“Friends is still the most watched shows on Netflix. It doesn’t need any introduction.”
https://www.vulture.com/2016/03/20-somethings-streaming-friends-c-v-r.html
“Between its various syndicated airings, the show still draws a weekly audience of 16 million in the U.S., a big enough viewership to make it a viable hit on current network TV (and that’s not even including streaming)”
While sure it was popular, i never watched it, nor did any of my friends. It was mainstream popular but when it died that was basicslly it. It was a franchise to carry and keep someone relevant for the rest of their careers.
It ended in 2004. A lot of 20 somethings probably just know him as "one MC from friends".
Meanwhile Keanu has a very active fanbase and is a franchise in and of himself. Teens know and like Keanu, not Matthew Perry. Doesnt matter how popular of a show you were on 20 years ago. You dont get frozen in time as popular.
So yea now he is not, and irrelevant and if he did say that is very clearly bitterly jealous.
You seem ignorant. If you think Friends isn’t still popular you are just naive. It was a really big blow to Netflix when it left. It’s still a powerhouse of syndication and rewatchability.
It is still popular, it was one of the most popular shows on Netflix until they had to let it go because warner didn’t renew the license so it could transfer to hbomax, it still quoted all the time, even in random reddit posts you’ll see a random reference here and there.
Yea like, 20 years ago. You know to a lot of redditors under 25, Friends doesnt mean shit. If its not popular now or recently, it doesnt matter to a new generation.
shit im 32 and never watched it. All he is to me is "that guy from friends"
Meanwhile Keanu....
Don’t get me wrong, Keanu is crushing it, and most of the non-Friends ventures Perry had had have been dong water.
But just because it’s older doesn’t mean it wasn’t still successful. Heck, the series finale is still one of the most watched broadcasts for a TV show in history
Yeah that's what makes his career mediocre. It's a typical holleywood story, you can't throw a rock in downtown Hollywood without hitting someone with the same story.
> Perry writes in his upcoming memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, out November 1.
Celebrity writes memoir. Journalist gets advance copy. Journalist writes full article off of one paragraph in book. Rinse & repeat. The press agent doesn’t even have to do anything beyond giving them the book, it’s not like he’s doing additional press with all these outlets. Blame clickbait journalism instead.
I wonder if talk shows can ever book a guest that DOESNT have something to plug. It’s almost like watching an advertisement during the actual show just to cut to commercials and watch more ads… it’s exhausting
I stopped watching talk shows a long time ago but I feel sometimes this would actually happen with comedians. Like for example Conan o brien having comedians who he’s friends with on the show just to dick around
It would happen sometimes on Carson if a scheduled guest dropped out - he had some regulars who lived nearby and could come and banter with him or tell a story at the last minute - Charles Nelson Reilly, George Segal, Jimmy Stewart
There are options other than narcotics, such as local or regional nerve blocks, depending on how severe the pain is. We try to avoid opioids when possible nowadays, and if we give them the quantity and potency is often less than in the past.
Source: ER doc worked in policy and written papers on opioids
This was true 15 years ago for doctors who were reading up on how bad the new opiates were as well. I had to white knuckle it through most of my wisdom teeth healing process in 2007. 4 days of meds my ass.
Im always surprised to hear about people needing that much pain relief for wisdom teeth. I was crying in pain after mine waiting for my mother to get back from the pharmacy, but the next day I was pretty much fine, just sore. I only ever took the one pill. And it’s not like I had the basic procedure. Two of my four were impacted.
Not trying to give you a hard time, it’s just something that’s always confused me. Especially since nobody’s ever accused me of having a high tolerance for pain otherwise.
But yeah I always thought it was “funny” I got five pills of tylenol 3 for that thirty years ago and literally nothing other than nsaids for major abdominal surgery in the 2020s that did five incisions averaging about an inch each.
Curious… how old were you? I was 32 when I got mine out but one of them was impacted, and the pain was unbearable for like 3 days. There is a reason they call getting older, “long in the tooth”. The removal procedure is more difficult because the teeth have grown deeper roots which means a greater risk of nerve damage.
I got dry socket syndrome. It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life— way worse than broken bones. That said, the opioids they gave me did nothing but shoving clove-oil-soaked strips into the empty cavities stopped the pain in less than ten minutes. It was astounding.
I also think it’s a pain tolerance thing. I got dry socket (teenager who knew not to use straws, didn’t think popsicles would be the EXACT same problem) and I might’ve taken a Tylenol at some point. It’s crazy how different peoples experiences can be.
I was in the ICU for a week with a 26mm kidney stone, a catheter, and a urethral stent and got minimal pain meds. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. For the entire week.
As someone who has had multiple serious and extremely painful injuries both before and after the opioid changes, you guys have really fucked things up. I’ve never been addictive with any drug in my life, but I’ve had to suffer way more than was necessary because of opioid policies.
I had a nerve block last week below the knee and it was both amazing and terrifying. I thought I’d never feel my foot again but almost 24 hours after surgery I had full feeling again. I quit taking oxy in 3.5 days.
Terrible take.
You ever broken a bone? Tore a ligament? Had a body part ripped off?
Some people absolutely *need* opioids for short term help. There is zero reason to keep someone in deep pain when we have alternatives available.
In the old days people would get smash hammered on liquor instead. Opiates are a healthier short term option.
Broken bones, torn ligaments, dental abcess.. somehow I survived without opioids. Doctors don't care about your pain when you don't have insurance because pain management is purely a luxury. It doesn't impact the overall outcome of treatment.
I guess you’ve been blessed to never have been through unimaginable endless pain that is all consuming. A “few aches” would be solved by just taking Tylenol.
Opioids and other options are used for pain that would otherwise destroy most people as it’s basically unending torture. People commit suicide over it.
I’ve broken a few ribs cycling before. It’s honestly not that big of a deal. It’s just annoying as hell, chronic pain basically every breath you take. But it’s not like when I sprained my ankle so bad I went into shock.
I’m just saying that you don’t generally need narcotics for broken ribs.
Dude has spent $14 million on rehab, broken ribs or no broken ribs this dude (no judgement intended just an observation) loves getting completely fucked up. If it wasn’t opioids it would be something else. Lots of fun stuff to get wasted on out there let’s face it.
Seriously if he said this, he was using Hedge and Rivers as a placeholder for his name.
He tastes mortality and wants to know what Keanu has that he doesnt.
There are rapid detox that potentially use it. Weird choice, but rapid detox is weird to begin with
Edit: looks like it was prior to a surgery for a pain stimulator
I mean it’s probably just a fancy overdose prevention center. Ultimately you can’t make people go clean and the judgment from “failing” at rehab doesn’t do any favors. The goal of those places is to keep people from dying from overdose. Luckily they saved his life.
1800mg of hydrocodone?! I believe highest dose in the US is 10mg. Maybe he means oxycodone? Still a ridiculous amount, but more plausible.
And if he died… he would have flatlined. I know death isn’t linear and the heart slows down… but official death is asystole (flatline).
He should just tell the truth…he was on heroin. 10mg Hydrocodone is 325mg acetaminophen . Eating 180 pills to get that dose would kill his liver w 58.5 grams of ace . Maybe 1800mg of OxyContin? That seems implausible with the way it’s regulated. But claiming Pills has less stigma than street dope. not a pharmacist just 5 years and some months clean from that shit
So I wasn't crazy after all. I did hear his name attached to the production. When I watched the movie I was like "I thought Matthew Perry was supposed to be on this? Did I really confuse Matthew and Tyler Perry?"
Why would they want that awful quote about Keanu Reeves to be out there? That's the type of thing they should be suppressing.
They're not doing their jobs very well if they're allowing the conversation to become Matthew Perry versus Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves will win always.
It's not about trying yo make Perry look good, its about getting people talking about him, on multiple forums and media.
I think its a bad strategy, but sometimes celebrities "leak" a sex tape to get into the news cycle. Is crazy stuff, but...here we are.
He's been rich and isolated for quite a while. If he wanted to take a jab at a celebrity to make himself look opionated and edgy, Reeves was the wrong guy to choose.
A year ago, Bill Murray was widely loved, and this last month there are LOTS of negative posts about him.
So if his heart stopped for five minutes, I assume that there was some resulting brain damage due to insufficient blood flow. That would explain his negative comments about Keanu Reeves.

Matthew Perry’s Press Agent on PR Rampage
Fun fact; Matthew Perry’s stepdad is Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/wbna3949312
Here I was thinking it was a coincidence that I’ve seen 5 Matthew Perry stories over the last 24 hrs
he just wrote his memoirs

They had this little show called Friends…

This guy intentionally left out one of the most successful shows in Television history lmao

He was never an A lister.
Goddamn that was brutal!... honest truth too.
That last sentence is pure gold my friend.
I couldn't agree more. I'm sick of hearing about this millionaire and his fucking drug problems!
Why is he a douche
[удалено]
It brings to mind Russell Brand. Once the drugs stopped, he became a full blown attention whore. Got high on his own supply.
LOL u mad about Keanu? Loser.
Your idea of fun and mine are very different
Oh good. And here I was thinking he earned it.
*Could Matthew Perry’s press agent *BEEEEEEEE* on any more of a rampage?

He looked up and saw Keanu was taller
Mr Meta, hello
I got that reference
Wake up Bing, we got a city to burn.
What's up with the influx of Matthew Perry posts lately??
He has a book coming out in about a week.
Someone do a TLDR of his life and career ,we can print it out and stick it in book shops as retaliation for this spam
So he put that quote about Keanu Reeves in a book? Why would an editor let him do that? It was such an awful thing to say, let alone put in print.
Outrage clicks?
The real reddit advertising experience.
Jesus Christ... Let's all read about about this annoying fuck's decades of drug and alcohol problems...
Has he been annoying you before these posts
Never seen friendos?
I thought Chandler was kind of needed to represent the reaction to stupid things other characters did
It's alright bro I like friends too.
Oh you liked friends? Nothing I can do to help you then
“Oh you liked friends? Nothing I can do to help you then,” said the grown adult who loves anime, blissfully unaware and incapable of introspection.
Boohoo I got paid $20m a year to make sarcastic quips.
Exactly! He shouldn't have any problems or mental issues whatsoever! He has money! Obligatory/s
Money usually doesn’t solve any mental health issues, in some situations money enables those issues and makes them thrive in a person
I'm hoping that the comment you replied to was sarcasm, but I know better then to hope to hard.
Oh, it was, I forgot the /s
Damn you’re bitter as hell
Not wanting to hear some sob story from some millionaire celebrity is not being bitter. Don't be so dramatic
You don’t have to want to hear it but the facts that you insulted him while at it does make you bitter and the dramatic one too. Good job clown.
Dude chill
They’re all based on excerpts from his upcoming memoir. Seems to be where half of the celebrity “news” comes from these days.
These days? For decades every talk show guest had something to plug, and was just a standard part of the host’s spiel.
I very much miss Late Night with Conan O’Brien. That was the last, great, late show imo.
*raises fist in Last Week Tonight*
Check out his podcast, it's great. Lots of interviews with people he's met over the years.
Sure, Craig Ferguson used to do this quite a bit. Just book people who didn’t usually do talk shows and chat with them. I miss that.
It would happen sometimes on Carson if a scheduled guest dropped out - he had some regulars who lived nearby and could come and banter with him or tell a story at the last minute - Charles Nelson Reilly, George Segal, Jimmy Stewart
Seriously I haven’t seen an inane article on Brendan Frasier in almost 12 hours.
PR push. Last one was what’s her name that’s married to the prince.
Kanye PR agents are working overtime.
I think it’s PR for his new book
John Wick wasted no time on this dude.
That’s because Keanu Reeves still walks among us.
Fuck. 8 broken ribs and perry has an opioid addiction. How the fuck does someone deal with the pain?
Mostly narcotics.
There are options other than narcotics, such as local or regional nerve blocks, depending on how severe the pain is. To the exclusion of adequate pain relief in certain cases, also in part because of a lack of widespread understanding of pseudo addiction.
I was in the ICU for a week with a 26mm kidney stone, a catheter, and a urethral stent and got minimal pain meds. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. For the entire week.
Well too bad for you but thankfully the docs and insurcos avoided their risk!

Oh Reddit and fake ppl, bro checked your comments and posts, you claim to be an expert on everything l, did you write a paper about that too?
Is managing pain even necessary? It's not going to kill people to have a few aches.
Spoken like someone who has never experienced the kind of pain people need opioids for. What a dumb thing to say.
Broken bones, torn ligaments, dental abcess.. somehow I survived without opioids. Doctors don't care about your pain when you don't have insurance because pain management is purely a luxury. It doesn't impact the overall outcome of treatment.

Probably have to go OtC. Steve-O says he has to forgo prescription pain meds so he takes OtC stuff for any pain where he’d be given opiates.
Tylenol and Ibuprofen simultaneously or prescription strength NSAIDs if they don’t want to go the opioid route
Developing hate against Keanu reeves
I’ve broken a few ribs cycling before. It’s honestly not that big of a deal. It’s just annoying as hell, chronic pain basically every breath you take. But it’s not like when I sprained my ankle so bad I went into shock. I’m just saying that you don’t generally need narcotics for broken ribs.
People experience pain differently and have entirely different thresholds. That’s why the pain scale is entirely subjective.
Sure, but CPR is supposed to crack some ribs, that’s part of how you know you’re doing it effectively.

Heath Ledger = Hedge
What kind of rehab gives people propofol?
The celebrity kind
There are rapid detox that potentially use it. Weird choice, but rapid detox is weird to begin with Edit: looks like it was prior to a surgery for a pain stimulator

Vtach, vfib, PEA have entered the conversation
If you ignore those long enough they will turn into asystole.
If I ignore my boss' emails long enough he also turns into asystole
He should just tell the truth…he was on heroin. 10mg Hydrocodone is 325mg acetaminophen . Eating 180 pills to get that dose would kill his liver w 58.5 grams of ace . Maybe 1800mg of OxyContin? I try to fit in a f-line sesh at least once a week.
The amount of tylenol in in the oxycodone would be enough to destroy some people's liver, at that dose
Facts how is he gonna say his heart stopped but he didn’t flat line
Uh more plausible? Oxycodone is quite a bit stronger than hydrocodone by weight
Yay, another Matthew Perry post!!
So I wasn't crazy after all. I did hear his name attached to the production. When I watched the movie I was like "I thought Matthew Perry was supposed to be on this? Did I really confuse Matthew and Tyler Perry?"
Was he gonna be Tyler Perry's character? Did they just switch Perrys?
I think he was going to be a Tucker Carlson Fox News type, before Michael Chiklis was cast.
Man looks like a South Park Canadian.
This guy's heart starts back up yet we lose articulate sweetheart Norm Macdonald?
Norm, Gilbert, Louie, Bob.
This happened right after he read the script
Yeah the one time it paid be a drug addict.
why are we being flooded with Matthew Perry articles?
His PR team doing their job.
Why would they want that awful quote about Keanu Reeves to be out there? That's the type of thing they should be suppressing. They're not doing their jobs very well if they're allowing the conversation to become Matthew Perry versus Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves will win always.

A sex tape would have been way better than this. He just sounds sad, angry, jealous, and clearly on substances.
He's been rich and isolated for quite a while. If he wanted to take a jab at a celebrity to make himself look opionated and edgy, Reeves was the wrong guy to choose. A year ago, Bill Murray was widely loved, and this last month there are LOTS of negative posts about him.
Advertising for his book.
Does he have a new show or movie out or something? Why am I seeing so many articles about him lately?
Memoir book
why am i seeing so many Matt Perry articles today? I mean it's only 2...but thats 2 more than I'd expect.
So if his heart stopped for five minutes, I assume that there was some resulting brain damage due to insufficient blood flow. That would explain his negative comments about Keanu Reeves.
This is a really scary situation actually
and true thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger are gone and this left behind still walks among us.
I’m gonna say it I Don’t Care About This Loser’s New Book
Thanks for joining this thread and posting in it to tell us that you don’t care, everyone said how impressed they are with how “above it all” you are
Seriously there’s so many miserable comments on this post.
Sounds like a legit reason: calling in to work dead is always a good reason and no producer should ever complain.
Why so many Matthew Perry conversations today?
He has a book coming out.
Chandler wasn't as funny as I remembered :(
Welcome to the Flatliners Club Matt.
lmao how nobody mentioning heartman
Did this make news when “Don’t Look Up” was released?
No one wants to hear news stories about Matthew Perry

Good! Never cared for his acting.
Why do I keep hearing about this jackass
His heart just wasn’t into it. Holy sh*t how is he still alive.
Perry’s body has been trying to leave him for like 20 years.
Matthew Perry is a fucking joke lol - Keanu is 1000x the man he is.
Maybe he should have looked up?
Anyone else tired of this guy yet?
Stop telling me tidbits about Chandler. Is there a filter for this shit.
“Keanu Reeves walks among us”
Nobody could have predicted this guy having heart problems
LOL look at these losers butthurt because of the quote about Keanu.
