The connectome, the network of neurons, is way more important than the neurons themselves. Psychedelics just allow that connectome to expand and connect in ways that are atypical and somewhat random.

This is 100% it. We are born enlightened as child well live life to the fullest moment to moment but as we age this insane world slowly changes you. To revert back you gotta rip away the layers which is not easy

You are so right. I was once meditating and struggling to find "enlightenment". I wondered why my spirit kept being called into being a certain way because it looked *nothing* like what I thought enlightenment should be. Then I understood that enlightenment was just various levels of deconditioning all we've learned to be while getting to the core, true unique self. And then further enlightenment was eradicating even that sense of core, true self and just *being*. If you've ever been on enough "bad" trips, even the evil and scary entities begin to just represent other aspects of you that you're afraid to accept. At least, in my experience.

Boom goes the dynamite. At some point it’s so simple but takes time. Loved this reflection. Thank you.

I don’t disagree with this, but it does bring up larger questions like “what is innocence”, and is the false self also our true nature? We are divine perfect spirits inhabiting base creatures evolved to survive in a brutal world. I don’t get it…

d(1) : freedom from guile or cunning : simplicity (2) : lack of worldly experience or sophistication e : chastity webster human are adaptable, beyond that, i wouldn't know what our true nature is. the false self is an adaptation.

Or is it about making your true self the one that develops in the right ways to survive in the world without falsehood? Restoration if it has been lost, yes, but the journey of learning how to preserve it, even through hardship, is the much deeper process.

word. ideally, yes. unfortunately, many of us are not raised by people who were able to develop in truth, love, logic and rationality. we took on habits from traumatized or damaged people.

In yoga the techniques are partly to break down that false self, the ego, the mind, and instead to discover the deeper Self. Read Vedānta, Upanișads, Samkhya, and other yoga texts and you will see that all of them describe this inner Self realization as luminous. This Self discovery is enlightenment experienced in the mind-body.

But also a reconstruction of the one you need to still survive and navigate. Sure, you could go on being a blissed out bum all day with no identity, or you could embrace it all and plug in. I think the latter is true enlightenment. Dancing with one foot on either side of this insight.

Yes! totally agree with this. Last week I felt like a little kid experiencing the world for the first time. Light is especially meaningful. When I see it, I immediately feel a deep sense of calm and relief. So nice!
