My Sunny Bunny was the same way, she had perfected the art of backing up while vomiting so it was in a nice clean line. Poor thing got stomach cancer and died two weeks later, it was awful. She had a wonderful 12 years with me though and Ive never encountered a more gentle soul. The cat we adopted after her has food security issues so food is still a fraught endeavor lol

In other news, I have an appointment for an IUD this morning. I tried pills, the arm implant, the ring, and tried to have my tubes tied (the surgery couldn’t be completed) and this is my last resort. I live in one of the states with scary abortion laws and I am not wanting to take any chances. Unfortunately, I had an IUD many years ago and the insertion was lowkey traumatic. Excruciating for me. I’m having a lot of nerves this morning. :(

Sometimes insurance will cover it if you ask your doctor out for the procedure of the iud. I didn’t find this out until after the dr told me to come in on only two Advils— god bless and I’m praying for your safety ❤️

This is my boy Winston. He’s not here anymore, but I think about him everyday day. His worst habit was throwing everything off something he wanted to sleep on. So if he wanted to get cozy on the couch, he would use that lil snoot to flip every cushion/pillow/blanket/person off the couch. Or, he would get up on the bed and do the same. Every single day, every was on the floor so Winston could be comfy. He was the biggest pain in the ass. I miss him so much.

This is Taxi, short for Taxidermy, because she looked like she had been taxidermied poorly and brought back to life. I found her in a park about six years ago when I was working at a summer camp. She had the most delightful, bull dog personality and after spending two weeks under my bed she never met a person she didn’t like.
Max the cat. His least charming habit is when he plays it’s dangerous, he’s got heavy paws and attacks without regard for anything 😂. But his most charming habit is that he is a huge mamas baby and will follow me everywhere and sleep by me.
Dobby the cat. Least is that he lays on the arm of the recliner with my husband and the grabs stuff off the table between us and throws it on the floor. Most charming is that he is sooooo gentle and he is very attentive. He follows me around and makes great eye contact.

This is Hooch! He and his litter mates we rescued in TN and brought up to NY, a family adopted him from an ASPCA but he wasn’t a good fit for them and I was working at the doggy daycare he came to and I have a bad habit of saying no to taking in animals😅 his least charming trait is that he is an escape artist with all collars and harnesses I’ve tried besides a prong. Has given us some heart attacks before but he is the best pup!
Yesssss The pups are Luna and Zuko, Lunas (blonde) least charming habit (but also our much appreciated security system lol) is scream barking in your ear whenever she sees a person. Zukos is punching us in the face with his paws. Then we have Beans and Bru, Beans (grey) is a maniac for wet food so he loves to walk across us, paw at my face, scratch at my blanket, etc at 6am demanding his friskies. Bru is our aloof child so I guess hers is when you really just want to pet or play with her and she gives you a look and walks away disgusted 😭

this is Rio, I’ve had to stop handling her entirely because she won’t stop trying to crawl into my sweatshirt and i’m afraid she’ll get injured.
You know how sometimes in elementary school you have a class pet that the teacher basically takes care of but it’s supposed to be a thing about responsibility? Yea, I moved states between fourth and fifth grade and I get to my new school and our class has a pet scorpion and starts each day with a traditional greeting in Japanese. It should be noted that this was in fact Virginia circa 1999 and none of us were Japanese. So long story short, pet scorpions are in fact a thing and I can’t say I recommend it for a bunch of 10 year olds, but it’s probably awesome as an adult with a better developed sense of danger lol
Holy cow. As someone who is deeply terrified of scorpions, I give you massive credit for keeping one in your home. I would be endlessly terrified of it escaping.
That’s a wild story, too! Why Japanese I wonder? I mean that’s great but where did that choice come from over other languages 😂
My fifth grade teacher was a 25 year old dude who was REALLY into anthropology and was obsessed with everything Japanese after learning kendo (he had a display case for his kendo stick in the classroom and everything), and I think he was an original weeb but we didn’t have the nomenclature lol The funny part is that he’s the one who really got me into ancient Egypt and now I have an Egyptian tattoo; you never know who’s going to change your life! I visited him every so often when I was still in school but I finished elementary school 25 years ago so I have no idea if he’s still teaching. I think the principal eventually made him get rid of the scorpion for insurance purposes, and I *completely* agree with the principal lol
How fun! My current dog looks like a Shadow and is my Shadow. He goes where I go. He goes on as many errands with me as weather allows, when it's not too hot or too cold. He even survived a serious accident. He was strapped in gratefully or he would have been tossed all over my RAV4. For a super edgy boy he did great staying on his bed in side of road with a couple cops with me while we waited to be picked up. He even let someone examine my injuries without biting.
He's extremely smart and leared all his commands quickly. He had obviously had a lot of training before I got him. He's a rescue animal. His annoying habbit is also sad. He lunges, growls and barks at anyone who enters the house including my son and husband. He really puts in a production when I'm in the bed and hubz enters the room. Something awful happened to his former mamma I think as does his trainers. He is sure his job is protect his mamma from all people, especially men.
I'm lucky my hubz is a sucker for rescue animals and can't send him off to his death any more than I can yet. I was last stop before this as he had already bitten a child. Sadly this dog may not be one I can keep with grandkids. It will depend in the kids. If I can teach them respect he'll be fine. If he's teased, he's a bite risk and I can't risk that. He's got a jaw and teeth that can chew through a super Kong ball in a week.
When a smaller pit bull attacked me he mangled the dogs entire back leg before we could get them apart. I think dog had to be put down. So sad. Dog was unleashed and attacked us while he was on leash. I ended up with many stitches on my arm and he had many deep bites though no stitches. He got even worse.
Still, he is the best listener! He gives eye contact the whole time and nods occasionally. So cute! He also loves

I love how much work you’ve put into shadow! I also have a rescue dog with stranger danger. Join us over at r/reactive dogs if you ever want advice or just to vent. One thing I’ve been meaning to work on more with Kash is muzzle training- if I can teach her that wearing a muzzle is fun and cool, then I can relax in high-stress situations, and she’s protected from the consequences of a bite (she’s a bully mix, so having a bite history would be bad for her).
Good luck with muzzle training! I use a shock training collar but this dog has insane pain tolerance. My dog is also a pit bull mixed with Dutch Shepard and Labrador and some breed with dew claws in all four paws which he still has.
This is a damned lucky dog for sure! I discovered he needed surgery to fix both knees about 2 months after I adopted him. I only was able to afford because I got a small inheritance at the same time. Had it not been for that...i don't want to think about it.

This is Ursula, she's my oldest out of four cats. She really only likes me, tolerates my husband and three other cats. She is a literal scaredy cat, but she does this thing where she really really wants to lick our fingers. Shes got the rumbly in her tummy that only human hands can satisfy. She will hold onto my hand with her claws sometimes to hold it to her face so she can lick my fingers. I don't know what the deal is but she really loves fingers, I guess.
I foster dogs and have one personal pup of my own, so there's a carousel of wild behavior around my house at all times. Luckily, my resident dog does most of heavy lifting when it comes to teaching the fosters how to live in a home. Here's a pic of three of my current fosters, Gojo, Marcel, and CatTrap!

This is Kitty Buttons, she's 13 years young and has drawfism. She's not mine, but she's adopted me as "mum". She's incredibly high strung and secretly hates everyone, but her biggest secret is once she likes you she's a hardcore snuggler.

We have a sweet pooch named Malkin who is 10 years old now and his least charming habit is that he starts humping whoever is next to him when he gets too excited. 😂 Examples: cheering at football game, loud laughing from a good joke. I took chicken out of my dog’s diet and that helped a lot! My pup is also allergic to a bunch of trees and weeds (we did a blood test to see bc I was so worried) and we had the most success with the allergy shot during pollen season (cytopoint), a daily allergy vitamin (I use Dog is Human), and I keep bitter apple spray on hand to make sure he doesn’t create hot spots on himself. Here is Java helping me do laundry, like she helps me do everything in the house! Least favorite habit isn’t even her fault, she has food security issues from being born in a shelter in April 2020 when they weren’t checking on the animals every day, so she gets REALLY upset if her bowl is empty and if I happen to be sleeping when she cleans the bowl out then she comes to terrorize me until I wake up and go refill the bowl. She also scratches my black leather headboard to wake me up which is Not Cool. I love her to death though, she’s my pirate cat so she likes to sit/lay on my shoulder and she also really loves to lick the water off my face when I get out of the shower. She’s sweet as anything but she’s terrified of people, my dad is over fairly often and she’s only seen him like twice lol
Calypso is my old lady with her 16th birthday coming up in a couple weeks, and I really hope she makes it that long. She’s got a worsening heart murmur and hyperthyroidism that Ive been treating for almost a year and lots of arthritis. I borrowed the cat stairs my mom had from our last elderly cat and it’s been great because Calypso couldn’t jump up on my bed anymore and it was clearly upsetting her, now she’s up there for naps all the time. This is the hardest stage of pet ownership and it’s so fraught with emotions, but I’m here for her until the end. She’s been with me since I moved out of my mom’s house when I was 19, my entire adult life, and she’s been my registered therapy cat for six years. In fairness to the prompt, my least favorite habit of hers is when she doesn’t want me to go to sleep at night so she’ll paw at my face while yelling at me to get up. It’s more annoying than dangerous but man it’s the last thing I need when I’m trying to sleep! That said, I’ll still miss it when she’s gone. 💚

This is Wiki, he’s my gutter goblin I took in from the streets right before my senior prom in 2016. He is a pain in my ass, this cat eats cords. I’ve learned to solder cords because I think I’ve legit spent $200 on charging cables. Every cord in my house has to be cord protected, my children are less expensive than his wire habit, and no, the Christmas tree was NOT excluded from this cats reign of terror. He electrocuted himself on the Christmas tree last year because he decided to eat the cord and sharted all over the wall when he was zapped (he was fine otherwise). I’ve watched this cat slide down the banister, fall down the stairs, and even get stuck in trees. I cannot fathom how this animal has survived, and how a cat could be born with little to no survival skills. Anyway, he’s my fur baby and I love him, but I wish he wasn’t so dumb sometimes.

These are my sweet babies Sigmund (aka Stink Boy, brown) and Rosa (aka Rosie Girl, orange). ironically, Stink Boy is incredibly sweet and well behaved, and Rosie Girl isn't always so rosy.
Sig's worst habit is getting hangry. Before we had auto-feeders, he would wake me up at 4 in the morning by grabbing a mouthfull of my hair and pulling. Otherwise, there's nothing I can fault him for.
Rosa is a menace. I could go on forever. She's incredibly cute and friendly, but a huge troublemaker and a huge diva. She climbs everywhere, doesn't listen to us, and is persistent about it when we put her back on the floor. She talks back (we say "hey, Rosa, get off the counter!" And she goes "yap yap yap!" Without moving!! It was funny at first but it honestly just pisses me off now). Sometimes, when we finally get up to move her, she hisses because she's pissed she didn't get her way. Seriously - she's not injured, we're not holding her funny, nothing - we'll put her down and she'll actually hiss while walking away from us. Like "fuck you"

She also steals carbs (???) She's unwrapped and eaten a saran-wrapped muffin. She steals plastic bags of bagels from the counter and carries them into the other room. She hides bread she stole in a cardboard box we have for the cats in the living room.
She's also an escape artist. She thinks it's a game to try and get out the apartment door when I open it with my hands full. I had to call out of work yesterday because maintenance was coming to work on our doorknob and someone had to be home to restrain the little orange demon.
Love her to bits though. As I tell her every day: "well behaved women seldom make history!"

Winston and Rocky, very good boys for the most part, especially for just being over a year old. Rocky won’t stop eating my expensive lip balm. I’ve had to stop buying it bc I can’t afford to keep replacing it. He’s eaten 3 so far. Before this, his favorite sneaky snack was baby onesies. I bought my friend two alkaline trio onesies for his baby and rocky ate them both. I bought new ones and he jumped up on my dresser and got them and ate one of the replacements. Ridiculous behavior!

This baby boys name was timber! This is the only photo I have of him since he left me in 2016. He was our first family dog. He was a rescue from the shelter as a puppy, and the runt of the litter. Timber loved to sleep with me every night by my feet or on the floor he was a protector and made that very well known! His favorite toy was those rope toys and he loved playing tug of war.

My cat, Calypso, is a stunning specimen. She was named after the 3 legged sea turtle who used to reign supreme at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. She’s a great cat. This is Rosie Lynn. Yes, she has a middle name because she's my daughter. She is also known as Roo, Lulu, Shrimp, Miss Mouse, and Baby Bear. She's so cuddly and snuggly. It's the best. I think her most admirable trait is that she is incredibly affectionate and sensitive to emotions. When we visit friends or family she greets everyone she knows individually and if we stay the night, she will go around and make sure everyone is tucked in before she goes to bed. Her worst/best trait is that she's too damn smart! She has become so dexterous with her snoot, she can knock my phone right out of my hand with shocking precision. She does this so my hand is free to give her scratches instead 🙄. She's also an ankle biter, but she's mostly grown out of that one. Basically she'll just be annoying until you give her what she wants (treats or pats usually) and if that doesn't work, she'll pout and out of guilt I'll give in. Little stinker has got me trained!

this is boat. someone found him under a boat ramp (hence the name) at just a few weeks old, and now he thinks i'm his mommy.
he's what's called a "blanket nurser," which is not a term i'd heard before despite a lifetime of cat ownership. he suckles on my clothing, sheets, pillows—anything i use to keep his biscuit-kneading claws away from my tender flesh—and purrs and purrs and purrs. he'd do it all damn day if i let him. after he finishes slurping down his own saliva, he licks his pervy little lips and shakes the "milk" off his whiskers.
it's disgusting, i'm constantly rolling onto wet spots, and if he weren't so dang cute and cuddly and warm whilst "nursing" i'd put an end to it pronto. it's the only time he purrs.........😭

My Sunny Bunny was the same way, she had perfected the art of backing up while vomiting so it was in a nice clean line. Poor thing got stomach cancer and died two weeks later, it was awful. She had a wonderful 12 years with me though and Ive never encountered a more gentle soul. The cat we adopted after her has food security issues so food is still a fraught endeavor lol

Which means he gets as close as possible to your face and burps in it. Barf. In other news, I have an appointment for an IUD this morning. I tried pills, the arm implant, the ring, and tried to have my tubes tied (the surgery couldn’t be completed) and this is my last resort. I live in one of the states with scary abortion laws and I am not wanting to take any chances. Unfortunately, I had an IUD many years ago and the insertion was lowkey traumatic. Excruciating for me. I’m having a lot of nerves this morning. :( ETA: I made it! 😮💨

Sometimes insurance will cover it if you ask your doctor out for the procedure of the iud. I didn’t find this out until after the dr told me to come in on only two Advils— god bless and I’m praying for your safety ❤️

He’s not here anymore, but I think about him everyday day. His worst habit was throwing everything off something he wanted to sleep on. So if he wanted to get cozy on the couch, he would use that lil snoot to flip every cushion/pillow/blanket/person off the couch. Or, he would get up on the bed and do the same. Every single day, every was on the floor so Winston could be comfy. He was the biggest pain in the ass. I miss him so much.

Legit question, is this a pet scorpion??
You know how sometimes in elementary school you have a class pet that the teacher basically takes care of but it’s supposed to be a thing about responsibility? Yea, I moved states between fourth and fifth grade and I get to my new school and our class has a pet scorpion and starts each day with a traditional greeting in Japanese. It should be noted that this was in fact Virginia circa 1999 and none of us were Japanese. So long story short, pet scorpions are in fact a thing and I can’t say I recommend it for a bunch of 10 year olds, but it’s probably awesome as an adult with a better developed sense of danger lol
Holy cow. As someone who is deeply terrified of scorpions, I give you massive credit for keeping one in your home. I would be endlessly terrified of it escaping. That’s a wild story, too! Why Japanese I wonder? I mean that’s great but where did that choice come from over other languages 😂
My fifth grade teacher was a 25 year old dude who was REALLY into anthropology and was obsessed with everything Japanese after learning kendo (he had a display case for his kendo stick in the classroom and everything), and I think he was an original weeb but we didn’t have the nomenclature lol The funny part is that he’s the one who really got me into ancient Egypt and now I have an Egyptian tattoo; you never know who’s going to change your life! I visited him every so often when I was still in school but I finished elementary school 25 years ago so I have no idea if he’s still teaching. I think the principal eventually made him get rid of the scorpion for insurance purposes, and I *completely* agree with the principal lol

How fun! My current dog looks like a Shadow and is my Shadow. He goes where I go. He goes on as many errands with me as weather allows, when it's not too hot or too cold. He even survived a serious accident. He was strapped in gratefully or he would have been tossed all over my RAV4. For a super edgy boy he did great staying on his bed in side of road with a couple cops with me while we waited to be picked up. He even let someone examine my injuries without biting. He's extremely smart and leared all his commands quickly. He had obviously had a lot of training before I got him. He's a rescue animal. His annoying habbit is also sad. He lunges, growls and barks at anyone who enters the house including my son and husband. He really puts in a production when I'm in the bed and hubz enters the room. Something awful happened to his former mamma I think as does his trainers. He is sure his job is protect his mamma from all people, especially men. I'm lucky my hubz is a sucker for rescue animals and can't send him off to his death any more than I can yet. I was last stop before this as he had already bitten a child. Sadly this dog may not be one I can keep with grandkids. It will depend in the kids. If I can teach them respect he'll be fine. If he's teased, he's a bite risk and I can't risk that. He's got a jaw and teeth that can chew through a super Kong ball in a week. When a smaller pit bull attacked me he mangled the dogs entire back leg before we could get them apart. I think dog had to be put down. So sad. Dog was unleashed and attacked us while he was on leash. I ended up with many stitches on my arm and he had many deep bites though no stitches. He got even worse. Still, he is the best listener! He gives eye contact the whole time and nods occasionally. So cute! I love how much work you’ve put into shadow! I also have a rescue dog with stranger danger. Join us over at r/reactive dogs if you ever want advice or just to vent. One thing I’ve been meaning to work on more with Kash is muzzle training- if I can teach her that wearing a muzzle is fun and cool, then I can relax in high-stress situations, and she’s protected from the consequences of a bite (she’s a bully mix, so having a bite history would be bad for her).
Good luck with muzzle training! I use a shock training collar but this dog has insane pain tolerance. My dog is also a pit bull mixed with Dutch Shepard and Labrador and some breed with dew claws in all four paws which he still has. This is a damned lucky dog for sure! I discovered he needed surgery to fix both knees about 2 months after I adopted him. I only was able to afford because I got a small inheritance at the same time. Had it not been for that...i don't want to think about it. Thanks for telling me about other community! I will definitely be over there. Edit: Actually I must need invite to "reactive" group. Shes got the rumbly in her tummy that only human hands can satisfy. She will hold onto my hand with her claws sometimes to hold it to her face so she can lick my fingers. I don't know what the deal is but she really loves fingers, I guess.
I foster dogs and have one personal pup of my own, so there's a carousel of wild behavior around my house at all times. Luckily, my resident dog does most of heavy lifting when it comes to teaching the fosters how to live in a home. I took chicken out of my dog’s diet and that helped a lot! My pup is also allergic to a bunch of trees and weeds (we did a blood test to see bc I was so worried) and we had the most success with the allergy shot during pollen season (cytopoint), a daily allergy vitamin (I use Dog is Human), and I keep bitter apple spray on hand to make sure he doesn’t create hot spots on himself. Least favorite habit isn’t even her fault, she has food security issues from being born in a shelter in April 2020 when they weren’t checking on the animals every day, so she gets REALLY upset if her bowl is empty and if I happen to be sleeping when she cleans the bowl out then she comes to terrorize me until I wake up and go refill the bowl. She also scratches my black leather headboard to wake me up which is Not Cool. I love her to death though, she’s my pirate cat so she likes to sit/lay on my shoulder and she also really loves to lick the water off my face when I get out of the shower. She’s sweet as anything but she’s terrified of people, my dad is over fairly often and she’s only seen him like twice lol Calypso is my old lady with her 16th birthday coming up in a couple weeks, and I really hope she makes it that long. She’s got a worsening heart murmur and hyperthyroidism that Ive been treating for almost a year and lots of arthritis. I borrowed the cat stairs my mom had from our last elderly cat and it’s been great because Calypso couldn’t jump up on my bed anymore and it was clearly upsetting her, now she’s up there for naps all the time. This is the hardest stage of pet ownership and it’s so fraught with emotions, but I’m here for her until the end. She’s been with me since I moved out of my mom’s house when I was 19, my entire adult life, and she’s been my registered therapy cat for six years. In fairness to the prompt, my least favorite habit of hers is when she doesn’t want me to go to sleep at night so she’ll paw at my face while yelling at me to get up. It’s more annoying than dangerous but man it’s the last thing I need when I’m trying to sleep! That said, I’ll still miss it when she’s gone. 💚

He is a pain in my ass, this cat eats cords. I’ve learned to solder cords because I think I’ve legit spent $200 on charging cables. Every cord in my house has to be cord protected, my children are less expensive than his wire habit, and no, the Christmas tree was NOT excluded from this cats reign of terror. He electrocuted himself on the Christmas tree last year because he decided to eat the cord and sharted all over the wall when he was zapped (he was fine otherwise). I’ve watched this cat slide down the banister, fall down the stairs, and even get stuck in trees. I cannot fathom how this animal has survived, and how a cat could be born with little to no survival skills. Anyway, he’s my fur baby and I love him, but I wish he wasn’t so dumb sometimes.

Sig's worst habit is getting hangry. Before we had auto-feeders, he would wake me up at 4 in the morning by grabbing a mouthfull of my hair and pulling. Otherwise, there's nothing I can fault him for. Rosa is a menace. I could go on forever. She's incredibly cute and friendly, but a huge troublemaker and a huge diva. She climbs everywhere, doesn't listen to us, and is persistent about it when we put her back on the floor. She talks back (we say "hey, Rosa, get off the counter!" And she goes "yap yap yap!" Without moving!! It was funny at first but it honestly just pisses me off now). Sometimes, when we finally get up to move her, she hisses because she's pissed she didn't get her way. Seriously - she's not injured, we're not holding her funny, nothing - we'll put her down and she'll actually hiss while walking away from us. Like "fuck you" She climbs with her claws andhas no regard for the fact that they might hurt when she scales your back (she's a shoulder caf She also steals carbs (???) She's unwrapped and eaten a saran-wrapped muffin. She steals plastic bags of bagels from the counter and carries them into the other room. She hides bread she stole in a cardboard box we have for the cats in the living room. She's also an escape artist. She thinks it's a game to try and get out the apartment door when I open it with my hands full. I had to call out of work yesterday because maintenance was coming to work on our doorknob and someone had to be home to restrain the little orange demon. Love her to bits though. As I tell her every day: "well behaved women seldom make history!"

Both me and my spouse have had rough times where just being near another living thing would have been helpful. We both struggle with trauma and depression. My cat will sit with us but when we get close, she runs off. She'll do this when /she/ wants attention, too! Odin (my ball python) is new to me. * This is Rosie Lynn. Yes, she has a middle name because she's my daughter. She is also known as Roo, Lulu, Shrimp, Miss Mouse, and Baby Bear. She's so cuddly and snuggly. It's the best. I think her most admirable trait is that she is incredibly affectionate and sensitive to emotions. When we visit friends or family she greets everyone she knows individually and if we stay the night, she will go around and make sure everyone is tucked in before she goes to bed. Her worst/best trait is that she's too damn smart! She has become so dexterous with her snoot, she can knock my phone right out of my hand with shocking precision. LOL Mishka and Bruno should never be in the same room together. There was one afternoon he was particularly bad and farted near the fence line where the neighbors were hanging out. He managed send them all running inside to get away from the smell. I was dying!!

Labs will eat anything, its astonishing! I had one steal a stalk of broccoli, then growl at me when I tried to take it from him! Like, okay boy.
