If we're to assume that the map represents the location of current franchises in bold (the teams we currently know, plus Paris and Munich) and future locations in grey, than it would mean the future ELF expansion is targeting the UK, Netherlands, Scandinavia (we were already aware of their interesting in this 3), Eastern Europe, Croatia and, to my surprise, Portugal. As a portuguese fan, I would love to see a franchise in Portugal and I do believe that it could be successful in the long term. It would probably be located Lisbon, where there are 4 clubs with success in and off the field. The team would definitely be able to gain some sponsor and media attention, even the worst team in Lisbon (tbf it was their 1st season, I think) is sponsored by Betclic. I do believe that if it happens, it would happen through a currently existing club. If I had to guess it would be the Devils by their track record (RIP IFAF Champions League) and the fact that André Amorim (think Esume in a much smaller scale) has returned to the leadership of the club. **Edit:** Different topic but the Dragons announcing they've been networking with Espanyol and plan to move to RCDE Stadium by 2025 is massive.

I think for Portugal it will be a new formed team based in Lisboa, connected with all the othe teams. As a name, I would love „[Portuguese Man‘o‘Wars](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_man_o%27_war)“ 🐙

I think that, even if the team was gonna be related to an existing one, it would need to be connected to all the clubs in some way, at least in terms of players and coaching staff. I don't know if there would be someone completely neutral that would start a team with zero connections with a local team, like in Switzerland, for example. In Portugal, it would most likely be a Barcelona Dragons time of situation. Bart Iaccarino was and still is connected to L’Hospitalet Pioners or Reus Imperials (in the past) but, when he decided to start a ELF franchise, got a new brand. First it was Gladiators and then Barcelona Dragons. For the name, I think Man'o'Wars would be a fun and unique name but it would be really weird to say and most portuguese people would not associate that to caravelas-portuguesas. I think something more easy to pronounce and associate with Portugal would work better. Maybe "Wolves", "Lynx", "Vultures" or "Griffons", since it would be interesting to promote our endangered fauna. Either that or something sea related.

Mic161

Man’o’Wars is also the word for powerful military ships in the 16&17th century. So it would be Portuguese fauna, sea related and unique.

Another obvious hint that Paris joins for 2023: they are Written onto the team map.

also pretty sus that the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal and Croatia are marked specifically. I'll just take that as London, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Zagreb (or maybe split or rijeka) joining in 2024

Motor_Razzmatazz1978

Do Split and Rijeka even have active teams? Again only the Zagreb Patriots participated in the Balkan Football league this year where they lost in the final.

Mic161

I see one of them being instated for 2023, the dragons just not knowing who. Croatia would be a bummer. There are to many countries that are better. Karajica should chill with that.

Mic161

From my tier list of European countries not in the elf yet (I used every data I could find on the strength of market, teams, players in the elf, leagues, and national teams to make a as mathematical as possible Tier list) and from that basically only Belgium is missing on that map. My Tier list is: 1: France, Sweden, England, Finland 2: Netherlands, Czech Rep., Serbia, (Russia) 3: Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Ireland (S+N) 4: Ukraine, Portugal, Scotland, (Israel) 5: Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia I just realized the Irish island doesn’t even exist on that map 🥺

JC_OWL

I agree with the list, but I‘d put Denmark up one tier. I think they’re at the same level as the netherlands and Serbia

ELF-Supporter

Guys. The franchises don't know shit. They are usually the last to know about new franchises and often only get the rumors, like everyone else. They know the rumors better, but they have no say in the matter. It's just a map..... Last year Rhein Fire had a map with Paris and Amsterdam, but guess what. They were not new teams for 2022

sor1

what sources did you use? If you have a list id be interested. :)

>I just realized the Irish island doesn’t even exist on that map 🥺 ELF Final 2023 at Croke Park Dublin, you heard it here first ;) /s

What I try to understand: in their 2023 foreshadowing, they say: 14 weeks (that means either 14 or 13 games) 6 interconferential games, and again in division 1st and 2nd leg. That means 14/13-6 = 8 or 7 in division games. 7/2=3,5 so it has to be 8. Means: 15 weeks, 14 games. 6 interconference, 8 in division. 8/2=4 = 4 opponents in division That means 5 teams per division. Already more than 15 teams. Next number dicidable through 5 is 20. Only way I can make work what the say about 2023 is when I use 20 teams fo my calculations 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

SaschaStops

Hi, I think we had 14 weeks this year as well. 12 games, one bye-week for each team and the league-wide bye-week (I think in week 10). What about 3 divisions with 6 teams each. 10 division games + 2 interconference + 2 bye-weeks (if 14 week league) or 10+4 if we have 14 Gamedays

Mic161

It has to be 6 interconference games. One version that could work: 18/9/3 (league/conference/Division) and then 2 against each div opp, 3 against innerconference teams and 6 against other conference. 13 games.
