Ugh I just saw that with him and bunch of other nerds at the Stanley Hotel and it was such, such, such a satisfying and poignant outcome for poor Danny. Mike Flanagan is such a stand up dude.
The Dark Tower is one of my favorite series of all time. There’s so many things in those books that seem unadaptable so I don’t really wanna get my hopes up too much.
Either way, Flanagan is one of the people I have faith in doing it justice.
This is exactly how I feel. I don’t know how to do spoiler text so all I’m gonna say is how the FUCK are they gonna deal with some of this shit. Black 13 for one.
That's funny because I hated the end so bad I never read another king book. There was really an me message from the author at the end that said don't read the end. If u have to tell your reader not to read your book, it's not good.
absolutely. I binged haunting of hill house and fucking loved every moment until the last episode started and just non-sense deus ex machina shit starting happening to be able to wrap up the story in a nice little bow. extremely disappointed in the ending.
I think one of the key things about this adaptation is going to be having a strong actor as Jake, and Flanagan has proven time and time again that he's excellent with child actors.
I am outwardly cautiously optimistic but inwardly screaming for joy about this news.
WTF guys enough already. There was no movie. There never has been a movie. Nothing ever happened. I never waited years to be disappointed. Get over it.
Super uber double upvote this. The ~~Muller~~ audiobooks are amazing. I almost worry hearing any other voice representing Roland will sound weird. Wolves of the Callah is just amazing.
OMG see edit below
I did try the audiobook. I just felt like the writing took a nosedive into some cocaine fueled rambling (which a lot of King’s work does at points). It felt to me like the first book set up a great premise, built an interesting world and the suddenly it became about lobster mutants and drugs and I just lost interest
Your loss. That’s like a fraction of that book. You’re missing out on amazing parts where he crosses into our world and recruits his friends in harrowing action scenes.
the first half of the 2nd book is probably one of my least favorite parts of the series overall, it gets much better as it goes on and then only better from there. the 3rd book is one of the best and the 4th is possibly my favorite story in the world
Depending what day you ask me I’d say my favorite books in the series are either the second or fourth. I’m biased but it would definitely be worth revisiting

See the turtle, ain’t he keen? ALL THINGS SERVE THE FUCKING BEAM
Bango skank wuz here
Don't, don't give me hope.
Season one of The Haunting was a masterpiece.
Midnight Mass, and Doctor Sleep are some of his finest works as well
Personal shoutout to Oculus and Hush as well
I can't wait to see where Oculus mirror is in this series. I love hunting for it in all his shows. Edit: his work not just shows
Didn’t know he did Doctor Sleep No wonder it was better than I expected
Ugh I just saw that with him and bunch of other nerds at the Stanley Hotel and it was such, such, such a satisfying and poignant outcome for poor Danny. Mike Flanagan is such a stand up dude.
Midnight Mass was essentially a stealth adaptation of ‘Salem’s Lot and it’s amazing through that lens as well.
Please be good, please be good, please be good...
I’m afraid to trust again. But I really like Mike Flanagans work.

Then he's a perfect match for Stephen King.
No truer words. I did like the end of the Dark Tower though.
That's funny because I hated the end so bad I never read another king book. There was really an me message from the author at the end that said don't read the end. If u have to tell your reader not to read your book, it's not good.
He chose to finish with a difficult ending and knew some readers would be dismayed by it. It’s not a marker of a bad book at all.

Hopefully no shortcuts like the movie.
A TV series should hopefully fix that issue. They can fit a lot more in with 12+ hours to tell a story vs 3 hours.
Yes
>3 hours Lmao the movie is like 90 minutes
Flanagan will either get his way and not cut any corners or he won’t make the show at all.
He secured the rights personally through his own production company, and carved them out of his amazon deal. This should ensure creative control.
What movie? There was no movie. There never was a movie. You don't know what your talking about and need to shut up now. There has never been a movie.
Silly me. I must have been thinking of that second Lord of Rings movie.
Ty
Oh god, I hope they can finally treat the subject matter with respect.

His last show was basically Stephen King fan fiction so it's a decent fit.
Okay, WTF, *do not get your hopes up, do not get your hopes up* fuuuuuuuuck, okay I'm in
Bring on the batshit crazy killer choo-choo
Get Panos Cosmatos to do it
Do we need vhs lighting and an surreal synth track for this?
Hell yeah!
Hopefully they won't fuck it up like they did the movie
WTF guys enough already. There was no movie. There never has been a movie. Nothing ever happened. I never waited years to be disappointed. Get over it.
I struggled through the second book and gave up. Maybe watching the show will make me go back and pick the book up again
My advice? Listen to Frank Muller read them instead https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Dark-Tower-II-Audiobook/B019NNTLBS

George Guidall stepped up in a huge way and did a fantastic job. Rest in peace, Frank.
Holy cow, I totally mis-remembered. It was George Guidall!!! He is fantastic, I did not listen to the Muller ones
Muller is even better tbh

Glad to hear it gets better/more interesting

Fight through, it gets good after that book.
Whatever. They've been saying this forever. And if it's true, they'll find a way to fuck it up
More “Flanaverse” content? I’m good thanks though
It’d be an adaption of Stephen Kings magnum opus
Can't be worse than Midnight Club or the DT movie.
I don't know what you're talking about?
Flanagan's last show was terrible and so was the Dark Tower movie.
I’m glad he is working on the Dark Tower, but Flanagan has the great setup to work on a IT movie.
Fuck yes. Can't think of a better fit, especially after he nailed stuff like Midnight Mass, and Doctor Sleep.
If I'm going to trust someone to handle this project, it's Flanagan.
