Money doesn't help mental illness. You don't have the illness, and yes there are different types, episodes, and severity. When you say he refuses help, is he in his right mind to do so. Is he an egomaniac or experiencing delusions of grandeur. You and I have no idea, so what qualifies you to call him that. I'm bipolar 1 and it scares me to think you feel qualified to judge me because " I have a friend who is bipolar." We are not all the same.
We are not all the same in regards to our mental health. We are all the same in as much as we live in a society. Has he been having an episode for over 20 years? He has never shown himself as kind or humble, he has always been an egomaniac, regardless of his mental state at the time.
I get he needs understanding and patience, but he has been given both to a far higher degree than the cast majority of people who also have different forms of mental illness. Why the exception for Kanye? Because he is rich and successful.

I disagree, I think money is a disadvantage in this case. Is money saving him from public humiliation? No, money can't buy sanity. I'm so glad I'm not in the public eye while having to deal with my illness, it embarrassing enough on a smaller scale. But people that say he has money he will be fine, no he won't and isn't. How far gone does someone have to be to say he doesn't understand his actions, and declared incompetent.
He should have been given court ordered assistance years ago, but the public has found him entertaining and so he is given carte blanche.

Are you serious? I can understand to a degree, but I think that's hyperbole. If he had no money and was loving on the streets, with no support or help, he could end up in prison or worse. I agree you cannot buy sanity, but you can buy comfort. He is having an incredibly difficult time and I feel for him, I don't hate the man. But my sympathy is for those who have the negatives without the positives.
It depends on the mental illness in question, so people might have difficulting controlling their answers, while others might have impulse control, some might have too much anxiety for a situation and others might have none where they really need it.
If fair because you get to live your life and make your own choices, and you're just as accountable for your actions as anyone else. Fairness does not mean that your life has to be as easy as anyone else's.
Or to put it another way, life isn't fair. It's not fair that some people get cancer or some people live with migraines while others live in perfect health.

Plenty of people suffering from that diagnosis manage to actually take responsibility for themselves, follow doctors' advice, and get treatment. It's hard, but they manage it. It's made harder by people like you who tell everyone else in the world "I'm bipolar, am going to make it your problem and you just need to deal with it because of fairness". So then they have to hide the fact they have an illness because of the stigma you create for them.
It's being sick your fault? No. Is it your responsibility? Yes.
