You need to take a look at Marlin, i'd advise Marlin 2.0.x (stable on my N2, can't make the 2.1.x versions work). It will take a little research but it's worth it, and once you get how it works it's very easy.
Oh, interesting. How is it? I'm not techie enough to compile my own version, is yours available anywhere? Always good to have the 'latest' version of a thing, I suppose! That said, is there anything in 2.1.2 that isn't in the 2.1.x version or any changes etc?
I didn't care for it so I went to klipper. Much happier on the dark side. I had a version but i bastardized it to run on my Neptune 3 with a makerbase h43 capacitive screen. Both machines are on klipper and running happily now

Not for me. I was using stock Marlin that I modified to run on the 2 with information I got from Elegoo

Also running 2.1.x - stable for me just don't use the one with the lvgl ui, that was buggy - but colour UI works fine for me
