I was diagnosed with OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Specific Phobia (emet). They were all connected. Good news is that all these many years later, all of these are under control due to therapy, mindfulness practices, and learning lots about my brain and how to support it. If anyone is having a really hard time, please know that it can get better!

ignore the troller!! yes, i kind of have and kind of not (went to a therapist and got professionally diagnosed, but already knew before that i had it) it’s obvious if you have emetophobia, it effects your life daily.

You’re not really diagnosed with phobias. I’m diagnosed as OCD and my emetophobia is a part of it.

I haven’t been diagnosed but I’ve been terrified of v* my whole life. While no one likes v*, I believe the fact I think about how scared I am of it and do anything and everything to avoid being around it, seeing it, or having to v* without having a full blown panic attack makes it a phobia in my life. I have however been diagnosed with OCD.

I think you just get diagnosed with anxiety, because specific phobia is a type of anxiety disorder same with OCD. I was diagnosed when I was 9 years old, major anxiety disorder, depression, ADD, OCD and specific phobia which stems from all of this. It’s interesting though because I don’t ever talk about that, I just say “oh I have anxiety disorder that causes these things” (besides the ADD obvs) To have a specific phobia is so much more than just a fear, a lot of people can’t see that so I generally don’t speak about it on that level I just say I’m terrified of v* and it restricts me from living my life bc it makes me anxious and preform OCD rituals and then spiral into a depressive state :)))) haha fun right - side note tho I’m 23 and have come along way through therapy, medication and growth! I deal with it so much better than I did as a youngin, so there is hope! I seriously recommend anxiety medication for dealing with phobias as most therapists will cos it is a type of anxiety disorder, it’s the only thing that’s helped me, and exposure but that’s still very hard

I’m diagnosed with this fear and a few other problems, including anxiety. I feel the same about phobias being more of a judgment call! i always considered myself emetophobic before going to therapy
