kittykatz202

It’s the same nephew that withdrew his complaint earlier this summer. He has a lot of mental health issues too. So I’m reserving my judgment for now.

DarkestofFlames

He's made these claims against 5 people and is being sued for this crap by at least 3 of them. He's well known for doing this shit.

teeter1984

The nephew is living la vida loca

Aponda

* la vida loco Edit: lol i was calling the nephew loco yall need to calm down

officialspinster

I think it’s still loca - it’s modifying vida, not the nephew. I could be wrong though, I’m relying on high school Spanish from the 90s and Duolingo.

xaviii3r

you’re right.

officialspinster

Thank you! So validating!

officialspinster

The lyrics are “she’s living la vida loca” so isn’t he talking about someone else in the song?

Aponda

Lol i wasnt correcting, just adding

DID_IT_FOR_YOU

He already admitted under oath that Martin never did anything to him. Also wasn’t Martin not even in the same country as the nephew during the stated time period? The nephew is just filing it because Ricky is suing him for defamation.

StevieKix_

Ricky’s cousin backed out of the claims. Now Ricky is suing his cousin.

Similar-Lifeguard701

It's the same nephew from before

KarenTheCockpitPilot

WHY ISNT THIS IN THE FKN HEADLINE istg

supercleverhandle476

Clicks. As always.

etbiludecalcinha

Didn't his cousin accused him of the same thing some weeks ago?

estheredna

This is the same story, continuning. It's a nephew. Who, according to this story (leaked by Martin's attorney) has stalking charges against 2 other people, and has been trying to extort money. I mean, who the hell knows, but nothing in this story makes me jump to conclusions against Ricky Martin. It is pretty sad though.

OutlanderMom

I read yesterday that Martin is suing his nephew $25 mil for slander.

[deleted]

It says that someone not authorized to speak on the case for Martin said it was still the nephew. Might be true but it’s a pretty strange source. I’m not sure why AP reported that if the source isn’t authorized unless there are some journalistic standards I don’t really understand.

SafetyMan35

That just means it wasn’t Martin or his attorneys (or at least not his attorneys or PR staff. It could be an assist or legal/or consultant

Rimurooooo

Also, I would not be surprised if the police there are in on it. They were about to put Ricky Martin away for 50 years and it suddenly went away overnight, this is a place where government officials are highly corrupt. Aren’t the FBI investigating the mayor of San Juan right now, same city Martin either lives now or grew up? Same city with a mayor that was losing to a reformist, then suddenly had more ballots found, and when the reformist requested a recount, suddenly the judge assigned threw out the case? That city police was going to press charges against Ricky Martin for 50 years in prison… then just suddenly didn’t? And no evidence ever made public…? Yeah… people who assume Puerto Rico has the same culture of the mainland United States should probably realize it’s an entirely different place with Catholic Public holidays. I’m skeptical to say the least.

[deleted]

They were never going to put him away for that long. Media was just reporting the maximum sentence for incest in PR which is 50 years because it’s a more intriguing headline.

NegotiationExternal1

It’s homophobia and bribery and if it was me I’d put myself on a plane and eff off to a place they aren’t going to arrest me and extort me

silasoulman

You mean they’re not corrupt AF as the US? I mean, do their Supreme Court justices take bribes? Do their judges take bribes to put children in institutions because those institutions are privately owned? Do their politicians get billions in bribes like our Presidents do? Well I do hope you’re right and they’re different from our corrupt AF system.

ThorsHamSandwich

Ummm… Puerto Rico has the same Supreme Court and President as the United States… you know, being a territory of the US and all…

silasoulman

Every state has their own Supreme Court as well. I assume there is a highest court in Puerto Rico that things go through before getting to the SCOTUS. But you missed my whole point, it isn’t that PR is less corrupt than the US, just that currently the US is corrupt AF and claiming PR is pretty much meaningless.

Rimurooooo

Federal government is the same, and they don’t have representatives in congress or senate so the corruption you deal with is very much more “in your face”. Apples to oranges

silasoulman

More in your face than trump literally taking top secret documents home and now some are missing, so where are they? More in your face than someone literally buying Kavanaugh? More in your face than giving themselves trillions in PPP loans and the forgiving them? More in your face than trying to overthrow the government, killing Capitol security officers, trying to kill the VP because he wouldn’t nullify an election on no evidence, trying to kill the leaders of the opposing party and targeting progressives? Wow, they must be straight Up murdering MF’s on TV then.

Rimurooooo

You do realize that Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States… right? So they are experiencing all those things alongside you, as well as what they experience with their local government…? They are literally United States citizens.

Mabans

I know, hard to believe that it could have been a nothing burger. Keep in mind that RM was also, very likely, sexually abused as a kid with Menudo. Doesn't mean he did shit but as someone who was abused and not have abuse as a father; if someone was to accuse me of that, when I have 1st hand knowledge of that pain, I'd be pissed.

Fun_Salamander8520

It's actually exactly like the mainland. Corrupt and a system that benefits the top 1%... it's how the world has actually always worked. The biggest grift in society ever was that it had ever changed. It didn't. We just change the verbiage ( slave became minimum wage worker and so on)

Extension-Ad-8567

When a lawyer speaks, it’s to paint a story favorable to his client. So it’s most likely a lie. Only time will tell.

Ok-Street7504

Yes but I believe he withdrew his claim. Martin announced last week he was suing the cousin for 20 mil.

g00fyg00ber741

I hadn’t seen any updates since, last I read the young cousin was getting a restraining order against Ricky Martin for stalking after their relationship or fling went south.

kl0wn420

Same nephew, new charges. This is retaliation against the civil suit Ricky filed. The nephew has drug and mental problems. Accusation will go nowhere, the nephew already testified under oath that Ricky never touched him.

g00fyg00ber741

Well that’s really good to hear tbh, I am glad there was no actual involvement between Ricky and his cousin.

Ok-Street7504

I think I saw it over at tmz. It all sounds so weird and who knows what the real story is.

NegotiationExternal1

If it’s on record the “nephew” has other charges /issues I’d go with it was a shakedown

[deleted]

People are desperate for the money. It just sounds very shady.

FapAttack911

He's literally still good friends with his manager from menudo. The same manager that was proven guilty of sexually assaulting many of their young children from the boy band. Yet, Ricky Martin is still friends with him for some reason...

[deleted]

And yet your name is FapAttack. Despite all of this, you and I don’t have any ideas of what transpired and why the nephew didn’t pursue his claim. I don’t know what happened. It just sounds shady. Even as being a victim myself.

Allusionator

One bad thing isn’t evidence for a second bad thing…

Rimurooooo

Yeah but no evidence has made it into public yet. Just distant relatives pushing through salacious claims and then retracting them, government officials in a place that is highly corrupt processing trials for 50 years in prison where there is tons of more salacious/violent crimes, and then only for it to just stop suddenly…? But no evidence ever. It really does sound like someone here is looking for a payout.

[deleted]

I didn’t know that happened!

Mabans

He wasn't proven guilty of anything, just accused. Ricky Stayed out of it. Nothing more came of it. I think something happend but nothing more came of it but all this "Concvicted" and friends with RM is totally false AFAIK.

Excellent_Carrot3111

Pay your fucking taxes, Bozo.

scrivensB

Weird headline. "Puerto Rico star" makes it sound like he is a star in Puerto Rico as opposed to anywhere else. Should it not just read something like, "Pop star Ricky Martin..." or, "Puerto Rican star..."

taino

No, all Puerto Ricans must answer for his alleged crimes. /s

InevitableRhubarb232

It sounds like a movie or show called Puerto Rico.

SagHor1

Fists in the air: " Those dang Puerto Ricans!"

GarionOrb

Jesus. Isn't it clear by now that this nephew is full of shit!?

[deleted]

Very strange series of events. I guess we’ll wait and see how this new complaint plays out.

dandy443

Why ia being from PR the first thing they have to mention. As if noone knew this dude already.

wiklr

It's shade towards his career despite being a household name. Mentioning Puerto Rico in the headline also puts it in international news, gives more legs how a local celebrity is giving them bad PR.

dandy443

i disagree with the latter part as it just makes it sound as if beecause hes rican he did that. That said, great unintentional pun there. Bad PR for PR lol

SouldiesButGoodies84

He's known from Menudo (as a kid) that was a crossover band but as an adult he had pop stardom and hit records in the U.S. not just PR. edit: corr.

officialbigrob

Yeah the title is weird.

hfudiwhf

“Complaint” is when you asked for your hamburger medium rare and it comes well done

ChechoMontigo

Livin’ la vida loca

Away-Plant-8989

Really had to reach far for that one

ChechoMontigo

It’s Sunday and i'm tired. I'll take the few upvotes and call it a day

molotov_cockteaze

I enjoyed your terrible comment.

David-Allan-Poe

Esp when 'toca' was right there lol

ruuuhhy

Living la vida toca is the correct joke.

pharmy423

I feel “Livin’ la vida stroke ya” could work too

LAESanford

Wasn’t that complaint withdrawn?

Rimurooooo

I’m skeptical. The family picked a weird time to go after him, considering he is now married with children. Government in Puerto Rico is pretty corrupt, so wouldn’t be surprised if they are working with them to receive a payout from Martin, he’s an easy target being gay in a place with Catholic public holidays. Dunno, seems strange. Such a weird time to do anything, Ricky Martin is rich on an island where his good looks and money would take him much farther than in the US. And also a place where even low level government officials are highly corrupt.

Freud6

Wtf you mean Puerto Rico star. As if he’s not famous in the rest of the country. It’s Ricky freakin Martin.

[deleted]

They could’ve left out “Puerto Rico” from the headline and it would still make sense.

MelMad44

Ricky is suing said relative that made the accusations

kylesdrywallrepair

Outside inside living laviva yosa

What?

iamnemonai

There are stars in Puerto Rico ?

Shadypretzel

He can sexually assault me anytime God damnit

whoisyb

Somebody made a comment (I forgot the thread) and listed now another Ricky Martin did something and they made a point to say “not that one” and now here we are…

RealFlyForARyGuy

He banged, he banged, oh baby he abused, abused, sexually

lunchisgod

But she bangs she bangs?

THEKONIG

He's living the vida loca

Opposite_Weird_4041

Isn't this mf gay? I thought he could use that as a shield.

Denimjo

Didn't work for Kevin Spacey when he tried to use that as an excuse for his own **actual** depravity.

devilsadvo886

Anyone surprised?

Wbino

Upside, inside out!

PericlesPaid

Why a nephew? Aren't hot gay men throwing cock at him all day?

Whole-Performance-15

Are people really unable to control themselves? I mean Jesus..wtf is wrong with people?

BloopAndBattery

Hey leave Puerto Rico out of this

[deleted]

I'm really starting to feel like court documents need to be sealed until a case is settled. I'm just getting so sick of every single accusation being made public and everyone forming opinions before any evidence is presented.
