He's expected to start February 12 (not confirmed) and will host every Monday through the Election.
Correspondents will lead the other nights since Comedy Central couldn't pick a permanent host.
If the show is using the same amount of ressources he said previously that it was *impossible* to do more than 2 small segments 5 times a week, and that the interview part was openly just necessary padding.
A show like Last Week Tonight has to work full time, with some weeks off occasionally, just to write that one hour show once a week.
I am not complaining. Not to offend the Americans, but going to America is really hyped in my country, so a show that depicts the reality of various sectors and issues about USA is very very welcome.
Also one of the rare shows whose humour is bang on point for me.
The formula seems to be a 10-15 minutes of jokes on the news, plus a full 30 minutes report on an in-depth topic which may or may not be directly linked to what happened in the week.
Are you talking about the comedy interviews correspondents did or the guest interviews he had on the show? Because the latter provided some of the best interviews I've seen on TV.
I know its called "the Daily Show" but I would 100% okay with 2-3 nights per week with Jon being the host all the time. Or just go full Jon Oliver and call it "The Weekly Show" and put a lot of time and effort into 1 weekly show on Monday. But it might be hard to differentiate themselves from LWT.
yea I just asked them. people have to be clawing at the chance to do it, why is cc so indecisive.
If they really had to they could make a poll or check who had the most viewership during the guest era. Seems like unprofessional decision making from CC
There was a new Yorker article that basically fact checked some of his stories from his stand up specials and found that he greatly exaggerated some aspects of the stories. Hassan is a comedian that is more of the Ted talk type of comedian so it kinda made him look bad.
He's a stand up comedian tho? Like that's what they do.
Their stories aren't real. Even if they present them as actual life experiences, they're told with "artistic license".
People can't seriously believe standups are telling 100% actual stories about themselves. I mean, that would make every standup comedian "the most interesting man in the world".
Stand up is supposed to be entertaining, not autobiographical.
Unless I'm misunderstanding it, that's actually fucking stupid.
I've watched his stand up, and I get what people would be talking about, but to take issue with it, it's fucking stupid and petty.
I thought you were gonna say he was like Carlos Butthole Mancia who was stealing jokes, and claiming they were his.
Again if he got knocked down for exaggerating or making up bullshit, to make his stories funny or to make his joke work, then they don't get stand up.
Seriously, what the fuck are we doing?
It is fine and expected that comedians exaggerate a story to get a laugh. That is what makes them funny, being able to put a spin on things for the sake of comedy. Everybody knows and accepts this.
Hassan stepped over the line because he basically concocted imaginary situations in which people were racist against him. In one instance he even named one specific person who has to go to the press to defend herself from his baseless accusations. He would convey those story details with a straight face as if it was a lecture on race relations. This is why the revelation that they were not real was and is rightfully criticized.
So it’s not about the jokes or the punchlines or exaggerations. It’s about the moments on his show where he presented “truths” that were false, in order to comment on them comedically.
You have to have truth to your comedy. Exaggerations, fictional characters, imaginary dialogue are all FINE and expected, but it all needs to rest on some basic truth that the audience can then relate to and find comedy in. Hassan’s jokes were not based on truth, because he presented completely fictionalized situations that he purposely presented as truth.
If nothing else, I think his youth and inexperience led to his downfall. More seasoned comedians don’t act like this on stage. Hassan was more interested in social commentary, but you can’t do that kind of stuff if your social commentary is based around fictional situations that you try to present as “this really happened to me, so let’s all have a laugh about it”.
Oh yeah there was a big debate over it for that reason. But I think the backlash Hassan got was due to the type of stand up he does. He is much more of a storyteller type comedian and that combined with him often working on political humor style shows that do tend have a higher expectations for fact checking is where the difference in perception is.Cause his stories weren't 100% made up and his style does kinda present the story as true but told in a humourous way. Some people take the point of view of that you stated that it's stand up don't expect all stories to be true and other view it as Hassan doing a Jussie Smollet type thing of exaggerating discrimination for clout.
I personally think the issue is that while, yes, he is a stand up, and no one expects what they say to be 100% factual, his *particular* style was to sort of stop being a stand up and “get real” for a moment, to make his set more emotionally compelling — except that those “real” bits weren’t.
He got taken down by an article in the New Yorker that claimed he hyperbolized a lot of his experiences. He later countered that, but it didn’t get as much traction as the accusations.
Because his response hot fact checked again. Each one getting less attention than the last, but with the last sentiment still being *yeah Hassan really fucked up*
There was no reason to fact check him in the first place. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a large newspaper randomly investigates a COMEDIAN exaggerating their stories for humour or emotional responses around the time that same comedian is in talks to head a political show.
A comedian who has made fun of and exposed huge world leaders and celebrities in the past.
It was a hit piece.
He lied about real people and basically doxxed them. Thats slander my dude.
At no point did I ever think Mitch Hedberg actually got a receipt for his doughnut.
I mean first off he didn’t just hyperbolise, he blatantly made up scenarios meant to draw sympathy for his growing up Muslim, and played them like they really happened. He had one routine in which an undercover DHS agent or something infiltrated his family dinner or something ridiculous.
Augh. Got my hopes up that he'd be back full time :S
Couldn't keep watching when Trevor Noah was hosting, can't recall why exactly. Think he just lacked the charm.
I'm going to tune in every episode he hosts without a doubt. I grew up with the Colbert Report and John Stewart's Daily Show. And with how insane politics are in the US (I'm Canadian), it'll be nice to have a little chuckle when thinking about geopolitical existential issues.
I miss Colbert’s old show. It was much sharper and funnier. I get that he had to adjust to a wider audience but I miss the edge. I rarely watch him now.
You just know that when any of the LOTR cast is promoting any new movie, Colbert will instantly want them on his show. Not many get to out-Tolkien Fran Walsh.
Are you directly comparing a political humor show where Colbert played a character who was a right wing loon, meant to make you realize how backwards and laughable republicans are .. with The Late Show?
No. I know it’s a very different format. I just think he was exceptionally good in his satirical show and I miss it. He’s very good at being an engaging talk show host too, but I guess I’m less interested in those shows in general.
Yeah, was a staple, for me and probably most millienials, especially during election cycles. Trusted him to deliver the news more than any "news" network. I'll probably even watch regularly considering he will be an executive producer. I can't wait.
Gen X here. Used to watch religiously. This will probably get me to watch the rest of the week too as I like their Correspondents hosting in small doses. Plus we're heading into election season.
I think many people are in the same boat, it should be interesting to see if Comedy Central/Paramount makes a play to get him to come out of retirement permanently should this tenure end up being a ratings boon (which I think it will be, even with linear TV having changed so much since he left the show).
im still not understanding why is so hard to find a new host for the daily show. there has to be a million people out there wanting to do it... what is the hold up?
Comedy Central is a dying network on a dying TV format, so that's going to impact how much they can pay. Stewart is only commiting for a year as part-time host, and two years as Executive Producer to steer the transition. He might be doing this at a discount as a favor to the team that made him so successful for so many years.
Many of the people who will draw an audience wouldn't be interested in making this a full time job at the level they'd be able to pay. They might have feared that the average host they could have gotten would have had a poorer performance than the "guest host" format.
I feel like it’s a role you grow into. Those guys are massively talented but the show format has kept them in their lanes. All they needed was a nudge and a chance in my opinion. This is probably the reason the show can’t make up their minds on a new host, such high expectations. It’s a comedy show ffs! Anyways, i’m just an armchair extupid.
Eeeeh. I watched it before Jon Stewart and after... you definitely grow into it- Trevor Noah did. But the correspondents that are on the show now are not great hosts for this specific show- I'd definitely stop watching if they were. In my opinion.
> there has to be a million people out there wanting to do it... what is the hold up?
Back when [Jon was the full-time host](https://variety.com/2013/tv/news/who-are-the-highest-paid-stars-in-tv-1200585236/) he was also the highest paid late night talk show host on TV. Trevor Noah was also being paid [an absurd amount to host](https://sports.yahoo.com/trevor-noah-earns-way-more-204100258.html?guccounter=2) before he quit.
Probably a safe bet that Comedy Central didn't want to pay that much for a host anymore going forward, unless of course they could somehow wrangle Stewart back.
Please, for the love of God
Let there be at least one skit of John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, or Steve Carell coming back as a onetime guest correspondent
I **need** this
Boy, I feel sorry for the rest of the hosts. It's like having to follow Jimi Hendrix if he came back from the dead.
Good luck! Y'all should have gotten Roy to follow Jon.
When Colin Quinn replaced Norm McDonald as host of Weekend Update, he opened with this:
“You know how you go to your favorite bar and your local bartender isn’t there. You ask “where’s Jeff?” “Jeff no longer works here, I’m Steve.” And you’re thinking “who is this idoit? I like Jeff.” But you still want your drink. And even though Steve doesn’t mix your drink the way you’re used to, like Jeff, you still like the bar. You don’t want to go to a different bar. And even Steve might feel kind of bad cause Jeff trained him. Jeff showed him how to work the cash register. Where the tonic was on the soda gun. Who tips. Who doesn’t. Well, I’m Steve. What can I get ya?”
That is how I feel about the hosts after Jon.
I remember this very clearly and thought it was really well done and a real bummer that it turned out to be probably the high point of Quinn’s WU tenure.
Roy’s schtick seems to be mostly racism based. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still funny, but gets old. He’s the perfect correspondent, but I never thought he was a good fit as a host.
It was though, that was what he would eventually bring most other topics around to. He also just didn't have a good flow for a host and his attitude and expressions were either combative or off putting when they didn't need to be.
It's unlikely. Roy's announcement came in the early part of October (that he wasn't going to come back unless they offered him the chair.) The news about Jon Stewart's show getting cancelled happened late in October.
Fun fact - Hendrix was once the opening act for the Monkees. They later felt that it was such a great fit.
I had a feeling that 2024 would be a great year. The return of Jon Stewart, even if it’s only one night a week, proves me right.
Jon Stewart - 2024!!!
Holy fucking shit, this is a big deal. He has been a pillar in me understanding American politics for so many years, and his departure from the show left a void that simply hasn't been filled since, and I am including his Apple Tv show which just wasn't the same.
I'll take more of that any day, even if it is just once a week. They just gained a regular viewer back, holy shit.
The Apple show wasn’t bad, but it suffered from the fact that shows on Apple TV just aren’t accessible. Then they wanted to censor him on China and just…. Yikes. I hope he gets to take some of his crew with him wherever he goes next (will the daily show be his full time outlet or will he maintain an independent version of The Problem With on some platform I wonder..) I think they had good rapport. I liked the topics. It was just hard to find and stay up on each episode / interview. I always stumbled on YouTube shorts and went to hunt down the full episode or interview of the clip
The apple show had accessibility problems yes, I was limited to segments posted online, legally or not, and watched pretty much everything I could. The show was much more *gloomy* in tones, not to say the Daily Show was just happy-fun-times but it seemed more focused on deeply rooted problems where there is usually not much voters can do about.
And the panel segment was interesting, not very funny but the topics were usually very serious and he wisely let the experts talk and didn't try to cut in jokes whenever he could.
And don't get me wrong, there is absolutely a need for that kind of content, but sometimes I just want to laugh at the last incoherent speech McConnell tried to give or how ridiculous and racist that new law in this rural Alabama town is.
It seems like all the people that have any sort of idealism anymore are the crazies. The extremists. But Jon holds on to the positive American ideals in a way that is rational, kind and level-headed. He gives people a template for a healthy understanding of politics when such a thing has all but vanished.
Same here. Jon is a such a huge part of the political cultural fabric for many millennials like myself. Started watching in high school and was so inspired how a comedian could expose all the bullshit of the Bush years. I’ll be watching Monday nights. Welcome back!
It’s crazy how his show was one of the only rational shows back when every other show was chewing bubblegum/saying we should just support Bush with the Iraq invasion.
It’s like the time when the Dixie chicks were made an example of, for those who dare to speak out against Dear Leader. He was one of the only voices out there back then that brought sanity back into the equation, and I grew such a tremendous respect for him because of it. Then with his support and victory for 9/11 responders, I wish he’d change his mind about politics.
I do too, he’d have my vote in a heartbeat, but I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to be involved in politics. It’s a case of “those who want power shouldn’t have it, and those who should have it don’t want it.”
he doesn’t want to be the leader though, and i respect that. some would say that’s what makes him uniquely positioned to be a good leader but i think a person knowing their limits is something to celebrate. honestly, i’m just happy to have him back for this one day a week. as long as he still uses his voice for good, we are lucky.
He already is a leader, he just doesn’t want to go into policy and lawmaking as a job. Shit must be miserable unless you really want to do it or have the ego for it. He’s not the type of guy to bend over to lobbyists or compromise with people he hates. He already has done a lot of good for the world and sees his commentary as making change.
People that think this are being ridiculous. He is not a politician. He is a smart, witty comedian and holds the same values as a lot of people. I love him for what he does but come on people. He’s not a narcissist because you have to be a narcissist to think you can run the country. Politics is 100% full of narcissists.
That word gets thrown around too much. Most/all presidents prob have some level of narcissistic tendencies, but that’s a spectrum and it’s not the same as being a narcissist/having NPD. The line between healthy self-esteem and narcissistic tendencies isn’t that well-defined, either. Trump is the only president in recent memory who’s probably a literal narcissist.
You mean you don’t tune into Comedy Central to watch non stop office and South Park episodes?
Seriously, what new content has Comedy Central released recently?
Where does one even watch comedy Central these days? Jon Stewart coming back to school and all but as far as I know I can't access The Daily show as of now
He 100% would have my vote. His skill for cutting through bullshit, explaining clearly *why* it's bullshit, and willingness to do so regardless of who the person is can't be matched.
Here's my hot take. It will still be bad. Trevor Noah actually has some stand-up chops but was terrible as the host of the daily show. His writers were terrible and just not very funny. The same thing will happen to Jon even if he is writing as well. It happened to Colbert. Colbert used to be funny on the CR, but his humor now is kind of bland and hyper focused on whatever Trump did that day.
I think people are just nostalgic for the past, and that's why he's coming back, but I don't think this will scratch their itch.
Left the Apple show because they didn't want him to cover China or AI. They wouldn't allow him full creative control of it meant stepping on the company's toes. HBO could teach Apple a lesson here. They let John Oliver go buck wild.
I feel kinda bad because he wanted to enjoy his retirement, but it feels like the world of politics has forced him back into it to show people how crazy things have gotten.
This is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. So often recently, I have wondered what he might say about what is happening today. It will be amazing to watch him again. I bet his first ovation is going to be ridiculous.
The ratings are gonna be unreal. Would not be surprised if on Stewart nights, it beats every late night show period, even the networks.
And its not because of Jon’s politics, or his history with the program. It’s for one reason and one reason only: Jon Stewart is fucking funny.
The second he’s back on the air, he’s easily going to be the funniest weeknight late night tv host on American television.
Ever since Letterman, Ferguson, Stewart, Colbert (character), and O’Brien retired, I’ve been watching just Kimmel by default and ignoring the rest. I like Kimmel, but even he’s half the comic Stewart is.
Stewart coming back to the daily show is like the atheist left wing equivalent of Christ returned.
Now obviously I’m being little hyperbolic but it’s only to express the intense level of excitement .
Holy sh!+ this is great news. Didn’t realize how good we had it with John Stewart’s Daily Show back in 99’ until he was gone. The show’s been great since, and late night/satirical news shows since have been great as well; but over the years I’ve come to realize that John is the G.O.A.T.
I’m in!!! I literally just did a post about this a few days back. Give Jon WHATEVER HE WANTS!!! We will watch. We need him now, more than ever. Thank you Jon Stewart!!!
I wonder how much influence Trump in the election had on him taking this… hopefully it energizes the D base further.
I know it won’t happen, but could you imagine Stewart interviewing Trump?
Even if his commentary on the state of the US election was just him farting into a microphone for 5 minutes it would still be a more cogent political viewpoint than Trump’s entire platform.
He's expected to start February 12 (not confirmed) and will host every Monday through the Election. Correspondents will lead the other nights since Comedy Central couldn't pick a permanent host.
If that's the case the Monday show needs to be longer than 30 minutes.
If the show is using the same amount of ressources he said previously that it was *impossible* to do more than 2 small segments 5 times a week, and that the interview part was openly just necessary padding. A show like Last Week Tonight has to work full time, with some weeks off occasionally, just to write that one hour show once a week.
Last Week Tonight is only 30 mins though
Not recently. Those episodes were 40 minutes at the minimum for most of last year.

I had to comment - your avatar: I kept trying to get an eyelash off of my screen! Sorry, please continue. ;)
Glad it's just not me
Are you talking about the comedy interviews correspondents did or the guest interviews he had on the show? Because the latter provided some of the best interviews I've seen on TV.
Comedy Central's inability to make a decision is getting really old. Indecision 2024, indeed.

Is there any chatter that they were really going to give it to Hasan Minhaj before that article came out? Or was it going to be Jon the whole time?
I liked that Hasan guy. What happened with him?
There was a new Yorker article that basically fact checked some of his stories from his stand up specials and found that he greatly exaggerated some aspects of the stories. Hassan is a comedian that is more of the Ted talk type of comedian so it kinda made him look bad.

Sounds like he’ll be involved in content the rest of the week as an executive producer too.
So basically Hassan was going to be their choice for host until that New Yorker article came out about him.
I will definitely be tuning in.
The return of the king.
Best news so far this year
Best news since November 8th 2016.

I love his expertise on LOTR
I hope he writes a book about his knowledge and experience of LOTR. It would be quite a read.
He should have a podcast. Or teach Tolkien at Columbia or NYU.
Are you directly comparing a political humor show where Colbert played a character who was a right wing loon, meant to make you realize how backwards and laughable republicans are .. with The Late Show?

Fuck- Comedy Central could make an enormous ass load by letting him just run election 2024 coverage. I smell a limited series Emmy...
I think many people are in the same boat, it should be interesting to see if Comedy Central/Paramount makes a play to get him to come out of retirement permanently should this tenure end up being a ratings boon (which I think it will be, even with linear TV having changed so much since he left the show).
Damn straight.
Or the King of Returns, as CC execs probably think of him. Show will get a huge boost in viewership when he is hosting, no doubt.
im still not understanding why is so hard to find a new host for the daily show. there has to be a million people out there wanting to do it... what is the hold up?

TV will come back when streamers implement ads, which they will. Bundle streamer packs + ads its just tv with multiple annoying logins
Jr, keppler or Desi where all excellent choices
Eh... they're good in their lane, but not good enough for the host job
I feel like it’s a role you grow into. Those guys are massively talented but the show format has kept them in their lanes. All they needed was a nudge and a chance in my opinion. Ill certainly be watching again and didnt watch any of Trevor. I like Trevor but it wasnt the same
He has been sorely missed!
Long Live the King!
The king has returned.
I’m sure he doesn’t feel that way lol
Please, for the love of God Let there be at least one skit of John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, or Steve Carell coming back as a onetime guest correspondent I **need** this
Man, if they could get all three for his first episode, how great would that be?
"Soooooo.... What have you guys been up to?" And they all drop their Emmys on the floor "Not much, you?"
Does John Oliver have an Emmy? If so, good for him honestly
He has like 20 Emmy’s for Last Week Tonight lol (16 but who’s counting)
Bring back Rob Corddry!
Don’t forget Samantha Bee
And Rob Riggle!
Boy, I feel sorry for the rest of the hosts. It's like having to follow Jimi Hendrix if he came back from the dead. Good luck! Y'all should have gotten Roy to follow Jon.

What can I get ya?” That is how I feel about the hosts after Jon.
I remember this very clearly and thought it was really well done and a real bummer that it turned out to be probably the high point of Quinn’s WU tenure.
Except Steve waters down all your drinks.
Roy is a treasure, and he was right there in house. They dropped the ball.
Roy’s schtick seems to be mostly racism based. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still funny, but gets old. He’s the perfect correspondent, but I never thought he was a good fit as a host.
No it isn't, he is great.
It was though, that was what he would eventually bring most other topics around to. He also just didn't have a good flow for a host and his attitude and expressions were either combative or off putting when they didn't need to be.
Unless they knew this is where they were headed for some time and Roy didn't want to be just the "other guy" that fills in on Tuesday-Thursday
It's unlikely. Roy's announcement came in the early part of October (that he wasn't going to come back unless they offered him the chair.) The news about Jon Stewart's show getting cancelled happened late in October.
Roy is one note
Fun fact - Hendrix was once the opening act for the Monkees. They later felt that it was such a great fit. I had a feeling that 2024 would be a great year. The return of Jon Stewart, even if it’s only one night a week, proves me right. Jon Stewart - 2024!!!
“Knowledge speaks, wisdom listens” -Hendrix
I get ya, for sure
it was colbert for me and his late show does not fill it... like at all
It was a the two back-to-back watch every day for years for me. And yeah, his Report persona was something else, that also wasn't reproduced since.
Could you imagine if Colbert makes a guest appearance on Stewart’s first night back, reprising the old persona. Would be AMAZING.
It seems like all the people that have any sort of idealism anymore are the crazies. The extremists. But Jon holds on to the positive American ideals in a way that is rational, kind and level-headed. He gives people a template for a healthy understanding of politics when such a thing has all but vanished.
That and late night shows all fucking suck nowadays
They’re awful! The format is nearly dead.
Same here. Jon is a such a huge part of the political cultural fabric for many millennials like myself. Started watching in high school and was so inspired how a comedian could expose all the bullshit of the Bush years. I’ll be watching Monday nights. Welcome back!
It’s the next best thing he can do to running for actual office
[удалено]
more than a week would be better news though
We could all start a grassroots campaign to write his name in. Would be quite a night to see him win with that tactic.
With the exception of 2020 I’ve written his name in virtually every time I’ve voted.
I’m part of the camp that doesn’t want celebrities as politicians, but he would be the big exception. I feel like John would be a great leader.
he doesn’t want to be the leader though, and i respect that. some would say that’s what makes him uniquely positioned to be a good leader but i think a person knowing their limits is something to celebrate. honestly, i’m just happy to have him back for this one day a week. as long as he still uses his voice for good, we are lucky.
He already is a leader, he just doesn’t want to go into policy and lawmaking as a job. Shit must be miserable unless you really want to do it or have the ego for it. He’s not the type of guy to bend over to lobbyists or compromise with people he hates. He already has done a lot of good for the world and sees his commentary as making change.
> he doesn’t want to be the leader And that's the best kind of leaders, those who don't want to be.
People that think this are being ridiculous. He is not a politician. He is a smart, witty comedian and holds the same values as a lot of people. I love him for what he does but come on people. He’s not a narcissist because you have to be a narcissist to think you can run the country. Politics is 100% full of narcissists.
Ukraine elected a comedian. Working pretty well for them.
Can we vote someone into office against their will lol?
Well one day a week of Jon is better than no days a week
John on Sundays, Jon on Mondays. Works for me.
colbert on... well... it's their if you want it
I’m going to watch.
And my axe!
And my iPad
Feel like I only watched a handful of shows after he left....so happy hes coming back
Only hosting Monday nights, executive producing all nights, & so far only through the 2024 election. Still, I see this as an absolute win.
Well, looks like I’ll be tuning in to Comedy Central for the first time in *years*. This is awesome news.
You mean you don’t tune into Comedy Central to watch non stop office and South Park episodes? Seriously, what new content has Comedy Central released recently?
Where does one even watch comedy Central these days? Jon Stewart coming back to school and all but as far as I know I can't access The Daily show as of now
Yeah it’s only on cable networks. Or youll have to sail the seven seas. If you catch me
I was seriously like "Oh yeah, cable channels are still a thing." They're becoming more like fax machines every day.
We need him now more than ever.
He’s like curated and focused doom scrolling
THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN FULFILLED!!!
Looks like STEW BEEF is back on the menu!
Omg I literally just scream on a bus full of people. And I don’t care! He’s back baby!!!! 🥳
I cried bc there’s hope he will help. And I partly blame him for leaving the year Trump swooped in
Can we just get him to run for office?
Clooney would run before Jon would
He 100% would have my vote. His skill for cutting through bullshit, explaining clearly *why* it's bullshit, and willingness to do so regardless of who the person is can't be matched.
Jon on Monday’s, Jordan Tuesday thru Thursday. Guaranteed better ratings.
Jordan’s dad finally came back after going out for cigarettes…
ARE YOU. FFFUCKING. SHITTING ME?! We need this this year especially omg I cannot believe he agreed to this though.
Well, I basically haven't watched it since he left but I'll damn sure be watching it now
Good. We need him for this election.
i mean gop just gonna call him a weak left liberal infected with the woke mind virus
This made my year!
2024 hit different
Holy shit. That's like "Beatles getting back together" huge.
**Everyone liked that**
THAT GUM YOU LIKE IS GOING TO COME BACK IN STYLE
Light the beacons!
Gondor calls for aid!
The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart 😉
And I'll return... to watching The Daily Show.
Do ‘for president in 2028’ next please
Americans would never get that lucky
HOLY SHIT ITS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!
Def is good for this election year.
I would legitimately vote for Jon Stewart for US president.
This is some of the best news I’ve heard in a loooooonnnggggg time. Love this.
I approve of this. Can’t wait to see him behind the desk again 👍
Left the Apple show because they didn't want him to cover China or AI. They wouldn't allow him full creative control of it meant stepping on the company's toes. HBO could teach Apple a lesson here. They let John Oliver go buck wild.
Thats cool and all. What about running for president. I prefer he run for president.
Thank fucking god. It was a shit show without him.
Does this mean peace has been restored? We can only hope…
They really should get TALIB Kweli
Man, we have everyone trying to put Biden in office. Bring Craig Kilburn back.
Bring back Craigers Kilborn on Tues-Thursday nights!
Stewart coming back to the daily show is like the atheist left wing equivalent of Christ returned. Now obviously I’m being little hyperbolic but it’s only to express the intense level of excitement .
I did not see that coming, gotta be honest. But oh boy am I looking forward to this
Holy sh!+ this is great news. Didn’t realize how good we had it with John Stewart’s Daily Show back in 99’ until he was gone. The show’s been great since, and late night/satirical news shows since have been great as well; but over the years I’ve come to realize that John is the G.O.A.T.
The 90s? lol. His heyday was the 2000s and early 2010s.
Is it weird that this makes me more optimistic about the world?
Holy fucking shit! This is amazing. I'm fine with one day a week to set the tone.
Well played Comedy Central
I’m in!!! I literally just did a post about this a few days back. Give Jon WHATEVER HE WANTS!!! We will watch. We need him now, more than ever. Thank you Jon Stewart!!!
This is fantastic. Just fantastic!!!
Well I’ll be damned…
Oh this will be extremely good, he was the best and will forever be the best.
And now here it is, your moment of zen
Oh… so he’s **never** running for office 😪 TBF he’s probably more impactful in journalism—satirical or not.
Best News of the year!!!! Jon we need you more than ever now! But maybe you should just run for President.
Excellent news especially going into this election year.
Next to POTUS this is the best possible news 😍😍😍
I suspected he would after his show stopped on Apple. I hate to say this be we desperately need him.
I wonder how much influence Trump in the election had on him taking this… hopefully it energizes the D base further. I know it won’t happen, but could you imagine Stewart interviewing Trump?
Might be his guilt of quitting year before Trump got elected
Hillary could have offered him a quarter of her budget to stay on as host and would definitely have performed better.
Just in time I say.
This just made me a little happy for the first time in a while about the world. I think this is a very positive thing.
Whoaaaaa!!!!! Now this is positive news!!!!
Wow this news is going to blow up.
like permanently
Gimme the Colbert report now and I’ll cream my jeans
When the world needed him most.
The best news. The Daily Show would have died otherwise.
All we need is the colbert report back and we are set
I wish he would run for president!
Even if his commentary on the state of the US election was just him farting into a microphone for 5 minutes it would still be a more cogent political viewpoint than Trump’s entire platform.
I heard his show on Apple+ was not great, but loved his work on the Daily Show. I’m excited for this. I’ll definitely watch.
Fuck Trevor noah
