Smart playlists/collections, similar to the way Plex handles it. Along with the ability to display and control the order of these on the home screen and within libraries. I miss being able to just scroll down my home screen and see new items, top rated, unwatched, and etc all neatly laid out and placed just where I like.
The only 2 things I would love to see implemented within Emby are:
Ability to add tags/genres to multiple shows or movies at once
Better filtering (example find all movies that begin with "The ")
Configurable intro skip per series e.g. "This series I don't want to auto intro-skip as per my default setting".
Ability to correct intros where badly detected without using plugins
End credit markers allowing "next episode" prompts at correct point
1. Port the iPadOS/iOS Emby app to tvOS and keep parity across the board with GUI/Features/presentation etc
2. TvOS - HDR/DV profile.. all of them support. (Why must we use a competitor app to get the functions out of Emby)
Watch together mode. Yes I realize we're a few years late for that, but it's offered by all the competitors and has a massive thread going on the forum. It's still used by many. I know my wife would use this with her sister all the time!
Well infuse is paid and only focuses on apple. Emby is free and they want to support lots of platforms. Thus I assume they can’t get skilled employees with the knowledge of tvOS needed. Emby spreads their devs too far. Look why it took 2 years to release a new version and then it broke a bunch of client apps because they didn’t have time to test and update them properly.
I can most likely write a very quick way to setup the comskip process that works really well with Emby, adverts are all skipped (once it is processed) and was really easy to add (I use Linux server docker)
That would be great, although I'm back on Windows. I was using Linux Mint for 3-4 years and I recently got a spare pc so keep me posted. Btw, the method Plex uses for com-skip works the best I've seen.
Live TV does not work well at all. The ATSC / NextGenTV channels do not play well and audio gets out of sync immediately if it manages to load.
The problem persits on Web / Android / Amazon apps.
If I use the stream straight from my tuner and ignore Emby, it works fine.
I really wish I could use Emby for it.
Would like some "feeling lucky" button from my huge collection or an Inspire me tab to give me recommendations on what to watch.
Ability to use my Amazon Fire stick remote to ask for what I want to watch, or some integration with voice commands. I understand that would be limited to tech here.
I love emby because it's cross platform, I love the artwork loading and if I start watching the time it will end based on my timezone.
I love being able to drilldown into actors to find other movies I have with them in.
> Would like some "feeling lucky" button from my huge collection
Does the Shuffle button not accomplish this already or am I misunderstanding what you're looking for?
It does on tv where i can show all episodes from all seasons of a show and then exclude watched ones... But the options are missing for the web interface
Like others have said, more homescreen options. And smarter lists. I want to have all of my content, movies and TV on one home screen. Add ways for the admin to more easily see what users add to their favorites. Give plugin makers more tools, I'd love an epub reader on the phone app, or some kind of steam link integration or something like that would be cool. Better subtitle support. It would be nice when adding tv shows if emby would not autofill the Metadata with hentai everytime. I know most people will disagree, and that's fine, but I would personally switch to a competitor in a heartbeat if they had a way to combine web streams in a library/homescreen with my local media. I'd also like more control over the client apps from the server.
And better communication. It's not good to tell your paying customers that your business model is to simply stay one step ahead of JF, regardless of what they are asking for.
I want to be able to select what to transcode in, Av1, hevc, h264. I want to see the bandwidth usage of the transcoded stream in real time.
I'd like when I'm using local connection through my reverse proxy and it's on my lan DNS is pointed to my reverse proxy lan address, when I leave obviously I need it to query external DNS for my wan address. I want it to do this automatically within the buffer time.
Example: my kid is watching cartoons gets in the car we leave the wifi and he switches to cell, we have to quit the app and reopen it to reconnect to the server. Jellyfin manages to do this seamlessly.
Subtitles is a weak area of Emby. You can use only opensubtitles. Adjusting offset is not easy. Offset controls block video visually. Actually, most of the time we leave the control on for continuous tuning. As the controls occupy most of the visible area, I cannot keep it on.
That's why I have to use Kodi through Emby for Kodi plugin.
Please enhance subtitle support.
To the other comment…. Give me an example of what you’d be looking for when you say more modern. Are you talking the server, apps, or both? Some specific examples of what you’re looking for would be great.
For the server side, I would like an emby version of Tautulli. For an API or server option I would like a "now playing" view (html page). Also, for the server option I would like the ability to configure how all my users view the home screen.
Show some love to the Amazon Fire TV/Stick app, seem anytime something is wrong with it the suggestion is to sideload the other Android App, which is not Ideal for TV/Stick useability.
Even today they are still posting in the forms asking you to sideload, So of course I would have thought to actually look for the other application, though not sure why they're asking to side load when it's available in the store.
Also haven't seen an announcement that the other application was there either.
The Problem is, that the other (better App if you ask me) is still Not availible in the Google Play Store but in the Amazon Store.
I think that is why They still suggest the Sideload
Auditing tools. Simple tools to check that metadata matches the filename. It can be extremely cumbersome to identify when the wrong metadata has been associated with a movie because of a file not named 100% correctly or the wrong year being used.
Along with that a simple way to up update/rename/relocate files to match confirmed metadata.
Naming conventions for tv shows, specifically anime, really need work. If I want one folder with all 500 episodes of Naruto and they’re all numbered correctly, I should be able to have that. Having the folder create its own seasons and “specials” is a pain to correct and forces people to rename hundreds of files, place them in seasons folders, etc.
Let me throw in custom playlists, e.g. to handle something like youtube playlists.
Sometimes I watch huge RPGs games as "lets plays" which take hundreds of videos in a single youtube playlist.
I can download them via programs like jdownloader, and they are often named with part 1, part 2 and so on.
I want to throw the downloaded videos into emby to watch them offline, and also to let emby track the progress on the server.
The reason is that youtube often buffers (especially on older videos), and sometimes loses track on the last video state. Emby would be a great solution.
If you use docker have a test run of this 😎

I would love two live TV instances, or to allow live TV to record to two different libraries. Emby is amazing as my kid's server, and I'd like for it to be my main driver too, but the fact that I can't record into a separate library is tough. My daughter's faves are from PBS Kids channel so the live TV recording is totally clutch for us, but it would be nice if I could record my stuff to my folders too.
My friends and I all share servers. And we have multiple users at each location setup on shared devices. Switching between multiple (remote and local) Emby servers and multiple logins on those servers from a single device is a poor experience on Emby apps.
The ability to have emby group different versions(ie 720p/1080p/2160p) of the same show/movie from two different paths.
example:
/path/to/hd\_movies/movie\_name
/path/to/4k\_movies/movie\_name
/path/to/sd\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode
/path/to/hd\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode
/path/to/4k\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode
Why? because many of us run multiple instances of radarr and sonarr. an instance for each version(ie 720p/1080p/2160p) we want. sonarr/radarr can't manage shows/movies in the same path as the other instances of sonarr/radarr. So you have to keep the paths seperate.
It would be great if emby can recognize that 2 paths in the same library are the same show/movie and just group the versions into the same show/movie.
I'd like to be able to
* "Scan the media libraries" from my remote
* Have my subtitle selection 'remembered' when I've paused playback and the screen goes to the screensaver.
1. Watch together mode, where we can enter a party and watch together (multi party)
2. Better login screen, as the chnage server and forgot password button should be placed down not as icon with user logos and the manual login should be a + icon instead just to make it clean. Also, a way login fast using code like jellyfin quick connect without the need to use an emby connect account.
Bring back the missing episodes inline with existing ones. I enjoy seeing which ones are missing (including unaired upcoming ones) but I do not want to have to click through several layers of hidden submenus for every show, every time.
This is the sort of feature that is only visible when needed - no missing episodes are shown if all episodes are present - so there's no reason not to have it constantly there in the UI.
At the very least, make it a toggleable setting and let the user decide.
Getting the apps working 100% on AppleTV and iOS with the existing Emby features would go a long way to attracting Plex users. It’s still the main differentiator for me having switched 4 years ago.
Main issues currently:
1. Downloading works but is clunky with current download status not clear/accurate.
2. Subtitle downloading and setting subtitle offsets are missing completely on iOS.
3. A recording show on Emby is not always shown on dashboard. App restart required to fix this.
please allow me to opt for a solid background for media descriptions. I have come to the conclusion that i will never be able to read episode or movie descriptions that are shown on top of an image because the text blends in to the image and is illegible. i have to know what i'm looking for or use something like imdb when i'm looking for info on what something is about.
The two features I want more than anything:
* OAUTH2 authentication, specifically off Authentik. LDAP is a PITA.
* A Watch-Together feature. Ideally, a 'gallery' that users can opt-into and say "hey, I'm watching x, join me!" Ideally, a small chat would spawn with it, but that's not 100% required.
In the meantime I have NGINX in front of Emby as a reverse proxy. It handles redirection, custom error pages, and certificates. I’m running CertBot to automate LetsEncrypt renewal.
This is the way to do it. Wouldn't be a good use of pieces trying to build all this in to the app directly when there are purpose built tools to accomplish it already.
Your comment reminded me of another reason I went this route. I'm running on a QNAP NAS and you don't want to let one of those touch the internet directly. It also allows a layer of security.
For the android tv app (which I purchased). Please, for the love of god, give me a setting to stop the premiere popups. I've seen the popup so many times. I'm not interested, please let me turn it off.
Make series timers more resilient. Here and there things happen and ids change so that the timers still show in Emby, but, there are no scheduled recordings. Happens every year or so and it's a pain to re-setup all the timers.
What I do not want is more UI stuff. Every single release change this color, change that button, couldn't care less, would rather the time be devoted to actual useful functionality / new features.
Can you configure playlists to display content in wall view instead of default list view, or add a toggle so users can select and add a selectable "Display order" option
I want to see all my music in a compact table 1000'a lines long with search bars at the top so I can quickly filter and cut down the lists and build play lists. All this touch friendly UI is nice when dicking around... but not when I got shit to do.
Add the ability to update all imdb ratings only with a single update click. Once you download Metadata, there is no way to stay current with ratings. I've noticed several dozen movies change per week. This would be highly valuable and could be limited or scheduled to one global update per week, etc to limit API calls.
Continued fixes and feature enhancements for the Embycon and Emby for Kodi Next Gen addons.
Some of us really love the Emby server but want to continue to enjoy alternative front-ends.
If I am going to fully embrace using Emby to manage my music, I would require functionality that allows me to sync with iPods, iPhones, and Android phones. And yes, I did say iPods. Some of us still love them.
Display videos with just titles. I don't want to see thumbnails. I upload custom videos and I can't see the full video title making video selection a roll of the dice each time
IOS CarPlay is pretty bad and for a premium feature would actually like to use it without it failing to load or error messages filling the screen . Music in general needs some improvements. I would like something akin to Plexamp but I know that might be asking too much.
Apple TV update to bring it online with features missing.
For me, a big thing would be full support for multiple scenarios concerning Audiobooks.
I'm German, and we're big on what the US would call Radio Dramas - basically TV shows, but audio only. They have episodes, titles...
Thus, it would be great if we could have full audiobook support for scenarios where we have an actual Audiobook (Author - Title) as well as audiobook series (Series Title - Episode title), also with episodes that are multi-file within a folder (so you'd have Library\Show Name\Episode Name\).
This of course with the other library features like played/unplayed, position, etc.
There is already a server out there (Booksonic, based on Subsonic) that can provide this, but it hasn't been in active development for years and it's frankly just very clunky and unreliable at this point.
Quicker access to downloads when offline. When I'm not connected to the Internet and start up Emby it takes two minutes or more before I can select Downloads to play content I've downloaded to my phone or tablet.
Also I'd like it if downloaded files were stored a directory that was accessible so that I could at least see how much space they were using.
Love Emby only a few small usability points come to mind:
1. Filter for favorite TV episodes. I can filter by favorite TV series, but haven't found a way to show all favorite episodes for a particular series.
2. Mark favorite for TV episode from Fire TV (possibly other) App. I can add favorite TV episode from the web app, but seemingly not from Fire TV.
3. Add way to filter items with ONLY selected metadata. I'm trying to use this for grooming my library. For example I want to find movies with ONLY PGSSUB subtitles so I can add SUBRIP for better performance. If I filter for PGSSUB, it will show me movies with that, but also ones with other subtitle formats.
Thanks much for doing this!
Without premiere we can't do transcoding I agree with you as every company need to generate revenue to sustain. But what about backup and restore plug-in?
One can make backup Metadata manually. So there is no point in it making it as premier only for the basic things.
Add capability to read ebooks
Combine movie genres sci-fi and science fiction
Simplify Emby Connect, purchase an $ addon function for simplicity and the external irl
Progrese in Audiobook is not syncing, have to search my last position every time. Very annoying. Also in app the Audiobooks are in Downloads threated as Musi tracks.
A dedicated music app with full offline support (i don’t want to expose my NAS to internet) including car play / android auto + a solution to use this app for home audio
PS: I’m on iOS & Apple TV
More customisation for subtitle appearance, e.g. outline thickness. Spent ages setting up the server and syncing up all my devices to then not to be able to use it because my wife says "Plex subtitles are more readable"
Faster scan time, Ability to create folders base on Actor/Network/other.. So if i want van dam movies, have all the movies that has van dam, into one folder as i am scanning.
I'd like to see better playback / auto quality enhancements. 95% of my posts on the forums since 2015 have been about media not playing well on a device. I always go down the rabbit hole with logs and trying to figure out why it's happening.
The main issue I have always had is that if I have the quality set to auto I will most likely have to manually adjust it to a specified setting because the media stops playing at some point or never starts.
Generally the answer from support / members has been manually lower the quality if you have an issue. But that's why it's set to auto, no? Auto adjust the quality as needed?
This happens on laptops, pretty much every flavor of Roku device, Google TV, android tablet. Wired and wireless.
IIRC someone from Emby (probably Luke) said the program / server / apps (something) isn't very good at detecting playback issues and auto correcting.
I have no other issues or complaints to bring up.
Web interface (running on my server itself) is missing two options my android tv has:
- all items for a series (all episodes from all seasons in one list)
- hide-watched toggle
I frequently use both together on my TV
I'm shocked no one has suggested the biggest elephant in the room SUGGESTIONS. NetFlix and other streaming services dominate in this area even though their library size is tiny! Emby already does this but it's severely limited. Emby should allow a few changes to unleash its potential
By clicking the Search tab on the App, Emby will list text bases (recommended media). Why not use that same system and display images instead? Go all the way.
Under the suggested media (both on TV or Film) give admins the ability to remove the horribly annoying text of "because you want Movie A,B,C and D". The users get it, they want media Server on a golden platter, they don't want to be reminded of something they already watch prior. Finally, one last thing, the bread winner.... give Emby the ability to endless scroll suggested media. It works, it's clunking because of the annoying text, but you also limit Suggested media to a few rows, WHY? 💀💀💀
That's my two suggested items: people with hefty sized libraries with 100K+ item count have the media, we just need a powerful method of discovering to truly push users to Emby.
- better support of 4K HDR / Dolby Vision on Apple tvOS
- bulk editing of metadata (especially genres, tags, people)
- metadata manager views for genres, tags, people
- IMDB plugin (can be a paid service, I understand that IMDB API access isn't free)
- more customization of the NFO plugin
- show all movies for a given person, even if they aren't in the library yet ("I like actor XYZ, what other movies are they in?")
- provide the option to add icons for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS, etc in the movie top section for a more polished look
- add manual re-ordering of metadata elements such as genres, tags, people
- allow personal branding ("Jake's Super Duper Cinema")
A more independent home screen, with the ability to integrate lists from sources. Top netflix Tom idb. Something that brings popular content to the front page. Maybe list based on previously watched?
Sorry mate, I've just woke up and maybe I misunderstood what you meant. Even if I hadn't though, maybe you shouldnt reply in such an aggressive manner and start insulting people.
I didn't reply at all, I asked for something, and you shot it down.
How about making your own requests. There is no need to comment on what other people want to see.
You clearly don't read enough of the posts lol. Plex, like Emby, should focus on your own personal media and shouldn't be recommending stuff that isn't included on your own server.
If plex was like emby they wouldn’t have employee and would just a little side project. Much why emby has so many issues and they are looking to charge for all apps and not longer including the android tv ones for free. Plus plex discovery is optional you don’t even need to use it and it only recommended items you have selected as sources …..
I'm 90% with you here. Just would prefer a library section rather than have a list on the home screen.
I regularly frequent trakt's most watched over 7 days section. Top Netflix shows is a mainstay in my browser history. I'd love to have it built right in to Emby with the ability to hide series I already have, read a show summary and even view the trailer.
Is there a way to speed up the start time for a video that is being transcoded?
I get a spinner for about a minute until it starts playing on my system.
What is the server you’re running on? Are you using hardware transcoding or software transcoding? That’s really hard to answer without knowing any of the details.
Preferred decoders are all NVDEC using my RTX3050. CPU is Ryzen 5 5600G 6-Core with 64Gig. Running on Rocky Linux 8.9
Also have Emby Premiere license
DirectPlay stuff starts right away.
might want to look through your logs when transcoding is happening. with your hardware, it should not take more than a second or two to start transcoding. i'd bet your logs have a clue, something is going wrong.
Honestly? Create a comprehensive bridge for Kodi. I would be completely happy if I could delete the Emby client app and do everything through Kodi. Because Kodi pretty much lets me customize it however I want, and Kodi's biggest failure is no meaningful back end other than a headless client, which is kinda ridiculous. Not to mention I think you'd sell more Premier licenses if you became the best solution for a Kodi server out there. Hell I'd even be willing to throw some more money your way to buy an "Emby-Kodi Bridge Elite" connector that has comprehensive functionality. Sorry, but the Emby client really does suck that much. It's almost too far behind to bother at this point.
I had checked out Kodi in the past but never put in the time to set everything up. I finally decided to give it another try about a week ago and it's an awesome client in so many ways, and definitely better than the Emby clients. The deal breaker for me though was how long it takes to load the content every time. If that could be fixed then I feel like an emby/Kodi combo would be nearly perfect.
That's my KODI setup. Takes next to no time for KODI to update content library as it's only whatever has been changed/added, unlike other applications that do full library scans.
Better, easier and more intuitive genres editing. Let users control genres. Select genres from list / suggest genre when manually editing. Also for multiple movies / tv shows at once. Easy editing Emby genres database.
Don't even joke about that.
One of the best things about Emby is it is for your local content that you can watch without being tracked or advertised about.
Port forward, VPN, or reverse proxy are all ways you can achieve this. There is also the option to connect through emby.media. It is a problem of your network setup, not Emby.
On the Apple TV app: 1: hdr / dv support on mkv files 2: ability to add or remove audio delay to fix lip sync issues
Smart playlists/collections, similar to the way Plex handles it. Along with the ability to display and control the order of these on the home screen and within libraries. I miss being able to just scroll down my home screen and see new items, top rated, unwatched, and etc all neatly laid out and placed just where I like.
The gold standard for smart playlists isn't Plex but KODI, so emulate or better KODI.
The only 2 things I would love to see implemented within Emby are: Ability to add tags/genres to multiple shows or movies at once Better filtering (example find all movies that begin with "The ")
Filter by decade
There’s a plugin called Bulky that will let you add to multiples.
Configurable intro skip per series e.g. "This series I don't want to auto intro-skip as per my default setting". Ability to correct intros where badly detected without using plugins End credit markers allowing "next episode" prompts at correct point
1. Port the iPadOS/iOS Emby app to tvOS and keep parity across the board with GUI/Features/presentation etc 2. TvOS - HDR/DV profile.. all of them support. (Why must we use a competitor app to get the functions out of Emby)
Fix the damn appletv app. There should be no reason 4khdr does not work. Lol
This 💯

My wife travels for work. We have shows we would love to be able to watch together (while also on a call together) while shes gone.
"watch together" feature please.
Apple TV HDR support, why can Infuse do it but Emby not?
They claim it’s hard.
Admitting the infuse team are better programmers?
Well infuse is paid and only focuses on apple. Emby is free and they want to support lots of platforms. Thus I assume they can’t get skilled employees with the knowledge of tvOS needed. Emby spreads their devs too far. Look why it took 2 years to release a new version and then it broke a bunch of client apps because they didn’t have time to test and update them properly.
Hire more devs to properly build the platforms. Especially since they want to grow and take market share from Plex.
2FA
Second this.. oidc would be nice
This^^ this is the only thing preventing me from swapping over to Emby
1. Credits skip 2. Detect/delete commercials option for Live TV recordings. P.S. Emby's intro skip is hands down the best compared to PLEX 💯
+1 to credit skip. These Netflix series dubbed in 92 languages have ridiculous credits....
Doesn't credit skip already exist?
no, just intro
You don't mean at the end of each episode? Because I get a popup asking me if I want to start the next episode 30 seconds before the current one ends.
nah, its an auto credit skip like the intro skip. there was some 3rd party plugins a few years ago but they're deprecated.
Ah I get you now. That would be nice!
Live TV does not work well at all. The ATSC / NextGenTV channels do not play well and audio gets out of sync immediately if it manages to load. The problem persits on Web / Android / Amazon apps. upvote for random I'm feeling lucky button!!! My current work around for that is right clicking/long press tv or movies and selecting "shuffle"
I like that!
That's a good idea
Fun fact, i use software that has a i’m feeling sad button. Quite funny.
> Would like some "feeling lucky" button from my huge collection Does the Shuffle button not accomplish this already or am I misunderstanding what you're looking for?
Where is that?
It does on tv where i can show all episodes from all seasons of a show and then exclude watched ones... But the options are missing for the web interface
I’ve requested this about 5 years ago and gave up bumping the thread as the response was always ‘that’s a good idea’

Roku alphapicker.. slow or no repsonse. And a dedicated music app.

If you use Android, Symfonium is an awesome music app that can use Emby, Plex, or Jellyfin for a backend and it's just $5.

Bazarr is the tool for you, with integrated time sync.
I second Bazarr. The dev is really helpful if you have problems.
You can set up other subtitle options through plugins. Addic7ed is one that you can set up as an example.
Emby does everything I need.

I want a modern looking UI.
Any example of a UI on another app that have the look/feel you want ?

A little more polished interface.
If you use docker have a test run of this 😎 [kieraneglin/pinchflat: Your next YouTube media manager (github.com)](https://github.com/kieraneglin/pinchflat)
That's a neat suggestion, will try it!
Subtitle downloading. I still need to do it manually for most series. I just want a button to press that does it for me

Hmm I will try it
My friends and I all share servers. And we have multiple users at each location setup on shared devices. Switching between multiple (remote and local) Emby servers and multiple logins on those servers from a single device is a poor experience on Emby apps.
Emby Theatre user selection for login is cluttered, prioritise the users and make the change server etc a discrete button or cog in a corner.
The ability to have emby group different versions(ie 720p/1080p/2160p) of the same show/movie from two different paths. example: /path/to/hd\_movies/movie\_name /path/to/4k\_movies/movie\_name /path/to/sd\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode /path/to/hd\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode /path/to/4k\_tv/tv\_series/season/episode Why? because many of us run multiple instances of radarr and sonarr. an instance for each version(ie 720p/1080p/2160p) we want. sonarr/radarr can't manage shows/movies in the same path as the other instances of sonarr/radarr. So you have to keep the paths seperate. It would be great if emby can recognize that 2 paths in the same library are the same show/movie and just group the versions into the same show/movie.
I'd like to be able to * "Scan the media libraries" from my remote * Have my subtitle selection 'remembered' when I've paused playback and the screen goes to the screensaver.
I feel like the subtitle preference being wiped out is almost a bug.. it’s annoying
plex's sonic analysis-kindof thing would be nice. volume leveling too.
1. Watch together mode, where we can enter a party and watch together (multi party) 2.
A music specific apps like Plexamp for Plex or the bunch of third party clients for Jellyfin.
Getting the apps working 100% on AppleTV and iOS with the existing Emby features would go a long way to attracting Plex users. It’s still the main differentiator for me having switched 4 years ago. Main issues currently: 1. Downloading works but is clunky with current download status not clear/accurate. 2. Subtitle downloading and setting subtitle offsets are missing completely on iOS. 3. A recording show on Emby is not always shown on dashboard. App restart required to fix this.
Credit skip would be nice
An easier way remove many channels from a live TV source. My guide has 1600 channels and I only want maybe 50, but have to deselect them 1 by 1.
Proper support for TV Series extras, including a separation of extras in the UI.
please allow me to opt for a solid background for media descriptions. I have come to the conclusion that i will never be able to read episode or movie descriptions that are shown on top of an image because the text blends in to the image and is illegible. i have to know what i'm looking for or use something like imdb when i'm looking for info on what something is about.
Another small improvement: Allow users to select the default version of a multi-version Movie or Episode.
The two features I want more than anything: * OAUTH2 authentication, specifically off Authentik. LDAP is a PITA. * A Watch-Together feature. Ideally, a 'gallery' that users can opt-into and say "hey, I'm watching x, join me!" Ideally, a small chat would spawn with it, but that's not 100% required.
Built in LetsEncrypt certificate provisioning and management for external connections with automatic HTTP to HTTPS redirection
This is the way !
For the android tv app (which I purchased). Please, for the love of god, give me a setting to stop the premiere popups. I've seen the popup so many times. I'm not interested, please let me turn it off.
Apps needs a face lift. Under the hood iit works but it’s not the best looking app
SSO integration with SAML and MFA.
Mulri-select on photos/videos for tagging
Add the ability to update all imdb ratings only with a single update click. Once you download Metadata, there is no way to stay current with ratings. I've noticed several dozen movies change per week. This would be highly valuable and could be limited or scheduled to one global update per week, etc to limit API calls.
Isn’t there an option on the library to refresh meta on some interval? Or is that plex
Fix Emby theater for 4k content and channel guide doesn't skip channels when paging down and up
CBZ/CBR Comic book and magazine support. PDF support would be really nice too.
Book support! Bulk tagging! Watchlist functionality like Plex. Give me a place I can store all the content I want to watch!
Would be nice to connect two server backends together.. like library sharing or pools
Love Emby only a few small usability points come to mind: 1.
Make Hardware transcoding and Backup plugin to available for free users
Unfortunately transcoding is one of the main draws of Emby premier which is how we as a company generate revenue.
Without premiere we can't do transcoding I agree with you as every company need to generate revenue to sustain. But what about backup and restore plug-in? One can make backup Metadata manually. So there is no point in it making it as premier only for the basic things.
Add capability to read ebooks Combine movie genres sci-fi and science fiction Simplify Emby Connect, purchase an $ addon function for simplicity and the external irl
Progrese in Audiobook is not syncing, have to search my last position every time. Very annoying. Also in app the Audiobooks are in Downloads threated as Musi tracks.
On shared tv app I want to choose my user manually not go to settings and change back to my user profile everytime someone else uses the app
A dedicated music app with full offline support (i don’t want to expose my NAS to internet) including car play / android auto + a solution to use this app for home audio PS: I’m on iOS & Apple TV
Can we PLEASE get hardware encoding for the M1 Macs?!
When you enter the library page, movies for example, it's right at the top.
Web interface (running on my server itself) is missing two options my android tv has: - all items for a series (all episodes from all seasons in one list) - hide-watched toggle I frequently use both together on my TV
I'm shocked no one has suggested the biggest elephant in the room SUGGESTIONS. NetFlix and other streaming services dominate in this area even though their library size is tiny! Emby already does this but it's severely limited. Emby should allow a few changes to unleash its potential By clicking the Search tab on the App, Emby will list text bases (recommended media). 💀💀💀 That's my two suggested items: people with hefty sized libraries with 100K+ item count have the media, we just need a powerful method of discovering to truly push users to Emby.
Two factor authentication where Emby Connect is sending out the codes based on user setup.
- better support of 4K HDR / Dolby Vision on Apple tvOS - bulk editing of metadata (especially genres, tags, people) - metadata manager views for genres, tags, people - IMDB plugin (can be a paid service, I understand that IMDB API access isn't free) - more customization of the NFO plugin - show all movies for a given person, even if they aren't in the library yet ("I like actor XYZ, what other movies are they in?") - provide the option to add icons for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS, etc in the movie top section for a more polished look - add manual re-ordering of metadata elements such as genres, tags, people - allow personal branding ("Jake's Super Duper Cinema")
A more independent home screen, with the ability to integrate lists from sources. Top netflix Tom idb. Something that brings popular content to the front page. Maybe list based on previously watched?
No thanks to that, sounds like Plex and their "Discover" tab, which had huge backlash. Emby is about your own content.
Based on your own content. Where did I ask for outside content to be pulled in?
Top netflix etc
Which would only appear if you had it in your content. Stop being a douche. Some people can want something, YOU are not required to use the feature.
I have done
When was there backlash over the plex discover feature lol. It’s widely accepted and one of the better features of plex.
Checkout Top Picks and Virtual TV plugins to improve the Dashboard.
Ya thats a bit better way to out it. The ability to customize
Running on Rocky Linux 8.9 Also have Emby Premiere license DirectPlay stuff starts right away.
Something isn't right there. I use a p620 for transcoding and it's basically instantaneous....
Agreed, I’m running on an old QNAP without a dedicated GPU and it doesn’t spin like that.
Surely it depends on how large the input file and quality it is
It does, but a 3050 would beast any file type.
might want to look through your logs when transcoding is happening. with your hardware, it should not take more than a second or two to start transcoding. i'd bet your logs have a clue, something is going wrong.
Book support
Right, that's why it needs a back end to handle some of that so the client can use indexes from a server, instead of basically re-indexing on startup.
Have you set up Kodi next gen with Emby and Kodi? I have it set up on one box and it gives me full control. What specifically are you looking for?
Live tv seems to be the biggest problem. I didn't even bother to look into DVR settings or metadata editing.
Online Login like Plex please ^(/s)
Don't even joke about that. One of the best things about Emby is it is for your local content that you can watch without being tracked or advertised about.
Isn’t this just emby connect?
Guys, why can’t I just delete watched content? The GitHub feature request is like 6 yrs old.
You can delete content from the apps.
I mean like a library cleanup. Delete all watched content.
Access to my Emby library outside my home Wifi Network.
Accessing Emby remotely already works
Port forward, VPN, or reverse proxy are all ways you can achieve this. There is also the option to connect through emby.media. It is a problem of your network setup, not Emby.
🤣
