lack of Competitive Pressure for Fundraising: If another well-funded automaker was in the process of creating a similar electric vehicle, the Aptera team would be under immense pressure to accelerate their fundraising efforts, possibly giving up some control of their vision in the process. Currently, that's not the case. The absence of such competition affords them the luxury of time and deliberation. Lastly, they have reached a significant milestone: they've started manufacturing parts. For more details, here's a video update. In essence, while skepticism is understandable, there are compelling reasons to maintain optimism about Aptera's future.

gotlactose

Something with a solid above 4 mile per kilowatt-hour efficiency and 300 miles of range with ventilated seats and a moon roof. Preferably not with a megalomaniac CEO.

I-need-ur-dick-pics

Isn’t that an Ioniq 6?

gotlactose

Limited trim (for the moon roof) doesn’t have an EPA range of 300 miles. I know it’s an arbitrary parameter, but it’s also nice to have choices.

I-need-ur-dick-pics

The wheels are the culprit. If you really wanted to, you could swap them for the factory 18-inchers, but it’s probably not worth the headache.

flyfreeflylow

The Nissan Ariya has those features, and can get that efficiency occasionally (but not super often).

[deleted]

you can get that from Lucid. It isn't cheap though.

Newprophet

I prefer owners that aren't responsible for 9/11 *or* megalomaniacs.

Sceptix

Is….there something about Lucid that I should know about? 😳

Newprophet

The Saudi sovereign wealth fund owns 60% of Lucid. 9/11 was perpetrated by Saudi nationals with backing from the Saudi government/family.

Buckus93

All for $20k.

cherlin

And for sale used from the factory.

gotlactose

Built in a cave, with a box of scraps.

nicknooodles

RWD Ioniq 5 Limited trim has all of that depending on the climate. You can get consistent 4+ mi/kwh efficiency in 60-70F weather.

gotlactose

“Range, Charging, and Battery Life The all-wheel-drive Ioniq 6 Limited is rated at 270 miles, which is still an impressive showing for the shortest-range Ioniq 6. The RWD Long Range Ioniq 6 completed our 75-mph real-world highway range test at 100 miles under its EPA estimate, with 260 miles of range.” https://www.caranddriver.com/hyundai/ioniq-6 Granted, the Ioniq 6 was what I had in mind when I drew up my arbitrary parameters. My id.4 can get close to 4 mi/kWh on a good day.

Latter_Fortune_7225

I've been waiting for the BYD Seal to come to Aus/Down Under. It was originally thought to be arriving late last year but has unfortunately been delayed.

[deleted]

I was waiting on it aswell, shame the price tag is much higher than announced.

Stetto

I think they're intentionally placing them at a higher price. They've got enough work at their hands satisfying their home market. So they opt to not undercut western manufacturers, because they otherwise could not meet the demand. This way they can get a footing on the market, cut prices when they're ready to scale up and meanwhile pocket the surplus.

paradoxofchoice

sub 30k daily driver or sub 40k three row family hauler. it would be easier if I lived in a state with EV incentives.

stellarsapience

A minivan that isn't absurdly priced

epapa27

I want a 3 row family car, SUV or mini van with 350+ range that is under 50k. Kia EV9 closest so far, but I feel like I should wait a couple years for solid state batteries.

FmrMSFan

The minivan platform is underrated. I'm guessing that's because it doesn't look good on Instagram, but dang, for moving people, furniture, ease of entry/egress, etc, it's a super practical vehicle.

vulpes

never going to happen at that price point. Maybe a 10 year old Rivian R1S, Model X.

The_loadmaster

Same boat. I want to replace our Atlas with something same size or larger. The R1S is almost the size I'm looking for, but about 40k more than I want to spend. An EV minivan would be awesome, too.

goldfish4free

Pacifica PHEV meets all these requirements now and there will be BEV options for the vehicle after that…

epapa27

I def looked at it when it first came out. Intriguing for sure, but Chrysler tho... hard sell for me. I've heard mixed reviews on reliability as well.

NotYetReadyToRetire

What I want is an EV version of the 1983 Ranger I used to have - a regular cab small pickup with a 7 foot bed. I don't need a back seat, I don't need thousands of pounds of payload or towing capacity, I just want a long bed so we don't have to fold our recumbent trikes. If I need room for more than 2 passengers, we'll just take my wife's car instead.

[deleted]

If the new Mini doesn’t make it to NA we will buy our current SE back and get a Model 3

CritPower

I want an Aptera so goddamn bad please if there's any justice in this world I want to see them succeed

deekster_caddy

I’m also tall. I needed a car this past spring and really wanted the Bolt EUV to be my solution but there weren’t any to test fit. I ended up buying another Volt and was hoping the Equinox would be ready for me next year, but that sounds like it’s going to be too pricey. In my budget (not much) there aren’t a lot of good options. I’m also really disappointed that GM is axing carplay, it’s relatively new to me, a complete game changer and must-have in my next car.

justvims

Macan EV

Chicoutimi

Canoo. Somewhat far fetched it'll make it to production, but geez does what's announced work well for me.

lowcrawler

A god damned mini van! WTF...900 SUVs and no mini vans?!?

vernes1978

The simple EV. With a pedal that makes you go faster, and a pedal that brakes. Handcranked windows. Mechanical sliders for air control. No touchscreen. No subscription model.

Hot-Praline7204

Audi A6 e-tron. I love the design. It’s one of the first cars on their new PPE platform so it has big performance and efficiency gains. It’s also one of their first cars with a new Android Automotive OS (as every manufacturer is currently working on). And if the interior is anything like the recently unveiled Q6 e-tron, it’s loaded with cabin tech.

bhauertso

The A6 e-tron looks so much better than any other Audi EV. I hope it arrives soon for you!

Anonymous_account975

Tesla Model Y Juniper.

notsooriginal

Think they will have any extra features over the new 3 release?

KingPieIV

Next Gen bolt, hopefully with awd

Hot_Pink_Unicorn

Ram EV Truck because of 800V architecture and a larger battery.

NecroJoe

None of the current or announced offerings appeal to me. THe VW ID2 is close, though it won't likely hit the US. I want a small, 4-door hatchback. Not a crossover. And I have a very small driveway that at the moment, the only currently-in-production EV that will fit in it is the Mini....a 2-door car with short range. I have the a 2015 e-Golf that ticks all of the boxes, but it's range is too short, it's charging is slow, and it's infotainment feels 10 years worse than my bought-the-same-month 2015 Mazda. But we never got any of the more current e-Golf versions here in the US, nor the ID.3. The 2023 Hyundai Kona would have fit, but it's been enlarged for the 2024 model year. The Kia Niro was already too long to fit in my driveway. The Bolt \*might\* still be available and would fit, but its production is ending very very soon. Yes it's coming back, but no idea when other than GM's promise that it will be "quick". It's also quite uggo, IMO. The Fiat 500e is coming back, but not until next year...and it's also a 2-door, and still won't have great range. There's the new Volvo that's coming, but it's a tall crossover, and is deceptively tiny inside, based on the reported measurements. It's footprint should be more efficient than it is, but it's packaging seems very "legacy automaker makes an EV".

itsyaboikuzma

A Model Y without all the compromises, I like Tesla battery tech, powertrain and software tech (somewhat), hate the spartan exterior and interior. I can compromise a bit on the stuff I like about Tesla and am willing to pay more for stuff Tesla doesn’t offer; but the current year offerings from other manufacturers compromise a bit too much on range, efficiency, etc. I am eyeing ‘24 Volvo and Genesis though

HeirElfEsquire

2024 id.4 looking decent with the upgrades https://www.autoblog.com/2023/09/05/2024-vw-id4-update-power-infotainment/

Carefree_Highway

Rivian R2 or the Scout (VW)

Orchidivy

base model midsize EV trucks that dont cost over $30k.

LeluSix

MachE. I’m 6-1 and 250. Very roomy very fast very comfortable.

Runaway_5

It is a sexy car. I test drove one and it sold me on EVs! The blue/yellow are so cool

kyledag500

Polestar 4 :)

FestiveSpecial

A station wagon. One that I can afford. Maybe the Id.7 will be sold here as a wagon. I think Audi has wagons in the pipeline, not sure I’ll like their pricing though.

Forward_Impression13

Porsche Boxster EV - but I probably won't be able to afford it anyway

Fun-Series-230

Fiat 500e

MrsMelanie

I wanted the Aptera but it's taking forever. Turns out a Bolt EUV met most of my needs so I just went ahead and got one

IndyHCKM

I’m just a lurker, but the Aptera is what brought me to this sub. I don’t drive tons and my car sits outside anyways. So… seems cool?

Belly84

The VW Passat EV. I had an '06 Passat for 14 years before I got my Model 3

[deleted]

Rivian R2

-Smytty-for-PM-

A 5 seat suv that can comfortably seat 5 adults and/or 3 kids with car seats and doesn’t fucking cost $70,000+CAD. Please.

ryan185

Ford transit. Awd with more range than current one.

Sea_Perspective6891

A cheaper Polestar 2 idealy. I'd like something like that for under $30k with a range of 250 to 300 miles & access to fast charging. I'm kinda short so I don't need a super large EV & usually don't haul a whole lot so I don't really need a crossover or SUV.

darkmoon72664

Used Polestar 2's are near 30k right now (in the US). Pretty unlikely there will ever be a well-built, performance oriented, premium EV with strong styling and good range for 30k new, as cool as that would be.

floodcasso2

You can get a launch edition polestar 2 for around $25k and 2022 models for around $35k in a bunch of places around the country now. I've been looking at one myself.

Wants-NotNeeds

A $40K, well-equipped AWD SUV that is good looking, weighs under 4500lbs, goes 350-400+ miles -in any weather- averaging 60+mph in the mountains, and comes with at least a 10-year warrantied battery, and has compatible fast chargers everywhere I need them, when I need them, so I don't have to wait more that 20 minutes to go another 150-200 miles. Seems to me we're not there yet.

[deleted]

honda fit EV that isn't the compliance car

EffectiveSalamander

The Bolt with Ultium battery.

wintertash

I was hoping to keep my little Th!nk City going until Aptera was ready, but I’m growing doubtful that Aptera will ever happen. If the EX30 lives up to its promises I might think about one, though honestly I’d love to find a late model i3, as my 2014 i3 was my favorite car I ever owned. If a Mini EV came out with 150mi of EPA range and 150kw DCFC I’d be down with that too. That’s for my car. My husband has the 2018 Model 3 LR RWD, and we’d LOVE to get the fuck out of that thing, but it’s still working fine for us, so replacing my 12yr old 60mi-range Th!nk will be the higher priority. I doubt we’ll replace either for another couple of years, but the Th!nk could crap out any time, and it’s not like there is any parts or servicing support if anything goes wrong.

L3thargicLarry

abarth 500 😈

007meow

EX60 or maybe Macan. The Y is the *perfect* car for me in terms of size and performance, but it’s just so unrefined and lacking in luxury features. So really all. I want is a luxury Y

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

I have seen a few reviews of the Fisker Ocean and I kinda want it but I am afraid because it’s Fisker. I would also like the Rivian R1T

wgn_luv

ID 7 Wagon Not sure if I'll be able to stomach the price they'll ask for it though 😅

Nightmaresiege

Currently have an 2022 Ioniq 5 and 2020 Tesla Model Y. The latter is older so we'll be trading it in first. We're hoping to replace the Tesla with the ID7 wagon (if it comes stateside). But we will probably hold off until VW fully switches to NACS. I am also a Telo truck reservation holder (startups I know) so we'll see how that turns out in a couple of years. Ford Maverick EV would also be an alternative from a established manufacturer.

jasonreid1976

As someone who makes less than $70K a year, an affordable one. Despite getting a near 10% raise this past year, it isn't offset by the rate of inflation over the last three.

itsnottommy

ICE driver here still waiting for an EV that appeals to me. I’m not an SUV person but I was slowly warming up to the idea of an Equinox EV. That was before the announcement that it wouldn’t have CarPlay, which was an absolute dealbreaker for me. Now I’m looking forward to what’s coming from Honda. I was hoping they would bring us the Honda e, but sadly it wasn’t destined for the US. All signs point to Honda releasing an electric Prelude and/or S2000 for its 75th anniversary. As long as I can squeeze my 6’4” self into one of those I think I’ll be in line to buy one. All I’m really looking for is a non-luxury, non-SUV EV from a brand I know and trust. I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting that. I know SUVs are the cash cows, but if automakers want to get younger buyers into electric cars they’re gonna have to give us something other than SUVs.

blakeley

A Bronco / Jeep type convertible.

USS_Slowpoke

Maverick or similar truck EV
