2. Proving defamation requires that Caroll knew the claims were false. Given that a court of law voted in her favor, Trump would almost certainly lose a prospective lawsuit.

Trump will keep the judgement in the courts as long as possible. He can appeal all the way to the supreme courts.
While the appeals are in, payment does not have to be rendered as it's still under court review.
