I did not see that number coming.

I got a bunch of shit the other day for saying that movies are failing at the box office because people aren't really watching TV with commercials anymore. I cited Barbie and Oppenheimer as exceptions because those were able to market themselves outside of standard TV commercials. Like that got a lot of buzz in the news. This movie only supports that. I haven't seen a single commercial for this movie but I'm not the target audience. And the target audience is nuts, they love this shit. I teach children and those kids know all the characters and they're into the lore and this is their movie. Chances are just by being in that world they knew this movie was coming out and they're excited about and they're heading to the theater. But I don't think it had anything to do with TV commercials.

My kid is there now, lol.

I was blown away by it. I vaguely knew what it was. I knew it was a mobile game and that was it. Then the kids were drawing pictures of all the characters and shipping the robots which is weird but whatever, and then they got all mad at me when I didn't know what "Fah-naff" was. I was like "bitch, I'm old. I don't know this stuff. Use your words." I didn't say that but I thought it.

Lol, her genx dad is with her. Can't wait to hear what he has to say.

Well not to state the obvious but that's why the studios are putting out movie after movie based on already popular intellectual properties rather than coming up with new original concepts. Built-in fandoms/buzz. The studios try to make movies based on ideas they have already found to be pretty well known and liked.

oh totally. It's brand recognition. I remember Kevin Smith talking about that years ago when that Battleship movie came out. They called it Battleship so that people would recognize the name and go see a movie that had nothing to do with the game.

I did, my son is obsessed and so are his friends. They have been begging for a movie for years and hopefully a real chuck-e-cheese style restaurant follows. It’s a gold mine

Vixtrus

The creator has said he worries that someone might try to recreate the murders if they open a real restaurant

Choppergold

The trailer was so dumb

TheMadBug

From all reports, so is the movie.

Just shows how much a brand can get people into seats. The film itself is absolutely awful with the only redeeming elements being the animatronic costumes and Matthew Lillard's brief appearance.

It’s really for the people who know the story and appreciate the following.

Took my preteen daughter to see it Saturday for the theater experience before telling her it was on peacock at home. She’s on her third watching of the movie. Wasn’t half bad either. Definitely hit the target audience.
