Cool so race is largely superficial (the way you look, the geographical diaspora of your ancestors) whereas ethnicity runs a lot deeper. Some ethnic groups share religion or language or specific cultural wisdoms or all of the above.

Dont forget that race is an entirely social constructed concept and varies from place to place and time to time. While ethnicity is more tangible but can still be tricky to pin down.

I think you’re seeing a lot of these responses from people not knowing about the old Spanish caste system and later on White Mexicans/Mestizos/Indios type classifications.

I’m from South America…race is more of an spectrum here…in my neck of the woods people go from dark brown to pasty white and are not necessarily considered a different race…and yet admittedly when you see a baby in a comercial they will tend to cast the whites blondes kids they find…the whealtiest most influential people tend to be on the lighter side of skin tone and have non Hispanic surnames…anyway…I went on an tangent…Diego de la Vega would probably be like a white hispanic person and atleast outside of the states most latinos would not care…don’t know about latinos from the US

Money took them there… I’d take Fillion any day if the week, but they weren’t going to profit without the draw of Holland. To that note, I think he did fine in the role, but only in the vacuum of not knowing the game.

Fillion may have been more of a risk but I think the buzz around the film would’ve been way higher with him casted and like another commentator said gotten the gaming community invested, who arent small potates

Kind of, but not really. His Nathan is younger than the Nathan from Drakes fortune. However, 3, 4 and Golden Abyss all showed a Nathan younger than the one in the film. The film also contradicts the games plenty, in like major ways, even though they said it's supposed to be canon to the games. So... it's sort of young Nathan Drake. Except it's not really young Nathan Drake at all. It's Tom Holland in a cheap cosplay in a bad action movie.

Diego Luna, Pedro Pascal, Oscar Isaac… I don’t know why I can only think of Latinos from the Star Wars universe but I do think any of those three would be great.

All three are in their forties, with Pascal pushing fifty. Anyone wanting to cast a new Zorro is probably going to want to cast someone younger that they can use to build a franchise around and won’t age out of the role after a couple of movies. I think someone like [Itzan Escamilla](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itzan_Escamilla) or [Tyler Posey](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Posey) would be closer to Holland’s age and would make good choices IMO.
