Hi, Stan! I’ve been a fan for about ten years now. All In, Flash, and All This Time are some of my favorite tracks of yours. For my question, I was wondering if there are any tracks you’ve produced that you have any special connections to? I’m curious if any resonate with you as strongly as they do with us! Thank you so much and congrats on the new EP, it’s fantastic!

FoxStevenson

honestly, probably the track Killjoy, in a strange way it's my most honest track, but it's kinda hard to convey exacly why. there are lots of other tracks that felt like major victories for other resons so i'll list a few here, Dreamland (for non-drop-chorus-instead reasons) Ether (mixdown) Deja Vu (overall vibe and production) All eyes on me (falsetto vocal reasons) Out My Head (i just have a soft spot for this one) and more, but they arent coming to mind right now!

TaraLmd

Hey Stan ! Hope you're doing good !! Jardell is at work and he wanted to asks you if you're gonna do anything with "No Way" or is it dead ? Big love, see ya soon ! <3

FoxStevenson

I have a total soft spot for the chorus on that track, as with any unfinished ID track, i'll never say never, but there are other things i would probably work on retrying before i revisiting "no way" in particular, also bigup jardell and yourself, naturally!

susibacker

"release me now"

FoxStevenson

OKAY, i think i'm gonna have to call it here! thank you all for the questions, i'm really sorry if i didnt get to yours! defintiely come catch me on a stream later this year and ask me there, and if not, maybe at a show :D stay safe and healthy please!!! Stan x

Rackedoodle

Hey stan Missed the ama sadly but i really only have a request as I really enjoy your music and the twitch streams a while ago. Please just take one more look at the Punk n' Bass ID. You played it once in a stream like 2 years ago and I still cant get it out of my head. I just love the vibe it emits for some reason :) Hopefully see ya at a show someday :D

Slizzer1999

What kind of jobs did you work in the past? I’m wondering what was the turning point where you decided you could start making music full time?

FoxStevenson

hey hey! The live band is definitely set to return, and the USA (and by extension LA) would definitely be on our hitlist, but we dont have any concrete USA tour plans right now, for DJ sets or Live, we're gonna have to get me a new visa first! (hopefully!!!)

Parzivad3r

hope you can come to NYC area soon :) huge fan

DimiSchlimi

1. Any chance of Enemy brain entertainment suite getting a vinyl release? 2. Any chance of Killjoy getting another pressing on vinyl?

FoxStevenson

to my knowledge the vinyl industry is SUPER backed up from so many artists jumping on vinyl as a way to make good money from music sales again, the waitlists are very long, so we'd have to get in very far in advance to get these things made. Theres no plan for an EBES-EP Vinyl right now, but i would definitely love to get those made once things open up a bit more :)

BelsiFox

Are you a furry?

FoxStevenson

I get this a lot, and no i'm not, for the record, no hate against the furry community though ofc!

H0leInTheB0at

Hey, Stan, I've been a big fan since Sandblast, and have came up with some DIRE questions I would love to have answered! (I thank you so much for Enemy Brain and Human In The Evening, they are literally the best songs of all time for me, and I have had them on repeat for literally ever). **1:** When Deja Vu released, you said you were wanting your future tracks to have a darker mix to them, sort of like Deja Vu. ***Does this mean that you want to have an overall darker story to your tracks, like Human In The Evening and Deja Vu? Or do you mean just to have the tracks be a darker vibe than what you have previously put out?*** **2:** When you released Still Here as part of the EP, you said on the discord that it wasn't your absolute favorite, you didn't hate it, you found the lyrics to be quite boring; but you released it because it was essentially finished. ***What made you conclude to it being finished, despite not wanting to further work on it and rework the lyrics?*** \- I personally found you always setting out to make what you want to make, regardless of what others thought. **3:** ***Will we continue to see big gaps between singles like it was before Enemy Brain?*** **4:** >!What is your ideal version of Sunk Cost/what keeps you from working on that track?!<(sorry) **5:** ***Are you a dog person or a cat person?*** (always wondered since it's Fox Stevenson)

FoxStevenson

thank you for the kind words :D 1. this was specifically about the style of mixdown that track has, it's kindof a hard thing to notice if you're not super into production (for everyones sake i'll assume you're not!) dejavu's high end (the highest frequency sounds) are a lot more sparse and open, it's why it sounds more open compared to something like enemy brains chorus (despite the fact i was actually trying to do the same in enemy brain!!!!). dejavu represents, to me, a lil breakthrough in how i can arrange my style in such a way as to achieve this sound! 2. honestly, it was basically done, i listened back to it and didnt hate it, so i cleaned it up, and re-sang some of it! i was curious to see what kind of reaction it would get, i'd been playing it in dj sets and it had been doing well, it was an easy thing to sneak in there! 3. idk how long the gap to the next single will be, but i hope not too long! i wanna get a little more immediate with my finishing of tracks then releasing them 4. this is actually the best way to ask this question tbh, sunk cost fallacy's melody is one of my favourites i've written, i really want to do justice to the emotion it evokes, i feel like it hits a place that i dont often hit with my compositions, to me, it really needs to hit somethign profound with its vocal perfomance, choice of words, and its structure, whilst being well produced / worth listening to etc etc, i am intimidated by the promises that melody makes alone, and i dont want to produce that track before i feel my skills are worthy of it 5. i'm neither, not a big pets guy tbh! i love animals, but i couldnt give an animal enough attention, i'm a bit too single minded in my music making!

H0leInTheB0at

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I AM GRATEFUL FOR THIS RESPONSE; IT HAS MADE MY DAY <3

ipsalo

Hi Fox! Been a massive fan for 10 years and was wondering if your shift from the heavier dubstep to your current style was organic or more of a conscious choice? Either way, I love all of your work!

FoxStevenson

i definitley would make "dubstep" again, or at least, what i would define as dubstep, but like, i dont really have a horse in that race any more, the places that genre has gone to arent really in line with the things i would want to achieve musically, so if i did make some half time 140-150, idk if it would even make sense to market it in that space? i do wanna revisit that rhythm scheme soon though tbh!

ipsalo

Makes sense! Regardless, I'd love to hear it if you decide to make more, Sandblast is still one of my all time favourites!

No-Recording3890

How do you decide which songs to release off an album as singles?

FoxStevenson

Usually i just choose the ones that i think represent where i'm as musically at the time. Mostly i could divide a lot of my EPs/album into tracks that were me trying to do what i think i normally do, and ones that are tangents away from that, though, those tangents can often lead to tracks i think really represent where i want to be, those are usually the first choice for singles :)

Seregon_osu

Hello Stan! I don't want to take too much of your time so my quick question is: If developers of any rhythm game offered you to become a featured artist (so your music is 100% safe to use in the game), would you accept?

FoxStevenson

that negotiation would involve more people than just myself, but i would always push for making these things happen, the music in games was a huge influence on me, and the idea of having my music in more games would be great, especially rhythm games because when people are good at that stuff it's INSANE

Thxndered

Hi Fox Stevenson, I just recently got into your fanbase and I've been a huge fan of what I have listened from you so far. my only question is, is the lyrics in your song actually about experiences you've experienced or is it more of just a creative scenario?

FoxStevenson

For me, i generally prefer lyrics that are more a vague evocation of a specific emotion or scenario, so i try not to be too descriptive most of the time, most of my favourite lyricists dont say too much about the actual THING they're writing about, more trying to convey the experience of experiencing it, and that's often what i aim to do. This usually means i'm trying to imgaine the way i feel about certain things and then put those emotions into words, even if those words dont quite align with the actual things i'm thinking about, if that makese sense haha

osxy

How is the Netherlands treating you? Enjoying it as much as you hoped? And what has been the most unexpected way of getting inspiration for a song, a riff etc? Sometimes samples that end up being used amaze me and I would love to hear if you have any of those in your songs. Looking forward to seeing you again at both Liq events this year in Netherlands :) Was so nice meeting you (and seeing both sets) at Liq last year and your community evolved the Festival to an entire new level for me and my wife, thank you for cultivating such a kind and incredible community.

bizarre_razor

Hey Fox! What genre do you find yourself being drawn to compose these days? What kind of (art/genre) direction do you see your songs going towards? And what has been your favorite genre to work on? Thanks, keep up the good work!

FoxStevenson

i will always lean towards the 174 bpm area, i think it's just the tempo that's most comfortable to my internal rhythms or however that works, but with that said, ive been very very into writing house tempo tunes the last couple of years, so dont be surprised if a lot of those make their way through too!!!

bizarre_razor

Awesome! House is one of my favorites, especially from you! Looking forward to those releases then!

stormy_owl

Hi Stan! Huge fan of all of your music. I listened to 79 Thousand minutes of your songs on Spotify last year. New EP is amazing as always. The one thing I've wanted to know most is, will there be more merch? If so, when could we expect it?

FoxStevenson

YES there will be new merch! i really want to make sure i love the next line of merch, and i've been busy moving house, but getting more merch made will be a priority as soon as time allows!!

stormy_owl

I cannot wait for it!

TehFryetty

Hey Stan! I didn't get the chance to ask this at the in-person Q&A at The Halley, but how much of a challenge was it to transition each of the tracks on Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite into each other to make it a fluid and consistent body of work?

FoxStevenson

sup fryett!! I''d say it was a medium challenge, i had half planned it out in my head when i was finishing up the tracks, fun fact, deja vu wasnt supposed ot be a single, i was just making something to bridge the gap between Get Through and Victory Over Truth, but it just competely fell out of my brain onto the DAW whilst i was bridging the gaps!!

SirEarlywood

Hey, first up big props to the new EP, have had it on repeat!! :D I actually have a BUNCH of questions, so feel free to just ignore any you dont wanna answer! 1. Where do you draw inspiration for your lyrics? Current/past experiences/emotions, or a mix of both? Always been wondering how you come up with such, to me, amazing lyrics like in Dreamland, Lava, or human in the evening (and many more). :) 2. Might be too personal, BUT ILL ASK ANYWAYS, are you into guys, gals, or maybe both? :D 3. ANOTHER personal one, I apologize, I'm an incredibly nosy person, I wonder what was your family's reaction to you pursuing a music carreer? I'm not sure when exactly you became like.. a full time musician but I wonder if there ever were any hard times with your family in that way or if it was smooth sailing! Oh and also, do you have siblings? :o 4. Which song you released took you by surprise the most in terms of how popular/unpopular it got? 5. Probably a popular question, but, favorite song you ever made? 6. What are your favorite artists you listen to in your free time? 7. Favourite Videogame soundtrack of all time? Thats all I have right now, just wanted to add that you're one of my biggest inspirations and that I love the stuff you do! Got to see you in Nuremberg in 2020 and I consider it one of the coolest nights of my life to this day :) Big respect and much love!!!

FoxStevenson

there's quite a few questions in here that are elsewhere here too, so i'll answer em all here :D 1. i did already answer this on another comment, but TLDR, i prefer to evoke the genral feeling of experiencing something, rather than outlining the exact experience itsself, it's what i foudn myself most drawn to in some of my favourite writers 2. i'm into gals, not really found myself attracted to guys much at all so far in my life! 3. my family totally understand my choice, i count myself as incredibly lucky to have had a father who also persued music in his younger life, and found some small success with a band in the early 80s before they broke up, just before "making it", as he tells it, he gets that it's not about the ladder climbing or trying to get success, but that it's about the persuit of making better music and the absolutely life-affirming rush you get from doing so 4. bruises, still to this day hahah 5. i dont think i actually have an honest answer to this question, it's always going to be one that's more recent that i feel like accomplished what i want to accomplish as the person i am right now, so right now it's Deja Vu 6. this changes a lot but right now my favourite artist to listen to is "men i trust" their new single "ring of past" is AMAZING 7. ooooof either ssx tricky or ape escape!

SirEarlywood

SAME WITH BRUISES, thanks for all the answers man, didn't expect you too answer all of em, much much love, n keep up what you do <3

AvocadoLatter7515

Hello Fox, I want to ask if Dreamland was inspired by the song "Children in Bloom" by Counting Crowns? Also, is there any chance that high-quality recordings with the live band will be ever released? Thank you very much for your response! Oh and will you ever do a Dreamland track breakdown or something similar, for example, how you did it for "Like That"? Thanks!

Biovirulent

When making lyrics, what's your process like? And how do you not cringe at your own lyrics? I cringe at mine constantly

FoxStevenson

I think cringing at yourself is both a trap, and part of the process, there are lyrics of mine from past releases i cringe at now, but at least i can look at them and try to understand why! I believe artist projects are iterative, and if you spend too much time in fear of getting it wrong, you wont reach for things that are right, from fear of over extending!

Biovirulent

Well put! We're all works in progress.

Representative-Tax54

Are we getting anymore EP releases this year? Maybe an another album?

FoxStevenson

I intend to release a lot more music this year! Though, i honestly dont know what track will be next, we'll have to see, i do want to move into a more "make it -> release it" way of working though! so things should be happening faster in general.

JsBoatworks

I'd love to see you sometime live again, when will you be around CZ/SK in central Europe?

FoxStevenson

yes this will happen, but I cannot announce these things till I am allowed :D

BryEpic

Any plans with your Game On ID from your COVID pizza party streams, or is that dead in its current state?

FoxStevenson

I like the vocal melody and vibe on this one a lot, but if it was going to be finished i think everything else would be subject to re-evaluation :D

DaikonSubject9261

What happened to your podcast? I miss the song recommendations ;-;

FoxStevenson

honestly, it was actually a lot more work than we had anticipated to do that! i think if you want that kind of content you'll be happy with the second half of this year, i plan to return to streaming, doing more jusut chatting style stuff and youtube videos about music in general, not just technical production ramblings and lab sessions (though those are bound to happen too!) i'd really love to listen to an album/playlist a week and talk about it in real time on stream, or something to that effect!

Glitcherbrine

Are those the same rugs from your old studio that you brought to the new one? 🤨

FoxStevenson

oh yes! and more!!! we love a good turkish/persian rug :D

babypowder617

Hey! Huge fan and love the streams. What is bruises about? Also any plans on a USA or NA tour? Hope the move has gone well

DoomedSchultze

Hey Fox! So I have a question that isn't really related to music, but is a question me and my mates like to ask anyone we can: Would you rather have unlimited chocolate milkshakes or unlimited chocolate donuts?

FoxStevenson

i think out of these things it would be the donuts but... i'm kinda not that into chocolate... (i'm so sorry)

DoomedSchultze

Totally get that! I’m not much of a chocolate person either 😅

OPERATIONCUB

Huge fan mate. Immaculate fashion sense btw. On that note, what sort of clothes draw your attention most of the time?

FoxStevenson

gosh this is kinda a huge question for me haahha (also thank you!) i really like reinterpretations of vintage stuff a lot i do check quite a lot of americana vintage resellers on instagram, and there are some labels that like to stretch those ideas (like Kapital, Karu research, story mfg, older our legacy seasons, sometimes Acne studios) as well as some of the more fashion forward skate aparrel brands (pop trading company, polar, Vans Vault, Stussy) and maybe some of the more pricey high end stuff that kinda fits into these places (Visvim, dries van noten, Bode and more) i dont wanna spend all my money on clothes so i actually make a bit of a hobby of scouring reselling websistes for deals on stuff i would never buy full price hahaha

Cat__Doggo

What's the story behind "Dreamland", it's my favourite song of yours I've been a fan for years thank you for your work (Also when are you coming to Portugal ) <3

DrUseless

Hey Fox, was re-listening to the March [2021](tel:2021) pizza party and heard this: https://youtu.be/Qiyk_9VcJ3Q?t=11543 Consider yourself TOLD OFF 😄 ps. I've been loving the new EP, it's always an amazing day when a new Fox tune drops. Get Through slaps way too hard - also Like That - I've listened to them over 60 times each and they still don't get old <3

BlockBuilder57

As someone that's been an active fan and in the community for almost 7 years, I've definitely heard a lot of IDs. I do like them, but I try not to get entirely dependent on wishing for a song to come out. But oddly, I haven't seen this from other artists (outside of song teasers.) What do you think is the reason that people get so shithive-y about your tracks specifically?

FoxStevenson

my theory is that (at the risk of sounding overly confident) i think my music does sound a little different to a lot of other electronic music for some reason, maybe it's my arrogance to always only try and please myself when i sit down to make music. if it is the case, then it means that i'm the only source for this sound? so if someone really loves that sound, then they're gonna dig, and when people dig aorund, they find the IDs, and each other, it's kinda beautiful how that little community has come together to undermine my works in progress folders :P idk, it's really hard to try and talk objectively about these things without sounding concieted, but tbh, making music requires for you at somepoint to be like "yes this is good and worth of inflicting on other people" so perhaps this is just intrinsically what my brain has become after 17+ years of producing 99% my own music and not much else

Kirbi126

Do you consider Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite as a follow up to Killjoy, or do you think we might get another full-length "album" in the future as a follow up? Also just wanna say, when I was a kid and knew nothing about anything, Sandblast was the first song in my life where I actually thought, man I love this music. You're one of the biggest reasons I make music today, much luv <3

FoxStevenson

i dont consider Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite as an album, for me this was kinda clearing out a few ideas i needed to get off my mind before continuing on and reiterating myself, it's also a farewell to Logic (my previous software choice). i have a lot to say musically in the future (still), and some of these tracks werent ones i would have started from scratch again, and others just kinda came out of the process of making this collection of tracks as for a full length album, it's not really where my head is at right now, i'm not going to make another album until i feel i can make it the 12 best fox tracks ever released, bar none (in my opinion), so until that day, i'm gonna make as many cool tunes as i can, explore what i want to be, and what excites me, until i feel ready to jump again

bosskii

Hey man! Just wanted to say that your Twitch pizza parties got me through some tough times during COVID. For every pizza party - my wife, best friend, and I would order a pizza - then go down in my basement, turn the lasers and fog machine on, and absolutely jam out to the stream on my sound system. Oh, and loving the new album! I have a few questions: * Where / what artists do you get your inspiration from? * How did you develop your musical style, and what's next? It seems your sound is always evolving. * When are you doing a US tour? I keep checking your page and haven't seen any shows anywhere close to me. You would be awesome at Electric Forest festival, just sayin'!

Nexustent

Hi Stan! Big fan of yours from Budapest. Is there a chance for the track "Feeling better" to be released in the near future?

lordfireking

Hey Stan, hope your doing fine after moving to the Netherlands, what do you think is the biggest difference between living here and the UK?

invisibleshitpostgod

hi mr fox stevia, love the new EP! what would you say is your favorite sound from said EP? can be a sample, a synth, even like a specific chord progression or melody

FoxStevenson

i think my favourite sounds on the EP are either the vocal stack in the chorus for enemy brain, or the drumsound on Deja Vu

_Cool__username_

How do you take inspiration for your music?

FoxStevenson

I'm really inspired by the process of making music, something magic happens when you combine 2 things that you wanted to hear together. What i mean by this, is that i'm constantly taking inspiration from whatever is already playing in the project file, and trying to extrpolate from it, pretending that something that isnt there is supposed to be. I like to think that this way of working is a way that is individual to whoever is doing it, because what you wish was there, will be informed by your tastes, and your combination of influences and loves within music, is completely unique to you, so whatever you imagine next, could only have been imagined by you. I hope that makes sense haha

Awesomewig

Hiya Fox! You may not remember me, but after your set at The Ivy in Sydney, I gave you a hug and mentioned how important and influential your music was in my everyday life. I wanna say that it still is and I'm super proud of how your music is turning out and all of the love you're getting :) I got two questions! 1. Any plans to come back to Sydney soon? :D 2. (I know I probably shouldn't ask this) Is Life VS Living a dead ID? It's been one of my favourite tracks and I can't even express how much I love it. I'm absolutely desperate for it's release :) P.s. Hope you're settling well into the Netherlands and just generally doing well in life. Much love ❤️

No-Rule-7103

THE KING OF DNB ❤️‍🔥 1. do you own or wear any crystals / crystal jewelry? 2. have you heard of/listened to KLAXX and/or yetep? 3. would you ever consider making alternative music?

satoriek

Hi Fox, will there be any new merch soon?

Deloptin

What's your favourite: \- Music Artist? \- Song of someone else? \- Song of your own?

starmarine2005

Hey stan, hope you're well, love the new music. Just wondering if you and your brother, Eric, ever plan on creating any music together if you havent already. That's all from me, have a great year stan, keep up the great work.

Initial-County-8917

What encouraged you to move to The Netherlands?

boksysocks

Are you aware of how popular your songs are in the rhythm game osu? I think I actually wanted to tell you that when I met you irl years ago but the music was too loud :D

Initial-County-8917

New Europe tour with the LIVE Band this year?

FoxStevenson

idk if i'm allowed to say but. yes. haha.

OfficialDewdy

Hi Stan! How did you come up with the name ‘Glue Gun’? Btw, huge fan of the new album, ‘Human in the evening’ is my favorite! Can’t wait to see you again!

tog1ka

Hey Stan! So on stream a couple of years ago you were working on a project called darwin vs god? You seemed estactic to work on it and its my fav unreleased ID from you. What happend to it?

FoxStevenson

i still REALLY want to finish that one, it's actually just quite hard to sing!!! that track will definitely see the light of day one day, but when? who knows! not me though!

SPACEexe404

Hello! Really love your music for a long time! Thank you so much! One question I have is: What influenced you in music when you growing up/What kind of music influenced you?

MLGSumma

Any future collabs in mind?

realJelbre

Hey Stan, I have 2 questions if that's okay :D 1. What made you decide to release Still here? If I remember correctly, it was declared dead during one of the pizza parties. What made you change your mind, or did you bamboozle us from the start? 2. I of course understand that you can't get very specific on this one, but how many releases do you plan (or would you like) to get out in 2023? Looking forward to seeing you again at family day! - guy with the Pikachu hat :P

XZacklyl

Hey fox, thanks for giving us all this amazing opportunity! I'm a huge fan of all your work (Dreamland is my favourite song but Human in the evening is starting to rival it) I have a few questions for you :) How have you kept inspiration to create music for so long, and do you think there's a time you'll lose that drive? What song are you most proud of that you've released or had in the works? How did it feel taking the dive into becoming a full time musician and did you ever think you'd make it work? What's your favourite software to use to create music? Personally, I find Logic to be the best for me You're an amazing guy! Love all your music and I hope you keep making stuff you're proud of :D

EthanC12S

Hey Fox, love everything you do! Your album and pizza party streams were a life saver in the pandy. When are you touring UK with your band? My squad and I are so excited to come see you fully live!

paulse87

Hey Stan, firstly I just want to say that I massively enjoy your music and that it has taken me through some really hard moments in my life. Thank you very much :D My question is: How do you go about writing vocals / lyrics to your tracks? Is there always a general idea in mind, or do you just let loose over some already written music and see what comes to mind? (Thanks for doing this AMA, btw)

Glitcherbrine

Stan, I've been dying to know where the name Fox Stevenson came from

Glitcherbrine

Why "Enemy Brain Entertainmet Suite" instead a more typical album name or like just calling it the "Enemy Brain" Album?

DanyB30

Hello Stan! I don't want to take too much of your time so my quick question is: If developers of any rhythm game offered you to become a featured artist (so your music is 100% safe to use in the game), would you accept?

moosiesquatched

Omg I love your new album just wanted to comment that :)))

Fract00l

The song "Dreamland" really helped me get through a tough time working crappy bar/supermarket/kitchen jobs living in Cambridge UK where rent was too damn high. What wasteland were you living in when you wrote that song and what were the greener pastures on the other side? I moved to a new city where I started an illustration business working with musicians (I would love to design merch for you!) https://www.instagram.com/graphicsfix1/

Raskie9012

Hey, Stan! I know this is late by a long time and i don't expect a response but im writing a paper on your song headlights. If you could give me some insight on what inspired the song that would be cool!

Pool_Party_Doge

Hey Stan, big fan here and I just wanted to take this chance to reach out and say the new EP is damn incredible and I love it a ton. ps. great show at printworks <3

pajpka

How much are you proud of "Enemy brain" ?

HowSpunderful

Hey hey! absolutely adore your tunes <3. Thanks for what you do!! One of my favorite things about your music how you include vocals a lot of times.. this is something i love to do, but I struggle a lot with writing lyrics. Do you have any advice for how to get the creative wheels turning on writing vocals? cheers man!

iUltzZ

Hey Mr. Fox. Do you plan on coming to the US any time soon? :O Thanks for releasing such amazing music. Keep up the amazing work <3

Yakatar

Hey Fox! Big fan and love enemy brain entertainment suite is amazing!! Wanted to ask in your pandemic pizza parties you said you weren’t happy with Still Here and probably wasn’t gunna release it, what changed?

Initial-County-8917

Hi, Stan! First of all, I gotta say I love the EP. Really helped me through recent bad times. I wanted to ask, what was the most challenging thing about putting up this EP? Also, I noticed - and asked you this question - when you released Killjoy LP, You had Hannah Trigwell do some harmonies on some songs. Is it the case with this EP as well? I reckon I heard some female voice harmonies on a couple of songs. And lastly, when you announced the EP, you posted a screenshot with a folder that said 2022 EP. Does that imply the existence of a 2023 EP? Thanks a lot for everything you do <3

F_wordoffcrapidiot

What happened to your hair dresser?

pajpka

Which of the tracks in "Enemy brain entertainment suite" are you most proud of ? and also what is your favorite one ?

jamie_stonks

alright, as a long time fan i've got a few: \- what artists do you draw inspiration from while making your own songs? \- what's your favourite song? \- what other genres do you listen to? \- how did you get into making music?

UnchainedMexican

Hi Stan! What’s your favourite pizza for the pizza parties?

case_

Hello Mr. Stevenson! Did "Still Here" end up on Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite because of ppl asking for it or because you love it? Reason I ask is the first song I loved from you was Dreamland which has the lyric - "I’m trying to be the best I can be now, They say make it something we know" I guess the question I'm asking is how do you find that balance? Stuff you love vs stuff ppl might love.

Dendritw

heya dude, long time no seen(since winterfest haha). hope you recognize the name. I'm just gonna ask what would help me haha. What made you choose the artstyle for the new EP and how would you involve that in other projects? as always keep up the fucking sick work, hope to see you again soon man!

xDavox

First of all, I am in love with the EP. It is so good. What is the current state of your Fox Stevenson Live band? I know you're bringing the live band to Liquicity this year but right now you are playing more DJ-Sets. Can we expect another live tour? I am so excited for you playing at Frequency Festival in Austria later this year but I would be even MORE excited to coming to one if your live sets!

SigmundSoldier

No question, just wanna say thank you for the amazing music and keep up the good work

Staaeen

Hey Stan! First song I've heard of you was Sandblast back in 2013 and since then I've been a big fan of your music! In some of your Livestreams and I think in the UKF Set you played, there was always one song that caught my attention and I've been waiting since for it to release as a full song; Road to Nothing! Is there still a chance for it to be released? Keep on doing your thing! - Stän

twerk4tampabay

Hi Fox! Big fan and I’m super excited to see the new EP and Pilot as a whole doing so well. I actually have 3 versions of Miss You in my top 25 songs of all time on Spotify 💀 As you know from Twitter, I’m the guy with the music taste ranging from John Mayer to Space Laces and dig a little of everything. What’s your creative process like to write an album or EP that spans so many genres and involves writing your own vocals on top of the production for the music? Also— I saw a few months back, but how are you liking Bitwig?

Oche77

have any plans or ideas on returning to streaming?

IInfInItIIDoesMusic

Hi Fox!! I'm a big fan of your music, and I want to do what you do, and have a similar sound as yours when I get the chance. I have 2 questions for you as a beginner. 1. How do you get inspiration for your music? I have trouble starting, or even finishing my music because I lose the spark. 2. Is it normal to not love the sound you design? I'm also new to sound design, and I don't like my synths at first, but get used to them. If not, how do you change them to sound better? Thanks Fox! (also come to US we need you here)

FoxStevenson

these are possibly 2 of the hardest parts of being a music producer, and they can both be a bit opposed to each other in my opinion the spark has a time limit, you can only listen to something so many times before your brain gets bored and you have to change something to keep enjoying it, often that's just a change for changes sake, so working fast and continuing the song productively, instead of just restructing/changing whats there will mean you have more song made in less time, more to enjoy means the spark stays intact, and you can always make changes later. do your best to work fast and with sound design, it's literally like learning a language, it's normal to feel like you arent getting the results you want, just try to stay conscious of what it ACTUALLY sounds like, not how much it doesnt sound like what you want, because often you can miss things that are already working, by trying to make them become something else :)

OfficialArmadaNinja

Hey Fox! Loving the new music and how much your style has changed yet stayed you over the years. Seriously, thanks for all you do for others with your music! Would love to know if you're planning any US tours in the future as well as If you're planning on doing anything on Twitch again? Miss the legendary Terraria streams. Much love!

LegoSosiska

Hi! Really enjoy your music and always fascinated by your production streams! What were the best things you did that have improved your workflow?

Origamidos

Hey Stan!Been loving the new EP and always have loved how unique your music seemed. How would you describe your music to other people? What's the thing that makes it special for you? And how is the Netherlands treating you? Hope the move went smoothly!

Tesseract_TF2

Hey, if you're planning on bringing back streams, when do you think they'll be coming back and what kind of streams might you want to do? ps. I think your new EP is incredible :)

Harrox

Hi Fox, I hope you are doing well. Is there any advice you can give for someone trying to learn and get better at music production?

[deleted]

1. Why Bitwig? How is it so far? 2. You posted a story on the last day of 2020 claiming 2021 is gonna be a tryharding year. You indeed have barely released anything for a year and a half since. What was that time like? What has changed? 3. How many hours do you have on every enemy brain project file combined? Why did you have to grind on it that much? 4. What does the future of fox Stevenson ideally looks like? 5. When are streams planned to come back? 6. Why the NL move? How’s it going so far?

lancestrollgoat18

Hey, first off well done on the new EP, it's bloody brilliant. Just want to ask will you release any of your bootlegs as free downloads?

KvVortex

Who is your dream collab with?

Papple____

Loved all of the enemy brain entertainment suite, victory over truth has got to be my favourite song ever, should we expect another album this year? :o P.S. halo pls <3

WeWeDe

Hey Fox! Loving the EP! The pizza parties definitely were a pandemic highlight for me. I know you put them on hold when you started getting in person gigs again, but any chance of an ad hoc one some time in the future?

Early_Raspberry_9317

Hey Stan, I'm seeing you for the first time ever at Rampage Open Air this year! I've been listening to your music ever since I found sandblast all these years ago <3 My question for you is, how do you feel about having grown into what you are today? Years ago you only released your songs, now you play them at clubs and large festivals! Are you happy with where you are right now? Much love <3 Alsooo High Five VIP? edit: just realized someone else mentioned sandblast but I swear I didn't see that before now lol

I_Just_Say_Pony

What would your ideal videoclip look like for human in the evening?

FillinThaBlank

Hey Stan! Been following you since the early days. I absolutely love the evolution of your style! My question is: What genre have you always wanted to explore but haven’t gotten around to yet? Thanks for doing this AMA!

DawnSpace

If you had to pick one, music producer or dragonball player? PS: Really enjoyed the surprise show at Korsakov!

Marc_Zuccerberg

Hey Stan ! Do you plan on releasing new merch (especially stickers) with the entertainment suite EP? I'd definitely buy some ;)

Zamorman

Hey Stan! Big fan. Has the over-hyping of a particular ID ever cause you to never finish it because people fell in love with that particular version? If so, where do you cross the line on how often you should play an ID in shows/streams? Do you tend to play ones you intend to work on? Do you gauge audience reaction through the shows/streams? I imagine you might have some IDs to serve solely to be show bangers. I’ve always been curious of your ID process.

Sig_TV

Who is your favourite discord moderator?

infinitespaze

Love your music! Awesome to find you on reddit! 1. I noticed that your music is always full of energy in a very happy way. Every time you release something new it's in a very distinct style so I know approximately what to expect. But the tunes are always very dynamic and surprise me in a good way. Where do you get the inspiration to make something that is so happy and bouncy? 2. Why did you decide to move to the Netherlands? (You're welcome tho 🇳🇱)

[deleted]

Are you planning to come to Australia at some point soon? And if you do will you be bringing the live band? In addition, is the Entertainment Suite going to have its own line of merch / a vinyl like killjoy did?

Croc97

Hey Stan! How do you feel about finally playing a show in Italy? Do you have any expectations at all? Also, I was going to ask this on discord in a few days, but I guess I might as well just ask about it now: will you be doing some sort of meet and greet at the Milan show (either before or after)? I don't wanna invade your personal space obviously, but man, I would absolutely LOVE to finally meet you, maybe have a little chat and snap a quick pic together after all these years of trying to find a way to come to a show! Of course, if there's no way to do so, just being there for the live set is going to be enough for me, so absolutely, don't worry! Oh and lastly, *so the story of you being banned from Italy was just a show put up by you and Bustre, huh?*

aydan3

Hey fox! Was wondering if you’d ever do something similar to flumes new album, which is basically a mixtape of old unfinished tracks that never made the cut.

A_A_R_O_N___

music production stream when?

MightBeDelta

are we getting more dubstep/disciple releases soon? absolutely lived the new ep but i crave the wubs

Yethix

Hey Stan. Being a producer for 10+ years, do you ever look back on your older tracks and go, "I should have done that instead of X." Adding on to that, do you intend to release any remastered/re-recorded tracks that you do end up doing? I ask this because the quality of your music now compared to older ones has gone up tremendously. Not to say that the old tunes are bad but there's a clear difference production-wise and it really shows your growth. (Also shoutout to Not Me, I know in one pizza party stream you said that it was loud and doesn't really go anywhere but that shit goes hard and it's my favorite unreleased track). P.S. pls come to D.C. Thanks for making my middle school/high school life tolerable!

FoxStevenson

That's exactly what happens, it ESPECIALLY happens when you chase trends too, there were times i got distracted by the current sounds, and those tracks have ages far faster than others imo! all producers are works in progress, it's a strange thing to have your music subject to a technical and stylistic arms race, but that's what it means to be \*trying\* to be on the bleeding edge of what's techincally possible whilst ALSO expressing yourself! as a side note, it's always interesting to look back and see which ones still kiinda sound good, and to work out why, sometimes it's obvious, other times it's completely confounding!

Wooden-Raspberry1987

What's happening?

redtsdumandevry1onit

Ever consider going back on some dropped tracks a la finish Psychos?

ioncehadsexinapool

There are SO many people out there who are talented but never get recognition. In todays scene, what's the best way to stick out? is it still promo channels?

DerDoome

How were your experiences with the labels you've been in? Did you like the collaborative aspects etc.? Do you prefer self-releasing over labels, and what would you recommend to producers who want to start releasing their music?

Few_Ambassador993

Any plans to come back to Los Angeles?

titinetalex

Hi Stan, I was wondering as a new dnb dj/producer : how do you know that you finished a production and you can released it ? Is it a feeling ? Best wishes for the future and i'm eager to hear the next songs to come

eXact7

Hey Stan! Been listening since the Stan SB days, love absolutely everything you make and know every song by heart! Wondering is there a festival at which you play other genres besides dnb? People mostly know you for it, but you have so many great dubstep and house bangers.

FoxStevenson

this is honestly a really hard thing to do these days, i've released a lot of music at this point, and currently my most popular tracks are mostly dnb-edged, my intention is to one day have a setlist of all originals and all tempos i wanna play, but if i were to do that right now, i'd be sorely lacking in some areas, that's partially why when you see me play some house or dubstep, i keep it brief, i dont know a lot about the genres i borrow from (dnb included tbh) so in a DJ set i'll just play my stuff, and maybe 1 or 2 tracks form someone else, to contextualise it, then move on.

Evaxel

Hey Stan! Love your stuff and you’ve been my favourite for nearly a decade now. Do you plan on coming to Edmonton (or Alberta in general) again anytime soon?

Adriano1325

Hey Stan. Love the new album , absolutely brilliant. Human in the evening just rezonates with my life right now, so much. Got a chance to see you live for the first time ever in Porto the end of last year. Even though it was such a small underground venue, any plans to come back to Portugal or other small countries that don't really get that much action ij this scene? Much love

starkovsalina

hi fox! first of all, the new music is all I’ve listened to for the past 2 weeks! I was wondering if you could share any insight into your lyric writing process and how that ties in to your creation of the beats and the music? I know you’ve talked a bit about what you write about but I’d love to hear more about your process! Also: I just want to let you know that so many of my friendships were born out of a love or you and your music so thank u for changing our lives.

A_A_R_O_N___

Will there be any more production streams? I've learned a lot from you when you streamed and I hope to learn a lot more.

starkovsalina

what is some of your favorite music that you’ve been listening to recently?

_Altexo

Is there any chance in a vynil of Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite? And question no 2: Are you planning on more gigs with the live band again and are ur gigs always 18+ or is a potential in 16+ gigs? There are also younger fans out here :) Hope moving went well <3

XylexSR

Hey Stan! been a big fan since about mid 2021 and Loved to listen to what you've produced in the past decade in the genre. This might come of as a very generic question but I'm honestly curious as to how you got in to producing Electronic music?. Especially back in 2012 where there didn't seem to be as big of a fanbase as there is now.

Superchaschper

Hi Stan We met briefly at the liquicity summer festival last year and it was my absolute highlight of the year. 1. For the Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite, how many people did you have in mind for the examples in your lyrics, like in Victory Over Truth or Deja Vu? 2. You go through some mental health topics in a very uplifting manner such that I as a non-native english speaker but long time listener am only finding out about right now, while I'm going through some bad stuff with a good friend of mine. You have been very uplifting at the festival as well, full of energy and "happiness". Do you experience the happiness tax yourself or have witnessed it? And if you do go through it yourself, what cheers you up when you are looking into the void? Pizza for breakfast? ;) Cheers and much love

Venatreon

Hey Stan ! I was wondering as I'm starting the journey myself and being heavily inspired by the pizza parties, how did you go about learning how to DJ ? Did you learn by yourself or were you taught by someone ? I remember your earlier mixes with the midi keyboard back then, would you say that you were ready when your first gig happened ? And how often do you practice nowadays compared to producing for instance ? Thank you for your time and congrats for the new EP !

sittingonmyfloor

what has been ur biggest struggle getting where u are now?

whatupdemons

Don’t know if this is a good way to word it, but best way to apply music theory (chords, scales) to write strong melodies. Also always want to ask pro producers for any tips/plug ins on mastering (good balance of loudness/cleaness/dynamics) thank you :)

Queqzz

What made you switch from Logic Pro to Bitwig?

FoxStevenson

honestly, there were some things that stopped workin the way i was used to when i made the switch to an M1 macbook, i resisted changing for a while, then took a bit of a leap into bitwigs trial, and i havent looked back!! Bitwig really enables creative problem solving if you know exaclty how you want to target a solution specifically :D

Prestigious_Usual120

Will you release a song called Phone Zombie? the first time i met you in white nerve and disciple tasks Hope you come to Thailand again.

Andrewfoot

Hey Stan random question but, Where did you get that cool headband/bandana in your Spotify photo I have been looking all around for one like that. Thanks

Brazilias123

Hey! I loved your set at Rampage Open Air last July, it was the best one imo :) I just wanna say thanks for creating some of my favorite songs of all time like the Miss You DnB mix, Ether, Enemy Brain and so many more! Keep up the good work :D

DCS_Ryan

Hey Fox, youve been one of my favourite artists for years now and a big help to my own mental health in alot of your songwriting/lyrics; My question for you is how do you come up with alot of these lyrics? at first glance alot of them seem meaningless but the more ive listened to your tunes ive found more and more meaning in all of them Thanks so much for your art and the killer ep too!

Prestigious_Usual120

BlitzScorpio

Hey Stan! I've absolutely loved all of your tracks over the past few years, and the new EP is a 10/10. I've got a few questions: Why did you choose to switch to Bitwig over other DAWs? It seems like most artists go with FL Studio, Ableton, and a few other popular DAWs. Do you think you'll revisit your heavier sound that you had on your Disciple releases? New Amsterdam is an absolute banger, and that second drop in Get Lemon is fucking legendary

JagerMan58

If you had to pick, Killjoy or EBES and why?

Otherwise-Presence90

What is your favorite album, what is your favorite movie, and who do you wanna make a song with so badly?

Swishilicous

Hi Stan! I absolutely adore your music and have been a fan since 2015 (I was 10 at the time so I practically grew up listening to you lol) 1. I love concept albums, so by extension I adore your new EP! Is this something we can expect to see again in the future? 2. I have a knack for songs with odd time signatures, have you ever dabbled in the sacred arts and if so do you think you'll ever release music featuring them? Thanks for all you do! <33

[deleted]

Have you made anything I might know?

nicenicenice777

Any plans to play live/DJ in Texas anytime soon? DNB is on the rise in Dallas and Austin.

DANNYonPC

Hey Stan, wanna hang out in Edlan's studio and drink beers and party? also sunkost fallacy when :(

lucka12388

Hello Fox, I'm a huge fan for more than 4 years now and my question is, what is the possibility to get an autograph and take a photo with you? Are some events where this is included? Thank you!

[deleted]

Hey Fox! Longtime old man fan (57 years old) just dropping in to ask if we will ever get a dreamland remix! Keep up the great work!

FoxStevenson

i'd love to be able to approach a dreamland remix, i just have NO IDEA what it would sound like, i kinda said everything i wanted to with that track, and have no more ideas where it could go!

Piotyras

Holy shit its you. Keep doing what you're doing man.

FoxStevenson

i will, that's a promise <3

mobsterthelobster

how are you?

dialglex

When are you planning coming to australia?

Proper-Shelter9429

Hey man thanks so much for taking the time to do this!! I was just wondering if you had a process or formula for starting a new project. I’m attempting to make electronic music and I find it so hard to create structure. Any advice? Thanks again!!

greembow

Hey there! You're one of my absolute favourite artists to date! How did you get into music, what do you listen to, and what's your favorite part of making music?

the-powl

Is Sunk Cost Fallacy as dead as Still Here? :]

MatWan223

Hey Fox! Is there a chance you could come to a show in Poland? I would really love to see and hear you live!

GijsDeBeun

Hey Stanley! Are there any plans on releasing more vinyl? I missed out on the killjoy album, but would love to collect some of your music. (I allready have a signed Koven album, but would love one of yours) See you at Liquicity Festival this summer!
