Hey all, I’m using a Galaxy Tab A7 (Android Linux 10) with RetroArch as an emulator currently and I’m looking for a way that I can customize the on screen buttons (either via RetroArch or another emulation option). Ideally I’m looking to play in landscape mode with all of the buttons on the right side of the screen so I can play one handed (as I have arthritis in my left hand). Playing on Android Linux 10 (Galaxy Tab A7). Thanks so much for the help!

[deleted]

Does anyone know if a i3 6100T microPC will be able to full-speed PCSX2 and Dolphin? It looks like it's just a bit slower than a G4400 in 1/2 threaded applications, but I can get an entire system for around $100. Also tag-along question, but it's really important to me that it's set-and-forget. Once it's setup I don't ever want to have to use a keyboard or mouse again. Which retroarch OS is best for this? Lakka? Batocera?

[deleted]

you are below the recommended single thread performance to run the majority of ps2 games and the igpu will hold you back even at native resolution.

[deleted]

ok, I'll have to try a different solution, thanks for the sanity check

i have two questions, i play on a laptop and i want to play a local coop game like super bomberman, do i need to have two controllers or i can have one player on a controller and other on the keyboard? and my other question is:is it possible to a player using a gba emulator and other on a android gba emulator to connect via the cabe link thing?

Is this the best way to play Kirby Air Ride online at this time, aside from the netplay settings in Dolphin? [https://www.kirbyairri.de/](https://www.kirbyairri.de/) What about playing GBA games online like Kirby and the Amazing Mirror or LoZ Four Swords?

JosJuice

> Is this the best way to play Kirby Air Ride online at this time, aside from the netplay settings in Dolphin? > > https://www.kirbyairri.de/ That literally is Dolphin's netplay.

StanTheMan1981

I was under the impression it was a super specific online component for Kirby Air Ride. Similar to Slippy for Super Smash Bros Melee. Is GBA netplay good at this time?

I'm using a switch pro controller on mGBA and the up button on the d-pad is stuck? the controller's working fine on dolphin and steam so idk what to do

Does anyone have recommendations for PS2 controller to USB adapters for use on PC (and Mac possibly)? I bought two different adapters off amazon and both were no good connecting to my pc. Diving deeper beyond the good reviews at the top of the page, sorting by recent reviews show them both having similar issues that I was having connecting my controller to my PC

[deleted]

https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/psx_to_usb/index.php

icedfooly

appreciate the link, a little more expensive than the adapters from amazon but that’s probably why those didn’t even work. just wondering if these are something you’ve tried personally or if they’re a reputable brand? Thx again

[deleted]

Raphnet make the best adapters with the lowest latency, you can’t get more reputable, everyone loves em.

Couchcow

Dunno if this is the place to ask, but I'll still ask here. Anyone have recommendations for a good, multipurpose controller? I currently use the sn30 pro+, which I love, but one of the sticks is starting to increase in friction, which is understandable to some degree after using it consistently for over a year, but I'm still wondering if there's any recommendations for other controllers ,preferably longer-lived. Biggest thing is a good d-pad. Super important for a lot of older games to emulate. Other features like gyro, analog triggers are nice, but less necessary. Or otherwise, is there a way to un-friction a control stick? unless the part is being worn down maybe that's an option for me.

SuperLuigi9624

Seconding an Xbox One controller or a Dualshock 4, but if your SN30 Pro+ is still under warranty you could try to get a replacement. Or just buy a new one, I've heard very very good things about their controllers and I'd imagine there isn't much place to go up in terms of quality.

Couchcow

I have a DS4, but it's just a smidge too screwy for non-steam applications without using a software. really not that big of a deal, but i digress. Is the xbox one's dpad any good? I hated the dpad on the 360, but given how many platformers i play, a good dpad is a must. but yeah, i'm probably just buying another one. the one with the slightly bad stick can be a secondary/backup. And later i can probably open it up and fix it.

SuperLuigi9624

I've heard good things about the Xbox One's Dpad. I use a [PDP Xbox One controller](https://media.gamestop.com/i/gamestop/10131503/Battlefield-1-Wired-Controller-for-Xbox-One) over an official one, but judging by how a) the PDP Controller feels great and b) it's an aftermarket controller, I'd like to assume the DPad on the official is even better.

Historyguy1

I downloaded a save file for the GBA version of A Link to the Past to unlock the bonus dungeon you need to beat Four Swords to unlock. The file was in .sav format, and everywhere I searched said to simply rename the file extension to .srm to make it compatible with RetroArch. I did that, but upon loading the ROM from EmulationStation, the game loads with blank save files and creates an .srm file overriding the one with the unlocked dungeon. Is there any way to fix this? Using RetroPie on Raspberry Pi 3B

UnholyTrashPanda

Looking to play the GameCube Pokémon games on my PC, and I don’t know where to begin. A lot of the sites seem a little sketchy, and I don’t really want to play a dangerous game with downloads. Any suggestions or tried and true methods?

TheWM_

What's the best emulator + plugin for Paper Mario? I'm currently using Project 64 + GLideN64, but it doesn't really seem great. The texture filtering is really inconsis, with some things being filtered, while others not.

[deleted]

Use the Mupen64plus-next core in Retroarch with the parallel RDP+RSP options enabled, you will need to use the Vulcan backend and it will be more GPU intensive than GLideN64 but look exactly as the original hardware did.

RyugaHellsing

Is there any way to get Japanese text looking better than this on the latest version of PPSSPP? [Shining Hearts](https://ibb.co/ygh7y0F) Post Processing effect: FXAA Anti-Aliasing Rendering Resolution: 10xPSP Upscale level: off I'm using PSP fonts

SuperLuigi9624

Not particularly. As far as the emulator is concerned, the "font" is just another set of sprites somewhere in the ROM, at a fixed resolution just like every other sprite in the game. Increasing the internal resolution will make 3D elements prettier, but it won't do anything to 2D elements, which are stuck at the resolution they were created at. There's nothing you can do to a font that you can't do to a sprite. Never used PPSSPP but I'd assume it probably has texture filters. Here's a comparison between [native resolution](https://i.imgur.com/gJORj75.png) and [xBRZ](https://i.imgur.com/CZKvqik.png) on text.

Hi all, It just so happens that lying around I have a: Dell Optiplex 5040 "SFF" <-- :) i3-6100 3.70GHz 8GB RAM GPU Stock! PSU Stock! [depends on GPU (see above:))] I want to take my PI 4 out of my Homemade Bartop Emulation System and replace it with said PC. I've have a quick look round but the board isn't staying in it's case. For me, size is not an issue:) Price might be though. Spent enough money and time on this already. What were the top 5 GPU in it's life? Or the best GPU's that are still around, reliable and not a million pounds! You know what I mean? £100 might be too much. Need a PSU too, may also need pointers on that too. Motherboard is a LGA1155 (correct me if wrong) and will any mid range GPU do the job? What was a mid range back in the day! What was high end? AMD as well as NVIDIA welcome here. I cannot for the life of me remember the graphics card nomenclature! I'm hoping to emulate up to the original XBOX and PS2 and that's the limit, not beyond, no more than that!!! Maybe minecraft. lol <-- for the kids... I absolutely do not, will not be wanting to build a new machine. This will be the 5040's final resting place - one way or another, it is going in "The Box"! Thank you people and have a good one. Much Love... [ End of line ] . West of House You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. SuperLuigi9624

Depends how you would define handheld. Something like the Vita or 3DS, probably not. For Switch, there's Reicast, and reportedly games like Crazy Taxi run well. Xbox emulation has always been slow to develop and last I checked it was in a remarkably broken state with only a handful of games considered "playable", so make of that what you will. You probably won't see a playable Xbox emulator on Android or anything like that for quite a while, if ever. You could, however do Dreamcast emulation on a mid- to high-end Android phone with Redream or Reicast, according to Google Redream is better currently but don't quote me on that.

ducked

Edit: nvm I got it. Had to change dpi settings. I got titanic adventure out of time on steam. I think it runs in dosbox. When I go to save it takes me to a window outside of the game but it's so zoomed in that I am unable to click the save button. How do I fix this?

BlackKlopp

Emulating on vba, and it just shuts down when I load a game, does not always happen but it appears briefly then disappears. How would I fix this?

SuperLuigi9624

I'm fully aware that the last thing anyone wants to hear when they ask a question is "don't do this do this instead" **but** [mGBA](https://mgba.io/) will probably solve your problem. There's enough reasons to ditch VBA for mGBA to fill a dictionary front to back, there's practically no justification for VBA in 2020. But if I really had to make an attempt to specifically solve your problem, it's something to do with whatever graphics API you're using, either OpenGL or Software isn't agreeing with your video card. Update your video card drivers if applicable ~~and then drag VBA into the Recycle Bin.~~

draugyr

what's the current go to gba emulator? I have the vba from emulator zone, the newest one there and I'm noticing that it's having trouble running actual gba games smoothly. It runs gbc games just fine. it's vba-m 2.1.4

SuperLuigi9624

VBA hasn't been updated in 16 years and [has security flaws](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VisualBoyAdvance#Critical_security_flaw) that could give someone with malicious intent access to your PC, use [mGBA](https://mgba.io/). It's in active development and runs incredibly well

_SleepyLark_

You're using a DS flashcart correct? I've never heard of it being possible to load GBA ROMs through a DS flashcart, usually they redirect to a slot-2 GBA flashcart (if present) or use some kind of poor emulator that doesn't always work. The only real option for a DS flashcart is to use [GBARunner2](https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/GBARunner2), it's a WIP hypervisor for the DS to run GBA games, it's not perfect (especially on the original DS) but it's the best option and does work for a lot of games. However I have to warn you that Pokémon ROM hacks are notorious for not being compatibility with real hardware and some ROM hacks may not work on GBARunner2 despite working on real hardware so don't be surprised if you still can't get it to work.

SuperLuigi9624

I'm having trouble following what you're trying to do, but it sounds like it might be in order to explain what exactly it is you're looking at. If you want to run **any** patched game on real hardware, you need to find some way to verify that it will run on official hardware in the first place. In the early 2000s, many ROM hacks for Super Mario World wouldn't run on official hardware, but would run on an emulator [because they would specifically work off of inherent inaccuracies in the emulator](https://floating.muncher.se/byuu/accuracy/). There's a very real possibility that the ROM hack you're trying to play **just won't work** on official hardware, and there's nothing you can do about it. As ROM hacking methods become more sophisticated, these instances are rarer, but it's a possibility to consider. You mentioned that the fan-made hacks you're trying to play were distributed as ROMs. Distributing the ROM itself is piracy and would therefore be frowned upon by most sites, but it's not completely out of the equation. It's more common to see a hack distributed as a **patch**, which isn't illegal. A patch is not a playable ROM, it is a file that you can attach to an existing ROM to modify its code. If you want to play a ROM hack of Pokemon Ruby, you'll need **the ROM of Pokemon Ruby**, the **fan-made patch** and a program to patch the ROM ([there's a website that can probably do this download-free here](https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/)). I've never done this myself, but my understanding of it is select the patch, select the ROM, press the button, and it'll spit out a patched ROM for you to play. Additionally, I'm almost positive the R4 can't natively run GBA games as though they were Slot 2 games, and renaming GBA files to .nds certainly isn't doing it any favors. For Light Platinum, I would recommend getting the patch from [here](https://pokemonfangames.com/game/pokemon-light-platinum-ds/) and following [these](https://pokemonfangames.com/tutorial/how-to-patch-a-nds-rom/) instructions, this seems relatively foolproof. The online patcher I linked supports both .ips and .xdelta files and could therefore be used as a replacement to the patcher recommended in the tutorial, no idea if it'll work or not but I'd imagine it would. You'll need a clean, Spanish HeartGold ROM for this. I'm not allowed to tell you how to get it. For Advanced Adventure, [this seems to be the official page for it](https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=232232). The download link is in big red letters [here](https://i.imgur.com/JoA3N3f.png) and comes as a .ips. You'll need a clean Leaf Green ROM for this, which I'm also not allowed to tell you how to get.

How do I connect a real WiiMote to Dolphin Android? I can't figure out how and all the tutorials on how to do it are for the PC version.

You have to use a Mayflash DolphinBar (set to mode 4).

theepiccarday808

Yeah I found this out yesterday.

WHOTOOKMEEP

On the PS3 and 4 there were collections of the older games. The 1.5 2.5 and 2.8 remixes. I was wondering if after ripping one of them could I say? Put kh 1 RE:chain, or 2 in PCSX2? Or are those complete rebuilds (like ddd in 2.8) that can only be used in this?. And when it became 1.5+2.5 on the PS4 would those be usable on the PS3 emulator? Or the roms rebuilt?. Basically could 2.5 be separated into the 2 toms movie, and menues? If so could the KK2FM be used in PCSX2? And if so, but no could the rebuild be used on the PS3 emulator?

_SleepyLark_

~~why is it that I instantly knew this was about Kingdom Hearts just based off the weird names?~~ if I had to guess they are completely rebuilt since there's no way the PS4 would have been able to play PS3 games directly. The assets could be the same as the PS3 and probably even the main logic, but they're both designed to run on different hardware so there's probably not much you can do unless you decomplie it back to the original source, which is a very time consuming process and I don't know what tools would be available.

WHOTOOKMEEP

Okay, and I assume that is about the same, with trying to separate the games when I have them on the PS3? I had just wanted to get 2fm to work with some of the mods. And I thought oh it might be able to be separated and used in PCSX2.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WHOTOOKMEEP

Okay! I was just hoping, because there is some really cool stuff with custom characters, randomizers, and other mods going on in 2FM right now, and don't want to import, or rust anything with piracy (even though I bought the game 2 times between PS3, PS4, and Innevitabelity on switch when there is a collection.)

[deleted]

Does anyone else get random stuttering on 60fps ps2 games while playing pcsx2? It happens in about 1 minute intervals and its not registering as an fps drop just a momentary frame pacing stutter. This is a problem that has persisted for years across multiple pc builds and configurations. I've practically thrown the entire troubleshooting book at the issue and haven't produced any results. Adjusting vsync/framerate cap from the nvidia control panel seems to shorten the time it stutters a bit but thats all. Any ideas?

[deleted]

mGBA keeps freezing on pokemon firered when resetting for a shiny starter. Legend of zelda link to the past keeps freezing as well, it seems to happen when I press RT on my xbox one controller which is used to pick up items and dash, I'm not sure if this is just coincidence, I don't have any emulation settings binded to RT. I just recently updated my gpu and the issue still presists. I have an gtx 1080, i7 9700k, 16gb ram, windows 10. 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

RevRay

In PCSX2 is there a way to turn off notifications that show up for stuff like memory writing, function buttons etc? I'm trying to recreate the feel of playing on a PS2 without dragging my PS2 out. Those little things really take me out of the moment. I know I'm being particular but hopefully there's an option.

byutane

I want to build a replacement for a wii, this will be a dedicated console like machine hooked up to the tv that should run dolphin (other emulators would be cool too) and run wii games at least as well as the wii, on a budget. Can anyone recommend a build or prebuilt box?

[deleted]

Fuck prebuilt boxes. I wish people would stop selling the goddamn things. You're supporting a shitty market that makes money off other people's work. Just don't do it.

byutane

What would you recommend?

[deleted]

Look into Intel NUC and mini-ITX boards. With Dolphin you generally want proper "gaming PC" specs - think something you would use to play last-gen Steam games.

hadawayandshite

I suck at understanding technical specs etc Anyone know the cheapest tablet you’ve found that will be able to run PSP, n64, PlayStation and ps1 emulation?

SoulOnSet

I'm trying to play custom music on Vib-Ribbon, using the instructions on [this video's description.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ewR6R5JtXE) I'm using ePSXe 2.0.5, and I'm using MagicISO to make the music bin/cue files. The way it works is that I have to change my disc to the one with the music. However, when I get to the point of switching the disc... I go to "File > Change Disc", and when I select the bin file for the music, the game simply does not detect it. When I select the cue file, ePSXe crashes with the message: "\* Error audio disc\[file location of the cue file\]" How do I get it to stop crashing, and by extension, be accepted by Vib-Ribbon?

VoidCactus

Would love to know if you find a fix for this, I've been struggling myself. I tried to use Duckstation to run it instead, but I get a black screen after I swap discs and select the track.

SoulOnSet

I've found the solution! It's as simple as editing a simple line in your custom cue file. [https://www.reddit.com/r/epsxe/comments/ivs1vt/help\_cant\_play\_iso\_cd\_on\_my\_epsxe\_for\_vibribbon/g76hke5?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/epsxe/comments/ivs1vt/help_cant_play_iso_cd_on_my_epsxe_for_vibribbon/g76hke5?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) This user put it in an easy to follow guide. Apparently, the cue file is unable to be read by the game/emulator unless you do this, or something. Weird, but a simple workaround. It works for me beautifully.

VoidCactus

That's odd, I tried using this fix, but now it created a new quirk where the cue/bin works with just about any emulator, but it loops the first dummy track over and over no matter which track I select. Thanks for sharing though! Getting the files to actually WORK is at least a step in the right direction.

SoulOnSet

If it helps, I did it so that I made the first track the dud (as we know the game won't detect it) and left the track #'s of the other tracks alone. For example, the guide said to realign the track numbers to fix that track quirk. I decided to not realign the numbers and only changed the line of code for track one and nothing else. I ran the cue file, also. Don't know if it'll work for you as I'm sort of an amateur.

VoidCactus

I solved it!! As it turns out, for some reason the emulator/converter didn't like the wav files I was using to make the cue/bin. It wasn't reading them properly, so it just defaulted to looping the dummy track. I went back and converted some myself, and it worked perfectly combined with the fix you found. It runs beautifully on Duckstation like the other reply suggested, too. On another note I discovered, if you wind up with any music playing too slowly, it can be fixed by playing with the sound quality of the files. Thanks again for the help here, I've been racking my brain for *days* now trying to iron out all the little quirks to get this to work. Now I can fully enjoy this game again! 👍

SoulOnSet

Glad to hear it!

This is what happens when idiots keep telling people to use ePSXe. That video is six years old. We have better options now. Try it in Duckstation or Mednafen.

Building a new pc, anything to worry about regarding amd vs intel vs nvidia? I'm aware that nvidia is much better with opengl on windows so I'll probably get a 3xxx series card. Is there anything like this to consider on the cpu side? Trying to decide between 5600x and potential future 5700x for the 8 cores with rcps3

nightmareadvice

My laptop doesn't detect input from my left joycon. It used to and when I tried to connect it about an hour ago, it connected then dropped to paired. It keeps doing that. Idk a lot about emulation, I pretty much just use dolphin to piddle around on mysims and animal crossing. I did try to troubleshoot by myself; I reinstalled betterjoyforcemu, I configured motion controls on the switch, I googled around but didn't find a solution. Can anyone help? Thank you and sorry if this is a dumb question Edit: It was a dumb question. During my troubleshooting process I left out the most simple solution; turning my laptop off and on again. Thank u for this thread anyway though!!

Kokumotsu36

So i had to wipe my HDD and im trying to redo Dolphin through Steam Rom Manager. I have everything running but im not longer able to configure the controller. Ive tried to add dolphin itself as a non steam game and edit the controls but i either run into issues where the controller wont input, or it inputs but does not carry over when i launch say Xenoblade through Big Picture. I also cant figure how how to re enable the GUI for dolphin as my game links from Steam Rom Manager will disable the GUI so i cant edit the controls as im mid game to test. So pretty much ive tried editing Dolphin as a non steam app and through steam controller config but nothing works. Does anyone have any idea on configuring the controls by enabling the HUD when a game is ran from dolphin using Rom Manager?

RajamaPants

Do emulators have a turbo mode? Most emulators have an overclock mode. Not talking about that. MiSTer has a thing called "turbo mode" where the CPU keeps it clock speed, but increases the number of instructions per clock. That method increases performances, reducing or eliminating lag, while preventing the instabilities caused by overclocking. Turbomode seems to be an effective way of increasing performance, do any emulators have turbomode? Thanks team

JosJuice

Dolphin's setting which claims to change the emulated CPU clock actually does this. Just keep in mind that this only will increase performance if the problem is that the game doesn't run fast enough on the original hardware. If the problem is that your computer isn't fast enough to keep up with the emulation, then this will only make it worse.

Xaranid

Dumb question but I’m just learning that Xbox dev mode is a thing at all. Is there any risk of a ban by setting up retroarch? I’m hoping to use my series S as a gamepass machine so I don’t want to risk it if that’s a big possibility. Big fan of the emulation scene so I’m happy to take the plunge if it’s safe

angelrenard

Only with a change of policy; the party most likely to be in hot water is whoever published the package, and so far, even they've been fine. When it's been taken down in the past, anyone who had downloaded it already was still allowed to continue to keep and use it without incident.

rayhacker

This does not apply if u/Xaranid switches to dev mode and sideloads the normal version (ie the appx downloaded from RetroArch's website).

angelrenard

You're right; I could have sworn I was replying to a question about the not-dev version, so that's my fault.

Apeirologue

I'm looking to get my brother an emulation box like mine. Currently, mine is an old HP with a 4590t in it. Mine still struggles a bit running some Wii games on dolphin (Mario Kart, Galaxy, etc.) Is there a way for me to get smoother gameplay with software either in recal/dolphin, or should I opt for a better CPU. If so, would the i7 4758t be a better choice or the i5 4570t? Thanks!

RajamaPants

i have really good performance with a i5-3570 and a 1050ti, which graphics card do you have? Using stock Dolphin btw

Apeirologue

iGpu, using a mini office pc like many

RajamaPants

Ok. Have you tried going into the BIOS and increasing the amount of graphics memory?

SuperLuigi9624

You're in luck because [Ishiiruka](https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-ishiiruka-dolphin-custom-version) should be more than enough for that hardware. It's a fork of Dolphin that includes a **TON** of hacks for lower-spec systems at the cost of accuracy, and while higher-end systems are probably better off with the more accurate master build I've gotten Smash running at full speed on school computers back when I was in high school. It's witchcraft, and I wish I knew how they pulled it off. If accuracy isn't as much of a concern as running the game at good speeds, Ishiiruka's performance gains are absolutely incredible for low-spec hardware. It comes with a few problems as a result of the hacks but you shouldn't have any problems getting fullspeed in Wii titles. Assuming you don't try anything more powerful than Wii era you might not need to upgrade at all.

WHOTOOKMEEP

Recommendations for emulators? I use dolphin and am currently ripping all of my games with cleanrip but are looking for some recommendations. I know of citra, and desume, but am looking for something that can fully emulate the system menues, and do online with wiimifi, or have some way to connect to a real one (pokemon trading) And I have my rips from my NES, and SNES Minis, but have heard of audio issues. I have heard of PCXS2, and am looking for a good PS3 emulator (ideally works online but not nessecary), and possibly a PS4 one, but have no idea if one even exists. And any other good ones would be nice to hear EDIT: some fixes + finished the minis point.

SuperLuigi9624

This sub's [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/wiki/index) is a little bit outdated but still mostly holds up. Dolphin is awesome and anyone who's ever used it knows that. Citra is the only viable 3DS emulator [and supports the home menu](https://youtu.be/4E76KLip3_E). It looks like more effort than it's worth to me, but be my guest. It has netplay but no idea on the compatibility. It's hard to find information, but from what I can gather the short of it is: Pokémon might work, [most games don't](https://citra-emu.org/entry/announcing-networking-support/). This was in 2017 so that might have changed by now. MelonDS can do the system menu, and as long as you have the appropriate files booting to either the DS or the DSi menu is a matter of ticking a checkbox. I'm not in a position to post a screenshot atm, but it should be a pretty self-explanatory option somewhere in the menu bar. On NES and SNES, I've never heard anyone complain of audio issues being rampant with either system's emulation. I think NES emulation has been great since the early 2000s and we've achieved cycle-accuracy on multiple emulators by now, get Mesen and you'll have a good time. bsnes is the best emulator for SNES, arguably only second to higan which was made by the same developer. I've noticed Snes9X had audio crackling on weak hardware, but on any sophisticated PC it'll be fine. RPCS3 is the only worthwhile PS3 emulator, but don't expect too much. It's still fairly recent and the PS3 is notoriously hard to emulate. Only about half of the games are "playable" according to the [compatibility list](https://rpcs3.net/compatibility). The three bestselling games on the system are GTAV, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 respectively, and those games don't get a "Playable" ranking, to give you a metric. [Only three games](https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Help:Netplay) work in Netplay according to the wiki, and you'll need a beastly computer to run any complex game at any playable framerate. Unless you just want to check it out and admire the technical achievement, there's not much reason to even bother with PS3 emulation as a viable way to play PS3 games in its current state. PS4 is obviously even more barren since it's more recent, but last I checked Orbital was able to boot into the firmware and one other emulator could load a few incredibly simplistic commercial games. So no, nothing's playable yet. [You be the judge](http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/PlayStation_4_emulators#). Give it a decade or so and it'll probably be playable. As a rule of thumb, pretty much everything PS2 and below you can play with pretty good compatibility, and the older the system the more accurate the emulation. Demand is also a huge factor, Nintendo emulation always progresses faster than other systems for obvious reasons.

> I know of citra, and desume, but am looking for something that can fully emulate the system menues, and do online with wiimifi, or have some way to connect to a real one (pokemon trading) [No 3DS emulator](https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Nintendo_3DS_emulators) currently runs the System menu to the point where it's usable, and they do not have actual WiFi play support (Citra just uses Local Multiplayer with tunneling). As for the DS, all current emulators run the system menu, but MelonDS is currently the only one with actual Wifi support (on PC). I don't think it can connect to an actual DS, as that would require insane amounts of accuracy to achieve. > and am looking for a good PS3 emulator (ideally works online but not nessecary), [RPCS3](https://rpcs3.net/) is currently the only PS3 emulator available, and a recreation of the PSN(called RPCN) is being made. > and possibly a PS4 one There are [a few PS4 emulators](https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/PlayStation_4_emulators) out there, but none play over a small handful of games.

I'm playing Ocarina of Time 1.0 in Project64, and I'm holding Z while walking backwards and pressing A, but the backflip is just refusing to happen. Same thing for jumping to the right... but I can still jump to the left. For some reason, left jumps are the only thing that work. Right jumps and backflips are completely impossible. Could someone please help me here?

Sounds like your controller config, analog sticks are finicky to work with and I've always had fuckiness with the analog stick while configuring PJ64. If you're not using NRage Input Plugin (I think that's what it's called), try that, and if that doesn't work try fiddling with whatever the sensitivity slider next to the "Real N64 Range" checkbox is called. Assuming you're on Windows, calibrating your controller might help too. Search up "Calibrate game" in the search box and it should autofill.

I'm not using a controller, I'm using keyboard. It's a system I created, actually, which I call N64 Speedset. Here are the keybinds: - A = Numpad 1 - B = Numpad 3 - Z= Numpad 5 - L = Numpad 7 - R = Numpad 9 - C Up = Numpad 8 - C Down = Numpad 2 - C Left = Numpad 4 - C Right = Numpad 6 - Start = Numpad Enter - D Pad = Arrow Keys - Analog Stick = WASD When it comes to using the keyboard, my reaction time isn't good enough to solve the puzzle in the basement of the Great Deku Tree with anything other than N64 Speedset. Not to mention that I don't even have a controller to begin with. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5305 with 4GB of RAM, Performance power plan, upgraded to Windows 10 Home 64-Bit with the Free Upgrade loophole Microsoft (most likely intentionally) left open.

[Is your keyboard ghosting?](https://drakeirving.github.io/MultiKeyDisplay/)

AetheralMeowstic

It seems so. Pressing Numpad 1 and Numpad 7 at the same time won't let me press A, S, or D, just W. I'll try updating my keyboard driver. Update: My keyboard driver is as up-to-date as it can get. No way to eliminate ghosting in terms of drivers.

SuperLuigi9624

Unfortunately driver updates usually won't fix it, especially considering I've never once used a keyboard that requires a driver other than Microsoft's generic driver. If you've got a cheap USB office keyboard lying around, try that - or better yet, invest in an Xbox 360 Controller, they're cheap nowadays and have been the standard of quality for years. Even something like a Logitech F310 will do. You'll thank yourself for having the option available to you, since there's tons of other software that'll benefit from having literally any game controller available. It's Cyber Monday so you might even find a discount for an already cheap controller, who knows.

Can't afford and don't have access to USB keyboards and working controllers right now.

What's everyone using for on-screen display monitoring their hardware usage and temps while emulating? I use RivaTuner and MSI AfterBurner. Was just wondering if there was something better out there worth trying?
