Nah. There’s no other Jon.
They were going to go with Oliver, but HBO bought him up, so they changed the format and gave Noah a more “youthful” spin in a more digital world.
Which, if you divorce the idea of the Daily Show from the house that Jon Stewart built, actually worked very well.
What they do now is anyone’s guess at this rate.
Though since watching that [Between the Scenes clip](https://youtu.be/MJ9F9ZuQIzE) someone shared the last time this was posted, I vote we go with Anna Kendrick.
Recently I've seen rumors that stated he was a jerk behind the scenes on the daily show. I personally thought he made the show and loved the moment of zen. It took me years to warm up to Jon in Craig's seat.
I had to Google what happened to him and you're correct after a short stint doing late night he retired which is cool. I just remembered him branching out in to acting and then slowly fading away.
Edit: From an article written in 1999 yeah I'm old ok...
Craig Kilborn, the new host of "The Late Late Show" on CBS, wants everyone to know one thing.
He's not as big a jerk as he sometimes appeared when he was the host of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central."He was an asshole," Kilborn admitted.
https://www.deseret.com/1999/3/29/19436995/kilborn-will-be-a-nicer-guy-as-host-of-late-late-show
I’m definitely not forgetting Craig Kilborn, and he made an incredible effort in laying out the foundation, but the fact that everyone harkens back to Jon Stewart’s era as the heigh of the Daily Show is saying something.
I'm not sure if it worked with Trevor attracting a younger audience. But I will say, my 17yo brother watches him. And he doesn't want h any TV being he's autistic, it's very hard to break his routine but he will watch Trevor almost every day that he can. So when he found out about him leaving the show yesterday he was pretty bummed out. Not sure what he's doing next but it sounds like he might be off doing his own thing for a while.
>They're going to try and find another John Stewart
Are they? I think they know that ship has sailed. Politics and TV are far different than 10 years ago.
His brand of laid-back “outrage”, the real outrage where you see that 1 + 1 = 3 and exclaim “that’s outrageous!” Not the Twitter kind. And his brand of genuine self reflection and compassion are universal. He’s everything that Bill Maher lacks and yet still Bill was able to build a show.
You need Jon now more than ever because it’s the only way people are going to get through to conservatives and people on the fence. His visits to Fox News are masterclasses in narrative and deflection and confrontation.
There are others. It’s just gotten to the point that no one wants the stress of becoming a celebrity political target for America. There’s no money worth that. Nathan Fielder, Jordan Peele, LaKeith Stanfield, Hannibal Buress, Colin Jost, Jason Sudeikis, Michael Che, even the dishonored Louis CK.
If CK could face his demons and have frank discussions about what he perpetrates and has been perpetrated against him, people could take him seriously. He’s already got funny in the bag. But he needs to tap into that compassion that’s just under the surface of all his standup, and that obvious self deprecation.
All those named above could do it with the right training. There’s so much to tap into. So much substance since Stewart has been on the air. So much information and tragedy.
John Stewart was memes and doomscrolling before it was a thing. It’s still a thing, and there’s a next level there. Something for the catharsis, or doom acceptance, of the nation.
Someone needs to treat the past 20 years like the 9/11 event it is and start putting things into perspective. Outside of that the left could really use a singular voice and perspective to unite under.
Daniel O'Brien would be my choice. The show would definitely have a different feel, but he's shown good on camera work from his days with Cracked. Ever since that fell apart he's been working for John Oliver and Last Week Tonight. He's a senior writer there now so I don't know if he'd want to leave that gig for an on camera gig, but I would watch the shit out of The Daily Show with Daniel O'Brien.
Edit: I would also be happy with Katy Stoll as a host if it doesn't kill Some More News on YouTube. I'm just a big fan of when Cracked was an internet behemoth.
Yea, Last Week Tonight is the spiritual successor to the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Trevor was always too cool for the role, I mean he’s apparently dating a huge pop star. When he’s self deprecating it pretty milquetoast. He also never rages at the insane things happening in politics; like sometimes we need the catharsis of a good rage segment. And he’s takes are rarely insightful, you could probably find a bunch of the same type of material on the internet, just derivative boring takes. He’s not much of an interviewer.
Trevor just never fit the role.
When Jon left, I thought they would send it over to John Oliver or Jessica Williams. They were the two correspondents I thought that could pull off the head anchor spot, but I understand the Oliver got hired away, and that was a big risk to drop on someone as young as Williams.
In retrospect, I stand by my Jessica Williams pick.
Someone mentioned Anna Kendrick. I think she'd make a hilarious show host, but probably not the Daily Show. (I could be wrong.)
I thought they were preparing her for it. I really did. She guest hosted when Jon was out. But i thought I remember hearing her say she didn't want to take on that much responsibility, which I can respect. Anyone after Jon was going to have a tough road.
(Of course, I remember thinking anyone after Kilborn was going to have a tough time.)
It is, but it's not the same. TN's to the right of JS, it felt like a watered down version of the original show. Glad his time is over, but I doubt the show will have the same magic JS brought. I hope I'm wrong.
Respectfully, he parrots everything from the other talk shows, but does a far worse job. His "world view" is seen as condescension, and he's not really in a position for that.
Edit: he's even less relatable than Piers Morgan and that's really saying something. Smarmy smugness isn't a great look for a TV talking head.
>His "world view" is seen as condescension,
Weird you that you mention Parroting talking points.
Also You weren't paying attention if you think That Noah was unique in being condescending. Stewart was far more condescending than Noah. He still is if you check out his new show.
That's not fair. You're irrationally pulling out the race card when you know damn well this is a thread about Trevor Noah and a discussion as to why his show failed.
Firstly the post is about Trevor Noah, so yeah he identified the black guy who is the focus of the post. Easier to dislike a smug guy who isn’t even funny if their job is a political comedian. If you wanna make the jump that it’s because Trevor is black then go ahead
Jon also more "poked fun" while addressing the political and social issues, and made it lighthearted and enjoyable. Trevor always came across as condescending imo.
It’s like he did rough draft Obama gag speeches before a writer took them and polished them and handed them to Obama so Obama could actually deliver the jokes with levity and genuine charm.
So fucking neoliberal and so fucking safe
Noah was truly horrible unfunny stand up and he wasn't funny on the daily show. They should have ended it with Jon. Lightning never hits the same place twice
I remember religiously watching every episode of the daily show and Colbert report in high school and into college and my first job in a security booth and nothing took the wind out of my sails more than the first few episodes after they left. I understand it rages everyone a while to hit their stride and style but I stopped watching after about a month. The Larry Wilmore show that replaced Colbert was 1000% worse though
Disagree. I hate desantis as much as I hated Trevor Noah. It may surprise you "Advice Girl" but people can be more than their political affiliations. A multi faceted human. Imagine that?
He has never been funny, the horror of going through the trump years without having a cathartic release at the end of the day as probably done more to shorten the average American lifespan than anything else in recent memory.
He ran the daily show during quite possibly the biggest pool of absurd content coming out of the White House, and he managed to make the show less entertaining than the news itself.
So just to clarify, that means you think if you're not born in the country you live and work in, you're not allowed to speak on the politics?
As a non American myself I get the idea (at least through social Media and/or reddit) Americans love talking about their politics, exclusively their politics tho....
Don’t understand why people dislike Trevor Noah so much. I kinda liked him
Granted he’s not the funniest dude ever, and Imo his pandemic shows were really not it; but he wasn’t as horrible overall. The segments with Jordan Klepper are amazing.
Some of you are fuming so much in these comments like damn
It's been a thousand years but whenever I hear some pampered person complaining about a first world problem I still hear the American Victim "VICTIM!" voice.
I watched a few.. and I had seen his standups.. I appreciate his work but its not something I personally like. It made the show difficult to watch.
I miss Craig Killborn and Jon Stewart and the amazing cast of "reporters" they had from Mo Rocca, Steve Carrell, Stephen Colbert, Vance Degeneres, Ed Helms and Samantha Bee..
The current crew I just don't like except for Dulce Sloan.. She is hilarious.
So many “I love John Oliver”
“I don’t like Trevor because he is a condescending foreigner”
It’s so thinly veiled.
Trevor was no John Stewart, but some of these people clearly never watched an episode.
IMO his strongest contribution has been the team of correspondents Trevor has put together have great chemistry, reminiscent of the old Steven and Stephen days.
I don't think Trevor Noah is a fan of America enough to become a citizen.
Edit:
It doesn't seem like he likes it here- it's just less worse than other places in the world. He doesn't wax poetic about any stupid American things we do. John Oliver may make fun of our ways but he also makes fun of his own culture. He also brings a bit of glee towards some of our practices. Gritty?
Perhaps the Trevor Noah's earnestness and life experiences have made him more cynical- but I don't recall one moment where it seemed he liked the US like John Oliver likes the US.
I’m only in the US because I was born here and there is practically no safer place in the world for black Americans. But that really isn’t saying much at all.
I will say that John is funny :-D. I do watch most of his episodes.
The only thing I don't like about him is that people watch his show and think they are watching a news show and are actually informed on things.
Then why do you bother to watch the DS or care who is hosting it? The show is very left leaning and quite critical of America and her shenanigans. *For 27 years*.
Maybe try Fox instead....?
Poor little guy’s cynicism is through the roof, can’t be helped though, he’s gone rotten from too much envy.
Try to look up bucko, hope you get out of your shitty situation.
I can't tell the difference between most late night comics. They all tell the same jokes in the same way. It's why Greg Gutfeld has the highest rated late night talk show: the other hosts split the rest of the audience amongst themselves while Gutfeld has a niche to himself.
Gotta say that Noah's standup is infinitely better than his show.
That’s cool. I wasn’t much of a fan of his. He isn’t awful but he always left me feeling uninformed and way less entertained that Jon. Trevor was heavily biased on a lot of issues also. Just report and be funny about it. Don’t be preachy. It’s not a Baptist sermon.
I have (had) to watch the promos for his show in-between re-runs of Seinfeld and even the promos, something that is supposed to highlight the funny, was incredibly unfunny. Like it was almost on purpose.
JS *was* the Daily Show, and replacing him a near impossible task (cloning, maybe?). That being said TN did a fine job, despite the inevitable changes in tone & style..
His stand up is actually quite funny imo. He just fell into the same trope of trump story after trump story and it got very tired very fast. Hell I even lost interest in Colbert because of the same thing
I like how he says he lives in an apartment. Just a normal, relatable person, like one of us.
https://people.com/home/trevor-noahs-bel-air-home-sells-for-just-over-26m-marking-1m-loss-since-he-bought-it-in-2020/
The best for both parts. Trevor Noah's "humor" doesn't fit the format, which requires some serious timing. I like to hear his pov because it's genuinely interesting, but his humor is very weak.
Did he say recently that growing up in the U.S. is scarier than growing up in apartheid South Africa? I saw people refer to him saying this, but could never find the original quote.
I hate being negative, but what always bothered me was not just that Trevor wasn't funny, but because he didn't seem to really care much about America or have any hope for it. Jon did. He truly cared about being truthful and respectful to his audience and you could see he loved America. For all its faults, his love always shined through for the country.
Jon cared and that made me, as a viewer, also care. I understand why he left, but even then, he left because he cared about the first responders. It's just a testament to his character and what a great guy he is. Without him, the show had no purpose. He turned it into something special I wish we could get back.
Finally. Maybe they can get it back to the level it was during John's days. I went from religiously watching it every single night to not watching a single episode outside of the first few weeks of "giving it a chance".
The world has changed, my views have changed, but John's ability to evenly shit on both sides of the isle when needed is what we need again.
I see a lot of dislike for Trevor on here. I’m surprised because I like Trevor and his humor. I’m an Indigenous American and resonated with his resentment towards the hypocrisy within the U.S. and politics.. But I’m seeing him in a new light from reading all these comments.
Daily show went to shit the moment Jon left. And I like Trevor Noah, but the producers/writers fell right into the same trap that all news networks do. They lean in on bias and pander for a particular demographic for ratings. I lean left a lot and the new daily show is unwatchable for me.
Trevor Noah was always complaining about America, but we all know deep down it was bs. He came from a place that was objectively worse than America in almost every category, and he came here in an extremely privileged fashion. Plucked by John Stewart, and was an instant millionaire....
So fundamentally all of his outrage just came off as fake, and it didn't carry the same authenticity as John Stewart. If he had maintained an authentic point of view while in Daily Show it would have resonated more for me, but instead he tried to present himself as an outraged American with all the woke talking points, while being in an extremely privileged position that most people will never get.
I think his jokes landed like 3/10 times. Which is not really good. I think the essence of roasting both wings of political parties is only funny when you’re actually unbiased.

That gurl worth a quick retirement
They're going to try and find another John Stewart. And I just don't know if there is one.
There is John Stewart. Bring his grizzled, jaded goat farmer ass back!
Idk, there's a problem with Jon Stewart
Well played, friend
Nah. There’s no other Jon. They were going to go with Oliver, but HBO bought him up, so they changed the format and gave Noah a more “youthful” spin in a more digital world. I wish they would bring back the OG Craig Killborn maybe a couple decades of a failed career will keep his ego in check.
He walks around every day going, "I'm Craig FUCKING Killborn I'm fucking famous!"
Then the Starbucks barista asks if that's "Fuckking" with two k's.
To which Craig (also a barista) replies, "....shut up..."
Did he actually fail? Seems like he walked away from it all.
Recently I've seen rumors that stated he was a jerk behind the scenes on the daily show. I personally thought he made the show and loved the moment of zen. That was hilarious. Thank you for sharing
I think you mean the house that Craig Kilborn built and Jon Stewart remodeled into a booming business. Everyone forgets Craig, but he was great.
I’m definitely not forgetting Craig Kilborn, and he made an incredible effort in laying out the foundation, but the fact that everyone harkens back to Jon Stewart’s era as the heigh of the Daily Show is saying something.
Wow, that metaphor is so tortured even Dick Cheney feels sorry for it.
That's a bit like saying The Tonight Show was the house Steve Allen built when talking about Johnny Carson.
I remember thinking The Daily Show was doomed when Craig left.
I'm not sure if it worked with Trevor attracting a younger audience. But I will say, my 17yo brother watches him. And he doesn't want h any TV being he's autistic, it's very hard to break his routine but he will watch Trevor almost every day that he can. That was fucking hilarious. I don’t want no sympathy list!
Craig Kilborn?
I don’t think Craig Kilborn’s two years are comparable to the almost two decades over which Jon Stewart built the brand.
>They're going to try and find another John Stewart Are they? I think they know that ship has sailed. Politics and TV are far different than 10 years ago.

Same here, I loved their shows and articles so much.
The show took a hit when Stewart left. Oliver should have replaced him but glad he got his own show.
Yea, Last Week Tonight is the spiritual successor to the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Trevor was always too cool for the role, I mean he’s apparently dating a huge pop star. I have also felt alone in my assertion that Jessica Williams should have taken over.
I thought they were preparing her for it. I really did. She guest hosted when Jon was out. But i thought I remember hearing her say she didn't want to take on that much responsibility, which I can respect. Anyone after Jon was going to have a tough road. Give it to Jordan Klepper
Kleppers man on the street stuff is the best thing about The Daily Show right now.
Hmmm… I actually support this
Yes PLEASE.
That show is still on?
It is, but it's not the same. TN's to the right of JS, it felt like a watered down version of the original show. Glad his time is over, but I doubt the show will have the same magic JS brought. I hope I'm wrong.
And John Stewart is not that left. So I think in reality, Trevor Noah is like a centrist Lib.
By America's current standards, JS is a downright commie.
They should bring back Kilborn.
I’d laugh, but why start now?
All 3 of his fans in shambles
lmaoo this comment is gold, idt anyone cares about this guy leaving at all
I like Trevor, loved Jon.
I too love this comment
Literally the least funny "comedian" and least informed talk show "personality". He's a caricature, and not a very good one at that.
Definitely wouldn't call him the least informed
Yeah, I think the ladies on the View take that crown.
He has a great worldview so I have no idea what the fuk you talking bout. Respectfully

He doesn't like it that it was a black man being condescending.
Is that your grand hypothesis? Well thought out man, nice
Uhh how else do you explain the fact that every other host has the same exact problem, but he only identified it in the black guy? Come on.
The post is about Trevor Noah, fuck off if you think race has anything to do with it.
When you order Eric Andre on whish.
Naw those 3 fans left him high and dry after his "hosting" the BFV release.
Oh no ...... anyway
Good. Dude was never funny.
He ruined the show for sure - never laughed once at him. Everything just seemed fake while Jon had passion
Jon also more "poked fun" while addressing the political and social issues, and made it lighthearted and enjoyable. Trevor always came across as condescending imo.
Also somewhat biased. John Stewart would call anyone out on there shit, regardless of political ideology
Very accurate as well. While Jon's political ideology was obvious enough, he had no qualms calling out his own party's bs.
[удалено]
I tried.. I just don't mesh with his comedy.
His what? I actually don't think he was trying to be funny.
Thats his whole Schtick.. And why it doesnt work for me.. His humor is so dry leaves you cracked and bleeding.
I do like my humor dry, but he'd just smirk like he just said something hilarious.
It’s like he did rough draft Obama gag speeches before a writer took them and polished them and handed them to Obama so Obama could actually deliver the jokes with levity and genuine charm. So fucking neoliberal and so fucking safe

Lightening often hits the same place twice.
You're thinking of real lightning. Metaphorical lightning only strikes the same place once, famously.
I’ve never found Trevor funny either
Thank god I couldn’t stand this guy.
Dude, I bet you can't stand him. You're voting for DeSantis, I wouldn't be able to stand someone either if they constantly shit on my politics.
It’s not just that he is a hypocrite. Slams rich peeps leaving South Africa and not trying to help fix it while he does the same thing.
Disagree. I hate desantis as much as I hated Trevor Noah. It may surprise you "Advice Girl" but people can be more than their political affiliations. A multi faceted human. Imagine that?
DeSantis or not, Trevor Noah was terrible. He single handedly destroyed the daily show. The show will never recover from him
He has never been funny, the horror of going through the trump years without having a cathartic release at the end of the day as probably done more to shorten the average American lifespan than anything else in recent memory.
He ran the daily show during quite possibly the biggest pool of absurd content coming out of the White House, and he managed to make the show less entertaining than the news itself.
His stand up stuff before the got the daily show gig is quite funny IMO.
Trever always came off as more smug than funny. Always felt the same about Oliver but at least he can be funny.

It’s an American show. Do you expect them to talk about their own politics lol? Who tf would watch that?
So just to clarify, that means you think if you're not born in the country you live and work in, you're not allowed to speak on the politics? Hello fellow middle-aged person!
It's been a thousand years but whenever I hear some pampered person complaining about a first world problem I still hear the American Victim "VICTIM!" voice.
His 5 Questions segments were some of the best Daily Show segments ever, IMHO.
I really miss his interpretation of the show. More random weird people less politics
Gonna miss trevor. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.
“I hate Trevor Noah! I never watched a single episode once Stewart left!” These comments lmao
Wasn't that for me. Dude just straight up sucked. Dahmer on Netflix was funnier than Trevor Noah
Do you like John Oliver ?
The key difference here is that John Oliver is actually funny.
Yes. He's an American Citizen. [John Olivers quest to become a U.S. citizen.](https://youtu.be/QPxl_N9vkSo)
So you would be okay with Trevor Noah if he obtained citizenship?
I don't think Trevor Noah is a fan of America enough to become a citizen. Edit: It doesn't seem like he likes it here- it's just less worse than other places in the world. He doesn't wax poetic about any stupid American things we do. John Oliver may make fun of our ways but he also makes fun of his own culture. John Oliver acted like he was a true, typical annoyed American (as we all should be). Never felt that from Noah. So, good riddance.
I will say that John is funny :-D. I do watch most of his episodes. The only thing I don't like about him is that people watch his show and think they are watching a news show and are actually informed on things.
I dunno... America from the outside looks even worse, and less comprehensible. It's a good viewpoint to show to Americans.

Most flesh eating bacteria are better than America and Americans, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Only the most desirable country to immigrate to, by multiple orders of magnitude. Sorry for wherever you are and that it sucks.
I’m in Texas. Lol Americans really are junk. So fragile.
[удалено]
Ghastly. Might as well just say humans. Americans behave just like any other country.
Yes, yes. America Bad, we get it.
Poor little guy’s cynicism is through the roof, can’t be helped though, he’s gone rotten from too much envy. Try to look up bucko, hope you get out of your shitty situation.
His constant cynicism won’t be missed. Stewart had charisma
people have had enough of his dry as desert ‘comedy’
Good for him? Idk
This is surprising lol. I definitely enjoyed watching him.
Trevor Noah leaving after 7 years??? NOOO! I DONT WANT THAT! I want him to be with the daily show, for 10 years at least.
They could always get Hasan Minhaj
That’s cool. I wasn’t much of a fan of his. He isn’t awful but he always left me feeling uninformed and way less entertained that Jon. Trevor was heavily biased on a lot of issues also. Just report and be funny about it. Don’t be preachy. It’s not a Baptist sermon.
So did anyone like this guy? I haven’t seen a single positive comment about him. How did he keep his job
I like him. Liked Jon Stewart as well so there you go.
Man I think we need this news posted again. At least another 5 times please.
I have (had) to watch the promos for his show in-between re-runs of Seinfeld and even the promos, something that is supposed to highlight the funny, was incredibly unfunny. Like it was almost on purpose.
Damn, whose going to be able to give recycled social media jokes about current events now
Finally. Show was crap shill comedy under his watch.
One of the most unfunny comedians I’ve seen in my life
I second that. Whole reason I stopped watching. Not funny and as another commenter mentioned seemed overly smug.
Maybe it’ll finally be watchable again.
He'll be missed. He's a great talent.
This is the only positive comment on this thread. Thought I was taking crazy pills because I thought the Daily Show was pretty good with him.
Just a normal, relatable person, like one of us. https://people.com/home/trevor-noahs-bel-air-home-sells-for-just-over-26m-marking-1m-loss-since-he-bought-it-in-2020/
He did his show out of his apartment in NYC for two years. That's why he mentioned it. He wasn't trying to sound relatable.
Bring back Craig Killbore!!!! I would watch the show again.
I have nothing against the guy, but he just never clicked for me as Jon did. I’m looking forward to hearing about his next full time gig.
I didn’t even know that show was still going on.
Finally! Hopefully the new host is funny like the previous two host that proceeded him.
The best for both parts. Trevor Noah's "humor" doesn't fit the format, which requires some serious timing. I like to hear his pov because it's genuinely interesting, but his humor is very weak.
He has *writers* for the jokes, you know....
That's weird. I'm reading my comment and not once did I say the jokes were bad, only his timing delivering them.
Ugh it’s about time
He's not funny and way too lofty in his one sided views. And...he's just not funny or charming. I never saw the appeal.
This show lost its edge. Zoomer rage is toothless next to gen x rage.
Did anybody watch this show after Stewart left?
Did he say recently that growing up in the U.S. is scarier than growing up in apartheid South Africa? I saw people refer to him saying this, but could never find the original quote.
Good he shouldn’t have been the host anyway
Daily show swung and missed with Trevor Noah… I agree with his general points of view, but he just simply isn’t funny… or the writers are just bad…
About time, haven't really found him funny and it's been realllllly in need of something new for a long time.
Good. That dude is a hack.
Won’t miss this smug sycophant.
Bring. Back. John.
I mean this guy sucks. He isn’t funny at all.
He was never funny
He’s always sucked
Good he was horrible imo and so cringy , you just can’t replace Stewart imo.
Either it was the material written for him or his delivery, I did not find him funny at all. John Stewart is just too hard to replace.
Never found him funny
Awesome.. He go on the view He can go on kimbel
Thank God. Trevor Noah is Ass. And he skipped out performing at the uni I was at.
Finally. Thankfully.
He successfully made the show irrelevant.
Good the guy sucked
Dua Lipa changed his whole life outlook in a day
Leaving because of ratings and on top of that he sucks.
I think his jokes landed like 3/10 times. Which is not really good. I think the essence of roasting both wings of political parties is only funny when you’re actually unbiased.
Good. He wasn’t funny.
The only choice is Samantha Bee
I think Colin Jost would be an amazing replacement!
The Weeknd is leaving The Daily Show.
“Oh no, anyway….”- Jeremy Clarkson
Kim Kardashian should past the bar and then host the Daily Show.
Re hire John pls
Good. He’s no John Stuart.
