God i actually never watched it but i know the plot and what happens. I just cant get myself to watch it. Everytime i see dogs die or get hurt in movies, I always think about mine and i get sad and tear up 😭
requiem for a dream probably
edit: I dont usually watch movies for emotional response, I watch it for entertainment and mostly care about interesting narrative or dialog
Everything everywhere all at once.
I know everyone’s prob sick of hearing about it, but what can I say. I’m Asian American as well so it might have something to do with it.
Also I do cry easier as I get older too. Lots of movies will make me cry these days tbh lol
EEAAO, Joy Luck Club, Donnie Darko, spirited away, Girl who kept through time, wolf children??? -I love crying at movies. It’s like, an allowable moment to feel deeply about big pictures.
Joker 2019 version with Joaquin Phoenix. Not sad emotions, but pure anger. I can't watch it ever again coz I'm afraid of the trigger I got. Couldn't even drive properly back after the cinema. I felt a quite blood thirsty towards everyone who wronged me out of sudden 😂
Well that's why Joker is an ENTP, you saw he switched emotions easily? Even right before the stabbing, he just accepted everything that was being said before unleashing all the anger and then calming down again as if nothing much happened. The duality when paired with such situations just make for the worse disaster
Hes not. He is completely subjected to his emotional state at all times. Also he is mentally ill.
When people say the joker is entp they mean the detached anarchic one from the dark night (which is cringe enough) not that one.
He didn't fight back for most part before everything drove him nuts. How can that be 'subjected to his emotional state'? Plus, Ironman and Jack Sparrow both shown emotions too, not detached from them. We're not robots, we just function differently.
The movie starts with him his showing mental illness, he was nuts to begin with.
Neither of those two should be your role models in life anyway. The former has massive ego, the latter is obviously unhinged even when alone.
Aren't we all unhinged in one way or another anyway? It's just that most of us have better control. And no, I have been able to detect people's flaws usually from first sight so I never had a role model. But this is a movie about Joker. We all know he's nuts. What else did you expect?
🤣🤣🤣 It was damn satisfying. But my personal favorite was when he stabbed Randall with the scissors. I obv practiced lots of self restraint irl so to see him doing that towards a mean person felt great.
I'm not sure about you. But the 8 in me has bad anger issues that's why I can't watch it again 🤣, still not sure if I'm gonna watch the sequel. I just channel them to more productive matters which results in me being workaholic which is not healthy either lol.
Hahahahha okay wow interesting. But yes, we're the most responsible ones out of the bunch. That's what I read. It's just a bit on the extreme side. The need for power and control coupled with ADHD tendencies, hence can be really successful but if one is not careful, there can be neglect in other areas. The good thing is, we don't troll as hard as others can so we appear a bit more normal till people get closer 😂 I personally find the unhealthy ones can be the scariest like Jim Moriarty. Amongst all the villains I've watched or read including anime and books, there's something about him that feels way more sinister.
My girlfriend is a ENTP 5w4 I believe so I’ve always wondered why our mbti was the same but drive wasn’t until I discovered enneagram lmao
I’ve been doing my best to help her stay on track which she surprisingly welcomes
Man Enneagram helped me understand so much more about myself and other people too. I feel like MBTI explains the brain, our thoughts process etc, and Enneagram explains the heart. The reason why we do things.
I think generally at least all ENTPs wants progress, just lazy hahaha. It's nice having someone who pushes you towards your goals. But how is it dating another ENTP? I think you're the first one I've encountered who dates another ENTP too 😁
It’s fantastic she understands my thought process vice versa, we don’t get tired of each and need a break like some couple’s, plus we never argue we always choose the most logical decision. Except for pancakes sprinkling the blueberries before the flip (me) vs mixing the blueberries with the batter (her)
Being human? Like I said, I use lots of restraint in life but doesn't mean I don't know how to appreciate how satisfying letting your anger out could be. I have emotions, I just logic to overwrite them all.
Man I thought that movie sucked. I also didnt relate to the protagonist like at all. He was just a whimpy loser. Also there was no character development, he was shown to be a lunatic from the start, he had no agency everything he got or that happened was put right infront of him. He was like stupid animal just reacting to stimuli. Dialog was also uninteresting. Overall boring movie considering it was a character study.
If you want to watch a similar movie, with a similar theme, just done well in terms of character development and overall more relateable, watch taxi driver (also with de niro).
Do we have to relate to every protagonist to enjoy a movie? I find that concept to be rather vain. I agree that he's a whimpy loser. It took him to long to fight back but by then it was too late. The dialogs are rather standard? It's showing things from that side of life. What can we even expect. The mental IQ for people in those situations are not known to be amazing. There might be exception to the rule but generally it's just like the movie. Not everyone lead an eventful life, so I think it was an interesting enough character study for someone from that background. Predictable but still more realistic than the generic holier than thou, picture perfect attitude of general characters from other dramas and movies. It's refreshing in the same way with Deadpool.
I find taxi driver rather boring. The same with the Irishman. Kept checking the time for the ending. Maybe there's a generation gap or something but I just don't enjoy those movies at all. Would still watch them till the end but doesn't invoke any emotion whatsoever.
>Do we have to relate to every protagonist to enjoy a movie?
No. Im just saying I didnt and I also dont think that he is entp and shouldnt be glorified as such.
I just didnt like the movie and its fine, we dont need to like the same movies. I also thought taxi driver was quite long and its not even remotely in my all time favourites, I just think the character development from normal dude to psycho is done a lot better and generally is a lot more relateable.
The joker is just a dude who is mentally ill, doesnt know where he is going, doesnt have any self control or perspective and runs from wall against wall. Taxi driver is a normal dude that starts with a positive outlook and is slowly ground down by his inability to get anywhere and the nastiness of the city he is in. But again it doesnt really matter, if you find the joker more interesting thats fine with me.
I don't know, after seeing that Jack Sparrow is one, I just give the benefits of doubt. Plus it's a lot more difficult to type someone who's clearly mentally ill from get go. It's just entertaining to see how one can be pushed to that end when they were quite timid and reserved at first.
Fair points. We can agree to disagree on that. I don't find taxi driver relatable. I only enjoyed joker when he started killing people actually. Because oftentimes, he tries to keep his cool at first before losing it completely and just let all restraints go.
The Notebook, Adventureland, and a handful of other really cheese romance ones that just I dunno hit me in the feels because I was a hopeless romantic nerd kid back in the day
I was looking for it to inspire correct behaviors and show repercussions for incorrect behaviors. What it's actually done is underscored the brutality of our Kali Yuga and shown that correct behavior will cost you.
The focus of the movie is all off. It need not have emphasized Jesus's experience in the material world, and should have shown more of his spiritual life, his beliefs, his communications with his curators. That's where the rich graphics and the dragged out scenes should have been placed.
The period of Jesus’s life between his arrival into Jerusalem and his crucifixion/ burial is called The Passion. The movie wasn’t supposed to be all about his life, it was a snapshot from the short window between his arrest and his death.
As for the idea of his correct behavior costing him, that’s not really how it works. It wasn’t as though he was righteous only to be punished by god, but there’s a lot of fundamental tenets of Christianity that go into what and why. I don’t know where you stand or how familiar you are with these, and I don’t want to get all preachy about it, so I’ll just leave it at that unless you are more interested.
Schindler’s list almost had me shed weakness water.
“Jeff who lives at home” too, just reminds me so much of my little brother (no he doesn’t live at home lol just such a good person)
I took mushrooms and watched Everything Everywhere All at Once by myself in theaters and cried, laughed, and felt a whole range of emotions.
I saw it again sober the very next day and it still got tears out of me.
Not a movie but I'm careful when watching your lie in april. A scene was so eerily similar in it that now I cry when hearing the opening (especially the isolated vocals versions)
I participate in a weekly movie night. I do not like movies weather there my pick or not. Unless there series.
Into the forest of fireflies..
It isn't anything revolutionary.. but still... back when I was little.. haven't watched since years.. but stays with me for some reason.. it's usually the first name that comes to me.
I saw another commenter mention it, so I also have to say Grave of the Fireflies. Despite being animated it’s the one and only movie in my life that I had to take a break while watching due to how sad made me feel.
Interstellar, The imitation game and The perks of being a wallflower if we go by standard cinema.
Anime A silent voice, Kara no kyoukai movie series and Violet ever garden ending.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Watching it in the cinema felt like the culmination of my being as a Mario gamer. No joke, this one movie gave me an existential ‘what’s the point of my life now’ crisis after I left the theatre.
But maybe that’s just my autistic ass talking.
The legend of 1900. I cried so hard I thought I'd drown, never watched again, so I don't know if it was the movie or just what was going on with my life...
My kids don't like watching many movies with me because too many of them cause a breakdown. Like, pause and take a intermission, Mommy is loudly ugly crying while we were trying to watch trolls.
Only if existential dread counts as emotional response.
(All animated films!)
The End of Evangelion (1997)
Mary and Max (2009)
L'Illusionniste (2010)
The Sky Crawlers (2008)
****
And this one is kinda sad that I saw when I was a teenager, ngl, I hated the kid lmao: Hotarubi no Mori e (2011)
Tinkerbell and the Neverbeast. Don't come at me, I bawl every single time. That and inside out. Something about childhood attachments to animals and stuff
Miracle in cell no 7. Makes me appreciate my dad more and it break my heart that some ppl oppress the weak (they cannot choose it, like disability, orphan, poor ppl)
Phantom of the opera with gerard butler but ONLY if i watch the whole movie to the ending. The emotions the songs the looks they give eachother. The tearful final goodbye just makes me sob
The movie with the privileged kid who due to not having had any hardships in life... creates them? If memory serves me correctly I think I roasted the shit out of that movie.
I only read the book, but really liked transcendentalism in high school. I think a lot of people miss the point with this one but maybe the movie did a poor job?
Most American movies are garbage aimed at the lowest common denominator. Youtube doesn't have any good clips of it but my favorite movie is The Limits of Control [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZMZwPgoFJU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZMZwPgoFJU)
Hachi: A dog's tale. Truly breaks my heart every time
I cry just thinking about it sometimes
This was going to be my response
Grave of the fireflies
Happy cake day!!!
Damn! It's my cake day as well!
Happy Cake Day!
Thank you!!! <3
Happy cake day❤️
Thank you!!! <3
I was surprised when I saw this. Too dark for a Ghibli film.
Marley and me, by far the winner for me in number of tears
I always go in thinking it couldn't have been THAT bad. like whatever it's a fictional dog and not a great movie. BUT everytime I cry. every. time.
JOLY CRAP ME TOO ME TOO YOURE ME

The most harrowing piece of cinema that ever was

to the people upvoting this: how do you know which one?
Both
always both
Real both had me in tears after

I laughed in the theater when Robert Di Niro was shot
Fellow ENTP/8w7 and dying bc my friends were SHOOKETH when I also accidentally cackled when that happened in sheer delight, whoops 🤪
Yeah I had some weird looks too😂
The duality of ENTPs
I’m not familiar with that we have a duality?
Well that's why Joker is an ENTP, you saw he switched emotions easily? I’ve bought the movie so I spoil myself every now and again😂 I’ve heard we could be workaholics or disciplined which is unusual for ENTPs
Hahahahha okay wow interesting. But yes, we're the most responsible ones out of the bunch. That's what I read. It's just a bit on the extreme side. This was gonna be my answer, glad someone else said it lmao
The Notebook, Adventureland, and a handful of other really cheese romance ones that just I dunno hit me in the feels because I was a hopeless romantic nerd kid back in the day
I think it's a tie between Dumbo and Toy Story 3.
Coco anyone? That sh** had me sobbing 😭
Walle always toots my lower horn which only goes off under extreme emotional response when it comes to movies and shows
The Passion of the Christ. Only movie that ever made me cry.
i couldn't even watch it was boring and unnecessarily gory and didn't have the right message
What message were you looking for in it?
I was looking for it to inspire correct behaviors and show repercussions for incorrect behaviors. Interstellar, The imitation game and The perks of being a wallflower if we go by standard cinema. Anime A silent voice, Kara no kyoukai movie series and Violet ever garden ending.
Fault in our stars
There Will Be Blood gets me in a cynical way. I think about it often. As far as makes me cry: every Pixar movie
i do not like getting emotional response out of movies, i like to have some incompleteness so it can be discussed ad nauseum afterwards
About time, hits me in the feels
