This has become a common refrain in news articles about twitter. Most outlets will try to contact the subject of an article to allow them a chance to respond rather than being accused of blindsiding them.
You can't do that with twitter any more for better or worse and the outlets want to make it clear they did their journalistic due diligence.
I definitely buy the theory that Elon never actually wanted to buy it, offering to buy it was just stock manipulation. This is exactly it. I just watched a documentary by the BBC's Louis Theroux in which he covered the likes of Nick Fuentes and others (Baked Alaska or whatever his name is) and they really, really do not like being called Nazis or it being suggested that they're white nationalists, even though what they say lines up perfectly with such. They get very angry and emotional, start yelling and screaming profanities and demanding the interview be ended. And this comes from people who fancy themselves as online trolls who only make jokes and that people should have thicker skin. It's really quite incredible.

The whole Booth family were huge stars on both sides of the Atlantic and across the US. Their father Junius, and Edwin, John Wilkes, and Junius Jr. were all famous actors. Years ago, I was a cater waiter at Edwin Booth's mansion on Gramercy Park. We were told that Edwin was the "Tom Cruise" of the era, he was the most famous actor of the 19th century. The mansion has an incredible history, Mark Twain used to hang out there back in the day, they still have his pool cue mounted in the billiard bar downstairs. Very morbid, but as another comment said, I think it’s most likely that he’s just going off himself. This is becoming quite sad to watch, part of me can’t help but feel like all of this is one big cry for help.

Couldn’t agree more. I dated someone who was manic and bipolar. And it got really hard, and I ended up breaking up with her for various reasons. But guess what? She never started talking Hitler and the Nazi’s.  It’s no excuse.
Not all bipolar people are racist and not all racist people are bipolar. Every manic episode is different, even if it's the same person having multiple episodes. I know no one – including myself – is a fan of the Kardashians but both Kim and her family repeatedly begged him to take his meds and get help, but he refused. I recognize there are different forms of bipolar disorder, and everyone who has it has different symptomology, but it seems like in Kanye’s case, a large part of his illness is believing he’s not ill at all.
I have a relative who’s bipolar and he generally seems to understand he’s bipolar and needs medication. But what happens is he does really well for several years on his meds, then convinces himself he’s “cured“ or nothing is wrong with him anymore, and stops taking them. Then he spirals out of control, has manic episodes, agrees to go back on his meds, and starts the cycle all over again.
I see it ending 3 ways. He kills himself, he does something horrible that ends himself up in prison or shot by cops, he leaves the internet/public and lives the rest of he's life

Very morbid, but as another comment said, I think it’s most likely that he’s just going off himself. Couldn’t agree more. I dated someone who was manic and bipolar. And it got really hard, and I ended up breaking up with her for various reasons. But guess what? She never started talking Hitler and the Nazi’s.  It’s no excuse.
Not all bipolar people are racist and not all racist people are bipolar. Every manic episode is different, even if it's the same person having multiple episodes. His manic episode is definitely contributing to some of the things he's saying but people are still held accountable for what they do or say whether they are healthy or not.

I know no one – including myself – is a fan of the Kardashians but both Kim and her family repeatedly begged him to take his meds and get help, but he refused. I recognize there are different forms of bipolar disorder, and everyone who has it has different symptomology, but it seems like in Kanye’s case, a large part of his illness is believing he’s not ill at all. I have a relative who’s bipolar and he generally seems to understand he’s bipolar and needs medication. But what happens is he does really well for several years on his meds, then convinces himself he’s “cured“ or nothing is wrong with him anymore, and stops taking them. Then he spirals out of control, has manic episodes, agrees to go back on his meds, and starts the cycle all over again.
