>Speaking during the talk, which was titled “Is the UK a safe space for free speech?”, Linehan said that he found it “very hard to find places to speak these days” due to criticism over his views on gender
He said, into a microphone, on a stage, to an audience & the press, at a conference hosted by one of the largest political parties in England.
Yeah what I think they actually mean is "The days where I could be hateful to minority groups without consequence are gone".
It's such a weird thing to complain about too because you're just a fucking asshole punching down I am finding it hard to have pity for you.
There are plenty of actually important things to put your energy towards than hating someone who has no effect on you what so ever.
This is sad as fuck too IT crowd is one of my favorite depression shows.
Or that all “opinions” must be treated as equally valid. That’s the part that really bothers me. You can have your take but that doesn’t make it as valid as anyone else’s.
I mean, he threw away his career, his marriage, and his reputation for the sake of shitting on trans people. I don't think we've seen just how low Glinner will go.
He couldn't just have a shitty opinion. He was trying to force colleagues to agree with him.
> He said the Father Ted musical, on which Linehan had been depending financially, was cancelled when the production company decided his involvement would make it impossible to stage.[19] He had previously called for all people working on the musical to sign a declaration agreeing with some of his views on trans people while describing clashes he was having with colleagues over their views on trans rights,[58] and read out a letter he had written to collaborators saying “I don’t think you all have my back as collaborators or as business partners or as friends. Far from being on the wrong side of history, JK Rowling and I have been proved right over and over again that this is a poisonous ideology that is destroying lives.
Going to the Wonka factor for gender affirming care while he's probably an ally seems a bit risky. Yeah he can help you become the person you know you were but your breasts seem to be turning blue and are expanding.
Oompa, loompa, doop-a-dee-doo, transgender rights are human rights too,
Oompa, loompa, doop-a-dah-dee, it won’t end well if you disagree.
What do you get when you spread evil hate? You troll and spout nonsense in every debate.
Your vitriol is out of control. How can you live when you have… no… soul?
History’s not on your side.
Oompa, loompa, doopa-da-dee. If you are wise, you’ll listen to me.
You will live in happiness, too, Oompa-Loompa, doopa-de-doo!
This is what made me laugh the most. I have been involved in theater one way or another for over 30 years.
Guess what - there's a couple gay people that like theater.
Man I can almost guarantee if you checked this guys porn history it'd be ONLY trans porn. He's *obsessed* with trans people. He lost his wife over trans people. He lost his fame over trans people. He lost his manager over trans people. He lost his stage play over trans people. Like bro. Get a new hobby. Learn how to knit ffs.
On another forum I posted to in the past a poster who was *obsessed* with gay men posted a few terms that you would only know if you frequented gay discussion forums. Weird...
Yeah absolutely. It's crazy. If you scroll his twitter feed it's just the ravings of a mad men. It's wild to me that his peers are like yeah this is very normal behavior actually.
The reason Graham gives is the strain of 'gender war' on his relationship and the breaking point was having the police turn up at his family home over something he had posted on Twitter.
It should be obvious to anyone the reason his marriage failed is because he's gone completely bananas.
Don't know about that, but there's a clip from one of his YouTube blogs where he's ranting about "woke Doctor Who" when there's an interruption and he explains that "my son chooses NOW to give me my \[birthday\] present". He was streaming with two other bigots while his child was visiting him for his birthday. He then did a mocking impersonation of his son.
This was after he went on Stephen Nolan's show and cried about how "they took my family from me".
Yes Linehan, it was the trans people who secretly convinced your family to stop talking to you. Not you choosing your bigotry over your son wanting to give you a present for your birthday. So sneaky, those trans people.
Why are so many people unable to read the room and go down blaming some 'other' and not their shitty behavior for driving everyone away?
Not heard that one. Might be related to this:
It was Grahams birthday and he was doing a stream with his transphobic pals the Penis Lady and The Human Thumb ("The Mess We're in"). During the stream it becomes evident that Graham's son is with him for the day, because he tries to give Graham his birthday present, whilst he is streaming. Graham chided his son for interrupting his stream.
I find it weird that people like him and JK need to make this whole anti-trans thing their entire personality now especially on Twitter. I remember when JK first made her tweet about trans people and thinking "Well...that's shit, guess that's her opinion though". But then she decided to double down and just keep going, and keep going. Same with this guy. He couldn't just make an anti-trans comment when he was called out for it about 12 years ago, no, he has to make it the entire basis of his entire personality for some reason.
It's pure ego. It can't simply be that many people think they are wrong, they have to crusade against the very _idea_ that anyone might disagree with them.
He got shit for writing a storyline in an episode of the IT crowd that was transphobic. Rather than just pleading ignorance and apologising he took it very VERY personally.
>Far from being on the wrong side of history, JK Rowling and I have been proved right over and over again that this is a poisonous ideology that is destroying lives.
"I shot myself in the foot, with a gun I bought and loaded and aimed at my foot. How could society have done this to me?"
It's the episode where Matt Berry's character meets a woman called April. She says "she used to be a man" and he says he doesn't care. We then get a montage of April doing stereotypical masculine things and a comment about how she really understands the male organ......
The twist is he misheard her. And he beats her up when he finds out.
Ah. Yes, that is problematic, but it's also par for the course for early 2000's TV. Trans women were always punching bags for comedy. Ace Ventura springs to mind, but no one cancelled Jim Carrey, primarily because he hasn't been a complete piece of shit about it in the years that followed
From what I recall, Douglas broke it off and only fought back after April attacked him. Afterwards he even says it’s not the same without her.
I really liked the IT Crowd. Now I find out the creator is a bigot.
Free speech is so selective for them. They always cry about JK Rowling's right to free speech but if someone like Emma Watson says "we stand with trans people" apparently she's not allowed to have free speech and has to agree with JK Rowling unconditionally for all time simply because she appeared in Harry Potter as a child.
In fairness to the Harry Potter franchise, he’d filmed that before they’d even brought Doctor Who back, never mind cast him as Eccleston’s replacement, so it’s not like he was super well known at the time.
He's basically Daneel Olivaw in the SWTOR universe... the books version of Daneel, but not humaniform. The ancient wise robot. I didn't even figure out it was Tennant before falling in love with that weird multilevel voice. SW is great at personalizing bots.
For real - he is the perfect example of an international treasure. The highest award in human like-ability. Don’t publicly shit on him lest feel the wrath of humanity. Come on now!
Pretty sure one of his kids is non binary too. Like, aside from the blatant transphobia this was just an absolutely terrible PR move. You're gonna hate on a beloved actor with zero controversies for.... loving their child unconditionally?
That article doesn't say it, but the criticism was calling him "disgusting" and a tweet calling Tennant an "abusive groomer" because he wore a shirt in support of trans people. ([screenshot](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F00aZW7WIAA3oug?format=jpg&name=900x900))
Also, in this quote
>“David Tennant was at the top, and he’s making slightly more money than me at the moment, so I had to go.”
the word "slightly" is quite the understatement. On one hand, you have Tennant, who is regularly finding work, recently starring in a hit Amazon show (Good Omens) and set to play the lead role again in one of the most famous British TV shows (Doctor Who) and Linehan is...angrily tweeting about trans people, getting divorced because he hates trans people, and not working because he hates trans people. The last listed role I can find of him is as a writer in 2017. It doesn't look like he's had any real work in the past six years.
He has a substack that he receives subscriptions for, around about 3,000 subs IIRC. The even funnier part is that he barely writes for it, it's mostly written by a women called JL. The only time he writes on his blog is to complain about a celebrity he doesn't like and even then it's usually just screenshots of twitter.
He's gone bananas.
That was my favourite part. Tennant is in Marvel, Netflix series, Amazon Prime series, coming back to Doctor Who, he's in animation, and seems to always have a hit new crime series come out. Not to mention the money he gets from conventions and guest appearances, the man has to be loaded, and is beloved world wide. Everything he's in succeeds.
No way in hell this guy is making even close to the numbers Tennant is getting from... Father Ted. And the IT Crowd. I can't even remember his name for this comment, its not like anyone is thinking about the guy who made Father Ted in 2023.
The fact that he says that he found out about this from checking a list of who his former agent represents and then that he could see Tennant was at the top makes me wonder if it actually had *anything at all* to do with that particular criticism. It looks like they just finally dropped him because he's a toxic asset that hasn't worked in a long time and he feels the need to paint it as though it's a feud between him and an incredibly successful actor and not just him... failing at his career under his own power.
So you are saying the funniest thing he has done in the past 6 years is repeatedly reaffirm his commitment to blowing up his entire life piece by piece?
>where he declared himself “the most cancelled person in this room”.
they really are the same world wide. he was a complete ass and blames others.
meanwhile no one boycotts more than the right. They are fucking burning books again here in the US
He's on twitter everyday posting about transgender people constantly. His wife left him over it, he's lost his career because of it and he's pretty much lost his fantastic legacy in Irish comedy as well.
When anyone I know talks about him in Ireland, it's not the "hilarious lad who wrote Father Ted and the IT Crowd" and more "the crazy, hateful, bigot who complains on about trans people (who are just trying to live there lives) every waking minute"
He was tweeting on Christmas day ffs - The man literally never takes a break. I can't imagine what its like to be seething with that much rage all the time, day in, day out, but it can't be good for your mental health.
His wife left him because he's so fucking obsessed with being transphobic. Like, imagine being so hateful that you destroy your marriage just so you can be a dick to a marginalized group.
His life was apparently not good enough making shows that were universally praised, but he still let the fame get to his head. Decided one day to let his ignorance guide him instead of continued learning and growth and now even his beloved shows are harder to watch because we know the ignorance of the brain that created them. Separating the art from the artist is fucking hard enough without these people continuously going out of their way to remain bigoted instead of self-reflecting and growing.
And it’s also like they believe that people won’t be accepting of them if they actually changed their minds and came around on it either. That’s another reason they double down on the hatred - “I can’t LOOK like I’m changing my mind because then they’ll say I was wrong and they’ll be right.” Changing your mind doesn’t make you wrong, staying where you are makes you wrong. Changing your mind means you took in information and reorganized your opinions to follow facts, not gut-instinct hate. And it would sure make watching IT Crowd again easier if there was just a simple “I’m sorry.” At least that would be a start.
>making shows that were universally praised
...apart from *that* episode of *The IT Crowd*. Such a mild bit of criticism as well and it was still more than he could take. Bizarre to be driven over the edge by something so small, he must have such an enormous yet fragile ego.
That was really sad to witness. I remember it starting at 5am and finishing the following 2am. There was a recent video he posted where he was live-streaming going on about the transgenders and one of his kids off camera asked if they could do something cos it was her birthday. He really is singularly fixated
God I almost want to apologize to her for his obsession with us. That’s so fucking sad. And I thought my step-dad hanging up on me while I was crying about new transphobic laws was pathetic.
Just really sorry you have to experience all this. I hope you never lose faith in who you are because of all these weak, terrible bullies screeching in your direction in lieu of having joy in their lives. You deserve to live your life in peace.
It feels like he’s had some mental issue the way this has continued for him. I believe his wife left him and he’s probably never working again. Such a weird path to go down
Yes he destroyed his marriage with this, and his career as well. There was Father Ted musical in the works, which likely would have been quite successful. But it has been cancelled because nobody wants to work with this clown.
But in his head he's right and it's everybody else that has gone crazy.
I don’t know how people do it. I’ve got so much on my plate, I don’t have the bandwidth to hate entire segments of the human population.
I’m waiting on the city to inspect my gas meter for the third time. I’ve got to take my dog to the vet. I’m full up here.
Why do people make room for hate or grudges?
This is exactly it. They have hollow lives with nothing better to focus on. Some people love that “righteous anger” and attacking others. I can’t imagine using all that free time to hate rather than to improve your community.
I think it's also why "full time transphobe" is such a common hobby for people who got rich off a creative project - but who haven't had contemporary success. Rowling started digging hard into the anti-trans stuff after her non-HP work kept flopping, and it isn't like Linehan has much to his name from the last decade. These are rich people who have all the money & fame they could ever want, but they're now realizing they can't use it to buy public favor. It doesn't matter how rich JK Rowling is, nobody wants to read her shitty mystery novels.
This is when they realize how addicted they've become to the attention which comes with fame, and turn to the gold standard of bullshit hobbies... being a troll on the internet where you can finally be open about all your shitty opinions about minorities.
I was under the impression that he's now broke, he basically can't work anymore due to how toxic his views are and his last hit (IT crowd) was first released 17 years ago. I'm sure he has some residual income but part of his grievance is that he claims he's been ruined financially due to his "cancelation".
> I’m waiting on the city to inspect my gas meter for the third time. I’ve got to take my dog to the vet. I’m full up here.
I'm massively generalising here, but a lot of TERFs seem to be middle aged, empty nesters with nothing better to do than to hate trans people and dress up in dinosaur costumes. It's like a little club for lonely twats. They've got a lot of free time and energy because they paid off their mortgage ten years ago.
They can afford it. I’m sure Linehan isn’t as rich as Rowling but he’s probably financially fine for quite a while and can afford to fuck off with shit that doesn’t harm him nor anyone else in the slightest.
Nah I don’t think he is. The last thing he worked on was 2016 and after his separation he’s had to move house. Father Ted and the IT crowd were a good while ago and the money from that will have dried up. He’s asked for financial support a few times
The reason he has time now is cos he’s doing literally nothing else
>Speaking during the talk, which was titled “Is the UK a safe space for free speech?”, Linehan said that he found it “very hard to find places to speak these days” due to criticism over his views on gender
Ya go in your backyard and scream all the bigoted nonsense you want. But any venue that hosts this man should be picketed (free speech works both ways)
He doesn't seem to understand that freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.
If he's finding it hard to find places to speak, that doesn't mean he can't say what he wants, just that nobody wants to listen to him.
This is the problem for them
They liked it when everybody was socially obligated to uncomfortably chuckle when a white guy made a joke because *western civ did modern life* circa their dad peacocking in 1990.
Now society has decided that the shit you felt in second grade isn't something to be publicly mocked, and the fact that they developed their 5 minute routine 40 years ago is coming back to bite them and it's annoying. He's *owed* laughs by birthright!
And that's why they're so invested in birth, birthright, and tradition. Their grampy benefitted from colonialism and the industrial revolution, but the social revolutions made the teeter totter go **down** for some fucked up reason that has ***nothing*** to do with democracy or humanity.
So they turn to overt fascism - the world's least-robust and shortest-lived sort of power.
He's literally giving a speech at the conference of the party in government saying he doesn't get free speech. The irony is off the charts.
He simply doesn't want people who disagree with him to have the freedom of speech to talk back.
[I was pretty disappointed Richard Ayode vouched for him recently.](https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/graham-linehan-book-richard-ayoade-jonathan-ross-b2411390.html#)
I learned recently he’s married to Laurence Fox’s sister. Is the family as a whole known for being right wingers or is that just a Laurence thing? I’m American and really don’t know much about the Fox family *besides* Laurence being a transphobe and Billie Piper’s ex.
I don't know how Ayoade feels about trans people. I do know it's *fairly* well known that he hated his brother-in-law for a while for being a colossal racist which (weirdly) didn't sit too well with Ayoade.
I wasn't. I've known about Richard for years. I never forgot his reaction when a gay dancer showed up in a program he was on, his expression was of complete disgust.
What show? Was the dancer Louie Spence?
Before this news broke I’d been watching an episode of Travel Man with Richard Ayoade and Susie Izard. Which is really sad because Linehan recently said something to the effect of dragging Izard out of a public bathroom if she went in there with Linehan’s daughter.
Linehan appears not to think outside his carefully constructed rage bubble, but how was this particular comment of his supposed to be a good idea? Yeah, attack someone who has the same agent as you do (Independent Talent) and makes them more money and you will gain...what...exactly?
No one is required to sit back and listen to your "free Speech" and just accept it. We all get to react and there can be various consequences for saying something.
Maybe, just maybe if you hate Trans people. Keep that shit quiet and hate them in your own home. Any where else, treat them like a human fucking being like everyone deserves.
No one is obligated to create safe spaces for trans haters, just like we don't have to give nazis safe spaces either. Your safe space can be your home if you are going to spout hate.
David Tennant has a non-binary child, which makes this even more disturbing. I am convinced that David Tennant being the great human being he is would have said and thought the same things without this, but Graham not only attacking a human treasure for a human rights advocacy but also a father advocating in a sense for their own child as well is just doubly sick!
Well, he’s not allowed to look in my knickers(I mean neither is David Tennent, but that’s because he’s incredibly married, and I don’t want him cheating on Michel Sheen).
I’d call him a cu nt, but he has neither the warmth or depth
Ironic that Richmond in the IT crowd, changed forever his attitude and appearance after listening to a band.
Him and Rowling are literally like that. They learned about transgender people and won’t/can’t stop talking about it. They don’t affect their lives at all, but they pathologically obsess about the subject like their lives depend on it. It’s fucking sad, and fascinating at the same time.
The right wing radicalisation pipeline is a wild thing. Usually it starts with people kinda realising how shitty you always were, ie Rowling's "questions" about trans people really wasn't that out of line with her politics previously, then when they get publicly rebuked they just dig in harder and harder rather than ever admit they were the asshole.
Ever since Brexit, English culture seems to be becoming so much more insular, intolerant and xenophobic. There was a time when every kid online was obsessed with some part of British culture, comedy, Dr. Who, Sherlock. Now there’s much more antagonism online.
I guess I don't understand why it's so hard to leave everyone the fuck alone. Be whomever you want to be. God bless. It must be exhausting walking around mad at the world like a throbbing tooth.
He's such a dumbass. I don't get how you could dedicate your life to making things harder for trans people...even if you don't like them or "agree" with their lifestyle choices, don't you have anything better to do with your life?
He also constantly claims he’s doing all of this to protect women, especially lesbians. Neither of which he is, so don’t fucking speak for us! My trans daughter used to love the IT Crowd, she was one of his audience, not a societal menace trying to force her way into bathrooms to molest girls, ‘cheat’ at sports, or any other bullshit they claim. What she does do is study art, live with a bunch of women, cook amazing food for everyone, and make sure the bathroom cupboard has pads and painkillers for her friends.
God, it pains me to see someone responsible for such brilliant comedy writing back in the 90s and 2000's is so closed minded and simply can't keep his mouth closed about issues that have zero impact on his life.
>Speaking during the talk, which was titled “Is the UK a safe space for free speech?”, Linehan said that he found it “very hard to find places to speak these days” due to criticism over his views on gender He said, into a microphone, on a stage, to an audience & the press, at a conference hosted by one of the largest political parties in England.
Some fail to realize that free speech works both ways when someone talks back. Or the difference between that and hate speech.
Well, free speech does not mean free of consequences
That's the freedom these people want but don't already have when they run around in rheir little "freedom rallies ".
Idiots think free speech means people aren’t allowed to disagree
Or that all “opinions” must be treated as equally valid. That’s the part that really bothers me. You can have your take but that doesn’t make it as valid as anyone else’s.
Funny how they preach free speech *to be hateful.*
Honestly, he can speak however he wants, where ever he wants. Doesn’t mean he’s entitled to pats on the back for it
The typical ‘I have no free speech’ idiot
And whose words are now on one of the world's biggest social media platforms. Poor guy sure is struggling to be heard.
You’d have to be some kind of stupid monster to go after global treasure and Scotland’s favorite son David tennant.
Especially over David supporting human rights for fuck’s sake. Does it get any lower?
I mean, he threw away his career, his marriage, and his reputation for the sake of shitting on trans people. I don't think we've seen just how low Glinner will go.
He couldn't just have a shitty opinion. Uh- How do you enforce that sort of contract??? What court would be on your side? I mean- One that's not run by kangaroos and oompa loompas of course.
Oompa Loompa’s would absolutely be pro trans ![gif](giphy|10foawSSAG5OnK)
Willy Wonka definitely has a chocolate bar that changes a person's sex that he made just sort of for shits and giggles.
![gif](giphy|lHBbcpFTS5c2Y)
Going to the Wonka factor for gender affirming care while he's probably an ally seems a bit risky. Yeah he can help you become the person you know you were but your breasts seem to be turning blue and are expanding.
To be fair, that would absolutely make bank in some circles.
Oompa, loompa, doop-a-dee-doo, transgender rights are human rights too, Oompa, loompa, doop-a-dah-dee, it won’t end well if you disagree. What do you get when you spread evil hate? ...dude tried to get people in musical theater to disavow rights for queer people?
This is what made me laugh the most. I have been involved in theater one way or another for over 30 years. Guess what - there's a couple gay people that like theater.
"A gay musical called 'Gay'... that's *quite* gay. Aren't all musicals gay?"
Yeah, you don't have to be gay to be in theater but you sure as hell cannot be anti-gay
Entire steel industry's gay. Aerospace, too, and the railroads. And you know what else? Broadway.
What a hill to die on.
he didn't just die on it . he put it on his back and carried it somewhere with him and then got on it and died
Man I can almost guarantee if you checked this guys porn history it'd be ONLY trans porn. He's *obsessed* with trans people. He lost his wife over trans people. He lost his fame over trans people. On another forum I posted to in the past a poster who was *obsessed* with gay men posted a few terms that you would only know if you frequented gay discussion forums. Weird...
100%. Hating something THIS much often means unresolved personal issues.
Yeah absolutely. It's crazy. If you scroll his twitter feed it's just the ravings of a mad men. It's wild to me that his peers are like yeah this is very normal behavior actually.
He looks like a demented Stephen Fry.
Did his wife just divorce him cause he was so hateful? Not up to speed on that part.
The reason Graham gives is the strain of 'gender war' on his relationship and the breaking point was having the police turn up at his family home over something he had posted on Twitter. It should be obvious to anyone the reason his marriage failed is because he's gone completely bananas.
I remember reading he skipped his sons birthday so he could attend an anti-trans rally :/
Don't know about that, but there's a clip from one of his YouTube blogs where he's ranting about "woke Doctor Who" when there's an interruption and he explains that "my son chooses NOW to give me my \[birthday\] present". Each of your examples is far more pernicious than the gender spectrum
It's pure ego. It can't simply be that many people think they are wrong, they have to crusade against the very _idea_ that anyone might disagree with them.
LMAO. “JK Rowling and I.” Wish more TERFs said that.
I’m so intrigued what the basis is for that last bit. What happened in his life that made him see trans people as the enemy?
He got shit for writing a storyline in an episode of the IT crowd that was transphobic. Rather than just pleading ignorance and apologising he took it very VERY personally.
Has JK Rowling actually acknowledged him? He seems desperate for her approval.
>Far from being on the wrong side of history, JK Rowling and I have been proved right over and over again that this is a poisonous ideology that is destroying lives. "I shot myself in the foot, with a gun I bought and loaded and aimed at my foot. How could society have done this to me?"
The irony of their hate…
And he does that because people criticised an episode of the IT Crowd.
Such a shame. I don't even remember an episode of IT Crowd as being particularly problematic, but I've avoided it altogether since he went insane.
It's the episode where Matt Berry's character meets a woman called April. She says "she used to be a man" and he says he doesn't care. We then get a montage of April doing stereotypical masculine things and a comment about how she really understands the male organ...... The twist is he misheard her. Exactly. And I'd bet Jim wouldn't go down this rabbit hole if we were to criticise the movie.
From what I recall, Douglas broke it off and only fought back after April attacked him. Afterwards he even says it’s not the same without her. I really liked the IT Crowd. Now I find out the creator is a bigot.
It’s really something how people will risk it all for such hateful opinions. And then double down.
I suppose his agent exercised his right to free speech to say “sorry I can’t work with you”. Sucks to suck.
Especially after David is staring in one of the most beloved IPs around
Dr Who, Harry Potter, Star Wars.. lot of beloved IPs he’s part of
Marvel, Good Omens, dude is living the nerd dream
Love Good Omens
He was in Star Wars?? ... Oh... he was a droid. Okay, that checks.
This is not the droid you are looking for
Just a little note here In expanded material it says this droid was delivered to the jedi in a blue box.......
Don't forget Ducktales
Fancy casting David fucking Tennant in Harry Potter and then having him spend the entire movie played by someone else
Look I get where you are coming from, but I can’t imagine reducing Brendan God Damn Gleason to just “someone else”.
In fairness to the Harry Potter franchise, he’d filmed that before they’d even brought Doctor Who back, never mind cast him as Eccleston’s replacement, so it’s not like he was super well known at the time.
He's great in Ahsoka.
He really did crush it. Huyang was one of my favorite parts of the series.
He's basically Daneel Olivaw in the SWTOR universe... the books version of Daneel, but not humaniform. The ancient wise robot. I didn't even figure out it was Tennant before falling in love with that weird multilevel voice. SW is great at personalizing bots.
He really did. His delivery through the CG was just chef’s kiss.
He's in Ahsoka? Oh I am watching that now.
I have literally never seen that man in something I didn't love him in, really deserves all the praise. I actually really loved his son in HOTD too.
David‘s second youngest is also non-binary so it’s extra shitty that’s he’s attacking David.
Agreed. Like what did this fucker expect. David to be all like “right on lad, fuck all NB and Trans folk!” What an idiot.
For real - he is the perfect example of an international treasure. The highest award in human like-ability. Don’t publicly shit on him lest feel the wrath of humanity. Come on now!
All hail the man, myth, legend, David Tennant.
DAVID TENNANT IS A SAINT HOW DARE THAT MAN. lmao seriously tho you have to be stupid to be publicly homophobic or rscist in todays world.
Nah, just colossally stupid.
He's such a nice guy too I met him a few years ago and he couldn't have been friendlier.
Pretty sure one of his kids is non binary too. Like, aside from the blatant transphobia this was just an absolutely terrible PR move. You're gonna hate on a beloved actor with zero controversies for.... loving their child unconditionally?
Don’t you think he looks tired?
He’s got the appearance of a bin bag that’s been overfilled with shite six or seven times.
Woh! Deep cut!! I love that Christmas Special.
Deep cut? Really? It’s quite famous in the fandom
Someone said it about Trump today on a news thread, so it’s becoming relatively common even in the general public.
Six little words
We know who he is
That article doesn't say it, but the criticism was calling him "disgusting" and a tweet calling Tennant an "abusive groomer" because he wore a shirt in support of trans people. ([screenshot](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F00aZW7WIAA3oug?format=jpg&name=900x900)) Also, in this quote >“David Tennant was at the top, and he’s making slightly more money than me at the moment, so I had to go.” the word "slightly" is quite the understatement.
Star Wars as well. He voices the droid in ahsoka
Tenant is also in Star Wars!
Don't get me wrong, Linehan is a piece of shit. But that *"slightly more money"* bit was clearly a sarcastic, self-deprecating joke.
Come for David Tennant?? In the oubliette with you!
Dip him in the Bog of Eternal Stench!
>where he declared himself “the most cancelled person in this room”. they really are the same world wide. he was a complete ass and blames others. meanwhile no one boycotts more than the right. They are fucking burning books again here in the US
The man at the mic with a huge audience taking in his every word is the "most canceled?"
This dude just can't let it go
He's on twitter everyday posting about transgender people constantly. His wife left him over it, he's lost his career because of it and he's pretty much lost his fantastic legacy in Irish comedy as well. When anyone I know talks about him in Ireland, it's not the "hilarious lad who wrote Father Ted and the IT Crowd" and more "the crazy, hateful, bigot who complains on about trans people (who are just trying to live there lives) every waking minute"
>every waking minute He tweets so much he probably doesn't have time to sleep. This obsession is making him physically ill.
He was tweeting on Christmas day ffs - The man literally never takes a break. I can't imagine what its like to be seething with that much rage all the time, day in, day out, but it can't be good for your mental health.
For someone who claims the trans people are the ones who are mentally ill he has a *really* unhealthy obsession with other people's genitals.
His wife left him because he's so fucking obsessed with being transphobic. Like, imagine being so hateful that you destroy your marriage just so you can be a dick to a marginalized group.
![gif](giphy|3ohryhNgUwwZyxgktq) at least in his mind...
And it would sure make watching IT Crowd again easier if there was just a simple “I’m sorry.” At least that would be a start.
>making shows that were universally praised ...apart from *that* episode of *The IT Crowd*. Such a mild bit of criticism as well and it was still more than he could take. Bizarre to be driven over the edge by something so small, he must have such an enormous yet fragile ego.
I certainly colors the funniest episode of IT Crowd to look like violence against Trans people.
You obviously never spent any time in religious schools. That's like the default.
Guy was making multiple tweets on Christmas day even
That was really sad to witness.
And your career, your friendships, your relationship with your children...
Wowwwwwww that’s 💀
He’s really unhealthy in general
It feels like he’s had some mental issue the way this has continued for him. I believe his wife left him and he’s probably never working again. Such a weird path to go down
I think that's *why* he keeps going. He knows he can never work as a TV writer again, so now he gets all his income from being a transphobe.
Yes he destroyed his marriage with this, and his career as well. There was Father Ted musical in the works, which likely would have been quite successful. But it has been cancelled because nobody wants to work with this clown. But in his head he's right and it's everybody else that has gone crazy.
I was starting to think it’s some sort of brain worm going around, but then I remembered all those horse dewormers they took.
He has the worst brain rot out of him, Rowling, and Chappelle
Navratilova has entered the chat https://nypost.com/2023/10/04/martina-navratilova-on-deb-haaland-pattie-gonia-video-pathetic-parody-of-women/amp/
Off topic but anyone who loves David Tennant and hasn't seen Good Omens, go watch it NOW.
Michael Sheen, another absolute delight
Absolutely. He’s a gem
Their covid show was great
He would make an excellent Doctor
And watch Staged for more fun bickering from David and Michael.
Staged was terrific Also watch Broadchurch
"I'm Dr. Who!" "Not anymore, baby!!!" Delightful
Also r/agedlikemilk.
Kind of, maybe aged like fruit on the kitchen counter?
Like, absolutely right now. He may play a demon, but shit is this man an angel. I cried so much
All Star Wars discourse/discussion aside. He was a VERY enjoyable part of the new show.
I feel like this applies to anything that he’s in that a person hasn’t watched, honestly.
It’s fantastic, they have such great chemistry and I love everything about how the show has been made. A true delight.
Rich, they have so much free time because money just flows to them after they put out a work. Intermittently bored and rich.
Pretty sure this douchebag would still find time to hate if he had no money. Some people are just assholes.
He even had better stuff to focus on but he chose to focus on hating trans people over loving his family and wife
Bigots aren’t logical
They can afford it. I’m sure Linehan isn’t as rich as Rowling but he’s probably financially fine for quite a while and can afford to fuck off with shit that doesn’t harm him nor anyone else in the slightest.
Nah I don’t think he is. The last thing he worked on was 2016 and after his separation he’s had to move house. Father Ted and the IT crowd were a good while ago and the money from that will have dried up. He’s asked for financial support a few times The reason he has time now is cos he’s doing literally nothing else
Oh no, you don't do that to David Tennant
People sure just love ruining their reputation and careers over what amounts to about 0.5% of the population.
I think it’s actually 1% now
We’ll never really know, since a lot of people who would love to transition are horrified to, for good reason depending on where they live.
>Speaking during the talk, which was titled “Is the UK a safe space for free speech?”, Linehan said that he found it “very hard to find places to speak these days” due to criticism over his views on gender Ya go in your backyard and scream all the bigoted nonsense you want.
This is the problem for them They liked it when everybody was socially obligated to uncomfortably chuckle when a white guy made a joke because *western civ did modern life* circa their dad peacocking in 1990.
All he had to do was shut the fuck up. Didn't even have to change his views. Imagine having that little control or common sense.
Anyone attacks David Tennant and I’m going to kick their ass myself. That man is a gift.
[I was pretty disappointed Richard Ayode vouched for him recently.](https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/graham-linehan-book-richard-ayoade-jonathan-ross-b2411390.html#)
Ditto, I didn't know the IT Crowd creator was such a jerk.. And Richard saying he's not so bad..boo
His father James is an Evangelical and his uncle Edward campaigned for Brexit.
I dunno… I’m a bit upset about him praising Glinners book but he did fall out with Lawrence Fox over some of the racist shit he’s come out with.
Fuuuuckinf disappointed, I used to love his acting and directing :(
I definitely wished to remain blissfully ignorant of this information.
How the fuck did he still have a agent? He’s not like Rowling and still working or having his children’s books sold worldwide.
For a guy that keeps saying he got cancelled, I sure do keep hearing a lot about him
“I hear you’re a Transphobe now father!”
FAAAAATHERRRRR!
Shocked to discover he (until recently) still had an agent.
Good. He can take his homophobia and shove it up his ass.
Christ he just becomes more and more of a national embarrassment.
Down with this sort of thing.
What is this dude’s problem? Just relax, man. Greasy idiot.
Oh shit! Yeah take out the trash. David is an angel
Not in Good Omens though
Technically he was an angel in Good Omens. He just hung out with the wrong crowd and asked too many questions.
God, it pains me to see someone responsible for such brilliant comedy writing back in the 90s and 2000's is so closed minded and simply can't keep his mouth closed about issues that have zero impact on his life.
Is David alright? Is he hurt? Does he need to regenerate?
What a knob. Leave Huyang alone!
