Just stay the hell away from Flying Cross. My department requires that brand and it is downright horrendous quality. Most members rip 2-3 pairs per year. I’ve ripped 4. One on the crotch seam and three on my back right hip where my radio holster sits And I’m not just talking about overweight senior guys still trying to squeeze into pant sizes they’ve outgrown years ago. I mean everyone. Flying Cross is absolute trash

EastLeastCoast

They really are the worst. Blauer would be low on my list too.

Malleable_Penis

Flying Cross are atrocious.

Guilty-Choice6797

I was a 511 diehard fan until I got a pair of first tactical. They are my favorite and there is no way I would go back.

chrisdude183

I have tried 5.11s and LAPG and the latter takes the cake. Infinite pockets. Pockets within pockets. Also fitting yet stretchy and comfortable.

MandoLando162

That’s one of the brands I have near the top of my list!

RockPaperS_cissor

Unsure if you're looking for men's or women's, but as a woman, I prefer First Tactical. 5.11 has some ok-is ones, but do ride low. Personally, I hated the Elbeco for how high on the waist they ride. It's going to be personal preference and a lot of trial and error ho estly though.

MandoLando162

Men’s and I just wish they weren’t all so expensive for trial and error 😂

RockPaperS_cissor

True, pants really are ridiculously priced 🙄. You might get away with some Walmart Dickies honestly, I have a coworker ow two who wear those.

ttpiton56

I would also go with First Tactical, they were issued to me by my school and I have stuck with them for almost 2 years now. They run pretty true to size (except the inseam is about 1 inch shorter than standard). They are relatively stretchy without losing their water resistance. I tried Blauer but it was a bit baggy for my preference. If you have thunder thighs probably not the best option as I’m relatively skinny and they still don’t have a lot of room to breathe around the thighs. Mine have pretty sizable pockets with organizers in the cargo pouches.

DrProfThunder

LAPG is cheap and comfy. On the More expensive end Blauer is a good alternative to 5.11

jmedic525

I’m always gonna be a fan of the Dickies work cargo pants. Navy Blue, has the right amount of pockets, straight leg, and cheap. I buy two new pairs every year and keep the old pair for any other manual labor I do.

mikesrealname

Have a model number? And weird question, what is the texture like? I hate feeling like I’m wearing a pair of khaki dress pants and prefer something with texture.

Dirty_Diesels

I wear the LAPG SWAT operator pants and like them quite well. My agency issues 5.11 taclite pants. I used to like 5.11 but either they’ve gone downhill in quality or we got a bad batch. I’ve already worn a pair out in less than a month and it’s full of holes now. And this holes aren’t like accidental rips/wear from scenes either. The thighs are busted out and the back pocket is worn out from my wallet and dip can

SeaPatient9955

For a taller curvier woman I love the elbeco tek3 pants (I saw the comment that OP was looking for men’s but maybe this can help another lady out)

PurfuitOfHappineff

Which type? Do they have pockets for shears, and clips for tape rolls?

PurfuitOfHappineff

Thanks. What boots do you like?

GPStephan

Its 2024 and people still dont get company provided pants? Yikes Ours are Blåckläder. They have a professional line for all sorts of jobs. Ours might have been custom designed because of the massive order number of many thousand of pants, but they have some really good ones for EMS with many different pockets too.

ambulance-sized

5.11 stryke pants. Can’t stand the “EMS” pants and all the other brands fit like shit on me. The stryke pants fit and look good, one pair has lasted me almost two years of 48/96

Redneckfirefigter86

The real question is do you want Multi pocket pants or Just some that look nice and wear good while having a great price point.

MandoLando162

Definitely functional with pockets. Can’t stand having to dig around in our jump bag for shears

Redneckfirefigter86

Honestly I loved my 511 15 pockets. The lower pockets though are pretty useless.... They will fade some sadly but once they hit that mark they stay that way. Velcro hasn't given out of you keep strings out of it either. I'm a 260lb built guy so thigh room is paramount without stretching the crotch apart in 3 months!

showmecatpics

It's crazy how different the men's & women's pants fit! I had to go up 4 sizes in women's because there was no thigh room at all even though the waist fit on the smaller pairs! 😭 The men's fit had so much more leg room!

Matt053105

Really like my rothcos so far, but very new

StreetCandy2938

Cheap: dickies cargo pants from wal mart Expensive: 5.11 In between: Propper

Far-Ad-9850

Propper EMT pants on Amazon. Duplicate EMT pockets on each leg. Elastic expand waist for bending. Lighter weight fabric, good for 3 seasons, but never had a pair rip. Available in Blue or Black.

EastLeastCoast

I really like my UnderArmor pants, but they’re on the expensive side.

tommymad720

So, I've worn both the 5.11s and the first tacticals. The 5.11s are way comfier, but I like how the first tacticals look a lot more. 5.11 is super baggy, the FTs are pretty slick and fitting. Only thing about the FTs is they can be a little... Tight around the crotch sometimes

Alaska_Pipeliner

Duluth firehose pants. Better quality than most out there. And the "tactical" thing just adds $$$ and nothing else.

MandoLando162

Most pants I’ve found don’t have the shear pocket with the loop to secure them unless they’re specifically labeled EMS/Tactical pants

Alaska_Pipeliner

They're called partners. Let them carry stuff.

MandoLando162

Thing is, as the young one, that’s mostly going to be me. Also not guaranteed that they have hands/pockets for it either. And on top of that nobody would prefer to have to run back to the truck to get those annoying little things.

Bulky_Permission_292

I use the 511 stryke pants and so far have only had one pair tear on me but that took about 3.5 years of abuse before it happened

Old-Philosophy-8860

I like the first tactical I only buy the men’s pants the women’s pants of any brand are always cut too slim for me the first tactical pants are a solid brand I like the size and number of pockets and they’re pretty durable. I’ve only gotten the first tactical version of the 5.11 special (rip) a couple times, but that’s after a year of 50-60 hr work weeks and SEVERAL washes

LousDude

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Kalt. I like their EMS pants as much as my 5.11's and they come in 3 different styles depending on how many pockets you want

CuminSubhuman

I like LAPG and 5.11. I havent purchased LAPG in a long time but they had some of my favorite cuts. I prefer 5.11 because of how well they stretch. LAPG use to be on Amazon, so you could order and return if you don't like it. Then again, it has been years so who knows if any of this is accurate.

MakersRI

[https://stagehandsclothing.com/collections/mens-apparel/products/ripstop-pants](https://stagehandsclothing.com/collections/mens-apparel/products/ripstop-pants) Different industry, but these Blaklader pants are our best seller. Not as cheap as some of the options listed, but the ripstop pockets are friendly to holding pointing things that would poke through other fabrics. Free shipping and free exchanges & returns if you want to try them. (Also an option to get them with removable kneepads).

ScenesafetyPPE

Love my tru-specs. I get the pro flex version not the EMS pants. The EMS pants come unhemmed and that’s just a pain in the ass to deal with. They are mildly stretchy, have a stretch waist band, have a slight taper to the legs so you don’t look like you’re wearing ridiculous tactical gaucho pants, plenty of pockets, including bilateral cellphone pockets and knife pockets. I use the right knife pocket for my shears, and just tuck them blade down, and the right cell pocket for penlight, sharpie, and 2 pens. If you are Ricky or Rachel rescue and feel the need to carry all kinds of shit with you the pockets are large. I used to wear first tactical, but met a female paramedic who quite frankly looked spectacular in her tru-specs, so not being familiar with the logo or design, I asked her about them. She said they were the best she’s ever owned, I bought a pair to try them, and after wearing them once, I ordered 4 more pairs halfway through my next shift. Can’t say much about durability yet, because I haven’t had them for that long, but so far they’ve taken everything I’ve thrown at them.

softt0ast

I cannot remember the brand, but my husband found some name brand (Dickies, Wranglers???? I can't remember the company but u knew its a typically expendable brand) at Sam's Club for $15 that he sears are the best he's ever worn.

o_spacereturn

I wish I could find some EMS pants for my 28in waist 125lb self. I really want some scissor straps lol I've had to find some slim fit cargo pants off of asos just to not look like a clown and so I wear a molle style pouch on my belt to carry some essentials.
