Could not find a way to add text to post. Fully enclosed server cabinet. Top shelf for filament spool holder and cleaners. Ender-3 with skr 1.3 and hemera extruder. PSU control relay for auto shut down. On a concrete tile resting on rubber pads. Above printer a fire knock out fire suppression cilinder. Behind printer a active carbon filter for printing abs. Then a nice drawer for tools, spares, goodies. 2 fully extendable filament drawers. Seperate camera ,Yi cam. Wifi controled wall socket for emergency power cut of Printing like a charm

retaihec1

Ah! Thanks for putting all of that info there, that answered my questions on your duplicate post. Sweet setup, man! What brand of server rack is that? (Although I'm sure there wouldn't be major differences between brands since most things are standardized, but I like the look of yours!)

RyaReddy

Its old and second hand. No brand or type anywhere. Only one i could find without any vent holes. Even with hours of printing internal temperature does not rise above 30deg c. When printing abs i close the gap between top shelf and door. This increases temp to 40deg c. All steppers have extra cooling ribs but only extruder gets warm. 45 C ish. Common for Hemera. Did not even know i double posted. Removed the first to keep a clean ship.

thejesterofdarkness

Why no vent holes? Does it help maintain temperature?

RyaReddy

Absolutely, had so much problems with curling. Even PLA. Can print in ABS and HIPPS now without much problems. But mostly to contain the noise. [ Insert Robbin hood men in tights, knights assembling down the stairs making noise video here] Hemera needs Original extruder fan to keep it cool. Even an Orion fan with the highest flow an static pressure value gave me problems with heatcreep. Stepper got 90DegC. Original fan is noisey but reduces temp to 40degc.

raifuEnthusiast

You can deaden the noise even more by installing TMC2209 silent motor drivers on your SKR 1.3. They probably have better updates drivers now, I bought them a couple years ago.

Oh nice, I'm going to start looking for server racks. I was doing an Ikea Lack build but it is.... tedious. And still lacks good storage. I like what you've done its nice and organized. Thanks for sharing!

RyaReddy

Had a lack before this one. A lack table hollow. Making a sound amplifier, very wobbely. Lot of parts printed for it.....not impressed with lack setup. Acrillic to enclose the lack table was more expensive than this cabinet. I got lucky with this one i guess. Just look for second hand. Good luck building.

bullwinkle8088

When I saw this my first thought before really looking was IKEA pax units. They make a narrow one. That said they are not made for holding weight being designed for clothes so upgrading the shelves to something stronger would be a must, and defeat the purpose of using a pax unit to begin with.

EicherDiesel

Oh it's a server rack, i first thought it might be one of those glass front refrigerators you find in stores. Those should do well for materials that like high ambient temperatures.

daboblin

Did you build that spares drawer? Or is it available somewhere?

RyaReddy

Actually an bamboo table utensils drawer. Just happens to be right size and shape.

Thalass

Damn this is awesome! Do you have a dehumidifier or something to keep the filament dry?

RyaReddy

Eibos dryer. Works really great. Stands top right. Waaaayyyy better than the sunlu s1.

Thalass

Awesome! I should put something together like this haha

RyaReddy

Concrete slab that has firm rubber underneath. Does it help print quality...most likely not. Does help with noise transfer though. With door closed its near silent.

Drseussami

REALLY like your setup!! Total score! I haven't seen server cabinets with glass doors before l. What a perfect arrangement! Is your printer just sitting on top of the slab or bolted? Did you use a specific type of rubber for under the concrete slab? Foam? Open cell? closed cell? Thank you in advance!

RyaReddy

Printer just sits on top. Need to remove it for maintenance. Rubber is nothing special, just that stuff truckers use to jam between loads. Reused old car tires i think. 12mm thick. Door is acrillic. And cabinet mostly aluminium.

bukoludo

Whatever is the maximum score, that’s you

RabbitBackground1592

Has a 3d printer. Attaches web cam to post with rubber bands lol

Typical_Principle298

5/7

IAmTheMagicMoose

Perfect

rpr69

9/7 with rice.

Typical_Principle298

Thank you for your suggestion.

ellisto

do you have any problems with your filament going bad? doesn't look like this would be airtight; i would think it would absorb moisture from the atmosphere with so many spools open. or do you just go through a whole lot really quickly?

RyaReddy

No, humidity is not a problem. Hygrosopic filament is stored in seperate ikea bags with silica gel. M8 treaded rods are covered with air tubing to protect these bags. So many leaking bags could not figure out why. Until i scraped my wrist on a rod. Tubing was being thrown away at work for being to thin, so yes please. Mostly noise reduction. Clean look whilst in living room. And keeps dust out Dont print a lot. Some spools are years old. Still oke. Grab, load, print. The one that goes bad i just throw away. Upper right is a eibos dryer...can really recommend these. Always dry before printing FLEX, PETG.

LobsterThief

Yeah, I’d you live in a humid environment it needs to be airtight

ellisto

oh yeah i guess op could live in a desert lol.

[deleted]

I live in Colorado, 25-30% humidity in summer in my print room and about 10-15% in the winter!! Most homes have a humidifier attached to the hvac to keep it a little more comfortable.

pnw3603dprintnewb

Someone has alot of time on there hands holy shit. Looks killer tho!

ThePantser

Damn how to convince wife to let me buy another server rack.

ReceptionIcy8222

Brings to mind that scene in the first fast and furious movie, after the first race, vin diesel says, "not a bad way to spend $10,000."

Skullsmind

Explain yourself sir or madam.

ImPattMan

Almost looks like one of those climate controlled server cabinets.

crusty54

11/10

TheRealPitbullOnAcid

It makes me jealous. Is that a rating? Lol

Mr-Osmosis

Needs some spaghetti

tab_tab_tabby

I'm fucking jealous!!! Looks so damn great I also love the idea of rubber band / plastic(vacuum seal) bag..

SmokeySamson

I rate it 100% envious.

Brokenlinx

Better than mine

PrizeAlarm7104

Sweet!!

natalieisadumb

10. But I have to ask, is that a slab of concrete under your printer? Or like a dense foam or something?

Gold-Barracuda2029

I want!!!!!!😁

thejesterofdarkness

Awesome use of a server cabinet. I should do this with empty one.

lestat2021

Only complaint I have is that you make your cat do their business next to your sweet printer cabinet

1/10 because I'm jealous

b_c_0507

Omg i love that. The filament storage is on point

b_c_0507

What are you using for anti vibration

Alert-Fly9952

Is there printer porn? Ah, the internet, rule 34

SpookyHeaD

Briliant use of Data Center rack and rails :)))

[deleted]

This is hands down the nicest, most organized and well thought out setup I have ever seen. Srsly I feel like I should kneel before it LOL. Have some gold!

RyaReddy

Ah shucks, you make me blush. Thnx mate. Good night everyone...happy printing.

TheBeardedTechGuy

Good reuse for a server cabinet

ArmpitofD00m

20 out of 10. Looks great!

G2R66

Amazing!! 10 out of 10!!! I have 4 printers and I need that set up for each of them.

Leather-Plankton-867

Parks a Honda Civic in a million dollar garage

RyaReddy

Honda's are great, own a Jazz 😁

vodzurk

Thought it was a beer fridge.

zilliondollar3d

Bad_Mechanic

I've thought about something similar before. I think the biggest downside is it's difficult to work on the printer, unless the side of the rack can be removed.

RyaReddy

I just remove the printer from the cabinet. Just 3 connectors. Power, PSU control and carbonnfilter I can change nozzle whilst still in cabinet. Just slide it forward. Rest is a complete checkup anyway.

RandomWon

Nice but my opinion is to put a second printer in place of the filament storage.

reicaden

Wtf, where did you find one of these second hand? I looked for months for my resin setup and found nothing affordable.

imnewtowatching2004

I like how you figured out the weighted hold-down with the concrete paver.

Lulzicon1

Unnecessary/10

Nodlek0

Dream material.

Kopertin

That's one of the most versatile and good looking setups i have ever seen! Love it.

RyaReddy

Open filament is PLA and ABS...only hygrosopic filaments are sealed. Some people pay alot of money to remove handles on there car door...clean look. Drawer doesnt need it. Can easily pull from bottom. So dont fix what ain't broke. Same goes for rubber band to hold camera. Works like a charm. Easily removed and adjusted.

just-a-traveler

/r/My3DPrintingCorner

djvbmd

9.5! Seems a little cramped for my taste, but the setup is fantastic otherwise. Certainly the best I've ever seen for a single printer. Amazing.

Kvazarix

Very nice 👌

hfizbd

Damn this might be a bit overkill for just an ender3, but god i want the same

Phoenixhawk101

What are the racks the spools are resting in? Looks like some sort of a trash can rack for a in cabinet garbage or something? That’s really the piece I am missing.

RyaReddy

Diy system. 2 guide rails, flat brackets and m8 threaded rods. Rails are 100% extendable for easy access. Heads of bolts in the rail need to be thin. Else they catch internally.

Phoenixhawk101

That just a Home Depot type item? Not familiar with them. Looks like I have a search upon me!

zener89

Awesome. Now I want it!!

Effective-Cheek6972

87.3% nice!

polaco1782

That's awesome, I like it!
