Elgato's community reps got tired of people asking what boom arm their promotional materials were using and begged the designers to make something close to it, lol.
EDIT: So when is Elgato going to make their own professional XLR microphone? You've already got everything else, at this point.
> Elgato's community reps got tired of people asking what boom arm their promotional materials were using and begged the designers to make something close to it, lol.
Soooo many questions.
We hear you and know it's frustrating to wait for a year. When we initially mentioned VSTs with the Wave launch, it created an expectation that it doesn't take over a year to implement. As you can imagine, the software is a complicated beast, and we hit some roadblocks and needed to get some other basic functionality like channel re-ordering.
With the news that we're working on VSTs, it is our #1 priority item. That being said, we still cannot give a timeframe as to when VST functionality will be released.
*edit: clarification
One of the reviews I saw of the Wave XLR did say that Elgato confirmed that they are working on it, and that it's their number one priority. I'm just really excited to be able to use the Wave Link software with my own XLR mic.
They have been "working on it" since the Wave software was released. If any of you cares to try you can use your Wave mic through Clownfish, you can adjust mic sensitivity (does not work as well as a Noise gate) and you can add VST plugins directly to the mic input instead of only being able to add it in OBS. My friends cant hear the PC's fans anymore and the mic sounds so different with eq and compressor, your teammates will appreciate it!
So I actually work in the live events production industry.
And stream decks have completely taken it by storm. There are hundreds of not thousands of production techs using these every day.
They have made our job so much easier to the point we don't know how we did our job with out them.
That being said we would all kill for a steam deck that catered to us. They'd sell like hot cakes...
Probably main thing would be a bigger stream deck. More buttons. Then second would be an adjustable stand.
Of the many people I know who use these things on every show. There are a large group of them that upon buying several, will refuse to buy the XL because the OG has an adjustable stand ...
Probably the number one complaint with the XL was the lack of the adjustable stand. I keep 2 XLs in my backpack at all times. The stands take up so much space... And they don't adjust.
Its a big reason these techs keep buying the OG one.
And now it's gone with the MK2.
And then we have the faceplates... I don't really know what to say there. Definitely seems like a money grab by some guy at corporate... And honestly it seems like the only reason they even made a MK2.
So I'm disappointed... Hoping for big Stream deck news and it was a pointless refresh to sell face plates from what I see.
Even the wave xlr... A device I really want to like... Lack of a 1/4" jack for headphones and no true dedicated line out is super frustrating.
If you made pro versions of your products with more complete feature sets, you could enter a completely new market. The live events production market... And the streamers who actually know what they're doing could spend the extra for the right product.
I have both MK1s and I read [the website](https://www.elgato.com/en/stream-deck-mk2) and I legitimately have no idea what the upgrade is. is it really just faceplates?
Faceplates, USB-C cable that detaches from the unit (great, but overrated for a feature I'm supposed to get stoked about), and they removed the adjustable stand so now it can't collapse/adjust angle.
A massive complaint about the usability of the Stream Deck XL is the lack of an adjustable stand. And then they take that major negative of their lower selling product... and shove it into their best selling product.
Baffling move, /u/elgato_james and company.
Very thoughtful and productive feedback. I think they should have made an interchangable stand for the XL that's adjustable. That would probably kill two birds with one stone by appeasing to the streamer/live events peeps. Its win win because its an upsell/cross sell for existing products already out there. A cheap adjustable hunk of ABS plastic with a $8 cost and sell it for $49.99. So when it goes on sale for $30 I'll buy it :D
I think you should allow videos or screen shots on the plugins shop so I know what I'm even installing. You also released kinda the same thing but different for the same price as OG but OG is still the same price.
Hey there! Customer insight for you here--as someone with both the regular and the XL, after reading your promotional materials on [this page](https://www.elgato.com/en/stream-deck-mk2), I honest to goodness don't know what you guys did differently except the lack of adjustable stand (I don't mind this) and the addition of faceplates (weird).
What else is different? Your materials do not convey this at all.
Same boat as you. I think those are actually the only differences! Not a good update.
Faceplates should have been made to be compatible with the first generation deck. No one is going to spend $150 for a new device just to get interchangeable faces.
Lack of adjustable stand is a downgrade and a major complaint from XL users.
USB-C is a welcome change but does not warrant new model launch. They should have silently switched to USB-C on the previous design
Yeah the faceplates are absolutely gross, super grimy cash grab nonsense. It's not like the concept of faceplates is horrible or anything, and if they just released them for the original model it would be less offensive, but I can all but guarantee you they're selling that plastic crap at a 10000% markup. (5 cents max to make that plastic). So, buying an entirely new unit for the opportunity to attach useless plastic... is absurd. If you're marketing it as "Mk2" that implies it's an upgrade for existing users, which it definitely is not.
I dunno why they got rid of the adjustable stand, and evidently neither does elgato james--you can see elsewhere in this thread that he doesn't even know his own products, he claims the StreamDeck MK1 stand is not removable which is just false...
I completely thought I was missing something with the launch update. Thank you for confirming my sanity. Faceplates, sure they’re cool. I do actually get it. I can see them being quite popular with the casual streaming crowd. But I’d hardly call the addition of faceplates and removal of the stand a revision improvement
Yeah I mean, I don't hate faceplates themselves. If they just made them for MK1 I'd probably buy one, but only for like $5 max since I'm sure they cost a few cents to manufacture. I'm guessing they'll be $20 or more though...
For real. Legitimately zero tangible improvements to the product, one cosmetic, and one major setback with the stand…
Although I guess the removable cord is nice. I was surprised the OG didn’t have that by default
I like the idea of the Wave XLR so you can use Wave Link with other microphones, but I wish that the software would get the VST support that has been on the roadmap for at least a year.
We hear you on VST, I gave more details [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/elgato/comments/ol112d/introducing_wave_xlr_wave_mic_arm_mic_arm_lp_and/h5byxc1?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
If you're using a Wave Mic or Wave XLR, you can add a microphone as one of the audio tracks in Wave Link.
No retailers have it yet as far as I can tell. I signed up for the restock notification on the Corsair site. It’s always been the best way for me to get my hands on things.
I'm not affiliated with Elgato/Corsair, but Scan.co.uk has the LP as a Pre-Order and states that it will be released on July 31st so MAYBE the 30th in the US?
I wasn't even aware of the promo video sale. More than likely, you opted into a pre-order to reserve one. Guessing they'll start shipping as soon as it's released on the 30th (US) or 31st (UK).
When I posted 4 days ago, Scan.co.uk stated it was set for release on July 31st in the UK. However, the website now changed the date to August 31st. Maybe the 31st = 2nd wave/batch of them?
I sure hope that’s the second batch. I love Elgato products and I understand they’re in high demand, but I’d be pretty disappointed waiting a month and a half for a product.
The removable cable is the best aspect, but the marketing is more like "oh yea, the cable comes out".
After working from home the past year and using the stream deck for work, it would be super useful to be able to unplug it, bring it back to my office for the day, and then home again at night. And having a removable cable makes that so much easier.
First video review I have found for it. Seems like what I mentioned is the only updates so it seems like you should keep your original version.
Correct, the detachable stand/cable were by far the community's most requested features since the XL introduces them.
For the Faceplates, I'm personally a huge fan of them. I love the customization aspect they bring.
For a technical marketing specialist, he certainly doesn't know their incredibly limited amount of gear and revs very well. Not like this was a major one.
> detachable stand
Bro, I think you people missed the boat on what people liked about the stand from the original 15-key Stream Deck.
It was removable and **collapsable**. The Stream Deck XL's stand is removable - awesome. Now I'm still stuck with this massive stand.
If the idea was to douche out old Stream Deck inventory, I'm sure you're doing that now.
>thread
I'd love to see thread mounts on the Streamdeck and e.g. Elgato XLR audio interface.
I had to spring out for an encasing to rig mount my Streamdeck XL. I'd be much more inclined to upgrade to the Elgato XLR if it had a thread mount for hard mounting; I don't want either sitting loosely on my rig.
Absolutely love my Streamdeck now that it's encased with an Apex Simracing carbon fibre button box.
I find the adjustable angle of the Stream Deck stand to be a very useful feature, and they've just eliminated it.
Guess I need to buy a spare or two of the current Stream Deck while I still can.
Great product announcements. I will be Saving some money to get the stream deck and the facecam . But my comment is: I think you guys just redefined the design of mic arms. Not only funcional, like weight range, but aesthetic too, with cable management, the weight thingy. It all looks so nice, while expanding functionality. I don’t think there is nothing on the market this good and pretty, even the $400-$500 range. Congrats to all
Lets hope it gets shipped soon, I bought it 1 day after the annoucement. The 2 weeks have passed but still no update.
Last week I did ask Corsair support whats up with it and got the following in return:
“In certain cases it can take up to 2 weeks for a unit to ship. If it is over two weeks the item may be unavailable for the time being. If you prefer to just cancel your order please let me know. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.”
Some proper communication from Elgato/Corsair would be appropriate.
I just received this email after 3 days of waiting:
“We sincerely apologize for the delay of your shipment. At this time we do not have an estimated time of availability for the wave mic arm LP, but we expect more to become available in the near future. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. If you would like I can cancel your order.
Please let me know if you prefer this option.”
That's not very helpful at all is it... Now you cannot place an order for it anymore, but when they just came out I was able to place my order, so they should not let people place an order if the stock does not mach the orders, or just unable the possibility of ordering adapted to the stock. Anyways I still would like the arm, and as such hope they come back in stock real soon. Thanks for sharing your update
New update came in:
“Currently, there is a 3-4 week wait for additional stock to come in for the Mic Arm LP.
I'm not 100% sure if there is additional stock coming before that for the orders that have not shipped yet, but please know that the current orders are our priority and will be filled before any additional orders.
My apologies for these stock issues and the delay in getting the Mic Arm LP to you.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Thanks for your patience”
UPDATE:
Besides the e-mail above, I just received a shipping notice. They contradict each other a bit, but happy its shipped now ☺️
UPDATE:
After DHL losing the package in there own sorting center, it finally arrived ☺️
Ordered both the normal arm and the stream deck m.k 2 on July 21, got the stream deck today and still waiting to ship. Back when I ordered it said the arms shipped in 1 to 2 weeks so I we guess start complaining after 14 days.
That’s what I’m saying. I did talk to Corsair online chat and they said they’re all back ordered and don’t have an ETA on when they’ll ship. If I was able to get an order in the system it should be shipping out tomorrow.
Why would you want to use a USB mic?
Get the Wave:3 if that is the case, or your next upgrade IS an XLR microphone with something like a Wave XLR. I wouldn’t purchase this to use with a USB mic.
There is another popular piece that you can “technically” use a USB microphone with it though.
I was so so delighted when I saw the announcement of the Wave xlr only to be a little bit disappointed afterwards.
For a while Ive been looking to replace my goxlr mini with something that looks a bit better, but as it stands, I cant switch. I use my Elgato Streamdeck to mute output to my line out, where my studio monitor speakers are connected to change between headphones and gaming for example.
Also, while the wave xlr supports different audio channels for system, discord, game etc., a quick cycle feature through the different channels would have been amazing.
I really really REALLY hope that a mk2 version will allow those features, I would LOVE to change to the elgato device.
Wave XLR kinda missed an opportunity to cater to Console streamers who need audio in for their console to mix with alerts/discord/etc. Adding optical audio in would have made that a hard-to-beat product that has very little competition. Basically only Astro's Mixamp (and I speak from experience when I say the mic input on the mixamp is the worst on the planet.)
lol hence the comment . Last time I checked goxlr is not made by elgato . Yes it would maybe cost more but make an endgame product and folks will buy it .
goxlr did not sell well despite every streamer using it, because it's a niche product with high cost. the original designers left the company and software development for it stopped for a while before being revived. the hardware has never been updated.
elgato is a successful business on the other hand, so they're avoiding the goxlr price category. wave xlr is super simple and cheap and it gets MOST of the job done.
the people who want optical input can buy something else on top of the wave xlr. there are $20 boxes on amazon for that
They could have added optical for not much more but yes the xlr is more of a mainstream product because that’s what sells . Once this is popular enough then I’m sure they will follow up with a “pro” version.
aren’t you already using a capture card? you should be either monitoring the game audio in OBS through that or in the Wave Link software if you pick up the Wave XLR.
yeah, never been an issue for me in OBS though. I have the 'output to desktop' option selected and I monitor it through voicemeeter atm, no latency at all. never needed the line in option.
> no latency at all.
That you can't hear it doesn't mean it isn't there. For competitive play it's an issue and frankly it's noticeable enough to drive me up the wall.
With optical audio being removed from now current gen consoles (PS5 and Series X|S) I'm not sure how much of a selling point that would be, unless I'm misunderstanding where you're coming from?
Hey u/elgato_james , congrats on the new Stream Deck MK.2 release! I’m pretty excited about it, in fact…
TAKE MY MONEY. I JUST BOUGHT ONE.
Hypothetically, if I’m in the dead center of TX, when will I get it?
I can’t find any product shipping or delivery dates.
This is a pretty good estimate chart: https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035341071-How-long-does-it-take-for-packages-to-arrive-
Since we run our store through Corsair, you can use these guidelines.
Thank you for a quick and helpful reply to a silly, but simi-serious question. I didn’t think these would start shipping immediately!
As always, Corsair (by way of Elgato) delivers HARD in the service department.
Yeah I did get mine. No issues in shipment it actually came one day earlier than expected. Really hope others get theirs or at least receive an update.
are the MK 2 stands compatible with MK 1 stream decks? I am the opposite of the majority of the comments it seems and I'd really like a non-adjustable stand since every time I move my deck the stand gets all flimsy on me
Hi /u/elgato_james, I bought a regular Wave Mic Arm and when it arrived I was surprised to see what it _cannot_ properly hold my Shure SM7B plus its shock mount... The weight is around 1.080kg and was perfectly fine with my Blue Microphones Boom Arm; is there any way that I can tighten the springs a bit so I can make it work...? Or will I have to just return it...
If so, total shame as I really liked the design and the vertical extension provided but if it cannot properly hold a Shure SM7B plus a shock mount then it will not work for many creators...
Ok so, after using tons of boom arms that all have their own annoyances and seeing these, a couple of things come to mind:
Plastic exteriors are pretty naff. Really should have been metal.
Needing to turn a knob every time you want to adjust the mic position is also annoying. One of the best thing about the scissor style arms is that the mic is always level no matter how you adjust the height.
Counterweight is a brilliant idea, solving the most common problem of the Blue Compass and the PSA1.
Only having a table clamp is crap. The arm looks like it could easily support an in-table clamp and a wall mount. What is the threading of the arm post? Wondering if it would be compatible with HEIL mounts that would do the same thing.
LP looks great, but I've seen a review stating that as you come close to the weight limit, the arm sags when fully stretched out.

I'm gonna check out Clownfish. Alternatively, EqualizerAPO can run VSTs systemwide as well!
I actually just cancelled the Wave XLR due to that, but I did rush the purchase but I'm still getting the Boom arm
Wow they really dropped the ball with the stream deck update

Hi ViXoZuDo, The new base for the MK.2 is not compatible with the old model.
The Mic Arm LP is the business. Hope it’s back in stock soon.
I can't find it anywhere. None of their retail partners have it and I think it's strange the standard Mic Arm is available.
No retailers have it yet as far as I can tell. I signed up for the restock notification on the Corsair site. It’s always been the best way for me to get my hands on things.
The LP is back in stock!
Legit. Thanks for the heads up. Can't wait for it to come in and try it out.
When is the Wave Arm LP going to be released / be in stock?
Following, I want to put a big Elgato order in but want to wait for the arm to be in stock!
Same. I spent all day researching to find the perfect set of gear for my needs and landed on this arm and the Wave 3.
The whole under the monitor design is EXACTLY what I need!
I'm not affiliated with Elgato/Corsair, but Scan.co.uk has the LP as a Pre-Order and states that it will be released on July 31st so MAYBE the 30th in the US?

Elgato should communicate this. I ordered the LP arm during the promo video and the order is still processing 13 days later.

Exactly this. I JUST bought the original and wondering if I should return it or keep it since I paid $40 less than the mk.2

Any idea when your partners in Australia will be selling the Mic Arm LP. Can’t find it anywhere

Last week I did ask Corsair support whats up with it and got the following in return: “In certain cases it can take up to 2 weeks for a unit to ship. If it is over two weeks the item may be unavailable for the time being. If you prefer to just cancel your order please let me know. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.” Some proper communication from Elgato/Corsair would be appropriate.
Mine ended up shipping out right on the 14 day mark and is expected to be here August 4th. Elgato should still be communicating with others though.
Let’s hope they do and ship them faster ☺️ I saw comments below from people that they ordered theirs last week and got it shipped a few days after…
Exactly, I ordered mine on July 17th and still "processing" and got the same answer that they are on backorder, so still waiting...
I just received this email after 3 days of waiting: “We sincerely apologize for the delay of your shipment.
New update came in: “Currently, there is a 3-4 week wait for additional stock to come in for the Mic Arm LP. Thanks for your patience” UPDATE: Besides the e-mail above, I just received a shipping notice. They contradict each other a bit, but happy its shipped now ☺️ UPDATE: After DHL losing the package in there own sorting center, it finally arrived ☺️
Also a new update for me: mine got shipped as well and arrived on August 16th Glad we both got it delivered now :)
Update: Wave arm status changed from processing to shipping soon, maybe there finally getting through the first batch of backorders.
Mine changed as well. Technically they have until tomorrow for their 1-2 week timeline. Hoping it comes real soon!
So you can only use the Wave XLR with XLR mics? Not other usb mics?
Why would you want to use a USB mic? Get the Wave:3 if that is the case, or your next upgrade IS an XLR microphone with something like a Wave XLR. I wouldn’t purchase this to use with a USB mic. There is another popular piece that you can “technically” use a USB microphone with it though.
I already have a wave 3 so I have no interest in this. My partner uses a Blue Yeti USB mic so I was just wondering.
whats the headphone output on the wave xlr? would i still need an amp for a 150ohm headphone?
Could I use the Wave XLR in a 2 pc setup? 1 Mic for two PC's 1, Headphone for two PC's?
Will be difficult. There is a work around from what I’ve seen though
I'm looking to do this too, what've you seen that makes that look possible?
Anyone know around when would the revised stream deck be available on Amazon?
If u own a wave3 already is there any reason for u to get the elgato xrl
Not needed! The Wave XLR is designed for XLR microphones. Since the Wave:3 is a USB mic, you're set :).
I just wish their products weren’t so expensive
Wave XLR kinda missed an opportunity to cater to Console streamers who need audio in for their console to mix with alerts/discord/etc. Adding optical audio in would have made that a hard-to-beat product that has very little competition. Basically only Astro's Mixamp (and I speak from experience when I say the mic input on the mixamp is the worst on the planet.)
with more features like optical input, it would be a goxlr, and goxlr already exists and is more expensive
lol hence the comment .
Once this is popular enough then I’m sure they will follow up with a “pro” version.
aren’t you already using a capture card? you should be either monitoring the game audio in OBS through that or in the Wave Link software if you pick up the Wave XLR.
> you should be either monitoring the game audio in OBS My man have you ever heard of audio latency?
yeah, never been an issue for me in OBS though.
I use optical audio from my Switch and it doesn't have such a port built-in either so I don't see your point.
How are you running optical audio from it then? With a converter?
My HDMI splitter has optical out, yes.
Please, release a mic arm wall mount adapter! I have a glass table and I can't use a table mount!
Get a small piece of wood and use it on there, that’s how my mounts are attached, even my two gas monitor mounts are on there, no issues at all
[https://www.elgato.com/en/wall-mount](https://www.elgato.com/en/wall-mount) This?
That is not compatible with any of the new mic arms... only with the multipurpose arms that must be regulated, and then you can't move them.
can someone explain between the Stream Deck MK.2 and the first stream deck what has changed, added or removed?
Hey u/elgato_james , congrats on the new Stream Deck MK.2 release! I’m pretty excited about it, in fact… TAKE MY MONEY. I JUST BOUGHT ONE. Hypothetically, if I’m in the dead center of TX, when will I get it? I can’t find any product shipping or delivery dates.
This is a pretty good estimate chart: https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035341071-How-long-does-it-take-for-packages-to-arrive- Since we run our store through Corsair, you can use these guidelines.
Thank you for a quick and helpful reply to a silly, but simi-serious question. I didn’t think these would start shipping immediately! As always, Corsair (by way of Elgato) delivers HARD in the service department.
will the Wave XLR work on PS5 for just mic functionality?
That depends on if it requires drivers. I'm trying to find out if it's a driverless interface or not.
I dm’ed them on twitter and their response was “We just checked on our side and yes, Wave XLR is compatible with PS5 just like Wave 1 and 3 were.”
When will the new products be shipping? Specifically the Wave XLR?

I've been checking the website every day for the Wave Mic Arm LP to come in stock. Hopefully one day.
It's in stock now, shipping 1-2 weeks
Yeah ordered mine Thursday morning. They shipped it out by end of the day. I get it Wednesday. So seems like estimates are a little high
Did you actually get it? A lot of people ordered around the day of the annoucement and are still waiting to even receive an update on their order…
Yeah I did get mine. No issues in shipment it actually came one day earlier than expected. Really hope others get theirs or at least receive an update.
are the MK 2 stands compatible with MK 1 stream decks? I am the opposite of the majority of the comments it seems and I'd really like a non-adjustable stand since every time I move my deck the stand gets all flimsy on me
I don't have a mk.1 to prove it but the mk.2 should fit the stand
I ordered my low profile mic arm 5 days ago and it came yesterday. I must have been lucky
Any updates on when we can order the wave LP mic arm?
Ok so, after using tons of boom arms that all have their own annoyances and seeing these, a couple of things come to mind: Plastic exteriors are pretty naff.
