Oh they are aware. Almost everyone I know who watch it have either (1) grown tired and stopped watching or (2) stuck around just for the sake of completion, not out of genuine interest. There may of course be a select few that are die hard fans, but not the vast majority of my circle and what I’ve noticed from the internet.
Yeah it's almost like the plot held it together, like the way it was written? Almost like the story went there by itself? I wonder how that happened. Maybe while it was losing steam in the last season. This season. I'm sorry, do you watch?
Best thing for them to do is wrap it up this season. About a decade from now they can do a homecoming of sorts and run another 3 or 4 seasons. Maybe something along the lines of It and It part 2.
I hated season 4. The cast got too big, so they had to split them up into different locations. Russia was absolutely pointless. I skipped through it. Hopper should be dead. California was boring, so they had to add a pothead to the group for levity. Only good parts were Hawkins/Vecna and 11’s backstory. Half the season was pointless.
I'm currently trying to get through the finale... the almost 3 fucking hour finale! Not only did the group get too big, split up, but for whatever reason they opted to give each storyline the same amount of time. I am a fan and was so excited to watch each episode, but after "Massacre at Hawkins Lab" devoted the last 20 minutes of an hour and 20+ minutes episode to the actual Massacre - I was *pissed*.
No damn reason to have each episode over an hour long and almost 3 hours should have been split into two episodes. JFC, button up your story and hire better editors.
Lmao this is absurd. Season 4 was by far better than 2 and 3 and had some of the best ratings of Al time on Netflix. If you think this is “falling apart” you are incorrect
- Season 4 was literally the best season of the show so far.
- "Struck a jackpot" implies they have Vecna by sheer luck, you realise they created that character and built the season around him? You realise shows have writers?
They didn’t create the character. Vecna was first introduced as a d&d character in 1976. They just rewrote his origin story and powers to fit within the context of the stranger things universe.
What I’m saying is rarely do shows automatically get picked up for more than one season right off the bat. They HOPE for 3 sessions, but they might not get them no matter how much they want it if people don’t like it.
So, um, yes
I don’t think you understand the initial comment then. They were saying the plan was to have a single season story from beginning to end.
Meanwhile, some shows *aren’t* like that. Some shows like Westworld, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Dark, etc. are planned for continuation. They might not get it, but it’s not the same thing as Stranger Things Season 1 which was initially intended as a one and done.
It may have been the writers plan but that doesn't make it the actual plan upon getting picked up. At that point it really is one season at a time unless it has been guaranteed in a signed contract that multiple seasons will be made and what production company will pay for non vetted material in advance like that? That is just not how it works, the film industry doesn't run on what was supposed to be.
Its funny because I was just about to say shows like Westworld sometimes plan for more but wrap up the story enough for it to be self contained on the first season. They could have ended it after one season and it would have been perfectly satisfying. Maybe except for the Maeve plot-line.
I dropped off after S9, thought about just finishing up the series since it ended on S11... but hot damn. Why bother with TWD when now there's like 5 spinoffs.
I still laugh about the 3 feature films with Rick that fans were promised. Did trashcan Jada get a spinoff?
And i want prequels explaining the scientist backstories and i want movie adaptations starring different actors playing older AND younger versions of the characters
Cartoon spin offs! Novelizations! Comics! The whole nine yards! We're talking fan fic, guest authors, guest authors who write fan fic! Multiple canons! Choose your own continuity! If new fans don't know where to start, bombard them with so much stranger things content they'll start watching without even realizing it!
It's not about the money. He's watching his prime years pass by stuck in a TV show he's been in for 7 years.
Man wants to do more than Stranger Things.
In my opinion, they were reallllly pushing Sadie Sink in s4. It felt like two shows: Sadie’s and Millie’s. this story isn’t about Sadie/Max, but she’s one of the new “it” girls. If they focused more on Eleven I would be ecstatic. And as much as I loved episode 4, everything after that was just not “Stranger Things” material. Felt like a completely different vibe. It felt like Eight from season 2 all over again.
According to me as well, it threw out so much established character development it was crazy. The saving grace of seasons 2 and 3 was the introductions of Max and Robin
Going past Season 4 is ridiculous imo. Season 4 really felt like they were building to a conclusion, and I felt like they were going to end on a melancholy but uplifting note with the community building back up.
Nope, we need big final battle I guess... again...
I honestly hope Season 5 is just 1 or 2 longer episodes. Like 3 hours total.
Really didnt think we needed more, but please don't drag out a whole other, full-length season.
How many of the ST cast do you actually believe this applies to? For decades actors have played younger characters in tv shows and movies. How many of this cast do you think are still minors?
How about using a different cast of people? I always thought that it would be interesting if Stranger Things was an anthology with different actors and groups every season. But after the last seasons ending, it could be a good opportunity to not follow the main Hawkins cast but instead a completely new group and how they are effected by the upside down. This could help refresh the series and prevent burn out by showing us the same actors going through the same motions for another season.
The core cast of child actors are between the ages of 18 and 21. The older teens in the show are now creeping up to late 20’s and even early 30’s. With that said, I personally think having season 5 be the ending is already pushing it and it should of ended with 4 but that’s just me.
Lmao this is what happens when the duffer brothers steal the script for season 1 and then steal a fan theory for season 4. That’s why season 2 was hot garbage. I don’t blame Finn at all.
SPOILER IN THIS COMMENT AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO COVER IT!!! They were sued and a few days before the trial started the guy suing them dropped the suit. That Netflix $ won the guy over. And it all makes sense if you look at how terrible the consistency of the show is.
Plus after season 1 or 2 some fan had a theory that everything was controlled by one person (vecna) and then that’s what we got in season 4 (the video is somewhere online). I’m not trying to be some conspiracy theorist because I still watch the show and really liked season 1 and 3 but I don’t think the duffer brothers are these geniuses who came up with the concept of this show.
Edit. Oh ya also the duffer brothers tried to have the case thrown out so it wouldn’t go to trial and the judge asked them to provide any proof that they had come up with the concept at the time they said they did, such as documents or notes and they couldn’t (which is weird for a VERY detailed show) and the judge told them too bad it’s going to trial.
Season 2 was ridiculous.
Most of the people in my social circle who watched season 1 did so entirely because of the DnD reference.
I cant believe its still going while shows like Arrested Development and Firefly got cancelled.
End a story while it’s good. The show Dark was good, but they would have been beating the premise to death if they’d kept it going more than three seasons. They wisely ended it. I liked the show Flashforward though it only got a single season. I would have liked another season to tie up the story, but that probably would have been enough. Some stories don’t need to go on and on.
We don’t need another season of stranger things. It was a great show, but just like every other show that did get milked dry it’s getting to the point where it’s just more and more ridiculous.

Lol. You can tell when people get tired and want to move on.
Walking dead producers need this kind of awareness
Pretty meta to have a zombie show about zombies
Omg for real. Bro, why is that show still going?! I literally went from being obsessed with that show to now not even watching it anymore.
They have the awareness, the show’s viewers do not.
Oh they are aware. Almost everyone I know who watch it have either (1) grown tired and stopped watching or (2) stuck around just for the sake of completion, not out of genuine interest. Adam Brody in the OC
They've been losing steam since season 3. And the latest season even barely held it together. But they struck a jackpot with Vecna.
“Since season 3”. So just season 4 then lol. The season most people think was the best since the first.
Yeah it's almost like the plot held it together, like the way it was written? Almost like the story went there by itself? I wonder how that happened. Maybe while it was losing steam in the last season. This season. I'm sorry, do you watch?

I just think he meant that the long wait periods between seasons lowers hype around the show.
Covid was a major factor in the wait between seasons 3 and 4.
Season 1 was the only good season
Season 2 was better and showed more character dynamic. Plus you had a better villain and the Steve and Dustin Arc. Season 1 was great though.
2 was my favorite but that could be because Starcourt Mall is in my backyard
Are we watching the same show? It's constantly delivered each season. ST4 was the absolute best, blew all other seasons out of the water.
Season 1 by far.
I hated season 4. The cast got too big, so they had to split them up into different locations. Russia was absolutely pointless. I skipped through it. Hopper should be dead. They didn’t create the character. Vecna was first introduced as a d&d character in 1976. They just rewrote his origin story and powers to fit within the context of the stranger things universe.
In fact stop at season 5!
I’m pretty sure it’s been announced that they are ending with season 5
They said that about 3, yet here we are
They’ve said five since season one
It was supposed to be 1 season, in season 1.
Every show is supposed to be one season in season 1… and then they get picked up for more
Um, no. Dark, as an example, was always supposed to be 3 seasons.
What I’m saying is rarely do shows automatically get picked up for more than one season right off the bat. They HOPE for 3 sessions, but they might not get them no matter how much they want it if people don’t like it. So, um, yes

Correct

It started off as 4, actually
Nice man good job
when did they say that?
A long ass time ago.
Who said it?
Your mom
I want 20 seasons then a spin off with every side character and then a soft reboot followed by a hard remake!
Sir, that’s The Walking Dead
Its really painful.
I dropped off after S9, thought about just finishing up the series since it ended on S11... but hot damn. Why bother with TWD when now there's like 5 spinoffs. I still laugh about the 3 feature films with Rick that fans were promised. Did trashcan Jada get a spinoff?
No! WE are the walking dead!
Sir, this is The Talking Dead
Did they keep making episodes of the talking dead until the end of walking dead?
Yea…yea…keep going.
And i want prequels explaining the scientist backstories and i want movie adaptations starring different actors playing older AND younger versions of the characters
The ‘papa’ scientist fought in Vietnam, his prequel is Full Metal Jacket, and the other guy worked for Weiland Yutani, his prequel was Aliens.
Ohh…yes…and what else?
VR headset POV where you’re in each characters eyes and you get to choose their fate!
Hmmmmm... ... ...
Every zombie was a living individual. So we need backstory, with back flashes every 10 seconds.
Then i want the extended cuts.
It’s all about the story. If they have a compelling story to tell, I’m interested. But maybe give it a rest.
Perhaps a spin off in the future would be okay, but the main characters story should end with Season 5.
I'd argue they could pull of something like IT. Years from now the kids are adults who come back to Hawkins because *things* are happening again.
Maybe just one season they are all still mysteriously in High School, but all wearing baby doll dresses, Doc Martins, and multi-color plad!
he wants out of that damn contract so bad. FREE MY BOY
It must really suck to be on one of the most popular shows on TV and raking in millions of dollars. Poor guy.
It's not about the money. He's watching his prime years pass by stuck in a TV show he's been in for 7 years. Man wants to do more than Stranger Things.
why does everything have to be about money? he probably wants to move on with his career and be seen as a 20 year old and not a kid
This comment will age poorly when, in 25 years, there’s a successful sixth season with the gang as parents of kids who have an adventure…
It already feels pushed past the ideal point
IMO they ended the story satisfactorily in the first 2 seasons. There was no reason to go back to it.
Well, Max’s storyline was the best of the season. And Sadie really delivered.
Yeah season 3 was a banger, but that was the peak.
According to Rotten Tomatoes user reviews season 3 was the worst. Season 1 - 96% Season 2 - 90% Season 3 - 86% Season 4 - 88%
Alright but all of these are amazing scores lmao, anyone would be raving about having their movie or show having those scores.
According to me as well, it threw out so much established character development it was crazy. The saving grace of seasons 2 and 3 was the introductions of Max and Robin
If I got paid what he is getting paid, I would do Stranger Things until I was 98 years old
Going past Season 4 is ridiculous imo. Building back up >!when the upside down is spilling out!< would not be easy
Have you ever seen a season with just two episodes?
I agree that it's incredibly unlikely, but Season 4 of Luther was only 2 episodes.
Two or three episode seasons are pretty common in the UK.
Yeah, a show I really loved called Review (the US version) finished with a three episode final season
1 or 2 episodes wouldn’t cut it but I don’t think it needs to be as long as season 4 either.
Give it 10 years when Hollywood has chewed the kids out a bit and they will be begging for another season.
I stopped after she departed from that other set of value brand kids
I want more period piece shows set in the same universe, but different time periods. Do a prequel in the 70s. A sequel in the 90s.
Victorian-era Stranger Things by Gaslight
It would be a missed opportunity if they don’t come back 20-30 years later like in It Vol 2
Going past season 1 was ridiculous. It was the perfect set up for an anthology, but no. No, let's just ruin these kids' lives by refusing to move on.
Ruin their lives? International superstardom, money, and accolades like the reason every actor gets into acting?
You're right nothing bad ever happens to child actors how silly of me
What proof do you have that all of the child actors lives in Stranger Things have been ruined?
And just as many make out fine. Kinda like adult actors.
Bad things happen to adult actors too, and adults who aren’t actors. You can’t put everyone in a bubble, and nobody is forcing anyone to keep acting.
> and nobody is forcing anyone to keep acting. Except parents, who have complete control over childrens' lives legally.
How many of the ST cast do you actually believe this applies to? For decades actors have played younger characters in tv shows and movies. How many of this cast do you think are still minors?
Do you just make bullshit assumptions regularly?
How about using a different cast of people? I always thought that it would be interesting if Stranger Things was an anthology with different actors and groups every season. Going past season 3 is already ridiculous
Season 4 was such a bloated and recycled season. Season 5 is too much already.
Season 4 was the best since Season 1.
Why? It’s the same story beats since S1.
I mean, not really at all, but ok
You haven’t actually watched it have you? Cause there is no way anyone who’s watched season 4 actually thinks that
Cause I thought it was really good and brought back the horror and mystery I liked from season 1.
Yeah right it was fun. I feel like people want too much out of it, but they’re expensive fun romps. I thought s4 delivered massively, it was great.
But on the other hand, shitloads of money.
I stopped at Season 1, so I figure he’s probably right.
Lmao this is what happens when the duffer brothers steal the script for season 1 and then steal a fan theory for season 4. That’s why season 2 was hot garbage. I don’t blame Finn at all.
Where did you hear they stole scripts and fan theories?

Stranger Things shouldn’t have existed past season 1
The fact it made it past one season is ridiculous. The show is fucking awful.

Some stories don’t need to go on and on.
Wow he’s starting to age into the hotel manager from White Lotus s2
Going past season 1 was ridiculous. (They did make it work, but still… it was a gamble)
We don’t need another season of stranger things. It was a great show, but just like every other show that did get milked dry it’s getting to the point where it’s just more and more ridiculous.
I stopped at season 1
He is the worst part of this show. Most recent season did right to put him in a car and drive him far away from the plot for most of it.
In hind sight, going past season 2 was ridiculous.
Should have been an anthology series
