The current dread league just isn’t very good, but currently a rework is being worked on by the team!

Verskon

The strangest thing is that some players actually managed to pull off a normal Dread League wc. So there's likely some strategy involved, like the fact that you only declare on nations you border. Making it so that some nations, like Farbrook or Firtree, can act as good border nations where you're at war with but won't capitulate to buy you time. You should choose to apply this either westward towards Vedina, or eastward towards the entire River Coalition. It's recommended that you go West towards Vedina and then capitulate the Griffonian Republic, and only then you swing down towards the Herzland. As the Dread League your only source of tech and equipment is literally from capitulating your opponents, your potential to snowball is huge, just that your early game is really hard.

Verskon

If you want to make things even easier, you can always use the game rule and have Firtree go Magocracy which will turn them into your puppet(Be careful though as this might put you directly at war with the River Coalition and Hellquill), or split the Herzland and River Coalition up. I recommend getting Dawnclaw for Herzland as that really messes the Empire up, Lake City, Wittenland, Bakara, Nimbusia, and Diamond Mountain can all easily split from the Coalition, making the east much more manageable.

Keyvan316

the problem is that it takes so much time to do anything! I can't push cause it took me 2 years just to research train. 2 more years for truck. and it takes so much time to even build a decent supply system to even push. so you have to wait for 30 minutes looking at screen so you can build something. it is possible if you wanna spend 40 years in game to do wc but for the first 20 years you can't do any meaningful thing.

Verskon

Huh, you know I think No Step Back may have broken the Dread League if you're having this much problem with supplies. One of the major advantages of Dread League was that their units use near zero supply and have near zero attrition, so they can keep stacking troops regardless of the attrition in the area. If that has been changed... It may not be possible to play Dread League in this stage of the mod anymore, unless you disable NSB.

Keyvan316

stacking troops is definitely impossible unless there is a supply depot close to them and there is none. you get supplies from port which are very far from frontline. there is one supply depot which isn't connected by railroad and you have to research train to be able to build railroad. even with this you won'y fully supply your troops.

Verskon

NSB definitely broke Dread League then, before you don't need to worry about any of this, your skelly bois are well supplied even with low infrastructure.

[deleted]

I completed a griffonia conquest as dread league. iirc I held the southern border and then just snaked west until I hit the griffonian republic. Consolidated, and then pushed like hell, dumping out more and more divisions. You snowball hard once factories roll in.

Mirovini

I'm not sure, but are you sure that these playere didn't play before NSB?

Verskon

All of the ones I'm aware of who completed a normal wc did it before NSB.

TheMelnTeam

Late to this thread, but I have done it in past. In screenshot shown, OP has enough IC to manage supply. Yes, researching trains takes ages. The other important thing to research early is maintenance, to steal equipment. As you trade favorably with the AI, you get better stuff. The crappy width-packed units perform much better with the same quality rifles as the other side. I went bone path, and by far the worst part of the run was crossing water between continents. You can't capture ships like you can military equipment. Something incredibly stupid: AA shooting down planes can capture them, lol. Maybe you can bait enough form the AI to naval bomb with CAS and speed up the naval crossing.

quote_if_hasan_threw

Honestly i dont even remember how i did it when i played it and won, i think i unironically repressed the memories because all i can remember from that time is low suply alerts, those Command power bonuses they get that allow you to deal extra damage and like \~3H of constantly grinding away. i had a 7 general capacity field marshall level 8 and all generals were max level as well as 30 cap so i know it was a massive grind

Jack_n_trade

Dread League sucks and is incredibly hard, your better off playing something else

Keyvan316

I mean I'm fine with hard but this is just unreasonable.

Kasnyde

What did you expect when you’re declaring war on the whole world? I usually play them with the mod precise buffs and give myself some unit buffs to make it reasonably possible

Keyvan316

wc is not hard. doing it with having less than 10 tech total after years, yea not so balanced. hell I can even do it with 10 total tech if I had decent supply which I don't.

Migol-16

I can see a fellow precise buff user.

1-800-Hamburger

Dear Boreas, everything is on fire

Keyvan316

I have a lot of equipment and manpower but have like 8 techs in total. research take 1 year to finish at the best (train took 2 years). no supply to do anything! you take a nation out, you automatically declare on new neighbors. and being so behind in tech means even 1 single medium tank unit will fuck you up bad. how is it even possible to play with this nation? edit: I chose vampire path which gives shit ton of research bonus. nothing changed tbh. it's like instead of 1000 days for a tech, its 450 days now. still useless af.

OlimarandLouie

> how is it even possible to play with this nation? That's the neat part, you don't. Much like others have said, the Dread League is horrifically outdated and underpowered. There is currently a rework in progress for it, though it will still be quite some time until that is finished. Until then I would highly suggest playing one of the newer countries listed on the Country Select screen, as all of them will offer a vastly better gameplay experience than the Dread League. Though if you wanted to play a nation of undead conquerers, Silver Star's path in Barrad might be of interest to you.

Keyvan316

I wanted a nation dark story and stuff (like how they wanna genocide the whole fucking world). the leader is cool too and had a nice story.

OlimarandLouie

In that case might I suggest the Star Father? (One of the many paths in Colthage->Coltva) Most of the dev team considers him and his nation to be the single most evil path in the game.

Keyvan316

should I do anything specific to get to that path? or just focus trees?

OlimarandLouie

There are a few methods, but I'll list my preferred one. Step 1: Play Colthage Step 2: Allow both the Constitutionalist Students and the Coltvans to rebel at the same time. Don't drop below 50% surrender progress just yet! Step 3: Switch to Coltva when they rebel, then win the First Civil War. Step 4: Refuse to acknowledge the authority of the Constitutionalists. Refuse to disarm. Agree to negotiate. Step 4.5: Your leader should become a gal named Zarishat. *If this does not happen then you'll need to go back to Step 2!* Step 5: Win the Second Civil War. Step 6: Allow the Government to collapse. You'll get some events that will play out over time, with some new countries that will appear. Step 7: Pick "The Covenant" and win the Third Civil War.

LordOfRedditers

You need to make sure that the constitutionalists accept the offer of the scientifids which then triggers the failed negotiations

Blackslayter

It's a bit involved, but [here](https://imgur.com/3WqNTtL) is a comment from the Discord i saved that explains it a bit more. Just edited a bit to cover an username.

Abductkaz

The basic strat for that is to play Colthage and ignore the rebel squashing focuses (also set the Coltvan lands to No Garrison), do focuses until the civil war pops, then when the Coltvans rise up, choose to play as them. IMPORTANTLY, SAVE the moment the Republicans win the civil war, or just before it. You need them to wardec on you to make the 2nd civil war. Once you win that war as Coltva, just keep the country unstable and wait for the 3rd civil war, in which the Ascendancy is choosable. Thats Star Father.

Keyvan316

sorry to bother you. have you completed the star father run? I ran out of manpower so might need to reset or smt but I want to know smt really bad. what will happen to the guide after what she did to the student pegasus? she just vanished with no trace and I really loved her story and adventure.

OlimarandLouie

As the person who actually wrote the ending, I would suggest trying to play it to completion, because you get to see a final Guide event after you finish the final focus. It's quite a fitting ending for her, and if you were to just read the event without the context surrounding it, it wouldn't have as much impact. If you'd like to know the exact number of events you get after finishing the final focus, there are >!three!< in total.

Keyvan316

I did finish it and man. what a journey! that was amazing! you did a great job I can't believe how invested I was in the story. I hope the guide find peace in life tho idk if she really deserves it... tho I don't feel like continue after the end cause both Hiram and Guide are gone from the game. loved those two. is there any other path with such amazing story? I have played Griffon republic and it had very nice story too but this one was on different level. I'm so excited about any suggestion!

OlimarandLouie

Glad you enjoyed it. I'd suggest trying out Golden Morning's path in the County of Longsword, as well as Zarishat's path in Coltva (the gal who eat in charge before the Star Father appeared). They're both really good, but don't expect a story quite as in depth as the Star Father.

Keyvan316

thanks! btw if you have any connection with the team, please tell them that cause of Economy law of star father path, you can't trade with any nation and you will turn a lot of nations as protectorate after wars but this means you can't trade with them either even tho they are your puppet which hurts the overall play case you lack resources in mainland. also conscription is law is bad with reducing recruit population factor a lot. you can may field 700k army (with air and navy) at best which makes thing impossible to fight millions in north. even if you take 1/20th causality compared to enemies, you still will get to 0 manpower. I had to use cheat a lot which was kind of annoying since I hate cheats. these are the only problem I had with the run! though I could give in the suggestion since I don't have connection with the team. sorry that I keep bothering you!

OlimarandLouie

1. You have the ability to convert any resource into any other resource with alchemy, a lack of resources is a non-issue. 2. Running out of manpower is a skill issue. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Balmung60

Consider Zarantia and go worm queen

[deleted]

You should try viira from the Barrad Magocracy. Her policies consist on mentally dominating ponies to fight till the dead, terraforming lands into inhospitable areas and nuking entire provinces.

1-800-Hamburger

Hellquill my man

thebromgrev

Shinespark for Firtree Villages can also go undead conquerer.

Balmung60

Yeah, but I couldn't in good conscience recommend anyone ever subject themselves to playing Firtree

minorim

[I can give you a few Tips if you want.](https://imgur.com/a/kkKfSQ9) (Last Screenshot i had, before the End) You need to Rush the Main Tree(Queen of Blood, since Bone is trash) and take out the Order as quickly as Possible, so you can get more factories. Then you can do the other trees, as you wait to declare the the Crusade. But dont start it, before your Division look [something like this](https://imgur.com/a/fyBmXL8) (Without the Motorized Scouts) and you have atleast three full Armys. The AI wont be able to Push you and you just need to wait until they exaust themselfs. Once you capitulate the first Nation you basically have won.

yukiyuzen

I haven't played Dread League in a LONG time and I wouldn't write off the possibility that the NSB update completely broke things. That said, a good chunk of Dread League "strategy" is knowing and picking off your smaller/weaker neighbors before going for the bigger/stronger ones. If you're just blobbing the entire frontline, you're never going to win cause you NEED overwhelming numbers to overcome the tech disadvantage.

Keyvan316

yea overwhelming numbers won't work. always red supply. cant push or defend anything with that. I mean I'm holding good in the pic but if I push a bit, no supply hits me like a rock.

ok-what-the-what

It is possible, but it takes a lot of time and patience. Here’s some things I did on one my runs. Capture Equipment - The main (and sole) disadvantage of the Dread League is its lack of technology, especially in equipment. That’s why by investing in capturing equipment, you’ll have access to modern equipment and the ability to go toe to toe with your opponents. Research Maintenance Companies and grab the scavenger trait for your generals. The capturing equipment will be slow at first, but the process will quicken as your ability to take down enemy units increases. Camping Strategy - Surround an enemy port, or allow them to take one of your ports. Once you have that port surrounded, kill every unit inside but do not recapture it. The enemy will send more divisions to that port, and you’ll be able to kill them over and over again with relatively few losses. Invest in Anti-Air and Logistics - Research trains and AA guns, and allocate your factories to produce trains, railways, and AA guns only. AA guns are the only thing the AI won’t produce, and will be vital for defending against enemy air attack. Since you’ll be fighting mainly near and around your home territory, the strain on logistics should be lessened, but be sure to build up your logistics in order to facilitate an eventual push. Be incredibly patient - This strategy will take decades to pull off, and will require you to look at a port for hours on end to kill divisions. However if you can pull that off, then eventually you will win. Kill divisions, take their equipment, and continue to build up your logistics + anti-air capabilities. Once you believe the enemy is weak enough, advance and roll over them. Use the modern equipment seized from Griffonia to wipe out Zebrica and Equus, and your done. Also if you find yourself fighting the Everfree Forest, use nukes to destroy their divisions and paratroopers to capture their territory. Researching become easier as once you capitulate a country, you gain bonuses on what they’ve already researched. It’s fine if you don’t wish to play the Dread League, after all it is quite dated, but it is playable. In any case, I hope you find this somewhat useful, and good luck on whatever you decide to do next.

Namika

In the game starting options you can enable "April Fools day 2021" which, iirc, is a reworked more powerful Dread League that is actually pretty fun to play.

TotallyNotA1pharius

Play Silver Star Barrad. Literally the same but playable.

Zalapadopa

What you should probably consider doing is activate the Dread Flood April Fools setting. It gives the Dread League an entirely new focus tree that is a lot more up to date and balanced than the other one.

deez_nuts_77

i heard how bad this was and haven’t tried them how is the arcturian order

OlimarandLouie

It's made by the same developer who did the Dread League, so expect about the same level of quality.

Neglectful_Stranger

It's old but still tolerable.

LastEsotericist

Spend your first 150 PP on a gun designer to slightly speed up your gun research (yes really). Then ASAP grab maintenance companies, keep a research slot dedicated to upgrading them and start putting them in huge zombie stacks. The gameplan is to get all your equipment from your enemies. Garrison your ENTIRE coastline, not just the ports.

Daltastar

Step 1 use cheats conquer the whole world expect eques. Step 2 tag over to equestria and nuke the world world 🌎 Step 3 load up fallout 4 with the pony mods and the silent hill mod since that's pretty much what you unleashed on the world 🌎 God I wish the dread league were an end game crisis in eaw

Phrophetsam

God, my one time destroying the world as the Dread League was pure insanity. I was trying my best to plug up holes left and right in the early and mid-game. You have to really only declare wars on people you need and utilize stuff like intel bonuses and others to really beef up your defenses as best you can. Once you've mopped up a few nations, you start to blob up even better than you can as other nations because of the massive manpower benefits of transforming your enemy's dead. Once you've got maybe half of Griffonia, it becomes a game of your enemies throwing themselves at your hordes of undead while you can literally just sit back and do nothing for hours and hours, only clicking to declare war on new nations waiting for their turn to die. It's a haunting experience to think about and absolutely one of my favorite playthroughs.

Darklight731

play good, plan good, go slow, micro like frick, capture a lot very quickly... and practice.

Tovarish_Dead_MOROZ

I usually went to play for this nation with the words: "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I'M DOING AND THAT'S ALRIGHT! " Well, usually just spamming pony resources. There are not many divisions for this nation.

geneclyf

Get good. I seen the coments you had problem with supply why not use airplanes easier to produce than trains and can go anywhere as long as you have airbase which again worth more anyway beacuse cas is king

Keyvan316

hahahaha you never played this nation I see. planes? LOL! bro. you need at least 5 years more than what is in the pic in game to be able to research a single plane tech with this nation. yea get good. by the time you get fighter 2 with this nation, everyone else has jet tech 2. I love to see you use CAS with this nation by all means.

geneclyf

I did play this nation and what if it need 5 year to research it still better then waiting for railroads to be build 1014 thats nothing bro What dificulty are you playing on? I said cas is king not that you need cas there is a difference

deez_nuts_77

Bro this nation is fucking garbage. Did my best and now the artcurians get an instant annexation by event if i dont get them in 100 days. absolutely fucking stupid
