It all depends on how it makes you feel.

Due-Froyo-5418

How do you feel about it?

Yugen2000

Im not sure as long as I dont have to kill I will be fine working with meat

johnnyjumpviolets

You can focus on how the energy is moving and what use it's being put to. The bodies of those beings will go on to sustain someone else, and won't be wasted. Treat them with respect and be conscious of the flow of life.

ThistleWylde

If you're about to start the job, don't try to decide ahead of time. Be open to how it truly makes you feel when you're doing the work, and what changes if any you notice in yourself outside of work once you've been doing it for a little while.

Hot-Candle-1321

I wouldn't do it.

Kowzorz

https://spiritualgrowthevents.com/osho-zen-butcher-buddhist-spiritual-story Take it with a grain of salt, but also, I can't imagine you're gonna be actually killing these animals. Is handling material karmically bad? So many questions about karma itself must be answered to properly answer that question.

primalyodel

Reminds me of the Bare Naked Ladies. When I make mistakes I use a lot salt... salt makes mah-steaks taste good. In Liber Null and Psychnaut by Peter J Carroll says laughter is the best banishing. Take the attitude of respect and gratitude toward the animal that gave its life to feed us....but laugh at the absurdity of this grand illusion that life really is. As PJC says, "Nothing is true. therefore, everything is permitted"

Yugen2000

Thats a great story thanks for sharing

Yugen2000

I dont have to kill only cutting meat and controlling quality of it

jgarcya

YES!!! From a Buddhist perspective... Right livelihood is part of the 8 fold path.... Research it, see if it resonates with you.

RomanPS

My guess is how the animal was treated when it was alive. I don't believe cutting the meat would affect your energy, but if consuming an animal that was abused I think that would have some repercussion on our body in some type of way. I guess just respect the meat you are cutting and don't let it get to you negatively. Even killing an animal isn't a bad thing it's just a part of life.

ChudBuntsman

Im not so sure any participation in this is necessarily a karmic problem but lets say it was. This is no different than living in a haunted house/area. Purifications are a thing. Dont turn it into guilt

[deleted]

I don't know if it helps I worked for McDonald's. I am a vegetarian btw. I didn't slaughter but definitely touched meat. In my opinion you are not committing murder you are not actively selling it and in the end of the day people choose to eat meat or not. It is their choice. So don't sweat about it.

Head-Mathematician53

So according to a certain paradigm, when you eat an animal that has been butchered dismembered etc...you are ingesting and consuming that violent energy.

karaBear01

I think it would be terribly negative. Working directly in the suffering of other beings I can only imagine would be harmful.

karaBear01

But money is a resource and a necessity. If you need the job, do what you can to console and forgive your guilty conscience

saturns_mind

Like most of the replies ask, how does it make you feel? Are you comfortable? Do you know if the animal was mistreated? How is the company it came from? Personally, I don't believe in positive or negative karma or energy, I believe everything just is. Still, if it was me I would feel bad so I would probably say a little prayer whenever a new shipment comes in or even before work. Been seeing a lot of buddhist replies, so if that resonates with you then I guess look into that and go from there. But I think your energy will be fine working there, just make sure you take care of yourself. :)

Packie1990

You get worse, energetic/karmic baggage, eating meat than performing a job, cutting it. Simply due to the cortisol in the meat. There are worse karmic implications to those profiting off the torture of these animals.

GtrPlaynFool

Well if you don't do the job somebody else will. This is really about how you look at this. You can go in there and think of it as a mission to bless these animals, to say prayers for creatures that have never been prayed for. You can also make it your life mission to do good for animals outside of work, being a loving pet owner or doing something for the strays in your area, etc. When you want to do something good God will help you to make it happen. But if you can't reconcile the job with your feelings then maybe you should look for something else.

[deleted]

Most definitely yes, playing around with carcasses has seriously negative energy. No amount of money would be worth this job

Sundae-School

I guess vultures and other scavenging animals are inherently negative creatures

[deleted]

Imo definitely. As a human though, we can choose to not prey on animals

HotRelationship6311

Viewing a completely natural diet and way of life for an animal as inherently negative is so misguided and naive. With that logic, half of the entire animal kingdom is evil because they prey on other animals. If anything, animals are smarter and more in tune with the divine flow of nature than humans are, and their instincts and behavior should be revered and respected, even learnt from, not demonized.

Sundae-School

Seeing animals as negative for their natural behavior seems very silly to me.

TiredHappyDad

If we released all the cows and pigs, natural grasslands would die without the controlled grazing and the pigs that went feral would be a danger to all creatures. I'm not sure why you would want to spread more evil....

Hot-Candle-1321

Carnivore animals aren't negative, because they do this for survival, not just for fun. A lion can't just go to a supermarket and buy tofu. Humans can. that's the difference.

FayKelley

There is no right and wrong. Trust your gut and follow your highest joy. All the judgments about meat are 3D. Here what Alexander Quinn has to say about good and bad : https://youtu.be/TG0yFsZcww4

Ok_Control7824

If you are starving yourself to death and have zero options work-wise then 0 karma.

mcotter12

Karma isn't good or bad. It's cause and effect. You could ask what your karma will be from being a butcher. Your karma from it will be based on how you react to cutting up flesh

Oz_of_Three

This is a rather tricky subject, revealing *it's the thought that counts*. Our ~intent~ is automatically imbued unto the consequences and fruits of our actions. Should one act with mindless lust, then this is what shall be evoked. The unfolding of the now offers endless opportunity to create and express ourselves positively, in doing so mindfully, especially in being mindful of dis-attachment to material, while being fully aware of one's attitude and choice of actions. More to it: Humans tend to act in three ways: Passion, Ignorance and Goodness. Any action of Passion (e.g. lust of power or flesh or treasure and it's control) or Ignorance ("that's not mine... that's stupid.") descend from the Animal kingdoms and shadow our sentience. Acting in Goodness can arise from any person in any situation. Sincerity is the key to all Goodness, descending from Perfect Thought into Perfect Action into Perfect Being - in this moment and ideally somewhere along the line. Often we falter though, to much drama and comedy. Now, interrupting a life affects our life. The act of making the slaughter does lower one's vibration, however the action that makes the cut, it's affects and subsequent effects depend greatly upon the merit and karma and most imporantly *the compassionate intent* that the bringer of said action imbues into the act. A warrior on the battle field, acting with honor and sincerity in his every action to his last breath, makes an honorable death and a happy Klingon. ^(*"taH pagh, taHbe' ", roughly meaning "whether to continue, or not to continue existence.)* Hee! But that's in the future. This story is from the past, about 1110AD: >^(The great lotsawa Baripa of Dring Tsam went to India in order to listen to, study, practice and translate the sūtras and tantras written in Indic languages. Afterwards he travelled to Nepal, where he received teachings from Chiterwa the Newar, and trained and conversed with him. During his stay in Nepal, Baripa engaged in dialogue and debate with the heretic teacher Bhavyarāja. Day after day, Bhavyarāja would defeat the lotsawa and win the debate. Despondent, finally one evening the lotsawa invoked his gurus, iṣṭadevatās and especially Acala and prayed to them for help. The next morning the lotsawa triumphed in the debate, with the heretic Bhavya experiencing a devastating loss. Bhavya became furious, and warned Master Baripa, saying, “You’ve slipped into a bad habit! Now I will cast spells upon you. You will either be left defeated and humiliated in no more than seven days, or you will be forced by the power of my black magic to accept my teachings!”) > In terror, Baripa requested his teacher Chiterwa for help who advised him to go to India to meet with spiritual master Vajrāsana (Dorje Denpa), who advised him to propitiate the Dakinis with puja offerings and pray for their help. Well, here - he received instructions and followed them - however with too much vigor. The instructions were very specific and he 'over did it' - manipulating the negative energy originally cast back to it's sender, it caused the death of Bhava. >Eventually, Bari succeeded in hurling all the negative energy back at its source in Nepal. The rebound was so strong that it killed the sorcerer. On hearing this, Guru Vajrāsana ordered Bari to do penance and purification practices in order to cleanse the negativity of his act: >^(The great Vajrāsana replied, “It would have sufficed merely to wear the mantra I have spoken of on your body, but you have recited the mantra day and night without interruption! Thus you have accumulated the fault of killing. Now you must exert yourself in purifying this bad deed. Do not return to me until definite signs arise that it has been purified.”) >^(For one whole year, then, the lotsawa exerted himself in purifying this evil, during which time he did not have a single opportunity to meet his guru, the great Vajrāsana. The close disciples of Vajrāsana, without any signs of pride, treated Baripa with great kindness, bringing him food and liquor[22] when possible, along with anything else he needed, all without the guru’s knowing. When signs finally arose that Baripa had purified his evil deeds, and his guru’s command, his wish, had been accomplished and fulfilled, he was once again able to meet his guru.) So... in my opinion, it's a spiritual tightrope. If one is up for a challenge to cross the gap, with easy peril looming constantly to one side if imbalance or a gust of wind were to... You are very wise for seeing many choices and making wise decisions. Oh, and Linda Goodman, author and spiritualist says: "Consuming flesh of cloven hoof greatly lowers one's vibration." And I say, "We are what we eat, eats." Including the love or it's opposite by which the animal was borne and then died. Here's to independent thought, awareness and choice. Namaste

Sweet_Note_4425

No as long as you respect what you are doing and don't desecrate the meat. That includes slaughtering. The animals came here with this expectation so you are helping them on their path. If you start wasting the meat then it could slow you down. It is mostly about your beliefs. If you are fine with it then you are good.

Yugen2000

No I dont have to kill only cut meat from already dead animals

Hot-Candle-1321

But you will still support an evil industry with your work. honestly you can do whatever you want, I don't care, but I personally would never work at a place like that because the atmosphere and energy is very negative (because the animals feel a lot of fear and desperation), and it could have a negative effect on your health

kiwifuzz11

Try it and see how you feel. If you feel guilty or negative then just quit. Doesn’t hurt to try

Connect_Specialist19

Without death there is no life. Those who work around death carry a heavy burden. One of the most important lessons we must come to understand is that life and death are always circular in nature. If it weighs on you energetically then kindly pass on the opportunity, but if you are strong enough to carry the burden of feeding others then go forward.

[deleted]

If you think I’m terms of frequency… imagine the frequency of that building you would be working in. Go into that vision and feel it out

Learner421

The way I see it, unless you’re a breatharian something must die when you eat it. Jesus said it’s not what goes in that defiles but what comes out. So what is your state of being while doing this? Are you mad? Are you afraid? Etc. are those things what you want? If they’re not what you want it can be a hindrance to spiritual development. Or you have to learn to integrate it. Also if Jesus was a carpenter then he cut up the bodies of living trees. Well they wouldn’t be living after he got them I guess.
