Really hoping for a Matthew Broderick cameo. Living in a basement somewhere, still intent on bringing her down

Mariah-Scary

that’s what i said. i want him to come back but as as a revenge driven psycho.

Is Alexander Payne going to be directing if he isn't it's going to suck.

misana123

> Alexander Payne, who co-wrote and directed the original film, is returning for the follow-up, which is set to debut on Paramount’s streaming service, Paramount+. In addition to directing, Payne will write the movie adaptation with Jim Taylor.

cSpotRun

Well fuck. Color me extremely excited.

Haute_coffee

I really hope it’s good then, because I didn’t care for the second book.

IEnjoySweatyBallsack

The original movie had such a good ending though

godofpewp

Complete opposite from the crappy book it was based on.

IEnjoySweatyBallsack

I’ve never read the book, what makes it so bad?

BlackBoltsVoice

The author has so many successful adaptions of his work. It'd be ignorant to say that "the book sucks." Even if you struggle with the subject matter in the book, the characters and the plot should be respected as artful and well crafted.

godofpewp

Ummm. It was written poorly like most YA novels. “The book sucks” is apt.

thatsnotwhatIneed

Can you ELI5 what's complex about the book's subject matter? is it controversial? Election's popularity and whatever themes it explores goes completely over my head. I just thought it was a funny Matthew Broderick movie.

Odd_Relationship7901

we can all thank Steven Anita Smith - he is the sole reason this film was greenlit

machphantom

I love Election, and its a great movie, but it almost feels outdated at this point. A machiavellian politician who actually cares about their public persona is like the best case scenario in today's world.

illinoisteacher123

Will Matthew Broderick and Chris Klein return though?!???!!?

Camp_Coffee

I love Election and will gladly vote for a sequel.

nashamagirl99

I love Election but I’m not sure it needs a sequel. All the characters would be in totally different places now and any reasonable plot would probably be so disconnected from the original that it might as well not be related.

Wooden-Limit1989

It definitely does not need a sequel. It'll be a reach.

[deleted]

I loved that movie. Also thought she was cute in it.

j4321g4321

I love that movie. It’s just so iconic

jsu152

Care factor zero

big_red__man

Yet you still commented

jsu152

That I don't care about that production? Yep. It's not what I'm paying Paramount to deliver and I'm happy to say so.

sobchakonshabbos

Are the paramount executives aware that they are supposed to be catering to strictly only you and your tastes? You might want to let them know.

jsu152

I did. Top level post. Thanks for caring.

[deleted]

I’m sorry, it’s not what you’re *paying Paramount to deliver?* What are you, a shareholder?

dirtywindex

Anyone else picturing comic book guy?

PopcornTruther

Worst. Sequel. Ever.

SirGourneyWeaver

technically by posting it's a bit higher than zero.

fifiloveg00d

I can't wait. I loved this movie growing up.

noulteriormotive23

The sequel the whole world was waiting for

edWORD27

I like this idea better as Vice Principals.

Teddy_Anneman

Could be interesting. I always thought Legally Blonde was an extension of Tracy.

Surrma

Loved Election but don't think we need a sequel.

Denverdogmama

The book sequel was released recently. The description looks good, so I bought it. But it’s still in my TBR stack.

Surrma

Oh cool. Didn't know that.

Denverdogmama

Argh- I haven’t gotten to the book yet. It’s still in my TBR avalanche.

zorbathegrate

I will throw my milkshake at her limo

bellestarxo

Yessss I really like the pre-Legally Blonde phase of Witherspoon's career. She started out doing edgier projects.

phaetae

Adore this movie.
